The performance of the play, FIRE was excellent. All the performers were highly talented and very attractive.

I saw the play Fire yesterday. The acting was fine enough, however, the storyline and message for me was very hard to follow and disjointed!! 1/3 of the time it was difficult for me to actually understand and hear the dialogue!! Too much time spent on Alex's role at the end (seeming taking one away from the play all together and focusing more on the homosexual aspect, etc.) With regrets, in good conscious, I would not recommend this play!

*****Absolutely blown away***** Plays have NEVER been my thing but my wife loves them and has even acted before so I decided to take her here tonight. WOW, what a fun evening we had! We saw A Midsummer Night's Dream. We are gonna start coming regularly!

Google
Great little theater! High production value for such a cozy venue. I suggest dinner before at La Trattoria.

Saw Pirates of Penzance. Great show; terrific voices, and everyone at the theater was friendly and helpful. Really enjoyable evening!

I been here a few times! Love this place. You have to pay for parking but I was able to get a spot out from all the times I attended. Staff is amazing and friendly. They have snacks, which prices aren’t too bad. Bathrooms very clean.

Yelp
The Quintessence Theatre Group is such a gem - bringing high-quality, affordable (yes, affordable!), productions of classic theater to downtown Mt. Airy - and in residence at the Sedgwick Theater, a 1920s art deco movie theater, now showing a bit of decayed urbanity. One of the things I love about QTG is that every production seems to involve a re-thinking of the audience seating arrangement and stage placement. So when you walk in, you never know what to expect - and often find the staging effects quite magical. Some scenes in Lear were staged in the original theater's lobby, Mother Courage had the audience seated where the stage is now for the series of Synge plays making up the Synge Festival (not to be missed!). My personal favorite production was - well, it's hard to say, so many are so memorable - Ibsen's The Wild Duck, or possibly Odets' Awake and Sing!, or Beckett's Waiting for Godot. And it's not all so serious, as they proved with the Goldoni-derived side-splitting farce, One Man, Two Guvnors. Bravo, Alex Burns (director) and QTG! If driving, it's easy to park on the street, or in the municipal lot on the other side of Germantown Avenue. Check their web site for more info. There are plenty of great places to eat, Earth Bread Brewery and Trattoria Moma's being just two of my favorites.

Yelp
This is my first visit to this historical, quaint theater and was blown away by the performance of Eugene O'Neill's LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT. I went to yesterday's Sunday matinee at 2:00 with about 80 people in attendance. Good basic seating in a tiered fashion. Plenty of parking across the street in the municipal lot. Last performance is October 24, 2017.

Yelp
Just saw Playboy of the Western World at the Quintessence Theater in Mt. Airy. We loved it. We went in with no preparations and appreciated Alexander Burns providing background and the glossary of Irish words in the program, but the actors and the play itself carried us along despite occasional difficulties with accents and phrases. It is a dark comedy all right and it hit home. At the same time, the actors made us fall in love with the characters. They were superb. We'll be back for the rest of the J.M. Synge festival. The play is public domain if anyone wants to familiarize themselves with the language. But maybe one should do that afterward - to get the poetry of it. It is worth a few losses of words for the impact of the surprises. J.S.

Yelp
So far I've seen As You Like It, Richard II and Mother Courage and Her Children all have been engaging, creative, and well rehearsed. It's great to see persons of all ages here enjoying theatre. I'll be back this season.

Yelp
Have seen Frankenstein and Oliver and both were totally fabulous! Oliver is still playing so, if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend that you do! The high spirit and energy of the play are captured perfectly.

Yelp
Saw their preview performance of My Fair Lady last night. WONDERFUL, lively, great choreography, fun from start to finish. They had us laughing and smiling the entire night. If anyone had a doubt about their ability to do a musical - forget it! My hands hurt from clapping, it was that good!

Yelp
I wasn't a fan of the acting in general. Come to think of it, I was their with my family one time, and saw a play that I didn't like. A couple words to describe it, a complete snooze fest and boring. I give it at least 1 star but then again, I am more of a concert goer than a theater goer

Yelp
"As you like it" was definitely as I liked it... Shakespeare at its raunchiest while true to source... Fantastic acting to boot!

Yelp
The work they do in this theatre group is truly amazing. I have seen three of their productions (Hamlet, Mourning Becomes Electra, and The Metamorphosis) and they were all truly amazing. There is always creative staging with everything. The actors are always top notch and seem at the top of their game. The season they choose each year is always intriguing, and it is refreshing to see a group doing the not so often done classics and doing them so well. I also love the theatre they perform in. It is a crumbling movie house that looks like it is out of the 1920s. You can see the hints of the glamour that the building once had. Overall, the shows are always amazing and if you don't come see them you are truly missing out.

Yelp
One of my niece's favorite theaters which does a lot of classic theater. Located in Mount Airy, not too close to the downtown theater district, but accessible through SEPTA rail (Chestnut Hill lines, Allens Lane and Sedgwick Stations) and the Route 23 bus from Center City.

Yelp
Excellent performances of classic plays in the old art-deco Sedgewick Theater of Mount Airy. I've seen 4 plays here since they opened, and all have been terrific.

Yelp
Turgid production of a Shaw's Saint Joan. It is talky play and rather than compensate for that, this production seemed to accentuate. I fought--and lost--a running battle with fatigue and nodded off a couple of times. I want to support local theater in my neighborhood and will give Quintessence another try. But last night was a dismal experience.

Yelp
Its a small theater, but the plays have always been REALLY REALLY good. Good Views from all of the seats so far. It is general admission- no assigned seating. I would recommend.

Yelp
A welcome addition to a neighborhood in dire need of a cultural infusion. This young company has had a mixed bag of hits and misses, but I am certainly looking forward to the current season's offerings.
