Quickie Pickie - Review - East Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"Quickie Pickie is where you go fully intending to just pick up a box of Good Pops and a bottle of wine, until you find yourself having lunch or dinner on the patio without realizing how or why. This high-end convenience store and all-day cafe has two locations now, but the original on East 11th is the more low-key of the two and is a great place to grab a sandwich, salad, or burger on the patio. Just make sure you don’t forget about the popsicles slowly melting in the bag by your feet." - Adele Hazan

Google
This place is brilliant. It's basically every person's dream taco deli bar with 27 beers on tap. Huge tacos with some of the most delicious sauces. Super friendly place to get some roadies while waiting on the Franklin BBQ line. We called this the quickie pickle for a long time. I think the name will stick.

Google
Terrible customer service. I guess the cashier, Alexa, didn’t feel like working this morning. I ordered the breakfast tacos, which were listed online for $3.00, but she charged me $4.00. When I questioned the price difference, she just told me the online price was wrong—no apology, no explanation. On top of that, the cook in the back was giving me dirty looks like I was trying to steal something. Completely unprofessional. I could’ve easily taken my business across the street and now I definitely will. I won’t be coming back.

Mid. Reviews are right as in, staff is not the friendliest, at least during lunch time. Guy didn’t say a word as I ordered and threw the pager on the counter sliding toward me. Sandwich was good but was not on a baguette. Didn’t question anything as they were not in a mood to talk. Lots of staff, not much going on (2pm)

Google
One of my favorite spots to get breakfast tacos and coffee. The avocado taco might be my favorite. Tortillas are fresh and so tasty. All the ingredients are fantastic. Light roast drip coffee was so flavorful. Love coming here when in Austin. Also great stop to grab snacks before hitting the road.

Google
Loved their tacos! Service is pretty quick. Good parking spaces as well. Must try once.

Google
What a fun place. I stopped by for a quick taco and decaf mocha coffee. Both were 4.5 delicious out of 5 stars. Their food is yummy, but Austin has a ton of stellar taco places so the competition is intense. Quickie Pickie is located down the street from the GW Carver Museum which is great for grabbing good fun before or after visiting the museum. It is also way more comfortable than eating at the food truck park nearby.

Google
Such a cute little store that has some of the most friendly staff ever. The breakfast tacos are made to order, and are absolutely delicious. The best part of my visit was my iced chai. This place has the actual best chai I've ever tasted in my entire life! Absolutely worth a visit.

Google
First off, I am not a breakfast taco or burrito person but their breakfast tacos are something else! Visiting from CA and these are way better than what I have found out here. Don't come for me. Definitely a one stop shop for anything quick. It was just a few blocks from our Airbnb which made it even better.

Yelp
This is my neighborhood coffee shop and lunch take out spot. The coffee is great and the food is inexpensive and great quality!!!! Sarah and the girls are awesome. The scene is eclectic !!! East side neighborhood gem!!!

Yelp
Holy poo! My neighborhood bodega is better than your neighborhood bodega! For reals. Sure the e for your typical convenience store merch. But, they've also got made-to-order tacos (for brekkie, lunch, & dinner), sandwiches, salads, and more. Great selection of grab & go meals. Many beers on tap and a coffee shop. Everyone who works here is always so happy! I love coming here for a quick bite, coffee, or a beer.

Yelp
Quickie Pickie is a local gem! My husband & I had a long wait for Paper Boy -- the entire front patio was full of people waiting, so we decided to go elsewhere to wait. To our delight, we stumbled upon Quickie Pickie across the street and I'm SO happy we did! We got some bottled water and electrolytes to quench our thirst & stay hydrated in the Austin summer heat. Then, we decided to try an avocado taco as a tie me over! One word: WOW. The taco was fresh, jam-packed and absolutely deliciousssss! It was so good, I thought about changing our plans and said, "We might as well do brunch here!" We decided to get another taco and tried the potato, egg, cheese taco and added pico de gallo! Another yummy choice that was filled with all kinds of taco goodness. I have never seen a taco this filled before -- it should be the standard of all tacos in Austin! The salsa is fresh, authentic, and they also have another unique choice that is on the sweeter side. Also, we had the raspberry matcha and it was fantastic! To top it all off, the customer service was excellent! They ladies were so sweet and kind. And there are options to sit inside in the a/c or outside in a covered area that has some fans! Quickie Pickie seems unassuming, yet will give you an amazing mom & pop type of local experience and fresh, flavorful food + you can get your convenience store needs -- all in one stop! I'm excited to try more of their tacos, we'll definitely be back!!

Yelp
I'd give 10 stars if I could. We've recently been coming to QP the last few weeks & we are HOOKED! The selection of items inside is fabulous. They have a lot of homemade desserts and sandwiches. What's really impressed us is the variety of CBD drinks, which you don't see a lot of. You can go on the patio and enjoy your drinks and snacks and people watch. The outside is super chill with good music. The staff is always friendly and helpful. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but today we had their balmorhea burger and man.. you just gotta try it. (also the fries were some of the best we've had in a long time). Thank you Quickie Pickie for being our new favorite spot!

Yelp
This place is sooo cute! Like a restaurant and gas station in one. Came here for breakfast and the sandwich on a bagel and Carmel iced coffee were delicious! The lady at the counter wasn't super nice but it was also busy. I will definitely be coming here again!
google avatar

Yelp
The Tacos here are AMAZING. Very juicy and full of flavor, and really big for the price. It's a convenience store, but, the chicken and al pastor tacos are to die for. Service is excellent, and the ambiance is as if you were at any gas station, but this one is very clean and vibrant. They also have beers on tap.

Yelp
I had heard from locals about this place but always thought, "it's just a quick mart." Then I decided to stop in. Yes, you can buy any kind of wine and other refreshment here (options are stacked floor to ceiling, and it is a very good selection), but there is also a kitchen where you can order freshly made tacos of all kinds, sandwiches and breakfast dishes like migas. I found the food delicious and if you are hankering for a cup of coffee to go, you will find that here also. There are a few seats inside and on the patio. Don't let the name fool you, this is a wonderful spot for whatever reason you want to visit.

Yelp
Are you looking for a place you can grab absolutely whatever you need for the day? This is it! This local store has it all! Starting with Atx vibes. They offer coffee bar, groceries, outdoor sitting, brews & friendly employees. This cute little spot is located right in the heart of downtown Austin! If you are looking to experience Authentic Austin Culture, stop in and grab something. I promise, you'll keep going back. Support your Austin locals.. Coffee was fire(amazing) btw.

Yelp
Bottom Line: A small convenience store with a grill and draft beer. While visiting Austin my girlfriends and I made several visits to the Quikie Pickie for . . . Hmm . . . Lots of impulsive purchases. We liked the vibe of this tiny spot that includes a welcoming front porch. Our initial visit was for ice but subsequent visits were for entertainment purposes and included impulse purchases like canned coffee drinks, chips, cookies, fresh fruit and tacos. The Quickie Pickie has a grill offering made to order food like tacos and burgers and they also have a decent selection of beers on tap. Every time we went, even in the rain, there were people on the porch enjoy a meal, brew and the slower pace of life. The cashiers were friendly and overall each visit was a good experience. Parking out front is tight but there is more room the maneuver behind the market.

Yelp
Visiting from Dallas and originally was going to go to paperboy for brunch but it was too packed and noticed this place across the street. Immediately loved the ambiance and the food!

Yelp
Perhaps, an unexpected place to find fantastic tacos: a high-end bodega in East Austin. But let me assure you, they are fantastic. I had been there five times for other various sundries (a bottle of water, some kombucha, a highly coveted can of Lysol in the heat of the pandemic,) before I realized that they even had tacos. The line cooks are hard-working, the counter staff is more or less friendly, and they offer a kombucha on-tap. The Hackberry Taco (basically a Migas Taco plus avocado and poblano peppers) is tried and true -- each bite better than the last. I've been here for tacos about ten times and they're always consistent. Also, their Vegan Taco and the Fried Avocado are both great options if you've missed the Breakfast Menu window. Also, you'll find an exceptionally delicious variety of fresh salsas here. With PaperBoy and Hillside Farmacy both right across the street, Quickie Pickie tacos are a great brunch alternative if you happen to be shut out of the other two spots on a busy Sunday morning. The crowd is a hybrid between old austin hippie and new austin hipster. It's a nice balance. It looks like it may have opened around 2013 but to me, this feels like an Austin staple. [Ranked as #8 on my taco list of 152 locations: AustinTacoMojo.com]

Yelp
What a perfect little neighborhood bodega. The breakfast tacos and sandwiches were full of so much flavor and good portions. There is also a great selection of quick grocery options. Will be coming to this place every time I visit Austin.

Yelp
Really good sandwiches and the workers are really nice!! I also like the set up and how it looks, i normally eat togo but the outside seating is cool

Yelp
Friendly. Great tacos and prices. Nice patio - dog friendly air conditioning inside
google avatar

Yelp
This place is the one stop shop for all your needs. Coffee. Check. Beer. Check. Wine. Check. Tacos. Check. Service was great and I need to go back to try out the food. The Red Eye was legit and got me going again.

Yelp
Great food & service - Very cool interior - Authentic & hipster at same time . Eat in - casual Chill vibe Or take out All good

Yelp
I stopped by on a whim and had the Garden cold sandwich and added fries. There is not a sufficient variety of vegan options (had to modify the items), but my meal was good. Seating outside is close together but ample + there are several tables which is nice ! Seating inside is small as well. Just noting this in case you need to bring a large group. Inside there is a wide variety of snacks and alcohol z so that's a huge plus ! I recommend Quickie and will definitely be back .
google avatar

Amanda P.

Yelp
The vegetarian sandwich I had here was really good. It was going to be very hard, it ended up being quite soft and delicious. The iced latte I had here was really good as well. Service is very friendly and knowledgeable. Ambience is great with good music and indoor and outdoor seating. I like how convenient they are and that there is parking right out front
google avatar

Holly S.

Yelp
Quirky and cool grab and go with good coffee but even better breakfast tacos! These are no joke, I could only eat one in it's entirety my partner and I ordered Migas, two Original, and the Rosewood. Migas with the verde salsa was my favorite but the Chorizo on the original was amazing! Kind employees working hard and taking pride in their place made the experience even better! Make sure to try to creamy avocado sauce too!
google avatar

Silvia G.

Yelp
Great place! Super fast service and they have everything. Chai latte was one of the best I've ever had!

Yelp
Quickie Pickie is just an unassuming spot for a great experience - it's a combination of a small store, coffee shop, and mini-restaurant, and delivers on that combination in a great way. We initially stopped in after a nearby restaurant had a 1.5+ hour wait, and I'm really glad we did! The staff at Quickie Pickie is super friendly, and quite helpful in making suggestions for coffees and tacos as well. The tacos are pretty decently sized, so I'd say 2-3 would be a good quantity for the average person. I personally got 3 and was stuffed by the end of them. There are a good amount of small tables inside and outside so it was fairly easy for us to nab a spot even at lunch on a weekend. Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking out Quickie Pickie if you're in the area and looking for a bite to eat!
google avatar

Kunttal K.

Yelp
Breakfast tacos made with basic ingredients without any flavor. And the whole hipster "we don't care or want to answer any questions" is played out. Learn to have some basic customer service. And they messed up two breakfast sandwiches. The sandwiches were supposed to be on brioche buns but they decided to put one on plain white bread and one on wheat. Also didn't put on avocado after I paid for it.
google avatar

Calvin P.

Yelp
Great convenience store if you are on east neighborhood. Lots of options and also make some fresh food. As expected for a convenience store much of it is overpriced
google avatar

Emilee G.

Yelp
Quite literally the best breakfast Sandwich I've ever had. Life changing. I got the southern sandwich on a bagel, the red eye aioli is literally the best thing I've ever had. It is such a vibe in here and I would say this is true austin in its form, please never get rid of this place, I will always be back.

Anthony P.

Yelp
I used to enjoy this place a lot with hefty sized tacos and good brew. Unfortunately, there are a lot of peddlers who come in to harass customers asking customers to buy them food. If you tell then no, they get in your face in an aggressive way. When sharing this feedback with staff (owner wasn't around to listen to my feedback) I just got a shoulder shrug and " We can't do anything about it. That's the way it is". I don't find this response acceptable as every business has a right to refuse service to anyone, especially when customers are being harassed. Ower: You will always receive the behaviors you are willing to tolerate. Do better.
google avatar

Taylor W.

Yelp
Delightful place! I had the juniper breakfast taco, it was huge and delicious with four different salsa toppings to choose from. Can't wait to go back and try more of their breakfast tacos, they also have a great craft beer selection and plenty of seating inside and out.
google avatar

Monika D.

Yelp
I ended up stumbling upon this place while I was looking for a breakfast spot. Ordered two tacos- the original and the migas taco. Both were great. A delicious and quick stop if you're in the area. Had a pretty quick turnaround time. It looks like a family owned shop and everyone looked hard at work to make sure this place offered a great service! Friendly staff. Everything was made to order so you have to wait like 10/15 minutes but nothing too crazy. It's inside a small convenience store so if you're looking for something small, here's your stop!
google avatar

Natasha A.

Yelp
Such a dope ass place, it's a convenience store with the best bfast tacos you could ask for. The vegan options were good, fresh. Love the coffee options, spicy green sauce is probably the best in the city
google avatar

Manny G.

Yelp
Excellent spot to pick up some coffee or cold drinks. The employees are super friendly and the vibe is chill. You can sit outside and enjoy a drink.
google avatar

Swetha R.

Yelp
Quickie Pickie was an absolutely fantastic and convenient option that was near our Airbnb during our visit to Austin - we had breakfast tacos here almost every day and the sauce options were phenomenal! There is easy parking outside the building, wifi, and outdoor seating. Tacos came out steaming hot each time and the alcohol section had exactly what we needed. Quickie Pickie was a wonderful part of our trip!
google avatar

Erika G.

Yelp
Such a great cheese burger, fries were bomb. Service was great even when they had to re make my burger. I had a great day.

Joe G.

Yelp
Honestly, I came in just to look around because I always pass his place and don't know what it is. And I left with a slice of chocolate cake... MY GOD! I was blown away on how good this cake was, no kidding I'm sitting in the car housing this cake rn and I felt compelled to right a review because wowz! People were so kind girl at the register complimented my jacket :) the place has some really nice ambience what a vibe. Classic ATX spot!
google avatar

Bryan S.

Yelp
Over priced and I've never had an order completed with out it having issues. Most recently I had to wait an hour and 15 minutes for a sandwich and 3 tacos. What? An hour and 15 minutes. The store wasn't busy. They didn't put the ticket in was the excuse, but here I am having lost this time without them offering a discount, refund or even a damn apology. Hard pass on Quickie Pickie here forward.
google avatar

Bridget K.

Yelp
Being from out of town I think this is the coolest! A little grocery store with homemade food, outdoor/indoor seating and a dessert case! I felt like I walked into heaven. This kind of place is totally my jam! They have a wide variety of drinks and various snacks you can choose from, grab and go food and stuff they can make there. It's also in a great, easy to walk to location.
google avatar

Alysha M.

Yelp
Would definitely recommend if you want to sit with your laptop and get a little work done, have a beer or a coffee, just a place to stop in real quickkkk- no pun intended ;) But the food was not a great experience for me :( And there's not many seating options- uncomfortable and couldn't stay long because of that.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Came here after wishfully thinking we could walk into Paperboy on a Sunday morning... rookie move. Lucky for me, QP has some solid breakfast tacos and coffee! I will def be back for the tacos but might pass on the brioche breakfast sandwich, something about the bread didn't hit the spot. Good salsas too! Thank you Paperboy for the QP intro.
google avatar

Georgia S.

Yelp
A nice small shop. Costumer service is great and the hot food is amazing as well. Wine options are okay. Nice outdoor seating area in the front. I've been popping in and out here for a long time! 10/10
google avatar

Nathan F.

Yelp
I didn't quite know what to expect from this place since it was a convenient store/coffee shop/Taqueria. I was very pleasantly surprised! The coffee was excellent; they make fantastic cortados. The tacos Al pastor were fantastic!!!! I've not had tacos Al pastor this good since I backpacked across the state of Chihuahua, Mex. I travel a lot and have had tacos all across south and west Texas- these were the best! They are generous with portions too. If you're on the fence, get off of it and walk in...you'll be glad you did!!

Ashley R.

Yelp
LOVE this place. The commuter sandwich has changed my life. Love itttt. Please go here and eat their food

Stacey M.

Yelp
Wow! Such a great first time experience @ Quickie Pickie! The tacos ah-mazing and the coffee drinks superb! We enjoyed BEC and Bean & cheese tacos! Drinks: dirty chai tea latte and hazelnut latte.
google avatar

Catherine B.

Yelp
Decided not to go to Hillside Pharmacy because they only had the brunch menu unfortunately! We saw Quickie Pickie and decided to head on over. They have an incredible variety of national and international beers. I also appreciated the fact that they had a fridge where you could buy just a can. They also had a wide variety of red wines and non-alcoholic drinks. They provide free WiFi (password is winebeer) and have lots of seating inside and outside. This would be a great place to camp out with your computer and work offsite. There is a restaurant that serves hot food but you can also grab some quick refrigerated bites that are in a fridge on the right side of the place. I got the Waistline and it was pretty good, it was pretty dry. They serve their sandwiches with ruffle-style potato chips. I wouldn't come back for the sandwich but I do appreciate the beer variety!
google avatar

Lauren C.

Yelp
Passing by and decided to stop for breakfast. I ordered a classic bagel egg and cheese sandwich and an iced matcha latte. My matcha latte was sooooo good! It wasn't too powdery and it was the right amount of sweet. My sandwich was good, you can't go wrong with a classic sandwich. It was busy but food did not take long to be ready.
google avatar

Aishwarya K.

Yelp
Came here to grab a quick lunch while my car was getting washed across the street. This place had 2 vegetarian taco options and I ordered both. The tacos themselves were decent -- the ingredients were fresh but the tacos were not flavorful unless salsa was added. Additionally, the salsas and the napkins, utensils, etc, were located in two different places, which was kind of confusing. I found myself looking around a bit to find each. The salsas were all pretty good. Service was fast. Definitely a good option to check out if you're getting your car washed over at Nice - N - Clean.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is basically a hipster convenience store coffee shop. I felt like a kid in a candy store shopping through their aisles of ice cream, healthy frozen foods, health bars, different jerkies, wine, and kombucha! I was very tempted to blow a lot of money here, and I wouldn't have even felt bad because of how healthy everything is. The prices are pretty reasonable, so you can get quite a bit here. There was even lamb jerky in bar form and I'm now obsessed with Kosmic Kombucha, which is brewed right in Austin. Matcha Peachu is a cleverly named flavor and delicious! I was happily surprised to have found Bobo's bar since I found them on Instagram literally the night before. The coffee was yummy and a lot of people seem to come here for brunch. The people here are incredibly sweet and represent Austin very positively. There's also a good amount of seating inside and outside, perfect for the absolutely beautiful day that it was.
google avatar

Simran A.

Yelp
Came here for mimosas and loved them. The lady at the bar did a great job- little orange juice and a lot of champagne, just the way I like my mimosas. On top of this, it was just $3.25- great price! The place offers burritos and has a little grocery shop inside as well.
google avatar

Dasha B.

Yelp
Terrible service. The wait staff has a bad attitude and blatantly ignores customers. It took multiple attempts just to get the waitress to acknowledge our question.
google avatar

Kyra H.

Yelp
I had been told years ago when visiting Austin to come check this place out, but it just never happened until recently when we were asked to meet some friends here for brunch. It is such an Austin spot. The inside is kind of like a bodega, but they have a working kitchen and coffee bar. We arrived 5min til 2PM when they switch to their afternoon menu. The girl behind the register told us to make a quick decision because once they put the breakfast stuff up they do not pull it out again even if you were in line. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese taco. This is my go to order when getting breakfast tacos. I had considered getting two, but I'm glad I didn't. Those things are loaded! I took advantage of the three different salsas that you can put on your tacos as well. Our group sat outside on the front porch. It was nice and seclusive. We forgot there there was traffic driving right by on the busy street.
google avatar

Shveta M.

Yelp
2.75. This location is down the street from my house and has some decent food and quite a beer selection. The staff aren't as friendly as the ones at the Cesar Chavez location. I've enjoyed their strip salad, tacos, breakfast bagel and now the house burger. Did you know they have happy hour burgers for $7 from 4-9pm? The burger was ok. I've had better but it's probably because I ordered it without the tomato spread. The fries were clearly frozen and not cooked all the way. The glass of rosé redeemed the meal though. Overall, semi so-so experience but I still come here every now and then. They do have a lovely patio which has redeeming qualities as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Neat combination of restaurant and store that has that Austin vibe to it. It has a limited menu, generally hot and cold sandwiches, but also has a selection of beers on tap. I had and enjoyed the cheese burger.
