Racines

"The roots of this bistro go back to the family history of the proprietors, a young couple: on one side of the family, a butcher's shop specialising in choice meats (especially milk-fed veal from the Limousin) and on the other, chickens and orchards. The chef, former second in command at L'Esquisse, knows all about good produce, as his dishes show: slow-cooked egg, crozets pasta, brezain cheese; onglet de veau (veal steak), polenta, grilled leek, garlic condiment." - Michelin Inspector

Excellent innovative dishes combined with traditional French cuisine. The service was perfect. The outdoor seating area was nice, but the tables a bit too close to each other and not the most beautiful area of Annecy so not full points

I really wanted to love this place. The food was beautifully presented and service was great. The oyster mushrooms were served room temperature which I would have preferred warm, but the main issue was how tough and chewy they were. It was difficult to cut them with a knife, therefore teeth were really put to the test. I feel like they were a touch under seasoned as well. The trout was perfectly cooked and well done with good flavors, but nothing to write home about. I also don’t love that there is a charge for tap water, but oh well!

We probably had too high expectations for this bistro. Being recommended by the Michelin guide in the gourmand section brings a big responsability, that's for sure. The atmosphere is a bit anonymous, although we have appreciated the music. Plates were well plated, tasted good but unfortunately not mind blowing as I was expecting. We were not expecting huge portions but not so tiny either. Service was slow. We ordered two glasses of wine to pair with the entree, we ate the entree but the glasses were still missing. What a pity. We had to remind the waiter that very fastly brought as the wine together with the main. Overall, considering the hype, our experience didn't meet our expectations. There is still room for improvement.

What a fantastic evening. 8 of us we're exceptionally well looked after by the staff, the wine was lovely and every course without fail was delicious. Highly recommended. (Apologies if we were alittle loud!)

Wonderful restaurant that serves great food without "loud words". They have adapted their menu to meet our dietary requirement (vegetarians) without compromising the taste. Easy-going ambience, seasonal cooking and nice staff. The rhubarb dessert was outstanding.

Annecy is one of our favourite French towns and it was nice to find a small unassuming restaurant tucked in one of alleyways quite near the Main Street. We were there for lunch and there were some good selection of courses. Wine pairing was again superb and the restaurant sommelier spent a bit of time going through each wine and how it pairs with each respective course. I would love to come back again!

Had a wonderful lunch here. Delicious menu, creative and very tasty every course. Friendly staff. A place to come back to when visiting Annecy.
