The 22 Best Date Night Restaurants In London Right Now

"Hours melt away at Quill. Between admiring the kitsch chandeliers up in the ‘treehouse’ mezzanine and smothering a juicy hot dog in a cheese and mustard fondue-style sauce, this wine bar in London Bridge is so cosy that excuses to stay for ‘one last drink’ come easy. It might be that someone's dog is curled up asleep at your feet, or a glass of wine is holding you and your date hostage out on the heated terrace. Whatever it is, you won’t want your meal, or your date, to end." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley

Hours melt away at Quill, a charming, ye olde-feeling wine bar - Review - London - The Infatuation

"Stop us if you’ve heard this one before. A candlelit wine bar serving fancy cheeseboards and bottles of primitivo opens in a disused London archway. Only, Quill—housed in one of Borough Yards’ railway arches—is different because it shows the kind of commitment to its charming, ye olde cause rarely witnessed outside of a steampunk convention. Here, the superbly meaty tennis ball-sized scotch egg is cured in tea, dessert is headlined with the words ‘is one not done?’, and inexplicably, Victoriana Daniel Craig is printed on a perch-ready cushion. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Pause Unmute Hours melt away like evenings spent with a beloved novel. Between admiring the kitsch chandeliers up in the ‘treehouse’ mezzanine and smothering a juicy hot dog in a cheese and mustard fondue-style sauce, Quill is so cosy that excuses to stay come easy. It might be that someone's dog is curled up asleep at your feet, the chatty server has sat down beside your table to introduce you to a bottle of buttery, fizzing crémant, or a glass of mulled wine is merrily holding you and your date hostage out on the heated terrace. Don’t expect too much high-brow faff from the food—almost everything at Quill follows the comforting cheese and carbohydrate equation, but sometimes all you need is a bite of gloriously stinky stilton and another bottle of something French and spicy. Food Rundown Tea Cured Borough Scotch Egg Now That’s What We Call A Scotch Egg. In case you’re not willing to wait for our debut sausage meat snack compilation, just know that this would feature on side one. The tea flavour is very subtle and the richness of the yolk takes centre stage. One of London’s most comforting drinking snacks for under a tenner. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Quill Hot Dog Nothing feeds our secret inner après-ski enthusiast quite like being handed a little white jug of fondue-esque cheese and mustard sauce. It has a wickedly thick consistency, and although the hot dog itself is just fine, we’re very into the sweet, smoky bacon jam that comes on top. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Golden Boy Grilled Cheese Scientists have spent years trying to ascertain the perfect level of crunch for toasties. Now, technically we’re the bread scientists in question, but this grilled cheese walks the line between too soft and too crispy perfectly. The rich, slightly nutty flavour of the cheese will please anyone who enjoys nibbling on the remnants of a baked camembert. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch All Aboard Even if you’re allergic to train-based puns, you should still get involved in Quill’s cheese and charcuterie board. It’s a class act and our personal highlights include the rich, indulgent rind of the gooey British soft cheese, the near-sweet coppa, and the briney pickles. Our only complaint is that the accompanying crackers are a bit lacklustre so opt for an order of the warm, toasted sourdough instead. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Shaved Parmesan Sharing Chips Thick, fancy chips are our favourite genre of stomach-liner. These are particularly good thanks to the thick snowfall of shaved parmesan and the lemony garlic sauce that gives each bite a hit of creaminess. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Had such a fun time visiting with a group of friends for Quill’s flight tasting! We tried four different wines and loved the whole experience. The décor is quirky in the best way, and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. Already excited to go back!

After an afternoon spent at the Tate Modern I came here a light evening lunch. This wine bar is situated in Borough Yards, a lively new retail and dining destination located near Borough Market and London Bridge station. Its address is Arch 232 Bank End, London SE1 9FJ. It's the newest venture from "Fables & Company," the team behind other successful wine bars like Plume and Finch. The concept is heavily inspired by storytelling and literature, a nod to the area's history and proximity to Shakespeare's Globe. The interior is designed to feel like an eccentric, literary-inspired wine cellar, while the outside space is an "ode to an English garden." It's known for its blend of historical and modern design elements. The wine list is expertly curated, with a focus on making wine accessible. It features a wide selection of both rare and everyday wines, including an expanded selection of English wines. The food menu, created by Rob Wade, focuses on British cuisine with modern twists, and includes signature dishes like the "Golden Boy" grilled cheese sandwich. The bar hosts interactive and immersive experiences, such as "Secret Notes" nights and tarot readings, adding to its unique and playful atmosphere. I had a lot of fun here, if you're in the area, don't hesitate to come to the Quill wine bar 😊

Really lovely wine bar! Tried a dickens pint of champagne for the first time for a celebration - a half pint of bubbles! Nice atmosphere and settings outside, and good menu choices. Had some tasty padron peppers as a snack. Would definitely go back here.

An incredible wine bar just a few minutes walk away from the hustle and bustle of Borough Market. The interiors were stunning, the wine selection was wide but it was the service that made this place. A must visit if you fancy a glass of good wine and are in the area!

Incredible venue, attentive knowledgeable staff and amazing selection of wines + cocktails. We sat outside in December with the heaters and they were just perfect. Also many blankets available.

A lovely bar. Seating is lovely outside, especially on a sunny day. The decor on the inside is just as nice. Great wine list and other drinks, good menu too. The staff are so friendly and they know their wines! I would recommend this place

Our waitress Sarah was amazing! She made our first time unforgettable and added personal touches throughout the meal and even remained so helpful and calm when I dropped a piece of chicken on the floor. The food portions are way larger than you think which is so great for a wine bar! Chicken with honey was our favorite and loved the atmosphere!
