LOVE this cafe. My boyfriend and I are vegan and have been here several times. The brekkie is amazing (no upcharge for vegan substitutions) and the Jack B Toona is absolutely incredible, highly recommend. The staff is always extremely kind and the atmosphere is out of this world! So fun and unique.

Quite literally the cutest cafe you can ever visit. The vibe is simply immaculate. Attention to detail was placed in everything. The plants and curated merchandise were all adorable. The coffee was delicious and they had creative and fun syrup flavors. Looks like everything is plant based as well! Very welcoming with free WiFi and friendly staff. Don’t sleep on this place, it’s one of the best in Portland.

Reasonable prices for extraordinary food. I love all the merch, plants, zines, etc. scattered all over the shop. Almost everything is for sale! We tried a couple of their bagels and the coffee was on point. Friendly barista and cashier person answered a few random requests, which always a huge plus.

Such a whimsical wonderland of plants and delicious coffee! I had a caramel/cardamom iced oat milk latte and it was fantastic!!! The food looks good, but didn’t eat here. Lots of plants to purchase, as well as many other things plant lovers could ask for!! Great gift options! So glad to have them in the neighborhood!!

Food was pretty good but coffee was amazing. Atmosphere was super cute. Lots of cool plants and art to buy. Lots of books to read. Place was packed

Love the vibe! Super friendly and good breakfast choices. Dog friendly too. Have a pup bowl but they made a scrambled egg for my little ones.

Google
I popped in before my pup Laverne’s grooming appointment nearby and wow, what a little gem. I always get nervous about whether she can join me inside but they were so warm and welcoming. We grabbed a cozy spot outside, I had my cup of joe (perfectly smooth and rich) and a quick breakfast snack, and suddenly my morning felt like a mini vacation. The vibe is bright and playful, the folks running it are genuinely lovely, and it feels like one of those spots where you can exhale and just enjoy yourself. 🌸🐾 If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and swing by. Bring your pup for extra smiles.

Google
The spiciest (in a good way) chai latte I've ever had. Super smooth Coava coffee. And delicious bagels with fun toppings. You get a tarot card as your table number which I thought was clever. Lovely plants everywhere. Nice staff. This place was well thought out!

Yelp
Fantastic ambiance! Plat friendly food! Amazing place to spend the afternoon! Walking into Queer Plant Café feels like stepping into a little oasis of color, kindness and green magic. The place is cozy and packed with plants everywhere, it's like the café itself is alive and vibing with you. The crew is super chill and welcoming, you feel safe and included the second you walk in. It's not just coffee here, it's community. Food and drinks hit the spot. The menu has solid plant-based choices and you can tell they care about the details. My latte was smooth and on point, and the vibe of the space makes everything taste better. This spot isn't just for grabbing a drink. It's for slowing down, feeling seen and soaking up the good energy. Definitely worth checking out if you want a place that's beautiful and full of heart.

Yelp
NE 42nd delivers another winner. Super cute cafe that's much more than food and drink. Friendly staff, comfy chairs, just a good vibe. The hearty Gaia Bowl with plant base sausage popped with flavor, good portion, good value. The Coava Unparalleled Focus coffee/espresso didn't quite satisfy so I'll opt for something else next time. Buy a plant on the way out.

Yelp
I happened upon this as I was waiting for my dog's meet and greet down the street. The name grabbed me on the way and I found the inside to be so charming and welcoming. It was full of color and dripping in plants. The staff were really friendly and I loved the idea of the cards that they give you instead of a number while waiting for your order. I tried something new and went with the Saparilla Spice Latte at the recommendation of the barista. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan. I thought the oak milk flavor overwhelmed anything but the spice. I thought this would be mostly flavor spicy, but it was actually REALLY hot spicy. I couldn't actually finish it between not being thrilled with the flavor and the spiciness. I would come back and try a latte, perhaps with their house made butterscotch and rosemary syrup, but I likely won't go too far out of my comfort zone next time.

Yelp
I finally had a chance to stop in here and have coffee with a friend the other day. I have walked by several times and have wanted to check things out and this local queer business. I am glad that we had a chance to support this eclectic coffee shop/plant store. This shop has a uniquely Portland vibe, yet I've never experienced anything quite like it before -- the lighting, the soft puffy clouds on the ceilings.l the variety of plants and planters area a real draw during these dark, winter days. The owner and staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. They have a good selection of coffee and teas and a smaller selection of baked goods. My dirty chai was great as well as the muffin. With tip it came to around $17 and some change. I have to admit that was a bit of a sticker shock to me. But on the plus side, my friend and I got to enjoy our time together in this beautifully curated space and the other customers seemed to appreciate this comfy space as well. I am sure as a small business there must be a struggle and balance of determining prices. For me, I will make time to support their business, especially in this political climate. I have seen so many cool local businesses close and I want to make sure that I am mindful of helping small businesses blossom (pun intended) in our city.

Yelp
This place is a great addition to the street. Nice hang out cafe to enjoy coffee type drinks , breakfast and lunch. Very veggie and vegan friendly but also have some meat options so a good place to hang out with people with different diets. Service and staff are great and make me look forward to my next visit.

Yelp
I found my weekly go to cafe! I love love love the cozy and inviting atmosphere. The food was excellent. I only wish it was open a little longer in the day! Also I love that the default milk is oat milk.

Yelp
There are no words to adequately express how much I love this place. The drinks were delicious and cute, the food was delicious and cute, the ambiance and decor were adorable, thematic, and tasteful, and the service was astounding. I came to this delightfully chill cottagecore cafe with a friend to study for an upcoming exam, and we stayed here pretty much all day. They have a sizeable dining area with low top tables and bar style seating by the window as well as patio seating in the sun outside. I didn't notice any shade or covering, so outdoor seating may not be a viable option in hot or wet weather. They have a unique if not modest menu of food and drinks, as well as a wide assortment of intriguing plants and plant themed merchandise. I had the cardamom latte and the loaded oasis on an everything bagel. My friend had the rosemary butterscotch latte and the same bagel. Throughout the day we also had some tea, and some sake. We were both blown away by how good our breakfast was. I had to pause after my first bite because I was stunned at how tasty and complex it was. My friend said the same thing about her latte. I really appreciated the pleasant but not too distracting music, and the friendliness of the employees. It seems to me that they are well loved in their neighborhood, as friends and regulars popped in throughout the day. Aside from the amazing food and drinks, what is going to get me to go back is the wide variety of plant themed merchandise and plants they have. Worth noting that every plant has its own name, and they have a clever system that they've implemented of color coded name tags that denote which plants are on sale any given day of the week. I loved this. They also have maybe the widest variety of plant based milks I've ever seen available at a cafe. I personally got hemp milk, which is my favorite milk alternative but I literally NEVER see at coffee shops. The only feedback I would provide is that they ran out of everything bagels pretty early in the day, and as their business picks up (which I have no doubt that it will!) they should proactively address increasing demands on their inventory. The chairs were also a bit uncomfortable, if not very cute. Overall, I would have given more than 5 stars if I could. This place is fantastic and I will absolutely be back.

Yelp
Stranded at PDX during a long layover, Dave K picked me up to go to breakfast and see a few sights. Queer Plants Café was a perfect choice. The Portland neighborhood reminds me of growing up in Berkeley with its laidback, bohemian vibe. Queer Plants Café fits right in. Colors and live plants are everywhere. The bright morning ambiance is completely inviting. The caffe latte hit the spot after a sleepless night in EWR and a transcontinental flight. The Brekkie Breakfast Sandwich was really good and gone quickly. It was such a healthy vegan sandwich although I probably hurt myself by adding sausage. With its friendly service, I'd be a regular here just like my friend. I'd have to move to Portland though. Hmm.

This cafe is so fun! I enjoyed looking around at the plants and other little trinkets while waiting for my coffee. The coffee was also pretty solid and the service was great!

Yelp
What a rad spot. The bullseye of everything my partner loves. Coffee and plants plus gays?! Yes, please. More of that. We love their food too. Bagels are delicious and the owners, as to be expected, are fab. Give them your money and your loyalty. Cheers!

ITS SO CUTE i love it! it's such a comfy and cute work space or even to hang out! The owners are super friendly, kind, and welcoming! The matcha tastes so yummy too. You can tell it's good quality. The plants surrounding you are so calming. definitely coming back!

Yelp
Excellent service, great vibe for working or chatting, delicious food with many vegan and gluten free options, and some fantastic dirty chai! Will definitely return to this cozy spot

Yelp
The customer service here is the best I've ever seen. I get really bad anxiety, so I usually look at the menu online when I eat out. I didn't this time, and the cashier was so kind about leading me through their menu. I've never felt so heard and welcome before. 10/10 would recommend again

Yelp
Magical place. Colorful lights everywhere. Majority plant based food and drink. Oat milk lattes, roma tomato bagels, lox bagels. Book shelf. Just all around wonderful.

Sabrina H.

Yelp
Such a unique and lovely spot. Amazing food, amazing service, amazing plants, amazing local art, amazing vibe. The Hen & Chic sandwich is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Food and beverages are made with love and care, and the staff/owners are so sweet and genuinely dedicated. 10/10, wish I lived in Portland so I could come here all the time!

Bri B.

Yelp
Undeniably the best environment, ambiance, and energy I've ever seen in the service industry. I appreciated the photos along with descriptions of food, all the plants, CLOUDS?! And endless details were stunning. The owner was calm and had such a nice energy. I was told they were in the process of ordering More Plants! I wish I was in town long enough to see how it could look like more of a jungle. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Oregon!

Yelp
Small cozy places, just perfect after hitting the gym early. Coffee is really good and they have a good variety of non-dairy beverage. The plants are cute, as all the decoration of the places. Food looked amazing, didn't try it

Yelp
Absolutely loved the set up and atmosphere in this coffee shop. The coffee was amazing and I especially enjoyed the plants all over the place. It was such an open space, loved the presentation of the coffee and how nice the employees were. Definitely a must try and sit down when in Portland!

Kyle M.

Yelp
Great food! Charming quirky, bohemian atmosphere. Cheerful, gracious service. Small space with limited seating, so be patient.

Glenn W.

Yelp
Hate to neg a place we so wanted to like, but you should know it's expensive ($15 for two simple lattes) and they charge extra for cow's milk, which also earned us a dirty look from the barista when we requested it. Coffee was just average.
google avatar

Jason R.

Yelp
Delicious food, coffee and pastries in a super cozy, plant filled space. Perfect for a late Sunday morning pick-me-up. Ross and Ernest have made this place a goto in NE Portland.
google avatar

Laurel K.

Yelp
Love the space and the owners of the cafe were so welcoming. The oat milk iced latte had a strong flavor profile: sweet, nutty and dark. Plants everywhere you look! We will look forward to visiting this spot again!
google avatar

Dennis O.

Yelp
Very pleasant space, a mixture of comforting and futuristic. Employees were very friendly and helpful. And handsome!
google avatar

Nick D.

Yelp
Good coffee, an expanding food menu, and nice plants- I have a baby pineapple named Doc I bought there two months ago who is thriving. They redecorated with a welcoming vibe doing justice to the prior Mrs. Zumstein space. These gentlemen are a great addition to our neighborhood collection of small businesses! Stop by and support them

Katy B.

Yelp
Literally the BEST coffee! That and great staff and amazing vibe. Love having them in the neighborhood!
google avatar

Jazmine K.

Yelp
Splendidly sweet hosts, wonderful food and the cutest environment!!! Definitely a must-go if you're in town!!
google avatar

Yelp
While visiting Portland I went to this totally adorable cafe! The ambience makes you feel like you are in a magical, futuristic, plant conservatory! I had their nightshade stew and it's amazing! The owners are super sweet, and I will be sure to come back on my next visit!

Scott B.

Yelp
Queer Plants Cafe has the best energy for both meeting up with a friend and getting some work done on your laptop. Go in for a coffee and leave with a plant and a merman sticker. The owners are so knowledgeable about the plants, be sure to ask them about their names :-). I'll for sure be back.

Yelp
Great environment and wonderful tasting food. Very unique flavor profile and a place to be your creative self.
