If you want to relax, enjoy nature, and see birds this is the place to go. On the grounds they have very nice waking trails that weave through the natural vegetation. Along the way you will find sculptures and statues of wildlife mostly in bronze. The trails also have feeding areas and ponds that attract birds and include rest areas to sit and watch. The trails also have plenty of signage about the history of the grounds and about nature. Lastly the interior of the building at the entrance is amazing with history and architecture. Overall a must see and highly recommended!

Google
Really cool historical home. Went mid October and they decorated their nature trail with so many awesome decorations. Loved seeing the historical bathroom with a tile tub. Everyone was nice. Great place to visit if you're in town.

Google
A must visit nature place. Great for all ages. Go and love nature. Learn and Grow and Educate. Let's take care of Quinta Mazatlan. Imagine if we all had our landscaping similar to Quinta Mazatlan. Mother Nature would be happy. Happy trails everyone. Keep exploring.

Loved the spooky trail! My baby fell asleep the whole time but the pumpkin patch was super cute for photos. Everything was well put together

Came here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! It is so peaceful! The trails are nice and you see so many birds. Wonderful place for events too and if you are a local they have yoga classes! I highly recommend.

Google
Beautiful place, lots of gardens, activities. My favorite was the bird sanctuary . There are so many beautiful birds singing their beautiful songs. It felt like paradise to me. Highly recommend.

Google
Quinta Mazatlan is a beautiful and peaceful sanctuary to get away from the busy-ness of McAllen. Lined with signs explaining some of the flora and fauna of this natural habitat, the paths are wide, well-kept and enjoyable. The playground was a favorite spot for the children in our group, ranging in age from 20 months - 13 years. Some of the unique, colorful art structures along the path are interesting, yet seem perhaps a bit out of place in nature. I look forward to visiting again on subsequent trips to the valley.

Yelp
This used to be a Spanish home that is now used for celebrations and events. The original home is well maintained. There is a nice green garden and park surrounding this home. They have programs like Natural history tours,Native plant walks,. The Intro to Native Plant Gardening sounds cool . Many birding programs. I went there for a event in the evening and sitting in the beautiful courtyard for a formal dinner. The venue doesn't offer food any you need to be use a caterer. Most people visit to watch birds and pay the nominal admission fee.

Yelp
Probably one of the first things you'll see on a McAllen Travel Blog, I've been meaning to visit this spot for a long time. A park, event venue, birding area all in one. Lots of shaded area to walk around in, ponds, trees and shrubs where you can see all sorts of cool species native and migrating through. Despite today being 89 degrees, it wasn't unbearably hot out and I spent about an hour waking around outdoor due to all the shade offered by the trees. The cost to enter for adults is only $3 and even less for kids. The staff are all friendly, whether it's at the information desk, or the staff maintaining the park grounds. They make a huge effort to keep the area clean of any trash people might leave behind. Also, if you are looking for a wedding venue, it would be best to book way in advance, as there is definitely a long wait list. This is a beautiful venue for any event. Definitely will come again.

Yelp
Beautiful park with lots of educational opportunities. Great for birding, nature walks etc. I've enjoyed all my visits.

Yelp
I like coming here for walks with friends and to see the birds. It's a beautiful place to enjoy nature and to even host weddings or events. They have staff who can answer questions about the various species of plants and animals that are native to the area. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone stopping by McAllen.

Yelp
A must visit when you're in McAllen. Whether you're a bird lover or not, this venue gives you a piece of mind and education on birds, animals, and historial information. There's a variety of birds to be seen here and the landscape of the wildlife combine to make this place a serene location filled with zen. Also priced favorably making this a more attractive destination. Bird lover or indifferent, you won't regret visiting here.

Yelp
This is a fun place to go on a date or take your kids on the weekend. I am especially fond of the holiday decorations they do around day of the dead! Apparently it also is a wedding venue and I would imagine it would be an excellent location for that!

Yelp
This place is a hidden treasure! My daughter and I explored Quinta Mazatlan today and it was so much fun! The trails are beautiful and very well kept. We walked through the Dr. Seuss Lorax trail and it was super cute. After that we explored the gorgeous house which had me thinking about my own home and how I could mix in some Spanish tile... the interior design was very fun to see. Also, the art collection was very cool. The pool in the courtyard was beautiful - it had me wishing I was dressed up for a fancy event. There is an art studio with a bunch of kiddo sized tables in the back - they have story time and kids nature walks a couple times each week. If I have any suggestions on how to make this place better it would be to increase the options in the gift shop. I love Christmas ornaments for souvenirs and there weren't any so I bought a patch and will make one... they were also out of a shirt I would have bought - but I bought a nice coffee mug. They didn't have any magnets either, which a man behind me asked for. Anyway, that's it - just get some cute souvenir options for the out-of-towners. Overall, I recommend you visit. It was such a fun day!

Yelp
I went expecting nothing but trail, but came back out with so many polaroid shots!! Go ASAP! Before Halloween Decor is removed! Cheap admission, great views, and very informative. Probably will be going back soon to take more photo shots and hike. When you see these trees blossoming with their pink flowers, your jaw will drop. Just watch out for bees in that area, very friendly, but definitely recommend going for a quick view and finding a way around if allergic

Yelp
Great place to walk through in McAllen. Lots of birds. The trail took about an hour to hike. A lot of the foliage died off in the recent winter freeze, but it was starting to make a come back.

Yelp
Interesting place to visit and bird--and, interesting place for your non birder companions, as well House is interesting view of history Gift shop is great! Grounds are beautiful, with sculptures placed around the trails to showcase local birds and animals Feeding station would be a great place to view birds--but do pay attention to the feeding times. I visited at the end of the day when the food was gone and no one was around. I saw local specialties like Black Crested Titmouse plus found a rarity--See eBird or the Quinta Matzalan to see what birds have been seen recently.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful place. We were truly blown away. We've visited other birding centers in the area and this one was by far our favorite. The trails are short but I found them to be the perfect balance of nature and manicured landscaping. There was a photography session going on in the main house, which was breathtaking as well. We will definitely be back soon.. you can't beat that price.

Yelp
I. Had. No. Idea. I was here about ten years ago -- not sure when, but it was before the house was restored. I was on a civic / official tour of the RGV and I remember going to this place when it was all abandoned and overgrown. Kind of Grey Gardeny. I went back today, just to see if it matched my memory. Ermahgerd. The house is stunning. But the effort that has gone into attracting and retaining birds and hummingbirds is inspiring. It is pretty much a guaranteed location for birds, which makes it great for even beginning birders. The cacophony of sounds, the variety of feeder options, and the walkable trails all make for a very pleasant part of your day. If you are coming out to get exercise, then this isn't probably the set of trails for you - they are relatively brief and full of people looking through field glasses. But, if you just want a remarkable place to enjoy nature right in the middle of civilization, you couldn't have picked a more picturesque spot.

Yelp
This is a beautiful and peaceful nature escape hidden amidst stores and cityscapes. My children, ages 8 and 11 enjoyed checking off the animals from the list of bronze statues as they discovered them along the walking path - a type of natural scavenger hunt! The main house has beautiful art and architecture to enjoy. There are tables at which to enjoy a respite or picnic lunch. The prices are entirely reasonable, I would even say inexpensive! If you're visiting the area stop by and if you're a local go out and discover this gem in your own backyard!

Yelp
I had my wedding photoshoot here and it was beautiful. A bit limited in what we could do (rules about not moving things etc.) and I wish they'd had let us know before. Otherwise very pretty locations.

Yelp
I loved it! A beautiful spot, tons of birds, water features, a cute swing, lots of places to sit, wonderful experience!

Yelp
This place is magical. It is part of the World Birding Center in South Texas and the property is owned by the city of McAllen. It is both an example of one of the largest Adobe Homes in Texas as well as an AMAZING place to observe So. Texas wildlife ("Bird.") If you like trying your hand at nature photography, the water features and hides on this small property are well designed and worth your effort. It is also a great place to take kids, b/c the hike is much more of a nature walk than anything more strenuous and most of the pathways are shaded by high native growth that generally exists on all of the ranches further afield. Chachalacas are a guaranteed sighting, but so are Greater Kiskadees. Today we got super lucky and saw a Green Jay, whose range in the US only encompasses the lower Rio Grande. Also Check out http://www.theworldbirdingcenter.com/ for the rest of the sites operated by the World Birding Center.

Yelp
Beautiful place, friendly helpful staff. Do you like birds? You should go here. It's also super cheap to get in!

Yelp
Took my dad and daughter here upon our first arrival to the RGV. It was a very nice place with lots of natural shade. The various paths led to specific areas where the landscape is set up for certain bird species. We saw many birds we had never seen before and the visit was enjoyed by all generations.

Yelp
Such a beautiful, peaceful, serene place to walk around. The variety of birds and wildlife are amazing. The flowers weren't as plentiful as I had hoped for but, it is early in the season. If you have some time on your hands, I recommend visiting.

Yelp
This place is completely over-rated. We went there today and was very disappointed. The house and yard were not properly maintained. Staff did not care and bird feeders looked empty for a long time, dirty, broken, etc. There were no birds at all. The organization responsible for operating this place is not doing a good job unfortunately. We saw more birds in a nearby golf course.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times over the past several years and was impressed each time. The property is always being improved upon and the staff is so knowledgeable. There is a great story behind the property and it's transformation into what it is today.
