Went today to return a OXO broken garlic press originally purchased at this store at which time we were told by an employee that this item had a lifetime warranty and if it broke the store would replace it. The owner, Elena, clearly tried not to honour this promise and we had to insist before she honoured the promise in a very rude and unpleasant way. We also brought with us an espresso maker purchased there at same store for which the valve wasn’t working properly and asked her if she had a replacement valve and again she was rude and dismissive even though we weren’t claiming any warranty provisions and we were only asking politely to help us find a solution to the problem. She arrogantly gave us a valve that clearly didn’t fit the size of our coffee maker just to get us out of her hair, in a matter of speaking. Our family have been shoppers there for many many years and we are very disappointed at the treatment we received today. We’ll think twice before we return.

Wondering if the levels of my melanin affected the service level. The more melanin the worse the service gets? Any comment from the owners? Because this was my second sub-par experience out of my 3 visits to this store. Having grown up in little Italy, black and brown folks were never considered… funny how the racism you endured is so easily subjugated on others. Just put a “no ———- allowed” you’ll save me from spending my money into a racist business. Good riddance. Never stepping inside again.

Always impressed by their choice and good service. Just got a replacement for a Moka pot here, still, there's so many other things to explore for your kitchen.

I purchased a fragile item online and it was packaged very well, it arrived in the mail without any issues. Even the original box of the item came unscathed. Thank you!

Google
Great place to find those hard to find items for sure. If you’re a baker or chef it’s a find. Store itself is quite small so somewhat difficult to get around and see everything when busy. Also prices are not lower in fact they are often higher than elsewhere even though they have red sale stickers. But again you find the stuff you need

Google
Such a great find!! They have a nice selection that elevate your meals. Also great place to buy those hard to find high quality items. Awesome staff, they helped me prep a gift basket, it was beautiful!!

Google
Sobeys stopped providing Stefano Faita Sauces and products, fortunately, Dante was able to not only accommodate my order but also get the products I purchased sent to Ontario, I would recommend buying from this establishment as if you are looking for Faits

The staff here are reliably unhelpful, cold and inattentive, but the selection is good. With such a nice-looking shop I'm always amazed at the low quality of the customer service. It's kind of a "Little Italy thing." If you're not a friend of a friend, you'll be ignored.

Yelp
As a newcomer to the store it was to my good surprise that the quality of the items were really nice. The workers who attended me were old people but really kind and I promised them I will go back to that store. Now my kitchen has a new favourite brand!

Yelp
In a city like Montreal you might not expect to find hunting rifles and pasta makers in the same store, unless of course you find yourself in Dante, a Little Italy institution. This shop is a kitchen and hunting shop all rolled into one neat package. It sounds odd but the owners have seemed to make it work because this shop has been around FOREVER. If you love to cook then you will find everything you need to stock your kitchen so you can channel your inner Michelin star chef. It can be a little expensive but they do have quality products so I don't mind the higher price tag. I also find it kind of cramped so be careful as you navigate the store so that you don't knock anything over. The owner Elena is very enthusiastic and welcoming. If you can't find her then one of the sales staff will be sure to give you friendly and helpful service. If you find yourself in Little Italy then this shop is a must-visit. It's cute, quirky and has good products. What is not to love?

Yelp
I've always thought they should create a tv show inspired by this space and the stories that must circle through this tiny shop where they sell the highest quality goods for both hunting and cooking. Guns, crockery, drill bits, and the kinds of customers who think hard about such things = narrative gold, no? A fixture in Montreal's Little Italy since 1956, Dante Hardware is a family operation built with love from the ground up - http://www.radio-canada.ca/television/ciaobella_english/vhtml/dante.html

Yelp
I found out about this through Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations and had to check it out. Hilarious, I thought, what a gimmick! A gun AND kitchen supply store. Boy, was I wrong. The storefront is 100% bright and cheery KitchenAid colors of kitchen supplies. Take 10 steps and suddenly you're surrounded by camouflage and gun supplies. A few more steps and you're standing in front of a wall of shotguns and rifles. I found the sudden transformation so funny I must've walked it 10 times. 'Anthony Bourdain stood right where I'm standing.' I whispered to my hubby. 'Yes he did,' answered who I learned a few minutes later was the owner. I immediately engaged in conversation with this thick-Italian-accented guy, the very proud son of the man that opened shop. I asked for the story behind the shop. 'It's simple,' he's said, and told me when his family immigrated after WWII, their need for work coincided with other European immigrants needs to set up their lives and thus they opened a hardware shop. Pretty quickly, his father, and avid hunter, added guns to the mix when he realized Montreal had an unseeded demand for that, too. He showed me a fantastic photo from 1962 of his father with friends and their guns in the store. This man was so proud to carry on his father's legacy. It was beautiful. This is no gimmick. This the product of deep familial ties and history essential to Montreal. Come in, buy something, support Dante, support history, support Montreal.

Yelp
I just love visiting Dante. It is absolutely incredible how many kitchen items can fit in such a little space and I'm not even accounting for the hunting extras that can be acquired in the same store. Dante has everything you can think of, from high end cookware to cute little utensils that are just fun to purchase. Dante has been around for many decades and I believe it is due to the magic of going to tiny local shop to purchase cool stuff for your kitchen. One of must go places when I'm in Little Italy that everybody should simply check out.

Yelp
I would refer to Dante as either the safest cooking store in the world or the tastiest gun supply shop in the world. Think of Arnold Schwarznegger and Martha Stewart head shopping together this is where they would come! Either way... it's an odd combo but has worked for almost six decades! I heard from a co-worker this was the place to come for a pasta machine I didn't think also you could get a 12 gauge shotgun there as well! Some really high quality items are found both in guns, hunting knives and cookware! Langioule knives, beautiful wine carafes! Excellent quality juicers. All the kitchen gadgets you can think of! I have my eye on a serious manual juicer that I may come back shortly to purchase! I will update when I come back as my time was limited today!

Yelp
I always heard good things about Quincaillerie Dante but never went in. So I decided to remedy that and took a look inside after perusing around JTM. The place is tiny and packed but the staff is super friendly and the place has everything you could want for your kitchen! Le Creuset pots, quality wooden chopping boards, etc. One cool thing that caught my eye were these coloured covers - they come in different sizes and all you do is put it over the pan and it'll seal automatically. Super cool. Anyways, definitely worth a look if you need some kitchen gadgets and/or goods.

Yelp
I know they have sporting goods as well, but I really know Quincaillerie Dante for my kitchenware. It's neighborhood flavor as well - they've been around since 1956. They always know exactly what they have and what will get the job done. True, they don't necessarily have the biggest selection but you don't need it. The carry quality products that will last generations at reasonable prices = great value. The highlight is the personal service that is so lacking in so many of the big box stores. Yes, you may (not necessarily) pay a little more than at Reno Depot or Rona but you save in time, you'll get what you need in one visit. Time is money after all.

Yelp
Talk about a store with personality. This kitchen supply/hunting store is a Little Italy fixture and one of Montreal's greatest treasures. Elena Faita is local legend of the culinary scene and a force of nature--she runs the kitchen supply side of the operation as well as the affiliated École de Cuisine Mezza Luna (with her son, Stefano). Her husband runs the gunsmith/hunting supply side of the operation. Everyone's extremely helpful and their selection of products is top-notch. The store is a hub of activity. Be sure to say hello to "Socks," the friendly store mascot, when you visit.

Yelp
This excellent cookware, etc store is celebrating 60 years in business. At a time when quality and service are rarer in the retail sector, Quincallerie Dante stands out. If the engaging owner, Elena Faita, isn't available, one of the other attentive salespeople will help. Not well known: they sharpen knives, usually while you wait. Along with her son, Mrs Faita also runs the Mezza Luna cooking school.

Yelp
This is what I like to refer to as the gun shop. I have known about this place for a very long time, when I first started going there they had two section, the ladies: where you could buy great cooking wear and utensils and all kinds of cool cooking tools from Italy, and for the gents: guns and knives. The great thing is that while this place has grown both in items and floor plans and popularity, it has retained it's original his and hers appeal. You can find great gifts for anyone and unique cooking tools, they have also been adding cooking classes over the past 10 years and they are really fun. I highly recommend you check out this place if you like food and food preparation, or if you need a gift for someone. I cannot comment on the gun side, but the genius of this is that you can drag your man to this store and have him peruse while you do!

Yelp
After you get past the shock of seeing rifles selling alongside juicers, this store is a treasure trove for kitchen gadget junkies looking for reasonably priced quality goods. I splurged on Peugot (apparently they make more than just cars) salt and pepper grinders in a mustard colour that will be a great reminder of my trip to Montreal. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

Yelp
I can't think of any other place where you can buy a Dutch oven and a shotgun all in one place. No wait... I can... Canadian Tire. Except the guns are much better here;)

Yelp
My wife & I always drop by this place when we are in Montreal. The selection of kitchen stuff is great, however, it is the staff who are friendly, helpful and just plain fun to deal with which makes this a super place to visit. They will help you out with restaurants in the vicinity. Amazing place. Doug Hawes, St,John's Newfoundland
