R Bar

Rode my bike down Gulf Blvd for an hour and stopped in here for a burger and baked potato. They were very accommodating and I sat outside because I forgot my bike lock. The burger was very juicy and tasty. I ate it right up an didn’t get a pic! Treasure Island Beach is just across the street!

The food was very good; however, the service we experienced was extremely disappointing. Our bartender appeared to deliberately ignoring our group. While she was assisting other guests at the bar, the three of us were repeatedly overlooked. When we eventually asked if we could place an order, she responded sharply, saying there was a reason she hadn’t taken our order because “the kitchen is slammed.” The restaurant did not appear particularly busy, and we have visited before during much busier times. Had this been communicated to us when we first arrived, we would have completely understood and waited patiently. Unfortunately, instead of being informed, we were simply ignored. It took roughly 15 minutes to receive drinks and another 15 minutes before our order was taken. The food itself came out quickly, but after finishing our meal it took approximately 30 minutes to receive our check. When the bartender finally returned, she took one person’s card from our group and walked away without collecting the others, which further added to the confusion. Overall, the service was very underwhelming and came across as unnecessarily rude and inattentive. We used to visit this establishment frequently and have always enjoyed it, which made this experience especially disappointing

I was at the R bar on Saturday and had an excellent meal. I wasn't sure at first about the place, had just visited with some brother firefighters. Decided to come back for supper, three days later, glad I did. Nice gentleman playing his Horn entertaining a crowd at 5:00. Another excellent wait staff and meal. I'm from Wisconsin and would recommend this place highly to anyone looking for a place to enjoy a meal. A Great place for any retired person visiting the Treasure Island area around the Bilmar Resort, easy walking distance.

Sure dont understand these 4 stars. I been coming here a long time. And the past 2 yrs service has been terrible. When I order a drink. She told me I'm busy. Last year was the same way. I heard a couple customers come up the bar. And said they have been waiting over an hour for their food. And asked how much longer it will be. The reply was, we are down to one cook. It should be coming up . It's a damn shame. This use to be a great and fun place. Talk about walking in and not feeling welcome. The help seems angry and out of it. Terribly disappointed.

First time coming here and have to say it’s a lot better than I expected. I love the laid back atmosphere and enjoyed the food and drinks we ordered! Service was great! Amanda took care of us, she was absolutely amazing! Only “problem” I will say that we had there, was a couple of entitled and obnoxious people that were there giving the workers a hard time that turned into a bit of an issue. But I think the staff handled it well and they were removed! But again, happy with our visit and will definitely be back again! 👍😁

I’ll try not to be too hard to the overall rating because much of their food we have had is very good. Tried the pizza based on bar tender’s recommendation. Was arguably the worse pizza we have ever had. Soggy cardboard with toppings that were not even what we ordered. Took some friends there that were visiting and let’s say I made a bad choice on that one. Again, most of their food has been good but don’t get the pizza.

Above-average bar food with a menu that delivers more than you’d expect. The staff and customers are friendly and welcoming, creating a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. Prices are reasonable, making it an easy choice for both locals and visitors. A nice stop whether you’re passing through or looking for a comfortable place to unwind.

This is a great place for a casual meal .. They have good food and fantastic staff. My husband and I stopped in and had so much fun ! Thanks to Danyel and Amanda...they made us feel so welcome and they really paid attention to our drinks and food.. If you want fun, great foodl and fun atmosphere, this is your place !!! OMG. PAUL NEW COOK . I asked because. serve some really good meatballs they make meatball sandwiches etc. Some potato pancakes I have the other day for breakfast alternative of hashbrowns. Fantastic. And then he took the time to come out and talk to me. Super nice guy he's he's a culinary Wizard. Good job Bar for a good hire! I don't remember the last time I've ever used yelp but, I'm excited for my local bar on the beach. On T Treasure Island

The "R Bar" in Treasure Island has been considered a "hidden treasure" for my 35 years of local citizenship on the beaches. They've always had great food specials, affordable prices, good service and is an all around "Good Value" IMO! One of my personal favorites is their traditional Buffalo Chicken Wings ordered "hot & xtra crispy" and I just cannot get enough of them with Bleu Cheese & Celery on the side. We stop in every few weeks ordering 20 wings after a few draft beers and I'm good-to-go for another week or two.... Located just off Central Avenue on 108th Ave in TI, the ambience is beach casual with a tropical decor and a simple fun, relaxing atmosphere! I've been visiting them since moving here in 1988 and their popular all-u-can-eat specials back then put them on so many's radar! A popular favorite of both visitors and locals alike! Occasionally they do get quite busy with slight delays in service possible - Too many are now aware of this hidden lil gem...

Honestly, I don't know what happened to this place. After the hurricanes all the regular Bar staff were let go. Only they weren't told , they were left to figure it out. Came back here a few times because this used to be like home to me. It's just not anymore. The chicken wings I ordered today looks nasty and unappealing . The last time I ate here, I mysteriously got sick shortly after leaving here. What a shame.

Great local spot. We had breakfast. Portions good, food tasty. Casual environment. Prices fair. Service is pleasant and sincere. Free parking.

Good basic dive! Ultra casual! Clean! Friendly service that's not too chummy. Good food, coffee. Reasonable prices. Outdoor picnic table seating though we sat inside at a table. Parking lot available though we walked there. Party of four walked in with a dog, I figured they would be asked to take him outside, but that didn't happen. Pooch was extremely well behaved (a Lab, of course)! Another little Fido sat on a stool at the bar with his human. A fun breakfast experience!

Great seafood selections! Friendly staff and the food was fresh and delicious! Will definitely go back!

Now that Captain Bill's is closed, I must take my out of town guests to the R Bar which is Treasure Island's next best choice. Surprise! The R Bar has an all new menu. Some old favorites are gone but some new items have appeared that seem to be able to take their place just fine. Still love the BBQ Ribs ($17.99). The description says so tender the meat falls off the bone and it is right on the money. The cup of chili ($5.99) comes in a large 8 ounce bowl and the Mahi Mahi can be served grilled, blackened, or lemon. And of course, there are the oysters...which is the whole purpose of the outing. The raw Oysters were very large and the Oyster Rockefeller was very tasty.

I do like this small bar in treasure island. I have only eaten breakfast there once, it was not really made well. Their lunch and dinner menus are much better. The service is always friendly and great and it's a cozy place that anyone can feel right at home in.

Don't eat here. The food wasn't good at all. I got the grouper grilled it wasn't fresh, clearly been frozen and was over cooked. Tasted rubbery. If you wanna drink come but don't eat the food. That was probably the worst fish I have ever had. Like no lie cafeteria fish would be better than that. Never again

Would have given NO stars but the system doesn't allow. Went in on a Wednesday night for dinner hoping for a fresh salad and hubby wanted the fish hoagie. The place was pretty empty and quickly was seated but that should have been a sign. We were told that the kitchen is under renovation and they are working with a limited menu with no prices listed on the limited menu version. Should have left then. That's ok since the hoagie was available. But no salad so I ordered clam chowder. Big mistake as it appeared it was out of a can of Snow's clam chowder. Ordered the calamari for dinner and the hoagie and all food was served on paper plates. Very disappointed with quality of the food only to discover they were cooking all food out of a food truck in the parking lot, which we were certainly not told that in the beginning! Never to go back again!

There is no food served but the drinks are strong and the atmosphere is fun! Several bartenders working at the same time for fast service

The shrimp dinner was terrible, they removed the ENTIRE meal and then refused to take it all the bill... they took the whole meal from the table and management refused to take it off the bill. The manager said the waitress would have to pay for it if we didn't. UNACCEPTABLE.

Went for the first time since the hurricanes and it was pretty good! For those that have been going here for years, there are a lot of changes (some storm related, some not). New ownership, a lot of new staff and some menu changes. And of course, a new interior after the flooding. I had breakfast here, and it was good as always. The only 'oopsie' was they forgot to bring me one of my side items, but no big deal. This will be my go-to spot on T.I. for breakfast until some of the other spots re-open.

Never again. Took 10 mins to take drink order and 2 hours for prime rib...you know...the thing that is already cooked. They were not that busy. And it was definitely not worth the wait.

Food: The Rockefeller, oysters were fresh and delicious. Cheese sticks were perfectly crispy and had a wonderful cheese pull. The pretzel bites were exactly what she would expect from a pretzel fluffy and good cheese. The onion rings had a light crispy batter. My sister did not like the garden salad... the lettuce was wilted and flavorless. The beer battered fries were amazing, our favorite of all of the things we got. The wings were hot and flavorful. The chicken was moist not dry!! The fried chicken was very crispy, but lacking in flavor according to my family. Food was a big above average for price, but we enjoyed the food overall! Service: Our waiter was clearly busy with the bar but was still attentive and funny. He made us feel welcome. Ambiance: walked in, and was seated in the corner by a little music stage. At first It took a second to adjust because it is very dark. The music was bumping, and the bar was filled. We sat at a table. The restrooms were very clean. It is 3 o'clock on a Saturday and both the women's & men's restroom was very clean so that's always a plus!

Sadly the brunch experience here didn't really live up to my expectation. My cup of coffee had a napkin in it. Not kidding you. At least for that my coffee should have been comped. Service was not the best and friendliest. Breakfast gam, bacon and egg were so so. More greasy than anything. It is a five bar and at 0900 people are already drinking at the bar. That's the vibe throughout.

I think I just found my new local dive bar and wing spot. I stopped by R Bar on Treasure Island this evening as I was craving some wings. It was my first time here so I wasn't sure what to expect. I checked out the menu and decided to go with 5 hot, 5 garlic parm, and 5 with the dont worry about it sauce. I think this is a combo of all the sauces they offer, but hard to say for sure. I went with a side of blue cheese for my dressing. Wing prices were really reasonable, 5 wings for $5. My wings came out and they looked good. The wings were huge and the skin was nice and crispy. The sauce flavors were enjoyable. I liked all 3 flavors, but I think my favorite was dont worry about it. Overall, I enjoyed my first visit to R Bar. The food was good and very reasonably priced. I ended up walking out with 15 wings and 2 beers for $22. They also offered some other daily special that looked like I need to make a few more visits in the near future. Hard to believe I drove past this spot so many times, but I won't anymore.

Food was AWESOME!! Service was abysmal. When we first sat down, the bar tender was attentive and friendly. After we ordered, the young lady was dismissive and totally ignored us. I finally left, and my husband had to wait about 15 minutes for a box, he had to ask again, the check, he had to ask again, he never got a receipt. I believe we were overcharged, but since he wasn't given a receipt ‍?? We've tried really hard to buy local, the food is great!! But the service STINKS!!

This is our most favorite dive bar. The drinks are good, strong, and not overpriced. Food selection is limited, but what they do make is surprisingly good. I took my friend, and executive Chef, to the bar and he said the ribs were the best he'd ever had the world over Try the fried chicken, only be patient, it takes a while

Came with a group of 6 adults with 4 children. Kinda waited around before we were seated for 15 mins. Waited for appetizers over 30 mins. Fried pickles were decent. Table next to us was here 15 ins after us and got food 15 before us. Craziness! Maybe just an off day. After the food arrived it was smooth sailing. It's definitely worth a try.

Service is not good. We came twice in the month we were here. The first experience was poor- server was rude and the pizza was the worst we ever had- cracker thin crust and toppings were at least an inch from the end. We came back because we kept hearing from people we met about how good they are, especially the prime rib. That was ok - a little over done. It took 4 requests to finally get water.

Small town feel, great service, food was good! I would only recommend a little more attention to detail in the current janitorial program.

I just visited the r bar. I'm from out of town and had no idea what to expect. it appeared to be a local favorite and I see why. Tony was the bar tender and he was amazing. He was personable, friendly and attentive. I will definitely be coming back.

Really disappointed. Have been in here 100 times. Love the grouper Nuggets. Chicken wings, steak and cheese sandwich. Always have a cold beer. Arrive tonight with a medium crowd set at the bar middle no one next to me two female bartenders, one male bartender. Watch them make drinks for other people. After 10 minutes, no one even said hello be right with you. Can I take your order? No communication whatsoever. Very disappointed.

Maybe we were there on a bad night. We had eight in our group, the place wasn't t busy. The waitress was very nice and we ordered drinks and food. The food came out one by one, which I thought was weird. One person got there ribs first, another got crab, then a burger. Two friends of mine ordered the same fish and chips except one got his and then the waitress went back to the kitchen and got the other order of fish and chips. The difference was the second order was completely burned! The waitress didn't see that the color was completely different on the two fish? There was no flavor to the burger, no utensils for the crab. Friend ordered a new fish and chips and said it was completely bread and hardly any fish. It seems like a good place for cheap drinks, I just won't order food.

I would give this place a 5 star purely for the wings! I got the garlic parm and medium flavors and they were delicious and cooked perfectly. The 4 star is due to the oversized oysters lacking flavor and the place itself is pretty dead (or at least when we went on a Sunday afternoon).

R Bar is a nice little watering hole off the beaten path. If you want to get out of the sun and into a nice dark bar, R Bar is a good choice.

This is our favorite and first stop whenever we do our beach crawls. The ladies working here are very nice and always remember us even if it's months between visits. The breakfast is always good and cooked the way we order it. Very reasonable prices too. Have to try the ayce crab legs sometime!

I love this hole in the wall. I came here for my birthday to get away from it all and enjoyed spending my afternoon here. It's not on the water, but all the locals are so friendly and they pointed me in great directions. BUDA! Best bartender ever, so friendly and kind! The brunette, not so much. They have great beers! I didn't try the food but I am sure that it's as good as the rest of the places around here. Not a ton of parking, but it's season currently so parking is always going to be difficult.

The locals my like it but I'LL NEVER EAT AT THIS PLACE AGAIN NO WAY. terrible service the server could not get the order correct must have been more concerned about the larger LOUD ASS party next to us. To me it definitely was not worth all the time or money we spent there.

All you can eat crab legs on Mondays. Had the dinner order and the 4-piece fried chicken special. Highly recommend.

Love this place! Great dive bar with cheap drinks and delicious food. We got a dozen oysters for about $18 and they were huge. The blackened grouper was also fabulous! Our server was amazing and on top of everything. Beers were $2.50-4 bucks a pop. Food came quick and everything was great!! 10/10 recommend!

we came in set at the bar,10 minutes later...waitress didn't ask if we wanted a drink or anything....just said we are between breakfast and lunch so no food food for 45 minute,foxys is over there.

We visited while on vacation. Cool, local dive with laid back, friendly staff. The wings were great. Prompt service, didn't let you sit with an empty cup. Good drinks and good prices too. Comfortable environment, no worries vibe. Will return again!

It's been a hot minute since we visited here, but I was going through my drafts and saw I had forgotten to post this! It was really good and so I'm leaving it now. We came in for the AYCECrab. It was awesome. Seasoned super well and piping hot! Didn't even need butter! (Which is good because it didn't taste like real butter, lol. Just sayin) but the crab legs were seriously great... And so was our waitress Dawn. She was SO extremely friendly and helpful. Was honest about her thoughts on certain menu items- and really set a great tone. If we make it back it will be for more crab legs- we will definitely be asking for her to wait on us.

This is our favorite go-to spot when we visit Treasure Island! The food never disappoints!

RBar is the perfect local joint for TI...we love the bourbon wings, awesome fried chicken, patty melt, ribs! Neighborhood atmosphere, nothing fancy...just relax and enjoy the personalities. They do have regular specials- many come for the crab legs...or catfish...can't miss with the great comfort food. Did I mention the fried chicken?!? It is the best!! Available to order by the piece to go...order extra, you don't want to run out :) Breakfast too, we could only partake on weekends, but visitors get to enjoy am specials daily!

Great spot! We come in for a bar pizza and drinks whenever we're in town. They have a great bar pie!

First place in Florida that we stopped 3 years ago. Yum. Then yesterday we stopped in to meet friends for a drink and a light bite to eat. Nice Happy Hour crowd and its good to see the off duty staff stay and mingle with the customers. We talked at length with the local postal carrier and enjoyed hearing her antidotes about work. Drink prices are very reasonable. A well dirty martini was around $3.50 and craft beer was $4.00. We ordered The 4-piece fried chicken mix which is breaded with matzo flour and is crispy outside and juicy inside. In addition to a bowl of chili, we shared jalapeno poppers. All over the top good and more than enough for three to share. Has its own parking lot too.

Heard rave reviews about their wings. Waited almost an hour and they were just ok. Really lacked flavor.

Shhhh! Don't tell anyone they serve breakfast. It's hard enough to find some eggs without waiting in line during terrorist season. Bar staff are hard working local gals so don't forget to tip! Its a classic beach dive bar so come as you are. If you can't handle a little dirt and sticky, go stand in line at the Waffle House (they got no booze). Better yet, just leave the island so us locals can eat in peace! There are several restaurants on Central Ave where you can easily drop $90 on freaking eggs! #tilocalbusinessesrock

I've been wanting to try the place since I live down the street. I think I just picked the wrong day. It was a stressful day, I just wanted a quiet adult place to chill and have some wings. As I walked in 2 10 year old boys were banging on a crane machine. The lady behind the bar yelled at them to stop. I got a table and ordered my drink and looked the menu over. By the time the drink came I knew I needed to leave. The kids were having a ball and it didn't look like it was going to get better. Just not the atmosphere I was looking for so I left some money and went over to another local place

They used to have AYCE Crab legs on Tuesday's and Thursday's which we used to go to, but now they do 2 lbs for $59.99. Seems like they are pretty proud at that price. We opted to go down the road for our crab fix and found them for $17.99. We ate lunch here today, food was pretty good for a dive bar, as usual. The service was pretty lousy. It took about 15 mins for the server to take our order and around 45 mins for our food to arrive after that, it wasn't too busy during our early afternoon visit. It seemed to be the service was heavily focused on the regulars at that time.

We've been here a couple times for crab legs and it's usually really good. Not this time. We were there for 30 minutes and no one ever came to our table, and it was not seat yourself, so they knew we were there. Unreal.

We were looking for a place with Snow Crab within walking distance of our hotel. Based on the reviews, we settled here. Good location from Bilmar/Thunderbird. Crab was yummy but stuck to the shell. Local dive bar, casual, good selection of food, and great service.
