On the Grid : Queen's Park Books

"A rare find these days, this independent book shop offers over 10,000 hand curated titles of all genres. The staff are highly knowledgable and are able to order US imports as well as sourcing rare and out of print titles. Reply: Thank you for reaching out in light of this review, but I suspect my line of contact may be with the staff I encountered. Original review: Despite having a great collection of books, we couldn't ignore the two staff members. With one of the members speaking down to their staff, and the other making a questionable comment. I know this is a well respected book shop, but having staff members talk like that, not only to one another, but also their own staff, leaves a sour taste. I won't be rushing back here anytime soon.

Lovely place to browse. Staff is helpful if needed, but not pushy if not. The selection of beautiful children books is fantastic, but also the adult section is great. You'll find books about the local neighbourhood, but also classics or the newest bestsellers, as well as gifts, wrapping papers and the most wonderful postcards.

A beautiful neighbourhood bookshop which is packed with a range new releases and more obscure titles. I saw lots of books that I have struggled to find elsewhere.

We love this independent book shop. Our favourite little local pop in, always wonderful books on display, an inspiring place to shop and be.

Yelp
Petit bookshop with neatly stacked books. Easy to navigate round. They have a great little childrens area too. Obviously not a huge selection, but the latest And popular books are for sale. Queen's Park books was nice to come to after a Sunday shopping at the farmer market and then having lunch at Hugo's.

Yelp
It's a cute little bookshop in a posh part of town with a lovely selection and nice decor. But why meh? well... I was looking for a new book to read. I had a few different options in mind. I asked the women behind the counter if they had them in. They looked them up, said no, offered to order them for me, but that's it. I mean, yes they were nice and offered to special order as well, but to really make this place that little bit special I would have liked them to at least try and see if I would be interested in similar suggestions. Try to understand what sort of book I was looking for and see if there was anything similar in the store. But nope, they looked them up, politely said no and went about their conversation again. I guess they get enough business from the locals to not need to spend that extra time on people. It's a shame.

Yelp
Great little book shop hidden away in Queens Park. For a small shop it has a great range of books and incredibly knowledgable and friendly staff. It most certainly caters for the eclectic funky mix of people in the area. If you want a break from the large and often impersonal chainstores then its a nice place for a browse. With Starbucks next door, Baker and Spice a few doors away, the Salisbury pub across the road and only a two minute walk to the fabulous Queens Park - you're never far from a watering hole or place to chill out with your new purchase. Enjoy!
