On Friday night, 3/8/24, a group of work friends & I were out celebrating at QPS. Over the course of a few hours we were having a lot of fun playing the games and received great service from ALL the bartenders and people that were picking up glasses and tidying throughout the facility. The bathrooms were clean too.
As the night moved on, one man from a group of 3, glommed onto one of the women in our group, playing giant Jenga. He brought her up to the bar to get drinks. I was uncomfortable with how familiar he was trying to be with her, so I also went up. I don't think he understood that I knew her until he grabbed her around her waist and I reacted without realizing it and pulled his hand off of her and stated "No". My friend left the area and went to the bathroom. I stood there next to him while he waited for their drink order and I waited for my soda. When the 2 drinks he ordered arrived, one with a lime, the other without, in my periphery, I saw him swish the straw of the drink without the lime. When he reached for the one with the lime I took it from him and stated "I don't think so", certain that he had put something in that drink. All he said was "She wanted one without lime". I told him that my friend is married and he needed to knock it off. He said that he was married too and that they were just having fun. After a couple clipped exchanges, I told him his fun with her was done. At that point my friend came back and the guy walked away. I brought my friend back to our group and noted that the other two men that had been with the weird guy were also gone. Our party was dispersing at that point as well. When we were walking out the door, I stopped and spoke with the two door men. The spokesman for the pair told us that we "should wait until the morning to make a report", that "the police would not take a report that night seriously", because we had been drinking, and that if we waited until the morning, they would take us more "seriously". He said that once the report was made, the police would come to the business and subpoena the video footage from the bar. The second door man backed him up. Neither one of was was inebriated and I had switched to sodas well before, because I had work the following day.
I have since contacted CMPD. I was advised that what the door men told us was incorrect. They told me that we should have stepped outside and called 911 right away. They stated that we should not have spoken with the door men, because they very well could've been involved in this too. They stated that because I was not the intended victim, my friend would actually have to file the report and list me as her witness and that we would have to go to the site of the incident.
I would be willing to put my paycheck on the likelihood that that man had tampered with my friend's drink and I regret how I handled it. I wish I had the foresight to have held onto that drink and called the cops, despite not wanting to create a scene.
LADIES!!!! BE CAREFUL OUT THERE! BE VIGILENT AND LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER!!!!
