Long Beach Bar Owner Caught on Video During Homophobic and Anti-Mask Rant | Eater LA

"Owned by Rakesh Desai and opened in 2018 at Third and Pine Avenue, this downtown bar became the center of controversy after its owner was recorded delivering a more-than-two-minute anti-mask rant laced with homophobic slurs when staff refused him service for not wearing a mask required by state and local orders. While holding a face mask and at times asking staff to call the police, he looked into the camera, identified himself, and touted his status as a local business owner. He later issued an apology saying he had “blown up” and regretted his words. The business’s Instagram was deactivated and its Facebook and Yelp pages were flooded with negative comments after the video circulated online." - Mona Holmes

The food was delicious at this rowdy TV sports bar. We came for trivia and everyone was so nice. Would have been cool if they wrote their own questions and had a weekly trivia but the warm staff and kind community along with the veggie burgers and chile relleno egg rolls will have me coming back again.

I recently re-visited the R Bar and found it to be a nice pub with cold beer, many varieties on tap and bottles. The bar service was great, the bar tender was kind and friendly to this outta towner, its great to be welcomed in! I didnt get a chance to try their extensive pub grub menu, but it looks appealing. There were plenty of sports on their many overhead big screen TV's. I look forward to my next visit when I'm in Long Beach,.,.,.,

Something for everyone here. It has a trendy hipster look overall but has lots of TVs for sports. The menu is similar in that way and has everything from avo toast to chicken wings. Bonus points for shuffle board in my opinion and a digital jukebox so everyone can be happy with the music. Friendly service and nice wine and beer selection.

Super fun place and they have a great keto menu which is helpful if you’re trying to be healthier. The only reason for the 4 stars is the service was a bit slow and everything was very spicy! I’m not a huge spice girl so I just wish there would have been a warning.

Waited awhile for a drink I understand there busy finally got me and my gf drink both drinks had food or something big floating at the bottom of glasses so gonna be a 1 star for me

Came on a Sunday night, ordered the bacon blue cheese burger and an IPA. Awesome service food and drink. Try it out.
