RA Sushi Bar Restaurant

This was my first time here, and let me just say… I was impressed. Our server Don and his trainee were absolutely on point—attentive, kind, and genuinely made the whole experience better from the start. Now let’s talk about the drinks: not only were they gorgeous, but they tasted just as good. I tried an Asian-inspired Old Fashioned for the first time, and the bartender nailed it—smooth, balanced, and full of flavor. We kicked things off with the popcorn shrimp appetizer (a crowd favorite, according to my friend), and it definitely lived up to the hype. Then came the rolls… wow. They deserve a drum roll all on their own—fresh, savory, and plated like art. Bonus points for management, too. You could tell they cared—they were visible, engaged, and made sure every table had top-tier service. Will I be back? Absolutely. Already planning round two.

Came here a few times on different occasions. Have tried various sushi rolls and they’re always prepared fresh, tastes amazing, and the presentation is great. During lunch time they’re usually less busy and noise level is quiet to moderate. During dinner time they do tend to get crowded quickly, so depending on what time and day guests plan to come, there can be a bit of a wait to get seated. Servers are all very helpful and friendly, as well as knowledgeable about the menu. Definitely recommend checking this place out for a fun night out with friends or family.

With a name like Ra, I expected a standout sushi experience, but unfortunately, it fell short. The menu is surprisingly limited—especially when it comes to rolls. Shockingly, there was only one raw roll available, and it was overpriced for what it offered. This was my second visit. The first was during happy hour, which felt like slightly better value, but overall the food has been consistently mediocre. For a sushi spot, I expected fresher options and a more dynamic menu. On a positive note, the ambiance is really well done—modern, stylish, and great for any occasion. It’s a shame the food doesn’t live up to the setting. Service was just okay—not terrible, but not as attentive as it should have been, especially since it wasn’t busy during dinner. In summary: beautiful space, but underwhelming food and value. Not sure I’ll be back.

Okay so I came here last night for a friend’s birthday and I was anything BUT impressed. The best part of the experience was leaving. First off the server left us hanging around 20-30 minutes no drinks no waters nothing. I also had ordered a virgin mojito which was still $15! when I asked about it they said “Oh you see here $10 was taken off since it was virgin” meaning the regular is $25? Outrageous! The food is not up to par with their prices. If you are going to be charging a substantial amount- the food needs to be exemplary. As well, since we were celebrating a birthday we wanted to be cute and take pictures of her and the dessert, but couldn’t because NOTHING had been cleaned off the table! As someone who works in Fine Dining this is completely unacceptable. Then as the shot people were coming by the person with the whistle came right by my ear and that infuriated me in itself as well. Anyways, needless to say I will not be back nor recommending.

Had a great experience at RA Sushi Bar! The food was fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. Our server, Matt, was fantastic — very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. He really added to the overall experience. Will definitely be coming back!

I would rate the overall experience a 1-star for multiple reasons. Starting with a requested liquor drink that was marked at $15 but the suggested drink from the bartender was marked as $35+ with zero transparency. Bartender When you're a bartender there's a level of transparency that needs to be offered once you suggest a drink, price point was never mentioned. A whole $20 difference when you ask for an old-fashioned is honestly insane. I will never come back to this establishment. Once you lose trust there's no reason to spend your money at a place. Mind you this was during a slow period before happy hour. Manager was extremely dismissive and not helpful at all. To feel like you're being scammed when you're expecting a night out with a nice atmosphere is horrible. To add insult to injury they haven't had an inspection for their elevator in years so honesty shouldn't be expected.

Visited on a Saturday night around 9:30. The music was extremely loud, more like a nightclub than a restaurant, which really took away from the dining experience. Our server was kind and attentive, but the overall service was disorganized. Orders were mixed up — we received edamame we didn’t order, and our sushi rolls took 30–45 minutes to arrive, some going to the wrong table first. Around 10:30, the focus shifted to a loud free shot giveaway with servers carrying lights, which felt unnecessary and over the top. We would've appreciated better service over a show. Great vibe for a party crowd maybe, but not ideal for a relaxed dinner.

My food just didn’t hit like the bill. The service was mediocre and the food wasn’t really great as I expected. I wasn’t blown away Ra Sushi was the place to go for the best Sushi and drinks but I don’t know the taste has changed

The ambiance was semi romantic. The huge, open windows on a beautiful cool night added to the experience. Our waitress was helpful and attentive. The food was not filling but we left very satisfied. The drinks were fun. Definitely recommend.

I went to enjoy my birthday lunch with my birthday gift coupon. Ordered the terriyaki steak bento box with sashimi. Very good deal at about $20 and beautiful presentation too. It took about 15-20 mins for the food to arrive. When I started eating the salad, it was "dry" with very stingy dressing. I requested for more dressing and the manager brought out a small bowl of it! I enjoyed the sashimi except the salmon sashimi which was thin and mushy. The tempura was great. I requested for medium rare for the steak and it came medium well. I was disappointed and informed waitress because I do not like steak overcooked. She asked the manager to come and he inspected the steak closely and said they can remake a new one. Then he awkwardly said he needed to remove these existing pieces of steak. I was quite surprised so I didn't dare touch the food not knowing what to do. It took another 15 mins for the new steak to arrive and by then I was starving. They served new steak in a bowl filled with rice & onions which I thought was nice of them. I was happy to see the steak cooked to medium rare perfection this 2nd time around. However, I was appalled that the manager actually brought fork and spoon to scoop the existing meat from my existing bento box. I have never experienced this before and wondered the purpose of it. Just felt kind of weird like he thought I am trying to cheat them of extra meat! I didn't have much appetite after this happened and all the waiting so decided to just pack to go. This is not my first time there but definitely a first weird experience with the service by the manager.

RA is a great sushi spot with beautiful ambiance. It was well-decorated for Valentine's Day, and the vibe is very romantic and cozy. I had a mango margarita with a tajin rim, and it was delicious. The food came out very quickly, and was also delicious. I had the "Ra"-ckin' roll and a salmon and avocado roll. The quality was great and the food was delicious. Would come by again!

I decided to utilize the birthday voucher at RA sushi this year. Just a heads up that none of the happy hour menu items are included, which I didn't realize until I got the bill! Luckily I only had one of the mocktails from the menu, which was delicious. I want to say Carribbean Passion. It was delicious! I decided on the ahi tuna poke bowl. The tuna was great - nice smooth texture. It had just thr right mix of ingredients and sauce. I would highly recommend this dish if you like poke. The down side was that the bowl was too small so I had to ask for another one. Also it took a while for me to be acknowledged and a while after I finished my food for me to get the bill, which was kind of a downer. This also happened at the other RA sushi place as well. I sat at a high top near the open air section, which was nice! It was a nice, breezy day so it was a very relaxing atmosphere. Not bad for a free birthday meal!

My sister and I visited RA for dinner. The place is big and beautiful, with amazing view, dimmed lights, and a fun atmosphere. It's a place where you can enjoy a celebration. The service was very good. We started with pork gyozas, this came quick, nice golden crust, flavorful, and sweet sauce to dip in, it was good. Then I had a lobster shrimp roll, fresh flavors, sweet pesto to go with it, very good. My sister had a Spicy lobster roll, this was 6 pieces. Good flavor on the lobster "crab" meat, which was surimi not crab. We also had the Gojira roll, this was our favorite, best combination of flavors, textures and good kick. I recommend going to RA for the fun experience, and the beauty of the place.

Love coming here for happy hour. I came in a Friday and it wasn't as busy as usual. Sat at the bar and had a couple drink and some food.

Was able to participate in Happy Hour at RA and there were no disappointments. There's a looping staircase that leads you to the restaurant, but it is also elevator accessible. Our server, Herbert, was very kind and funny and the food came out fairly quickly. I got the crispy spicy tuna, spicy salmon roll and wicked watermelon cocktail. The crispy spicy tuna is typical spicy tuna on top of crispy rice. The rice was a little too hard and took away from how good the dish had the potential to be. The spicy salmon was excellent, no complaints. The Wicked Watermelon is a fruit forward, frozen cocktail and is a PERFECT drink for the summer (especially in Texas). Highly recommend!

Great service from my waiter Naia ! She was very attentive in checking up on my table. Super sweet person and took great care of me. Food got out pretty quick on Sunday night. Everything tasted great ! Very cute place for date nights if you're craving late sushi

Definitely join their birthday club! Not only do they send you $20 giftcard for your birthday but you also get one for your half birthday too. I got some crab sushi with their rackin shrimp fried rice and sangria. I sat at the bar and enjoyed my meal while watching the game on their tv. I love the setup at this location. You get some nice views upstairs. Just want people to use common sense at the elevator and let people exit off before blocking them trying to get in lol. Other than that my food and experience was good.

Amazing food -we enjoyed the yellow tail sushi roll and filet mignon and chicken hibachi Matt was our server was very attentive and took great care of us! Highly recommend for late night sushi

This food was really good! First time trying that type of roll and I have no complaints! I tried the pork gyoza off of my friend's plate, and had to have an order of my own! The rice was decent, wish it had more flavor. The service was quick! Nice setting!

Good basic sushi restaurant. More of a bar vibe and meet up place than a high quality sushi restaurant. Service at the bar was slow but I've experienced better and quicker service on other experiences from different bartenders so it just depends on who feels like making tips lol. They have a DJ here so???????idk how I feel about that but I guess so Club Ra

RA is very romantic and perfect for a date night out! Madori was AMAZING! So sweet and helped us pick out the best sushi rolls, drinks, and entree's. Definitely recommend coming here, 10/10!!

Madori was absolutely amazing!!! I love how detailed she was about my take my order and reading it back to me!! We had quite big table and she handle everyone order really well and everyone was happy with service and tip well!! Thank you again Madori! BTW reverse happy hour is everything

I loved the upbeat atmosphere. I also loved the Ra-ving reviews from Ra that I read on Yelp. We celebrated my nephews 21st birthday and had an AMAZING TIME. Madori was amazing and made an amazing experience even better!! We had a terrific time celebrating his birthday. If a sushi bar is on your RA-dar, come on over to Ra Sushi!! We enjoyed the Adult only roll and the Martinis were Ra-Zor sharp!! ;).

REMOVE immitation Krab from 9 out of 10 rolls. I was left with virtually NO choice seeing Krab in almost every roll. Have you watched the video on how this slop is made? YouTube it. You'll NEVER eat it again. Shame. Shame. I get it, keeping the $$ down but 20 dollar rolls deserve better quality products. I'll NEVER come back.

Seated quickly. Very dark so I had a hard time reading the menu so I had my daughter order for me. I ended up with the Adult Only roll which was presented with a flame show. Ended up being very good but it does leave a smoky taste in your mouth for a while afterwards. The pineapple wontons were scrumptious. Service was quick and helpful. Overall we enjoyed it and for a Friday night we were happy we didn't have a wait.

WOW WOW WOW !!! This place is so amazing in every sense! Location, parking, ambiance, food and service! 10 out of 10!!! Definitely coming back! LOUI our server was so great with everything, from helping us chose our drinks and food to his service, make sure you request him! We got seated by the floor to ceiling windows and got this great view! And if I didn't mention it, this restaurant is on the second floor, very nice energy. We ordered sushi rolls, fried rice, gyozas and wings, every single item was delicious and the drink, OMG so good! They have a frozen shot with watermelon and guava, be careful! It's so good you will keep ordering. There is valet and the area is very safe and beautiful.

The food is always consistently good here and they have a great happy hour selection. Reservations not really required for weekdays. Service is always great and food comes out quick. Didn't have one this time but usually always have to order their lychee martini. Large seating with beautiful views overlooking highland village. Lots of spaces to park as well.

What happened to this place lol after 8 place basically turned into a club. Music was insanely loud and felt like we just needed a couple of stages and poles. I was not prepared for this. Was expecting was sushi chill and conversation but left alcohol on the table and bailed.

I enjoy this place, a little bit of a drive for me almost an hour, but the atmosphere was good, sat at the bar until some friends arrived, then we all had dinner. Very Pleasant, good tasting, fresh quality.

I think for some time, Ra sushi has neglected its core audience. In the beginning, they were booming and vibrant and really customer-centric, but along the lines, they lost it. However, I think they are making good and effective strides now! I went today and met with Troy and Isaac. Even upon walking the stairs, Troy was very personable and charismatic. Then Isaac came, and he's in training, but you can very much tell that he has server experience. He was extremely charming and relatable. And we even started chatting about one of my top shows, big brother. Like people bothering me during meals, but they asked the perfect amount of times if I was good, and I really appreciated that. Ra Sushi.. let me tell you... if you can hire more people like Troy and Isaac and really get back to the core of who y'all once were... your reviews will be better, and your stars will get higher! Starting with the two shining stars, Isaac and Troy!

I have been to two locations in Houston. Memorial and river oaks and I like this one a lot. Lively shopping area for the win. Go on a Sunday for a great all day happy hour. Las Vegas sushi is my favorite and they have good sake. I always get a variety of things. The spicy shrimp was great and the wontons awesome. Not a full 5 star mostly because the tables and floors around the tables at the bar seem to always be sticky! The chairs are often the same. I have found myself asking for service to the table before even sitting down and that is with a hostess walking me over! Definitely a fixable problem but I will continue to go because I do enjoy it. Plan to spend around $50-80 on a happy hour date but more for any other time. Atmosphere is great. The stairwell is a lovely spot for pictures with the red globe lights. But there is still an elevator for accessibility

My sister and I came here for drinks and food. It was such a nice atmosphere that we ended up staying longer and having great conversation with the bartender. The service was fast and the people around us were also friendly. We had such a pleasant experience here and enjoy coming back.

Service was amazing! They asked politely if we wanted a free photo which was a unique experience but on top of it all the sushi was delicious, as a picky eater myself I enjoyed it. It was my first time trying the sushi and I was nervous but to my surprise I really liked it.

I've come to RA a few times since living in Houston. The first few times I went, it was great and I loved it. I went two times in the past two weeks, and not only was service borderline nonexistent, but I got terrible food poisoning both times. Quite unsettling when it comes to sushi. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to come back. The sushi is very good but it seems as though something is not being prepared right, at least with the Viva Las Vegas Roll. Not only that, but our drinks came out wrong both times after waiting 30+ minutes for them.

My oh my!!!! We made a reservation online to try Ra and we're so glad we did!!! The staff was friendly and attentive, the yellow tail appetizer was divine! Actually, all of the food and drinks we tried were divine! I look forward to going back and trying more items!!!!

I wasn't a huge fan of the sushi selection we ordered, perhaps that was on us. The noodles weren't all that either, we got them as a suggestion from our waiter who said LOVED THEM, I just didn't get the same taste that he was describing. Overall the food wasn't bad but it wasn't anything that I think was worth coming back for (unfortunately). The service took a while. We waited for a loooooong time before being asked for drinks or food, I will say that when we did see our waiter he was absolutely great. He gave us recommendations for good food and set the tone for a fun food experience. The only downside is that we didn't really see him that much .

This is my second time at this location. I tend to go when I have a birthday reward lol. They share a parking lot with many businesses but I've never had an issue finding parking. It is located on the second floor, I assume there's an elevator but I always take there stairs. You're greeted by a hostess or host and can select your preference of table. I tend to go for the tables by the windows overlooking Westheimer. I was starting to think the food was going downhill but I tried some new items and really enjoyed them. The ceviche tacos were surprisingly good. Their drinks are also pretty good. Service can be slow but not too bad. There's definitely better sushi spots if that's really what you're going for but for a chain with my coupon it does the trick.

Vibe- This is definitely a good spot for happy hour or a date night! The lights are dimmed and there's a candle lit on the tables :) there's a bar with plenty of seating as well. Customer service- Great! Food/drinks- I got the white peach sangria and onion rings from the happy hour menu. I got vegetable fried rice without egg as well. Everything was delicious! Parking- There's a good amount of parking in the lot the restaurant sits in.

Fun sushi + bar in a beautiful area. I had a great time and the food was delicious! Service was quick and the wait staff were very friendly. Definitely coming back here again soon!

Not only does RA sushi have great food, but they have great servers too. I'm currently at the Westheimer location and am being helped by Justice. She makes me love RA even more than I already do. She smelled amazing, had awesome food recommendations (literally knows the drink and food menus back to front), kept our drinks filled, and made sure to keep us up-to-date on the status of our food/drink orders. 10/10 recommend that if you go to this location, you should request to sit in her section!

Madori, our server, was great! Ordered the shishto peppers, spicy crispy rice, and chili ponzu yellowtail roll. All pretty good. Got the cinnamon ice cream tempura. The tempura is soft and not crispy. Ra Sushi is a place we used to come years ago. Menu has changed a lot. Real fish is now replaced with krab. What is krab? No one knows.

Good sushi for a good price! Always a good time with the people there! If your looking for a casual night out this is a the place to go! My favorite is the Nigiri salmon

I believe this was the first RA Sushi in Houston and since then, they have opened quite a few other locations in the general area. When it first opened, it was the place to be. Located in the River Oaks area, it was trendy and place to impress. Parking sucks but doable. I have only been at night to this location and it has more of a club atmosphere rather than a sushi bar. That is not necessarily a bad thing depending on what kind of mood you are in. Reservations are recommended but depending on the time or day, you can get in without one pretty easily. Customer service has always been good on all my visits. The one thing my friends and I love about this place is the Happy Hour. I feel like they have one of the better ones in town. It is not like other places where they have just a few select items. Their Happy Hour menu has quite a few good options. Drinks wise, I tend to go with cocktails here. Most of the cocktails have an Asian, tropical twist to them. I can't say that I have had anything I haven't liked. They make a really good mango martini. They also have an excellent selections of hot and cold sakes and beers as well. Food wise, I will say even though it's a sushi bar, it isn't mind blowing sushi. They have it all. They have specialty rolls, sashimi, nigiri, hand rolls, etc. I think it's on par with any other run of the mill sushi joint. It's good though. Their non sushi items are pretty good. I've had many of the appetizers, bowls and hot plates. On my last visit I had the Black Pepper Sirloin Steak. The flavors were on point, but the cut of meat was so so. As I have gotten older, I find myself steering away from places like this. At night it is loud and you have to yell and listen extra carefully when conversing with friends or on a date. I still give them four stars for my past experiences and overall having good experiences. I'm sure I will be back at some point.

Ra Sushi is always a vibe. The food is either a hit or miss. My last visit the food was awesome. We had hibachi style chicken and beef with fried rice. The Las Vegas roll is my favorite. Essence gave great recommendations and great service.

One thing I love is sushi. I have tried sushi all over and RA Sushi has great rolls. Me and my fiancé visited during happy hour (around 4 pm on a Saturday). For drinks I ordered the Wicked Watermelon and the Blazin' Dragon. Both were really good but the Wicked Watermelon is a MUST try. For sushi we got the Las Vegas rolls, and gyozas. We got the hibachi as well and it was really good. Our server was fast and very attentive. The ambiance was okay, it just was very cold and a little quieter than normal. Maybe they could turn up the music a little.
