Honestly, I'm really sad to write this review with such a low rating. I'm pretty lenient on restaurants because I get the things they have to go through (I also work in hospitality). I've been here a couple of times before and, while service was never blow-me-out-of-the-water amazing, it's never been terrible.
I came here with my friend and my dog on July 4 mid-afternoon (I get it, it was a holiday and sometimes service suffers because of that). It wasn't crazy busy and we showed up without a reservation but were seated immediately. We were seated outside on the patio in the sun even though there quite a few empty shaded tables available. We asked if we could sit in one of the shaded tables and were told we could and to pick any available open table.
We patiently waited for our server to show up and take our drink order (it seemed like he had the entire patio) and there were 2-3 other tables of customers when we showed up so when it took a few minutes for him to greet us, we didn't really care. He seemed genuinely nice (the receipt said his name is Danny). After the drinks arrived, we ordered some food----- calamari, fish tacos, and a kid's meal of the fish of the day (we were told it was Mahi Mahi) with no seasoning as I had mentioned that would be for my dog and a side salad with no dressing. The food took a while to come out and our drinks sat empty for a while before we were able to order another round. When the food finally came, the fish that was supposed to be completely unseasoned showed up with extra salt and all the seasonings. We noticed we also didn't have any plates, napkins or silverware. The tacos sat while we munched on fries and calamari with our fingers and patiently waited for our server so we could eat the tacos that looked delicious and get another fish that my dog could actually eat. No exaggeration (I had roughly timed it), we sat there for over half an hour waiting for ANYONE to show up to see how we were doing. I started getting upset so I didn't want to go up and try to flag someone down because I knew it wouldn't give anyone a good outcome and we were just trying to enjoy our holiday. Every time we tried to flag our server down, I would see him making his rounds to the other tables and then turn around before he could see us trying to get his attention and leaving.
When he FINALLY showed up, we explained that the fish was seasoned (he knew it was for my dog) and made it seem like it was kitchen error and said he would put another one in right away. Then before he left, I had to stop him and explain that we needed plates and napkins and silverware and another round of drinks. It was a bit annoying to see him look at the fish tacos that hadn't been touched in such a long time and act like everything was fine although he did act like he totally forgot about the share plates.
I ended up eating cold tacos that had been sitting there the whole time (you could tell it would've tasted amazing had I been able to eat them when they first came up) and we ended up getting my dog's fish about another half an hour later. The calamari was good but didn't stand out (luckily we ate that while it was still out).
Around this time, he came back (surprisingly) to tell us that he was going on break and someone else would be covering his section. She wasn't very attentive either but hey, she's just covering someone. We asked for the bill but she never actually came back to let us pay. What was annoying not only did we not get anything comped for the terrible service or their mistakes, but they actually charged us for the side of fish they had to re-make instead of the Fish of the Day kid's meal I actually ordered. It was a dollar difference so we were too exhausted with their service to fight it, but they're actually going to charge us more?! We waited for a good 10 minutes before we decided the server wasn't coming back and decided to try to get someone to close us out on the way because we had already spent about 2 hours there (mostly waiting). When we walked inside and before we could hand them our card with the bill, the server actually told us bye and to have a good day (LOL). We had to tell her that we wanted to pay for her to actually realize we hadn't paid yet. Usually, I never tip under 20% and on holidays I've been known to tip double just because I know what it's like to work on holidays when everyone else is off. I couldn't, in good conscience, do that. It was, hands down, one of the worst I've received in a long while.
While the food is decent for the most part, the service was horrendous and I'm not sure if I'll ever be back after this last visit. If you do end up ignoring my review and decide to go anyway, I've had there scallop risotto here last time and it was very good. BUT alas, there are other places along the beach where the food is good and they care about service.
