My husband and I love Raas! Great staff and fantastic food. We have been coming here for a date night at least once or twice a year for the past 6 years or so. My favorite is the Duck Breast Korma and his is the Lamb Shank Rogan Josh. The most recent time we visited, I noticed a small flyer for the High Tea! I attended with my sister and mother in law, as we love a good tea time! The tea and snacks were delicious! 10/10 will make it a new tradition for the girls in our family. We appreciate how the chef, GG, always checks to make sure everything is up to his perfected standard and Aaron was a pleasant waiter and host as always! We can't wait to come back!

Raas is a very special place for my wife and I as we can eat whatever level of spice we want (I like, she don’t). They will customize your dish to meet you where you are at with spices. They took us right away as walk-ups with no reservations and didn’t care at all what we were wearing. Although I would recommend reservations for the weekends! Outside porch seating and inside seating is comfortable and clean. We loved the Saag Paneer Kofta and Salmon (see pictures). Aaron, Sean, and the head chef took great care of us! Thank you!

Excellent start to the weekend with a little bit of spice! Raas has a very large menu so it is hard to make a decision. In the end, we selected some winners. What an experience. The wait staff is well-trained and very professional. The chef, GG, came to our table and talked through almost every menu selection with regards to spice and allergens. We found out the waiter was on his 5th day but you would never know it. He explained to us that he has been doing this for many years and had been a server in NYC, Vegas, Chicago, etc and that he was a true professional server. It made for one of the better dining experiences that I’ve had in a long time. Of course, always start with a cocktail. I went with the Indian spin on a Marguerita with mango, Indian chilis and peppered tequila. Hot!! My wife had the “Indian Winter” which is Vanilla Vodka, Honey Cardamom Simple, Lemon Juice, Angostura bitters, and Star Anise. She loved it (no pic). Raas offers several different types of naan and I insisted on the chili cheese. Spicy! For appetizers, we selected Tandoori Prawns and Chicken Seek Kabobs. The shrimp were grilled and delicious but that fresh “slaw” they were served with was outstanding. The chicken kabobs were interesting. It was ground chicken mixed with herbs. The appearance is unusual but after one bite I made the statement, “I could eat a whole bucket of those”. Dinner was a tougher choice. My wife and I both had numerous entrees that we were debating but in the end we went with Cinnamon Curry Chicken and the Lamb Shank Rogan Josh. What you first notice is the perfect preparation of the rice. It is small grain, light, fluffy, and doesn’t stick. It’s spot on. My wife was very pleased with her dish. Like most Indian food, it has a lot of herbs and spices with the cinnamon at the front. My Lamb Shank originally came out in a copper bucket where the server carefully pulled it out of the bucket to keep the meat intact. It was literally falling off the bone. It was tender and the sauce was outstanding (not spicy). However, there was a saffron pulao on the side that almost melted my face off. Spicy and delicious. By this time we were stuffed but why not get dessert? They make their own ice cream and we went with Mango, Tamarind, and Saffron. I love tamarind but that flavor was just ok for me. I found the saffron ice cream to be my favorite and it is very smooth and light for a saffron-based dish. The star of the dessert show was the chocolate mousse. Very complex and very dark, it paired well with our aged port. One note, we found ourselves loving the music, a blend of lounge covers of songs from bands like Radiohead and the Beatles. One Shazam and we found an artist named Karen Souza. Understand there is a time and place for this type of music but it is definitely late night bourbon background jam material.

I've been here for the second time. the first time was too long ago. It's really nice inside, a mixture of modern with antique charm. We had a great server, and all the people we interacted with were great. The food is really great, with wonderful spices and flavors. My family and myself definitely left full and satisfied and full. Wish there was room for dessert.

What a lovely restaurant with a beautiful atmosphere and incredible food! The owner GG was so friendly, he came out to chat with us and offer recommendations. Such a sweet guy! It’s such a light and cozy place to eat and the food was the best Indian food we’ve had anywhere at the beaches. Everything was incredible and the service was above and beyond. Thank you to GG and the staff for a wonderful dining experience- we will be back for sure!

Folks, let me tell you about a wonderful evening my family and I had at Raas, celebrating my sister's birthday. Now, my sister, she's got these dietary needs, you know, gluten and dairy restrictions, and let me tell you, the folks at Raas, they were on the ball. They knew their menu inside and out, could tell you everything about what's in each dish, and they whipped up some truly delicious options that were just right for her. We kicked things off with some appetizers that were out of this world – Beef Stuffed Jalapeno, Beef Shammi Kebab, and Cauliflower Manchurian, each with its own unique flavor. And the cocktails? Folks, we had a few – the Cucumber Mint Mojito, Orange Cardamom Mojito, Tandori Nights, and Drunken Lassi, each one as refreshing as the next. When it came time for the main courses, we dove into some real treats. The Mushroom, Scallion & Green Pea Masala, Chicken Tikka Masala, GG's Special Chicken Cafrea, and the Tandoori Salmon – I mean, this food was comforting, rich, and just packed with flavor. And the breads, the Roti and Garlic Naan, perfect for soaking up all those wonderful sauces. But I'll tell you, the real highlight of the evening was meeting the owner, GG. What a guy! Friendly, welcoming – even snapped a photo of us before we headed out. Raas, it's more than just a restaurant; it's a place where you feel like part of the family. Exceptional food, attentive service, and just a warm atmosphere all around. We're definitely planning on going back soon.

I had the most wonderful experience at Raas! The service was fabulous, attentive and well informed. I loved being able to watch our smiling chefs preparing the food. Each dish was prepared perfectly and had a depth of flavor I had not experienced prior to this. Best Indian/pan Asian food I have ever tasted. Can’t wait to go back!

Another wonderful meal at Raas. We did not have a reservation and it’s a busy night. We asked if we could eat at the bar and the hostess seated us promptly. Our bar tender Jason took great care of us. The service was excellent as always and the food fabulous! Chef GG is the best!

Yelp
Visited Raas on our second night in Lewes after our ferry got in. We came pretty late, maybe around 7:45pm so it was definitely starting to clear out. When you walk up, there's pretty lighting outside which I imagine would be nice if it wasn't 45 degrees and windy. The restaurant is in one of the big houses you see along the streets and it's been converted into a restaurant but still has the bones of the house. You can tell someone once lived in it, which is really neat. We had a waitress who was insanely nice and helpful. I can't recall her name but she was everything. She guided us through the menu and helped with my food allergy and somewhat picky eating habits. She also chit chatted with us at the end and answered some questions about the area. We ended up getting the chili olive naan (pictured) as an appetizer and she recommended we go light on the chili based on our likes/dislikes, and this was good for us. I ordered the game hen for my entree and it was plated beautifully (pictured). The green sauce was surprisingly so good and I wish I had more. Everything was cooked perfectly. For dessert, we had the mousse (pictured), which she assured us was allergy friendly and checked twice. It was very unique and light yet filling. I'm surprised I liked this place because I don't typically love Indian food but this place made me want more! Definitely recommend coming here.

Yelp
We had such a terrible experience from the very moment we stepped at their door. We did a walk-in with kids and they said there is a wait, which was fine with us considering we we did a walk in. We decided to wait since it was late and kids were hungry and sleepy and it was getting chilly outside. So we waited inside and the receptionist straight away came and told us we need to wait outside as we are on their way. This was to me very rude as we had pretty young kids and we were just thrown outside in the cold. Next - when we got seated our group was split into two. They had empty tables and even after requesting them the chef and their staff members did not accommodate. There was no serving spoons provided, our request to make an item less spicy was also rejected (again we had kids) so we just wanted the lentils to be mild, but it was a NO. For the exorbitant amount of money they charge for their food, we at-least expected a decent meal together as a family with a good service.

Yelp
We came here with another couple for dinner on a Saturday to celebrate a birthday and the overall experience was great! The food was amazing Indian food and kind of unexpected for Lewes. All of our appetizers were great, especially the cauliflower. I ordered the chicken tikka masala for my entree and it was a really good version of your standard Indian dish. My husband's lamb shank was also really good and flavorful and huge! The restaurant was super accommodating and helpful in getting dessert out for our friend's birthday, too and made it a nice experience and a bit of a surprise!

Yelp
Always Delicious and attentive service. Our favorite spot in Lewes. I highly recommend the garlic naan for those who love lots of garlic.

Yelp
We were so excited but then disappointed but Raas. The ambiance was cute from the outside and on the inside at first glance but it ended up being almost too loud to hear my partner across the table. The food wasn't terrible but absolutely not worth the price. I would try again because it's come highly recommended but fool me twice...

AJ J.

Yelp
The ambiance was very cozy and intimate with a view of the chef's station. The owner and our server Lindsey were so warm and welcoming. Due to it being my first time there they assisted me with making my selections and I enjoyed every dish.

Yelp
Visited Lewes and specifically made a point to visit Raas based on the stellar reviews and buzz that the restaurant has generated in the media. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed and the friendly staff and chef himself curated a remarkable experience that I will not forget! From the moment we arrived, we were immediately seated and greeted by warm welcome staff members that were sincere and authentic. Our party started off with the cucumber mint mojito, mango lassi, orange cardamom mojito and spicy mango margarita for drinks. All were extremely refreshing and poured to perfection. For appetizers, we ordered the cauliflower manchurian, chili cheese garlic naan and the honey chili water chestnut. Our favorite was the chili cheese garlic naan but all were filled with exquisite flavors that are unique and make all of the hype worth it! The signature Dal Lalla Musa was my absolute favorite and one of the best indian entrees I've had in America! Overall, I cannot rave higher about how phenomenal my experience was at Raas. It was evident why they were voted Yelp 100 top restaurants. If you are remotely close to the Lewes area, you must try!! Recommend 12/10

Yelp
This is a lovely restaurant, really nice ambience. The service is flawless and the owner was very gracious. The food is mostly typical Indian dishes you'll recognize, but what you can taste is freshness. It's like they gathered the spices and herbs yesterday. We watched our order of naan being made behind the glass wall of the kitchen. We were so satisfied by the flavors of the dishes we ordered. The food is really beyond reproach. However, the prices. They lose one star for charging $8 for a side of rice or bread. If your average entree is approaching $40, this seems unnecessary. We ordered cocktails, which are the usual fortune in this area, and we ordered way-overpriced dessert on top of our appetizers and entrees, so to have to pay extra for a bit more rice was just not right.

Yelp
I think it's safe to say that when visiting Sussex County, it can be very difficult finding traditional ethnic foods. After all, it's not the city. As the year round beach community grows, it's nice to find more diverse food options available. We arrived before our reservation and were welcomed to the bar to wait for friends. The cocktail menu was very nice with prices that match most fine dining restaurants. The Indian Winter was very good! Once we were seated for dinner, we chose to try multiple dishes and share them. I enjoyed it all, flavorful but not overpowering with spice. Service was very good. We left pleasantly full.

Yelp
Went here yesterday for my 30th birthday celebration and decided to make it a tradition to come every year! I made our reservations online so I didn't have a wait at all. Staff was very friendly and when told I tend to order the whole menu they gave me choices for what table I preferred and offered me a table in front of the open kitchen, very nice. We ordered spicy mango margaritas, garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, mushroom masala, and the star of the show the whole red snapper. Spicy mango margarita is on the sweet side and I love that, it had a nice kick from the fresh red chili bit. Garlic naan was delicious, nice and fluffy and crispy as well. Dipped in the masala made a wonderful pair, but I enjoyed it on its own. Chicken tikka masala you can't go wrong with, it was delicious with all the right amounts of seasonings. The mushroom masala was good as well with more of a coconut aromatic. The red snapper!!!! THE RED SNAPPER!!!! The red snapper was one of the BEST dishes I've had and I'm a serious foodie! This was a market price item and I see the Karen's on here with the negative reviews... first off let me be sure to break this down for the Karen's... the red snapper comes as the whole fish, it's usually 2-3.5 pounds which would be more than enough to feed 2! We had a 2 pound snapper for $120 which is not a bad price at all beings you are at a fine dining restaurant and all that it comes with. If you want a cheap fish meal go to Applebees and get the frozen salmon. This dish was very well worth it! We got the hot garlic sauce with it and it came piping hot while our waiter Curtis carved it for us it was steaming and the aromatics had us salivating. It comes with a bunch of veggies on the side that were nice and buttery and garlicky, we loved it!! I even thought about going back tonight just to order it again.

Yelp
Great food but too expensive. I had two dishes and some rice delivered for +$100 I love Indian food and have been to India multiple times.. the spice in this is a bit mild.. probably not to upset the typical American palette.. but I enjoy the authentic best.. I could probably order authentic.

Jeamie P.

Yelp
Jessi M lacks reading skills... *Ignorant Jessi, where do I say you are associated with Rasikas? Where does it show I changed my order with the exception of a non-spicy salmon? Where are your facts? We frequent Rasikas *(NOT RAAS) in their DC locations. This place *(RAAS which I never associated with Rasikas) doesn't come close to their *(Rasikas) flavors. Saag Paneer was sweet with no flavor. The Chicken Tikka Masala had more sweet/spicy flavor but tasted and resembled more of a Butter Chicken. My 14-year old had a non-spicy Tandoori Salmon and he said the textured was off. This was not fresh salmon, it was frozen salmon and cooked dry. Fresh salmon is still quite an oily fish. Garlic Naan Bread was neither puffy nor crispy but chewy. Asked if we would receive rice with all meals, not the case. Not impressed. $126 food bill will be better spent at another establishment.

Roshni P.

Yelp
Went into this restaurant with low expectations for Indian cuisine. We were more than wowed by the food, presentation and ambience. Elegant, upscale, not inexpensive. The flavors hit the spot. The chef, we learned, has extensive experience with many culinary establishments in India and that certainly shines through each dish. Some of the items we enjoyed were tandoori shrimp, crab cakes, lamb biryani, scallops, lamb Rogan Josh. Go, try it - you will not be disappointed.

Neals M.

Yelp
Food was great I felt the cauliflower dish had little bit more salt (but I eat less salt) , service awesome and somber Ambiance we will be visiting next time we are in town

Yelp
It's like a Monty Python Sketch at Raas in Lewes, DE June 2023 Before writing this, I read every review on Yelp and Trip Advisor. I wanted to reassure myself that we weren't crazy in the visceral reaction we had to Raas in Lewes, Delaware. I kid you not, I thought we were in an episode of Monty Python's Faulty Towers! But after reading all the reviews and talking with the Chef, I see that these are his policies and he isn't going to change. We didn't experience Market Price sticker shock but we did think $238 for a table of 5, with only one glass of wine and 2 of our guests were 10 year olds, was exorbitant. But this wasn't the Monty Python moment of the night.... We were a party of 5 and were told when we made the reservation, if we waited an extra 45 minutes, we could have a table for 5. I said we had two hungry children and could they possibly seat us? Here is silly me thinking the place was packed! The person on the phone (it turns out it was the Chef), said he could squeeze us in to a table for four. When we arrived, the restaurant was half full. We were put in a private dining room with 6 empty tables- all four tops. However, they would not let us put two tables together. The other tables were empty the entire time we were dining. So, food, which was quite delicious, was thrown on our table like it was slop. There just wasn't enough room for the dishes and our plates and we were squeezed into one table. Our very nice waiter, Wayne, kept having to take plates away because there was no room. It was a Monty Python sketch all the way! When we were done and my party left, I stayed to speak with the Chef. He was absolutely not interested in rethinking his policy of not combining tables. When I said I felt this was poor customer service and I might write a review, he spoke about how he would respond to whatever I said and it felt quite threatening. Folks, this chef is riding on his laurels from the Yelp top 100. As Abraham Lincoln said, "You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time." It may take a few years, but all the lousy policies of table minimums, no tables together, arguing with customers, over-priced cocktails and food, not telling customers market price, etc., etc., will come back to roost at Raas in Lewes, Deleware.

K W.

Yelp
Really nice addition to Lewes downtown. The flavors are great, and the staff is very helpful. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
The naan is by far the best I have eaten ever! I'd like to just stop and get the naan as a snack. We enjoyed our food. We had the spinach and kale chat, papadam (pricey for $15), duck, GG chicken, and finished with pistachio ice cream. I feel like this restaurant is trying for high end Indian, but there are touches which are a bit casual like the plastic menu and service (which the server was totally fine and nice), to command these prices. It's definitely pricey! Our dinner for 2 was $190! And we only had 1 glass of wine. We would definitely go back but probably order a bit differently next time (prob get more naan, butter chicken, and paneer, and only 1 appetizer) so it's a bit more manageable in cost.

Jordana W.

Yelp
Went to Raas tonight for dinner - we drove almost 45 minutes from Ocean City. This is the first time we had ever been there. We found the place on OpenTable.com. I know it has been rated very highly but it is a bit overpriced. We ordered Chai..and even though they make it fresh..$8.00 is a little pricey. The Chai was very tasty. I had a lamb dish which was good, but a lot of rice. They could have added vegetables to it. My husband had a cinnamon curry chicken which was quite lovely. Large portions of food so at least they did not skimp on that, but the prices were a bit high. Our server was okay - he did not come over until much later in the meal to ask if we needed anything- we both were out of water and needed more and we did decide to order more chai. However it would have been more attentive to come to our table and check on things earlier on in the meal. Theambience is very pretty - bright colors that I imagine you would see in India and cool lighting. A charming restaurant. I think we will come back the next time we are in the Lewes/Rehoboth area but we do not know when that will be.

Catherine B.

Yelp
We have 2 Indian restaurants within our driving range, so it is natural to compare: PARKING-Raas has none; Bombay Tadka in Easton (BT) has plenty AMBIANCE-Raas is lovely, upscale, soothing; BT is dark, depressing and rather tacky...Raas takes the win APPETIZER- Chaat at Raas had a thick, hard batter; BT's was light, crispy, expertly done. Both had delicious sauce. BT for the win KORMA- Raas was had an oddly/unpleasant tasting sauce with grey chunks of thigh meat; BT's is creamy, delicious and has chunks of top quality white meat. RICE-Raas has a strange rice that is super long grain with bits of things on top; BT has Basmati that is nicely flavored. BT takes this one too BUTTER NAAN- Raas has weird, spongy, inedible naan; BT has wonderful, buttery, flavorful bread. BT takes another GULAB JAMON- Raas has a delicious version with pistachios; BT's has a serviceable one with plain syrup. Raas wins on this. Service at both places is very good. The prices at Raas are almost double BT's. I think we'll put up with the less than gorgeous decor...

Charlie D.

Yelp
Another special experience at Raas tonight. Wonderful seeing and talking with Chef GG. What a special human. Great seeing and being served by Curtis the bartender. He is a gem. The guys in the kitchen are SO NICE and SO TALENTED! All our food was truly amazing. Don't miss the Manchurian Cauliflower!! Yum!! The Korma dishes are fantastic. The naan flaky and butterlicious Honestly, everything is great. Don't want to forget to say, the drinks were divine. Mango Lassi New Delhi Old Fashion ... Wowie. And let's not forget dessert!! You can't go wrong there. Everything is wonderful! EVERYTHING! For a fine dining experience, in a wonderful historic Lewes "home," absolutely charming, make sure you get to Raas!!!! Charlie D

Jeff P.

Yelp
Was here during the pandemic when we had cabin fever and took the ferry over from jersey today to relive and enjoy the place a bit more than that terrible time .. Soo good. The bartender Curtis was a character and really makes the experience pleasant.

The Lamb melted in the Mouth. Buttery Chicken - The Best! Lentils- Great. The 5 Apps Maggie Recommended - Sensational. #winning

Yelp
It's always satisfying when you find a place with impeccable service and mouthwatering food, and I've found it in Raas. Our server was attentive, informative, and kind from the moment we sat down. We had a whole fish and lamb shank and the fish was so good that we ate the whole thing just between two people. We already plan on coming back next year just for that! The desserts were unique and well thought out. The only reason it's not five stars for me is because the lamb wasn't totally fall of the bone (which was really okay) and it wasn't as seasoned as I would have liked. If you don't have enough of the sauce with it, it was under seasoned by itself.

Karen B.

Yelp
What a disappointing return to Raas. One of the people at our table ordered the whole fish at market price. We did not ask the price but I assumed it was in line with other more expensive entrées on their menu. Wrong. It was $140, more than three times their most expensive entrée. I think this was very deceptive on the restaurants part and we will certainly not be back anytime soon. ADDENDUM - Please note that the menu did not list the whole fish as a shareable large plate. In addition, while describing the whole fish, the server did not mention that it was 3 lbs despite knowing that it was being ordered as an entree by a small, thin lady.

Patrick C.

Yelp
Scammy restaurant policies, overpriced dishes, and mediocre service, but tasty food. This restaurant has scammy policies that they hide from you until the last minute. This restaurant requires each adult at a table to order one entrée (roughly $30 each) or two small plates (roughly $15 each); they do not allow you to share one entree. Never mind whether you are hungry enough for one entrée each. If you do not follow this policy, they charge you $20. However, this policy is hidden in small print at the bottom of their menu and the wait staff does not inform you of this policy until you have already ordered your food. Then when the entrées come, they are actually SMALLER than the small plates. In this way the restaurant locks you into paying a higher price for a worse value. When the check was brought to us, the waiter informed us that we could have ordered less food if we had been seated at the bar. NO ONE told us this policy before we were seated. Complete scam, not to mention how overpriced this restaurant is. For example, I ordered a mango lassi for $14. What came was an eight ounce glass, half full of ice. Finally, the service was slow and uninspired. But I will give the restaurant credit for having very tasty food. Overall, we felt scammed and bamboozled into an overpriced, but tasty meal. If the management of this restaurant reads my review, I encourage them to either reconsider their policies or be more transparent.

P S.

Yelp
This was one of the best dining experiences!!! The drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts were all amazing! The flavors!!!!! I will be back!!

Ashwin J.

Yelp
Arrogant chef. Prices are stupid high and the way they game the system is underhanded and unfair. Prices change based on number of patrons. And you will never know about it until it is too late!! I have had better food at an Indian fast food joint and I am Indian!! !! I wanted to support this place but if the owner wants to be a dumbass then i have to let him and it .... Go!

Dimitri V.

Yelp
I truly hate writing negative reviews, so I put this off for months. Usually if I see a low rating for a restaurant, I don't bother going, so I am rarely disappointed. I will start off by saying the food was actually quite good, which is in keeping in line with the reviews that drove us to this Indian restaurant in Lewes. The wait staff was friendly, until we indicated that we weren't going to order any alcohol. After some absence he returned to take our order. As we were not that hungry, we proceeded to select some appetizers. He informed us that we would have to order two appetizers per person or one main item if we wanted to be served at the restaurant. My cousin wanted to leave then and there, but we convinced her to stay and gave the waiter our order. About half way into our meal, the owner/manager came over to "see how we were doing." I told him we were not happy about their ordering policy, since two appetizers per person, besides adding up to $30-40 pp, was more than we wanted to eat. He went into a long discourse on how Raas was a fine dining establishment, he needed a hefty tab to pay his wait staff adequately, and he had expended considerable resources taking care of a table that only ordered drinks, but occupied a table for hours and another table that insisted on sitting outside, forcing his staff to serve them in the cold night air. Seriously, did we need to hear this? The restaurant was only half full, and it was not the high season, so he should have appreciated our business. My cousin lives in Lewes, and he has forever lost her business. I am not sure if he has a clue what customer service is. Maybe he had a bad night, but I certainly will never find out.

Special K.

Yelp
We had high expectations but were sorely disappointed. Lovely building, setting, service and even presentation but the food was average at best. Why charge $30-40+ for curries? If it were spectacular I might not have balked but it is overpriced and to some it would be worth the spend to enjoy the unique setting and atmosphere.

Mark G.

Yelp
Fraudulent reservation system. Booked a table for 4 through OpenTable for the following night. After confirmation I saw the cancellation policy that states in order to cancel call 48 hours prior to the reservation. Tried to cancel and was charged $80. Called the restaurant and Open table. They each said I should call the other. The worst most frustrating experience

Maureen G.

Yelp
Easily the best restaurant in Lewes. Starting with our server ,Curtis. His customer skills are awesome. He makes a killer Manhattan with the best ingredients. I had the lamb shank. It was delicious, falling off the bone tender. I can't recommend highly enough. It's a jewel in Lewes, try it.

Amanda K.

Yelp
Bottom line: Excellent Indian food. Expensive but worth it. Highly recommend the lamb shank rogan josh. It comes on the bone but falls off easily into a warmly spiced sauce that we continued to use for dipping. Two of us split it with a couple of appetizers and Naan, and it was more than enough. The cauliflower Manchurian was also incredible. Sophisticated mix of Indian and Chinese flavors as well as texture - crispy fried outside with soft, not overly done cauliflower on the inside.

Peter C.

Yelp
Lovely, setting with reasonable ambience (although perhaps too much of an intrusive server). The food is reasonable, but remarkably overpriced. For example, each curry at a dinner last night for $38? Let's take a look at the Bombay club in Washington DC which is a classic much less expensive. I asked for extra rice - guess what another eight dollars. For dessert we tried the chocolate cake- $18 for possibly the smallest dessert piece of a chocolate cake one could think of. despite the lovely setting, not planning on returning.

Tosha N.

Yelp
Amazing! The owners and staff were genuine and knowledgeable! The food was out of this world! I am looking forward to my next visit!

Probably one of the best Indian food I tried. More of a fine Indian dining. Portions are smaller, very flavorful and delicious food. We got chicken tikka, lamb korma and Goan salmon & eggplant dish for an appetizer. Desert was scrumptious. Rice pudding, some chocolate one and the best ( and the weirdest) water chestnuts in coconut milk. The interior is bright, spacious and inviting, our waitress was very friendly and efficient ( and thanks for the "weird but you can't stop eating it" desert recommendation! Very enjoyable experience!

Yelp
Raas is our favorite restaurant to enjoy while in Lewes and never disappoints! Chef GG knows his stuff ... from the delicious food to the impeccable service, you can't go wrong. The historical building exudes ambiance and is well decorated. Raas according to the website literally means dance and also balance for your body. This amazing food is a dance party in your mouth and the flavors are so well balanced! What a fitting name! I love to start with the bacon wrapped plantains, the spinach kale chat and the cauliflower. All of the fish is fresh and well prepared, especially the whole branzino with the orange ginger sauce. It's such a treat and we order it regularly. There are many other tasty protein and vegetarian options. The sauces and cocktails are equally fantastic! And their naan and lachha paratha are the perfect accompaniments. Don't forget dessert! Finish up with their super flavorful homemade mango or coconut ice cream! You'll even find easy parking right around the corner.

Yelp
I really wanted to give this 4 1/2 stars, but the great items were so good that I rounded it up. To start off with the service and ambiance were excellent. My wife and I started off with the beef and potato keema. It is just a perfect dish. If the restaurant was not so nice, I would have licked the bowls to get the last bit of flavor out of it. We also had the tandoori shrimp. Perfectly cooked with just the right amount of balance and spice. Again I could have eaten 50 of them. Also the chili, cheese and garlic nan was just perfect. Just out of the oven, with multiple subtle flavors hitting you all at once. I could eat this every day of my life and still be happy when I was 99. The entrees were good but had some shortcomings. We tried the deconstructed pork and duck dishes. I understand what they are trying to do, e.g. traditional indian spices with perfectly cooked protein. However the execution did not quite live up top the theory. The pork was a bit overcooked and tough. Also by cooking it separately, it was not as flavorful as it could have been. The duck was fatty and not well seared. Duck needs a crispy skin, which this dish did not have. All in all I think for the entrees sticking with the traditional indian cooking methods probably works better. We are definitely going back, but will choose different entrees.

Yelp
Raas has a lot of fun modern plays on traditional Indian dishes. The owners take great pride in the restaurant and go out of their way to make sure every guest has an enjoyable meal.

Yelp
Highly overrated place. Food was good but nothing I would jump over my head. Service was as expected, no complaints. The food was super overpriced in my opinion, on top of that 20% tip is expected. One time stop for us.

Yelp
Amazing thoughtful and inventive food. Service was excellent with strong knowledge of all dishes.

Yelp
Had an amazing experience at RAAS Restaurant in Lewes! The food was out of this world delicious and the service was outstanding. The owner GG came out to visit with us, shared his experience with owning and operating the restaurant which added to our night. There aren't many ethnic fine dining restaurants in our area but happy to have found one! I highly recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
Disappointed, sorry to say. Was expecting flavour to go with the impressive menu. Also, as noted elsewhere, pricey.

Yelp
This was our first time at Raas and will not return. We had heard a couple of years ago that the food was outstanding so we gave it a try. We order for four people a couple of appetizers, some Naan, four standard Indian dishes (butter chicken, paneer, ...) and two mango lassis. No alcohol or desserts. The food was good but nothing outstanding. The portions were fairly small. The bill, however, came out to $285 for four people without tip! This place is CRAZY expensive for the quality and quantity of the food you get. At those prices I expected so much more than average food and small portions.

Yelp
The food was tasty but OMG the prices! Do NOT order the market-price fish without asking the price first unless you truly don't care what you spend; our 2-lb whole branzino cost nearly $100. Yes, that was a dish for two; still, it was very pricey for what we got. Likewise, our appetizers--three somosas and five battered-and-fried cauliflower florets--cost $16 each. Again, everything was well prepared, the service was friendly--it simply cost too much for what we got.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of Indian Food. I appreciate the depth of flavor yet the simplicity of the dishes. Lived in the UK and enjoyed India every week. RAAS' rendition of Indian Food, albeit unique, strays from what Indian food lovers desire. Further disappointing is the price point, recognizing the enhanced white table cloth service, doesn't, doesn't deliver the value.

Yelp
We have eaten Indian food countless places and have had the good fortune to have enjoyed some outstanding Indian food. Regrettably, this overpriced restaurant was most remarkably mediocre at best. The appetizer we chose was a beef kabob and was nicely spiced with heat too, however it was a very mushy pan fried patty not a kabob. The texture was just not appetizing and the sauce served with it was lacking in flavor and did not compliment the patty mush. We love Indian food because of the complex flavors found in truly good sauces. The Rogan Josh lamb shank had very tender and good lamb, however the sauce tasted like nothing more than a mild, bland chili powder and was not like any Rogan josh we have ever had. The chicken tikka massala also was very bland, like a can of tomato soup with a little cream in it. The house made ice cream trio was surprisingly good. The mango had a lot of ice crystals such that it seemed to be more of a sorbet. The pistachio had a good flavor. The rose flavor really came through, unlike some we have had were it was so delicate as to be nearly indistinguishable. The first cocktail with mango was very sweet but my husband liked it. The drink with the cardamom marmalade would have been better if they had shaken the cocktail to disperse the marmalade because you couldn't really taste the cardamom until the end.

Yelp
Everything was phenomenal. Someone is cooking with love here. The veggie dishes were great. I had the roasted cauliflower. Scallops appetizer is a must. The chicken tikka masala was on point. Everything tasted very fresh and light

Yelp
Raas Indian Pan-Asian Fusion. Wonderful food, staff and chef GG. We had a lot of questions and our waitress had great answers. We had Chili Olive Naan and Butter Naan, Tandoori Prawns, Cauliflower Manchurian, and Whole Tandoori Pomfret, a PomPom fish, aka Butter fish. Totally enjoyed our first experience with this wonderful cuisine. We could easily share everything we ordered.

Yelp
My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Raas while on a short stay in Lewes two months ago, and we've been talking about Raas ever since. Our server Brian was wonderful--he gave us some great menu recommendations, including the swordfish tikka, which was my favorite dish (just typing this is making me want to up and drive back to Raas so I can have some more!). Also phenomenal were the vegetable samosas and chicken tikka masala. Raas also had a great cocktail menu. I can't wait to try more dishes the next time we go to Raas!

Yelp
When turned away from other restaurants closing at same time as Raas, this staff invited our family in and made us feel that we were so special and wanted to please us in all aspects of our dining experience. This is the main focus of this place"dining experience". The owner himself came to speak to each table and spent time to provide us a history of his passion and journey to introduce Lewes to food made with flavors that hit and exceed all expectations. This is not your usual Indian cuisine. This is every bite made with love to induce a magic to your palate. They make all fresh with spices and even flowers to excite your senses. Each dish we tried both familiar or new shocked us to the uniqueness of this kitchen staff. Nothing traditional to traditional options. Dessert is a must for the bread pudding and the sorbets are exciting and add the perfect ending to a lovely meal experience. The staff were very attentive and offered so many options to venture trying if not sure what to taste. Going back again for special Father's Day meal since all picked as favorite restaurant in Lewes and Indian cuisine. Deserves above 5 star rating.
