Meh, nothing spectacular.
After months of waiting for it to open, then finally finding a parking spot, today was the day. Ordered the "Italian" sub. If this place can't get this sandwhich right then they should be forced to strip the little tables of the little Italian flags.
The dressing, tomatoes, lettuce, giardiniera, meats and cheese were great. I have one gripe about the sandwich. It was difficult to eat magnified by stale bread. With Turanos up the street and Damatos delivering every morning to every other restaurant in the county, the bread should be the highlight. This was likely day old bread, maybe day and a half old bread. Too tough, too dry, and with each bite it broke dropping the middle contents. Dousing it in dressing helped, but a clear mask on their part to hide crappy product. If they are already cutting corners with the bread they won't be open long. Since I was the only one there at lunch-time, aside for the guys that seem to be "on the payroll", it looks like the end is near. This place won't see 2020.
The non-food gripe is the "tipping" at the cash register. Maybe it is a standard feature built into POS systems and the card reader, but this isn't a tipping position. The cashier isn't renting the cashier and working for tips. They are not making drinks like a bartender and keeping you in the bar stool with their whitty personality. I don't tip the cashier at Kohls, or Subway, or MCDonalds, so why here? She didn't even make the sandwich.
If you want a GREAT Italian sub go to Alpine on North Ave.
