Four Austin Restaurants Closed: Food Truck Song La, Mexican R19, Wicky’s Walkup, and Thrive Craft House - Eater Austin

"Southern Californian-Mexican restaurant R19 Taqueria is set to close this month, with its final service day at 2422 Ranch Road 620 South being either December 23 or 24. Owner Christopher Haydostian cited insufficient traffic and high costs as reasons for the closure. Initially launched in East Austin in 2020, they expanded with a food truck in 2021 and converted it into a physical restaurant in late 2021 after the original spot closed." - Nadia Chaudhury

California-Texas Mexican Restaurant Reunión 19 Closed in Austin - Eater Austin

"R19 Taqueria, a fast-casual offshoot of Reunión 19, opened in Lakeway after the original restaurant closed. The menu includes California-Mexican dishes such as tacos, burritos, carne asada fries, and new additions like activated charcoal tortillas for seafood, breakfast tacos, queso blanco, and a kids menu. Customers can also purchase marinated meats and house-made tortillas to-go. The venue offers a full bar and televisions for sports viewing. R19 Taqueria is a solo project by Christopher Haydostian, who received support from his partners of Reunión 19." - Erin Russell

Quality food for reasonable price. If your a foodie and enjoy flavor come check this place out. The seasoning, spices, and combinations are FABULOUS! The Cali burritos are a must have. Try the steak you won’t regret it. The chips and queso is another hit. On Tuesdays I believe they put out the devils cake (not sure if it’s called that), but ask for their famous desert. If it’s not already sold out. They cook everything fresh and it’s worth the wait. I’m not a big cauliflower person, but it’s a favorite of mine.

Wow what a great spot. I run the Lone Star School of Music right up the street and customers keep saying we need to have R19 cater our events. Boy are they right. I grew up in San Diego and spent 30 years living from Tijuana to North Hollywood. The food is amazing and the staff made me feel like I was hanging out with friends. Tex-Mex and Cali-Mex are really different and this place nailed it. Great burritos and fries. I noticed that reviews say they have high prices, but they are not much higher than other places for the meal you get. The portions are large and each order is made fresh.

You know what it is. Authentic mx Cali/TX whatever style tacos and 🌯 made fresh in front of you the only thing lacking is variety fresh salsas made to go some bottles are offered. Beer options minimal but atleast they have beer among other options

Love love love R19!! My family and I have been enjoying the food from the food truck at the Waypoint park in Hudson Bend and came to the new location today during their soft opening and it is proving to be just as amazing 😍 Our favs are the Asada Cali Burrito and Cameron Tacos ❤

My first time trying Cali Mex and I definitely was not disappointed! I ordered the chicken tacos and my husband got Al Pastor tacos and they were both delicious. Awesome food & super friendly staff! Can't wait to make this one of our regular date night spots in Lakeway!

First time trying R19 Taqueria, IT WAS AMAZING💯🔥 guac, chips & salsa were fantastic! I SUGGEST THE POLLO ASADO MULITA, ASADA FRIES & THE CALI BURRITO! Family Friendly restaurant, definitely coming back here soon!
