The Essential Jewish Delis in Philly - Eater Philly

"Rachael’s Nosheri covers all the classics right in Rittenhouse, from nova lox, kippered salmon, and cream cheese on a bagel to matzo ball soup and Reuben, Rachel (a Reuben with coleslaw instead of sauerkraut), and kosher salami sandwiches. Don’t forget the egg cream." - Sarah Maiellano

Breakfast or lunch, all done right. Bagels and lox, delicious. Our group had everything from eggs to pancakes to bagels. Have been coming here for years. Sandwiches and soups are also excellent. My aunt, a lifelong Philly resident, brought us here every time we visited the city. Service is great, the owner overheard my daughter commenting that a pickle would go with the olives and her bagel. He brought out a plate of pickels for us. It's the little things. Not fancy just good.

Bagel with nova spread (similar to lox but not the same). Cost $4. Definitely tasty, little light on the Nova but still worth it for sure. Quick and pleasant service. Would definitely recommend this place.

I love this deli right off of Rittenhouse. In the tradition of kosher delis, the matzo ball soup is perfect. The rye is always fresh and the meats are always prefect. The neighborhood feel attracts all kinds of people and the counter man is quick to remember your "usual".

Just a random stop to this place. I very well enjoyed my breakfast wrap...good flavor. I see a lot of negative comments on here but I personally had a great experience. Can't give this place a bad rating. It served my purpose of getting a quick light breakfast that tasted good. I'd stop back if I was in the mood.😊

My original review is below. Changed rating because I find it really inconsiderate that this place seems to have closed permanently (from what I've heard the proprietor moved out of town and isn't returning) without a word to long standing customers or even the courtesy of a notice on the door. It's a shame because the food was very good and reasonable, though the main guy behind the counter was a bit gruff. Always good fresh food here, fast service. Wish they didn't have a sign on the door for the last month saying they'd open "maybe next week" after they've been closed for a month - original sign said they would reopen Jan 10. It's Feb 6. Anybody know what's up here? No info on website or at restaurant.

Best bagels! If you like a morning fish platter go here! I get there almost every weekend. my son had the Corned beef special and it was great. To the person who said they shouldn't say they are a kosher deli... they don't

please, don't waste your money here. i have no idea what happened to this place, but i went here a couple of days ago and had one of the worst dining experiences i've ever had. they used to be amazing! staff was super rude and unwelcoming. they all looked like they hated their jobs. my omelette was spongy and over cooked. floors were dirty, tables weren't bussed, coffee creamers were sitting in a bowl of water. an overall uncomfortable experience. there are tons of better options in the vicinity for breakfast and lunch.

I've been eating at Rachel's for years. Consistantly great food. In fact, I think they have the best Grilled Reuben sandwich I've had in Philadelphia. (Even better than Famous 4th Street) The portions are perfect and the prices are in line also. They always provide friendly, pleasing service. I point all my friends their.
