#fatjared say...Unfortunately, after hanging out here a bunch, when I finally tried to food, I was disappointed. Not much good to say about this experience.
I have been to R Bar multiple times to just hang with friends, and honestly I do love it for that. The outside patio is fun, it's warm in the winter, you can bring your dogs, you can be loud and have a great time, but if you want to go for a legit meal, I suggest other bars. The food is average at best, and our service was far below average.
For my grading scale, 1 star means absolutely nothing good to say, and 5 stars means 0 complaints whatsoever. I am consistent with this to my own disappointment sometimes, but this is a 2 star bar for sure.
The good stuff, is the layout, the feel, and the wings. While yes they were a bit salty, they still slid off the bone very well, and were good leftover as well. A good sign of a well cooked wing. Saltiness with buffalo sauce just goes hand in hand. The candied walnuts on the salad were BOMB also.
Now for the bad. The brussles were under cooked, and way too oily. The salad did not have a tasty vinaigrette and was pretty plain. They had good choices of different beer, but you can't run out of a beer on draft on a Fri night, that is just unacceptable at a place that is labeled as a gastropub. Made me not even want to order a beer.
All of that wouldn't have been terrible, but the service we had was awful. She was not nice, never showed up for long periods, would put the drinks down without saying anything or asking how we were, and was actually sassy. Sorry, I know it's a bar and you can be having bad nights having to work on Friday, but when you're coming off as rude and the whole table recognizes it, that's not ok. She realized she messed up, and tried to make a comeback, but it was def too late.
Overall, there are way better places to go to watch a game, hang out with friends, and get better bar food with more options for draft beers. Sorry. Below average bar.
