On the Grid : Queens Botanical Garden

"Queens Botanical Garden is 39 acres of plants, trees, and flowers, which was renovated in 2005 and 2007. You'll most likely witness a marriage take place under the white gazebo or a bridal party taking their wedding photographs here. We took a free bilingual composting class (Mandarin and English)—you could even become a New York City certified master composter. They host a variety of events year round like their Arbor Fest with a beer tent, kid games, and petting zoo (llamas are always a hit!). Find a nook within the garden to enjoy the sound of the birds and bees (they have a bee garden!)." - QNS MADE

Queens Botanical Garden - Review - New York - The Infatuation

"If you've ever wondered what it's like to be at the Queens Botanical Garden after hours, buy a ticket to one of their Movie Nights at the Garden screenings. The mostly family-friendly selection of movies start at 8:30pm, but they'll let you in as early as 7pm. There are no chairs on site, but you can bring your own blanket or foldable chair, and they have snacks and drinks available for purchase. Check out the full schedule and all pricing options here. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

It’s a very nice botanical garden if you set your expectations properly. If you didn’t see yet NYBG or BBG or Snug Harbor garden in Staten Island, visit them first. However if you’ve done these bigger botanical gardens already, QBG is really good one to check out. Large parking lot had ample empty spots on June afternoon weekend. Rose garden was top attraction for me. They certainly have more space to arrange more thematic gardens to make the QBG more competitive (for example, BBG is much more feature-packed).

Peaceful place. Clean , relaxing, not too crowded, and to go place esp if you are a nature lover. I captured good flowers coz its springtime. :)

Google
Nice garden 🪴 I went to this garden in the spring. It's really big (easy to get lost!) with lots of plants and flowers, and it's very popular with families and kids. Great for sunbathing and picnics, and they even have a souvenir shop. If you’re coming, make sure to get your entrance ticket first!

Google
Made my first visit here for their beer, wine, and spirits festival yesterday 7/19/25, and it was a fine event marred by rude staff towards the end. As my friends and I are gathering our belongings at 4:30pm, including their stroller for their 1 year old and the 20 bottles they purchased, this black guy with glasses and a beard starts rushing us to leave. He was presumably security but never bothered to identify himself accordingly. The garden itself looks decent but not as good as the Bronx Botanical Garden, which has had similar events with better execution.

Google
The queens botanical garden is a massive and stunning place to visit. It's a must visit if you've never been here before. The price for entry is only 6 dollars per person. 4 dollars if you are a student. There are plenty of places to sit and relax and enjoy the weather. There are also plenty of nice photo ops. I saw 3 couples taking their wedding pictures here. That's how you know this is a beautiful place.

We truly can’t recommend the Queens Botanical Garden enough for anyone looking for a wedding venue. The venue is absolutely gorgeous, the staff are incredibly helpful and they really have the whole process down to a science. They went above and beyond to make our wedding so special. I really can’t believe they are able to provide such a fantastic service and such a gorgeous venue for such a reasonable price. Thank you so much to the whole events team for everything you did to create our dream wedding!

Google
It was a very nice day. We had a picnic in the arboretum, and a pleasant walk through the beautiful gardens. Everything was very beautiful. The only negative was that the gate to the wedding garden was closed so we could not explore what is arguably the most beautiful part of the entire place.

Google
My sister and I have been to this place last year and had a wonderful time this was because attend Taiwan A World of Orchids show. The show was magnificent because there were different colors of the orchids. There were many people and that both of us enjoyed it because it was a nice day.

Yelp
This review is for our experience hosting a birthday party event for our son at the Queens Botanical Garden. We inquired about the venue and was setup with our NaNa event coordinator who gave us a tour and a detailed run down of what the day would look like. Several options were presented to us and provided details of the space, schedule, food, guests arrival, setup, favors, rules, etc. Given the location and space, we found the price to be pretty reasonable compared to other similar venues. We had a large private space and even had access to the outdoor balcony. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain on the day of the party, but that staff did a great job moving the lessons and pumpkin patch indoors. The kids had a great time and the staff were very helpful. Payment options could be more convenient, but we managed fine. Parking for guests are a separate charge and non refundable, so be sure to confirm before paying in advance. We liked that there was a fridge and we could bring our choice of commercially prepared food. Our son has dietary restrictions so it was nice to have the option.

Yelp
This review is for their Astra Lumina Exhibit, which ends in Feb 2024. Go while you can! Get tickets: https://astralumina.com/new-york/ Ticket prices range from $29-$65 (child, seniors, adults, with or without parking); plus ticketing fees. Note that the entrance is on Crommelin St (not Main St.) Astra Lumina: an enchanted night walk amongst the stars...in the Queens Botanical Garden! This magical walk takes about an hr but I would suggest to take your time and experience these magical lights and sounds to the fullest. Once you exit, there is no re-entry. I really didn't know what to expect when I purchased tkts. It looked pretty cool and interesting on Instagram! Haha Here's a description from their website: This enchanted night walk at Queens Botanical Garden invites visitors to discover the wonder of visiting stars. Set off across mysterious grounds to discover a celestial pathway of lustrous light, cosmic visions, and astral song. Created by the visionary minds at Moment Factory, Astra Lumina NY is the 19th experience in the Lumina Night Walk series. This was my first time experiencing anything like this. I took my 9 yr old niece and she rates this 8.75/10 (talk about exact, huh?! lol). The entire event was visually stunning and yes, magical! I would rate this 7.5/10 cause I'm so jaded. lol But definitely a fun family event. There are benches along the path if you get tired or just want to sit and observe. Like I mentioned earlier, don't rush thru this path, or you'll find yourself at the exit really quickly. At their high prices, you'll want to stay a while. Tickets are sold for specific timeslots but we got there early, and they let us in right away. Street Parking in the area can be challenging but you may get lucky like we did, or pay for parking at the Queens Botanical Garden. But I would suggest looking for street parking first. There are a couple of food, beverage and merchandise vendors. Plenty of restrooms; you'll want to use the ones inside the offices at the entrance, unless you're a fan of the porta toilets (no thanks!). All in all, a cool event but I probably wouldn't go twice.

Yelp
This is a beautiful place to see. The park is just off the Van Wyck. They have a variety of flowers and open space. They have a composed program. Great place to get out and enjoy the beauty

Yelp
This is a review for the Astra Lumina limited exhibit. Remind me to never visit a light show in NYC ever again. Tickets for just my wife and I were over 90 bucks. Two drinks and two small snacks were over $50. For these prices, you get a handful of (admittedly) cool light displays, but mostly a whole lot of "meh" and cheap videos on 20 year-old LCD screens. There was a lot of wasted space, and a path too narrow to allow people to stop and admire the exhibits. Everyone was constantly pushing in front of eachother to take pictures. Good news? Uhh...the bathrooms are clean? And there's benches along the path for people to rest on. Total runtime will be about 45 minutes - 1 hour. Frankly, even if the tickets were half the price, it still wouldn't have been worth it. You can do better, NYC.

Yelp
Currently showing astra lumina at night :) great to walk through, loved the set up, very nicely spaced out for the experience. Highly recommended!!!

Yelp
The Astra Lumina exhibition was amazing. We spent a good hour exploring around and looking at the light show. It was magical. I felt everything overall was well organized. The time I went it wasn't super crowded or busy so we had an opportunity to take our time. I hope they have something like this again for this coming year.

Yelp
The weather was in the high 80s today. Queens Botanical Garden is located in the heart of Flushing and conveniently within walking distance from the Flushing-Main Street subway station. They do accept cash and credit card. The adult admission was six dollars. I started strolling through the Helen and Martin Kaltman Fragrance Walk. I photographed the beautiful flowers along the way. Lastly, I walked over to the Cherry Circle & Four Seasons Border. There were so many beautiful cherry blossom trees. The light pink and white petals were floating down. It was such a beautiful moment! The restrooms were located inside and outside of the Visitor & Administration Building.

Yelp
If you're a fan of the outdoors or seeing nature, a trip here is an absolute must. Shockingly it's not nearly as inaccessible as I thought it was since the bus to get here from the last 7 stop shows up in a timely manner and doesn't take forever. I went on an unseasonably warm day but not a boiling hot day, which feels like the ideal time to go. Lots of great things here like the Rose Garden, the herb garden, fountains and definitely lots of green and walking space though you'll occasionally hear signs of the city. I was here to get a break from some big life stuff and though I got here later than I originally planned I still feel like I got a good visit that was worth the trip even bringing my lunch with me and eating outside. My mom in particular would love this place and would likely love the gift shop; I came this close to getting something there but decided against it due to having cats and not needing items I saw. I wish there was an online gift shop but there isn't so if you want something you'd better get it while you're there. I'd definitely go back with someone though going alone isn't a bad option.

Yelp
We came here around June and it felt like this was someone's backyard. There wasn't much to see, but I'm not much a flower person, although, I did see some I like. My mum on the other hand had fun and took lots of pics of various flowers. Also, there was a wedding reception happening on the same day.

Yelp
After a day of eating and walking around in Flushing, we decided to burn off some extra calories at the QBG which was a short walk and an even quicker drive over from Flushing Main Street. Luckily, it was Wednesday after 3pm so there was free admission. I liked that there was ample parking available and the garden was quite peaceful. However, as a regular BBG goer, I had to say I was unimpressed with the size and variety of plants at the QBG. The Rose Garden was currently filled with tulips which were very bright and colorful and rose trellises but I would have liked some more flowers or foliage as most of the space felt inhabited by empty soulless lawn. The Cherry Circle had like two cherry trees in bloom and so many people were waiting in line to snap a selfie. It was definitely a far cry from the Cherry Esplanade at the BBG. I agree with the Yelper who said it felt more like a park than a botanical garden. It's a very underrated and peaceful oasis but honestly I don't think I would be interested in going unless there is free admission (currently Sundays 9-11a and Wednesdays 3-6p). You could walk through the whole thing in an hour easy.

Yelp
It's sad to see that the garden hasn't been fully cleaned. The pools that used to have coy fish are now empty and dirty. Also parts of the main walkway was covered in weeds. I guess this may reflect the city's financial difficulties. I used to consider the garden a hidden gem. Let's hope some improvements will happen soon!

Yelp
Very small garden. Not kept up very well. It just seemed like something was missing. Hopefully they will improve on it. Maybe they just need more volunteers.

Yelp
This immersive night walk uses light, audio & projection technologies to create a multi-sensory experience! Set off across the garden's celestial pathway to encounter the wonder of the stars. An extraordinary place, a garden right here on earth that shares a special connection with the sky above.

Yelp
The Astra Lumina is this beautiful light show at the botanical garden. They have this event seasonal every year. For a date with my girlfriend this was such an amazingly beautiful vibe. It gave such a romantic feeling with all of the beautiful lights. From the sounds, lighting, it was so euphoric walking through here. I just wish it was longer as it only lasted 20 minutes.

Yelp
I went with my friends for the ASTRA LUMINA EVENT. AMAZING EXPERIENCE. Totally worth the wait and walking in the dark and cold evening

Yelp
Came here for a Halloween event with my family. It was so nice. They had a trick or treat trail and numerous food vendors. My niece and nephew enjoyed themselves. There were so many people dressed up. The event staff were great and very helpful.

Yelp
What a nice outing! Definitely worth a visit. Opens at 8, which is great for families with young kids, if I don't say so myself. We arrived around 9 and parked in the neighborhood; we got in without anyone asking for admission. (We weren't sure if it was a timing thing or if we just got lucky.) There's also paid parking within the gates. I see what some other reviewers say about it feeling like a park, but I'd say that's true for just some of the area. Toward the back are tons of nice plants and landscaping. Overall, the style is pretty "wild" and less traditional for a botanical garden, which I really enjoyed. There are plenty of places to sit, and lots of paths were occupied by people dancing and exercising this given Sunday morning. The wedding garden, which was closed off for a wedding, looked like a true oasis from the city. The children's garden, also closed by a gate, might mainly be used for programming but looked a lot of fun and a great place to learn. We can't wait to come back and stroll here.

Yelp
A great outdoor space with lots of different species of plants. Love the bee hives/nest for honey. Lots of beautiful scenery and plants, very relaxing environment. Would recommend to anyone looking to get inspiration from Mother Nature.

Yelp
Honestly, this place was underwhelming. As someone who was born and raised in Queens and has lived here her whole life, I'm surprised I never paid a visit to the Queens botanical garden. I came here using the cultural pass from the Queens library, which allowed me to visit for free with up to 4 guests. The place was smaller than expected. Since it was September, I'm assuming that's why I didn't nearly see as many interesting plants that are usually around during the spring/summer months. I did enjoy seeing some of the herbs growing in the vegetable garden. I noticed a lot of the flowers can probably be found in people's front yard or sold at the Home Depot; it was very generic flowers. Again, I'm assuming it's probably the timing that contributed to this. I have looked at some of the other pictures people posted on Yelp during May and it's a more beautiful scenery. Nonetheless, I tried to make the most out of it. Me and my sister visited most of the different garden sections available that day. We also came across the 'wedding garden', which has this beautiful gazebo and pretty florals throughout. I saw other people perusing around here and it didn't look like a wedding was taking place. Unbeknownst to us, there was a wedding reserved for that day (but was long finished before we came) and a worker shouted from the distance in his park vehicle. Ugh, I mean we didn't get in trouble but that definitely ruined my mood. As someone who's always cautious of getting reprimanded, this annoyed me. Not to mention there were a whole bunch of other people there too, but I of all people happened to catch the worker's attention. The visitors' section was closed at the time we went. There are also some cool ponds and fountains here which are very pretty. Since this is very close to Chinatown, Flushing (ok 15 minute walk but still), it's good to peruse the area for different Asian cuisine. I went to Spring Shabu Shabu for hot pot after my visit. Well worth it! Maybe I'll come back to Queens botanical garden during the warmer months. Maybe.

Yelp
The Astral Lumina light show event was underwhelming. The price was really high for a mediocre activity. The one in Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a much more sophisticated, elegant display with a lot more content. The upswing for the Queens one was the staff was all extremely friendly, parking was easy (not cheap though), and it was pleasant to be outside. Would suggest a more robust program to update this average event.
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I got married here in October! The staff were very professional and pleasant to work with. We brought our own catering and our event went off without any major issues. It rained that day, but the venue was still beautiful and memorable.

Yelp
Yesterday was perfect weather to stroll through the garden and attend the Orchid Show. Knowing that the orchids from the show would go on sale at the end (4pm), I planned us to get there before closing. It all worked out as planned. Arrived at 3:10 with a short social distance line, we observed the show and I took pictures of a few I intended to purchase. The flowers were beautiful and really made my day. I really needed to get out of the house.

Yelp
Always looking forward beautiful places to walk and what's better than having a beautiful garden in our own borough to enjoy especially for FREE. My friend and I were planning to take a walk in flushing meadow park but she said "I think QBG is free til April 1st". Checked on the website and indeed it was. Not only that but parking was free as well! Score since we tried looking for street parking but couldn't find any. the garden is not too big but there were a good amount of people walking, dancing and kits hanging out on the benches. We walked around a couple times admiring the pretty flowers. Two or three of the cherry blossoms are in bloom. We were hoping for more. We watched a couple women dancing and that was fun. It was a very pleasant stroll.

Tomo N.

Yelp
We had our wedding in November here, and it was a fantastic experience. The color of the leaves were just right. Kamaria, our contact person who supported us throughout the journey, was so lovely, helpful and was really on top of things. Having her guidance really helped the event goes smoothly.

Yelp
I recently visited the Queens Botanical Garden for the first time. It is located in the Flushing neighborhood and a great stop after lunch. Although I was hoping to see a variety of plants, I was disappointed to find only a small section for sale. However, admission is free until the end of March and the garden offers free events. During my visit, there were scavenger hunts, story times, live music, a cherry blossom plant-making activity, and food and drinks from a separate venue. Parking may be challenging to find if you're looking for a close-by spot. Masks are still required inside and they have a water bottle refill station. Signs are available in multiple languages in restrooms.
google avatar

Nichelle W.

Yelp
We had a great day today, the rain stopped upon entering the premises and I made Sam we just about every sign stop that. I love it when there's almost no one in the park. I love seeing the bare branches and still be able to smell the flowers.
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
I came here one day because I had a free pass from my job. Although it is not grand or unique in comparison to the other NYC botanical gardens, it holds a special place in my heart. This location is small and tucked away in a busy area. There are MANY couples on dates on any given weekday and it is nice to people watch. Whenever I was given the opportunity, it was the best place to recenter myself and meditate. If you are in the area, please come visit. You won't regret it!
google avatar

Yelp
A little bit of greenery in the middle of Queens. A mini oasis, away from the hustle and bustle of the city who is rushing to go places. This botanical garden has mini versions of a few features. A small shallow waterfall/ flow feature, starts you off at the front door. It's surrounded by a small garden of peonies, which are pretty beautiful when in full bloom, which is around May/ June. Unfortunately they aren't really that taken care of and their big beautiful heady blooms flop over from the weight of the huge flowers. Walk further into the garden and you will hit the rose garden. They have quite a variety of different types and so beautiful when in full bloom. (Check website to find out when). Around the middle of the garden, you will see the beautifully manicured wedding garden. Access is forbidden unless you have an appointment or are there to attend a wedding. It's secured off by huge bushes and white fencing. Peeking through the bushes, you can see a white wedding arch and many white chairs lined up in rows. Another short walk away, if you look carefully, you can see a small arrangement of wooden beehives, hidden behind a metal fence and some bushes. They also have a tiny vegetable garden. Let's see how many you can identify. A few statues here and there, decorate the garden. Final note: Its not much, be its a nice little quick getaway from the steel beams and exhaust fumes of the city. Go in, on Sunday before 11am and admission is free. It's a bit of a walk to Flushing's chinatown so after you're done at the botanical garden, walk over there and fill your tummy with good eats. They have a pumpkin patch event coming up on Saturday October 12 and Monday October 14.

Yelp
I read a lot of reviews prior to coming here and many complained they didn't like it because it's too small. I disagree I think it being smaller makes it better. It didn't feel like a tourist trap. Ton of locals here made it feel comfortable. One thing I liked was how fresh the air was ,unfortunately masks are still being worn everywhere but it's safe to take it off with nobody around in my opinion to smell the flowers and trees. Many people also said it's like a park but I think a lot of people didn't take the time to stop and read the small signs and labels , you would be surprised at how many various different trees and plants there are. One thing I noticed though was how most of the flowers were wilted or dry/looked dead. Maybe it's because it's not spring but I don't know. I definitely enjoyed it and loved seeing the bees and small herbs too. Make sure to explore the whole area because it was my first time here and I was walking around in circles near the entrance at the beginning.

Yelp
Now that I live in Brooklyn, I've been volunteering here for movie nights. It's $15.00 dollars per person, price includes a $5.00 voucher for appetizers and popcorn. Most items are $1.00, including soft drinks. Some other drinks can be $2 or $3.00. Tonight is movie number 4. A nightmare before Christmas and 10/30 will be coco. Which is the last movie. They open the gates, and you pick a spot on the grass area in front of screen. Lay out blanket or chair. Some walk around a little before movie starts. I'll definitely will enjoy tonight's movie, hopefully it won't get cancel again due to weather.

Yelp
Far from being the Mecca of Gardens, the Queens version may be behind the New York and Brooklyn versions but it's still a nice place to spend an afternoon in Queens. The Queens Botanical Garden is kept well with a few key area of interest including the bee house, herb garden, veggie/fruit garden, the wedding gardens and a composting area. In terms of square footage, Queens may not be very large and this isn't a destination garden but if in the vicinity on a nice day, pack a lunch and visit.
google avatar

Jando S.

Yelp
A green oasis in the middle of Flushing, the Queens Botanical Garden offers a nice alternative to the Chinatown scene that Flushing has become known for. QBG still enjoys the distinction of "hidden gem" status despite being *the* botanical garden of the borough. There are all sorts of interesting things to see here. It's not just a literal garden with interesting plants (#1) but the eco-community and various programs they've established is fantastic. There are activities for anyone with a green thumb and especially for anyone who is interested in learning more about the environment and plant life. Hence, this spot is kid friendly, group friendly, and a fun place to venture solo as well. The other interesting thing is that the QBG does a great job of changing it up every season. It never looks the same whenever I'm here and I've been impressed with their usage of the space. Everything from private events to photo sessions, they've proven their versatility in so many aspects. They also have volunteer programs, group tours, summer programming, and year round membership. Get a dose of nature and learn about the environment through this beautiful place that the borough is so lucky to have. ___________ (#1) Although that is also a thing.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place for a peaceful still. There's lots of greenery and walking paths but the exhibit are small compared to other gardens. There's Efi o programs and admissions is affordable and parking is available. There are certain hours and days where admissions is free to the public. During the fall and winter months, there's very little to see but it's still a nice place to take a walk and it's free to enter.
google avatar

James I.

Yelp
If you are a nature who enjoys beautiful flowers you should definitely visit Queens Botanical Gardens. A lot of great photo opportunities too, if you are into photography as well.

Skylar W.

Yelp
The Queens Botanical Garden is a nicely maintained garden but was a bit on the small and underwhelming side. We just popped in to check it out since it was near our bus stop. There weren't a lot of flowers in bloom which I wasn't expecting since it was early July. It does look like there's a beautiful wedding garden area but since there was a reception in progress we didn't get to check it out. Overall the garden was nice to stop by but I wouldn't plan a day around going to it.
google avatar

Melissa H.

Yelp
I don't want to bad mouth a garden but this is not a big or nice as the Brooklyn Botanical garden or the New York botanical garden in the Bronx. But still worth the trip. Great to sit and have lunch.
google avatar

Giacomo C.

Yelp
More like 3.75 stars. The Queens Botanical Garden is so small, that any attempt to compare it with the Bronx and/or Brooklyn Botanical Gardens is absurd. This green space doesn't even get close to offer what the other two do, both in terms of size and variety. You can easily stroll it in less than 1 hour... taking your sweet time. Nevertheless, it's still worth a trip, especially on Sunday morning 9-11, when the admission ticket (usually $6) is free (from April to October). My favorite spot is the Wedding Garden, which is only accessible, I guess, when you are invited to a wedding there. Peaceful... except for the planes flying over toward LGA airport. Yup... loud.

Yelp
It had been literally 39 or 40 years since I'd last gone there, but we finally got around to visiting today and we really enjoyed it. Indeed it's much smaller than the (huge) Bronx Botanical Garden and even the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, but it's certainly worth visiting (we were there for nearly 1 1/2 hours and that was enough time to see everything). There's still a lot in bloom and everything was pretty & colorful, plus it's all beautifully maintained. Also, the staff were exceptionally friendly. We purposely visited on a Wednesday afternoon, since there's free admission from 3-6 p.m. (as with Sundays from 9-11 a.m.). However, note that there's still a ($6) charge for parking.

Yelp
Unbelievable winter day- high 50's and what a better way to enjoy it but to visit a botanical park. Although flowers and trees branches were no where to be seen, breathing fresh air and the excitement feeling that soon will be spring made me stop by at this park. It's been a while that I haven't visited this place. I could use a walk during this no work day (president's day) anyway. Glad that during this off-peak season visit , they put up an exhibit in their main building of a popular photographer and his photographs concentrated on two of my favorite Queens neighborhood- the LIC and Astoria. It gave me a reason to stay a little longer than planned. The park has free admission until spring kicks in and definitely coming back to enjoy what this palce offers.

Yelp
I love Flushing. No, not that kind of flushing, silly. Am referring to a certain vibrant Queens neighborhood, known primarily for its diverse 'n delicious Chinese food scene. Alas, my main partners in crime, aka hubby and kid, don't quite share my enthusiasm. Thus, if I want them to join me, I sometimes have to employ an evil scheme to entice them. In this case, I lured them with the promise of nature, what with this being located along the more quiet part of Flushing's Main Street: Anyway, hubby, kid and I were here in mid-October sometime, not long before free admission kicks in, apparently from November - March. Clearly, we need to work on our timing. That said, we enjoyed the tranquil hour or so we spent walking the grounds. Yes, tranquil! In Flushing! For that alone, this place was worth the price of admission. We also, miraculously, given that it was autumn and all, happened upon some gorgeous, still-blooming lavender daisies. Even more miraculously, they were inundated with swarms and swarms of butterflies! Aside from this, a lot of the plants we encountered, including those at a cute, little herb garden were either kaput or on the verge. We were able to find street parking, since as I mentioned, this is located in the more low key part of Flushing. The Botanical Garden also provides an on-site lot, fwiw. If you're a greenery fanatic, this won't even remotely compare with the BK Botanical Garden, or from what I hear, the one in the Bronx. If, however, your true goal is good eats, then this isn't very far from a bunch of worthy Flushing food stops, including Yeh's Bakery for Boston Creme Pie, Kung Fu for Soup Dumplings and in the opposite direction, Patel Brothers, for cheap spices, along with numerous options as you continue to walk past Patel. And now back to that aforementioned evil scheme of mine. When we were done soaking up nature, I was all, "Honey (looks innocent), why don't we just grab some dinner nearby?" Can I just say, it worked like a charm.:)

Yelp
Earlier this year I had a day to myself, the kind of day that I wanted to be outside but not entirely sure how to spend it. Traipsing around looking at flowers ? Sit on a bench and read my book? I did that and took some nice photos as well. If you haven't taken a moment to enjoy a quiet moment inside a busy city, I suggest you do it here. Butterflies galore in the springtime and nature's beauty, breathe it in.

Yelp
MEH is definitely a good way to describe this place. I was extremely underwhelmed. I would definitely call this more of a park than a botanical garden.

Yelp
I give this garden a solid 3.5 because it's hard to get to and pretty small. But once you're here is very pretty. The main garden is like a french country side. I went last year in July and everything was in full bloom, but went again this year in late May and not much was blooming yet and nothing really to see. There's a pretty fountain at the main entrance, but every time I've been here there was a least 4 kids jumping all over it and couldn't get any good photos.

Yelp
We absolutely love this place. Had our wedding ceremony here a few years ago. We make it a habit to come when they have special events. Usually there's a Xmas event or lunar new year event as well. It does have adequate green space. Most of time if we're not here for a special event, it's just nice to stroll around the garden

Yelp
This is a pretty sweet little botanical garden. However, I think that it functions more as a park than as a botanical garden, meaning it is a better place for just enjoying the outdoors than trying to learn about botany. We paid just $4 for admission with our student IDs. Regular adult admission is $6/per. They do have free admission days; I believe it is Wednesday and Sunday for a certain number of hours - call to confirm! On a Saturday morning, we were easily able to procure street parking along one side of the park. There is a parking lot available though, which I believe is free with the price of admission. Again, double check this since I didn't park in the lot. However, finding street parking shouldn't be difficult. There are a few cool fountain/running water installations, but I think the most interesting thing to see in the garden is the administrative and visitor's building which was designed very thoughtfully. More information can be found on a placard outside the building. They use all recycled water in the bathrooms and in addition to recycled building material, it also has a green roof! In addition to this building, I was most impressed with the herb garden, where we found a ton of different types of herbs growing together Everything looked extremely healthy and the wildlife wasn't bad either - we found a camouflaged lizard! I also found some awesome (and cheap) air plants in their gift shop! I wasn't sure if they were on sale, but I asked and when they told me how much they were, I had to take them home!! They are also still having an orchid sale as of 9/2/2017, so if you are in the market for some beautiful pots of flowers, head on over!

Yelp
Second week in New York and decided to venture out to a place that isn't to far away from my new home. Gardens are well manicured, pathways are clear, and the walk through the various gardens was very serene and peaceful. Parking is $8 and the entry fee is $6. The entry fee is good for all day so I was able to leave out the Main Street entrance to search for lunch, and return to continue my tour of the gardens. I wore bug repellent which worked well on the first leg of the trip. It was hot and sunny for most of the commute, but there was shade and a nice cool breeze. The repellent wasn't as effective on the return (after lunch) so I would suggest using bug repellent and keeping it with you if it's hot to avoid being pestered before completing the self guided tour of the gardens. They have outdoor bathrooms (Porto potties), however they also have indoor restrooms in the gift /information center (preferred).

Yelp
Much smaller than the Botanical Garden in the Bronx. However, it is still a beautiful and relaxing place to walk around with a good variety of flowers to look at. I also noticed that they have a garden that they rent out for events like weddings. This is not really a place one should go out of their way to visit - it's basically just a nice park with greater of plants. Pretty easy to get to - It took me less than 10 minutes to walk here from the Main Street 7 train stop.
