Racines

"Leave the noisy Chaussée d'Ixelles and walk past the grocery counter into this delightfully vintage restaurant, which is awash in Mediterranean details and boasts an delightful terrace. Welcome to this authentic Italian establishment, where the chef will take you on a culinary journey from the north to the south of the Boot. Try the house-made tagliolini with parmesan and earthy cavolo nero, or the intensely flavoursome San Marzano tomato flan, drizzled with olive oil. The chef's creative and meticulous take on traditional recipes shines through. Featuring an impressive range of Italian labels, the wine list is well worth exploring." - Michelin Inspector

Used to be my favourite restaurant in Brussels. Wouldn't recommend it now. Agreed with the rest of the comments, price is up Vs last years, quality of food feels like it's somewhat down. For 350 euros for 2 people without wine pairing, we were just far far from the food quality and the service. We can get so much more for that money. Hope to see them back at more reasonable prices or to see them step up the quality to be worth that bill

A pleasant surprise. The service was impeccable and food mostly exceeded our expectations. The only complaint we had was with the arancini, that lacked flavour and wasn’t warm enough. Other than this everything else was incredibly tasty. The location is also great and the room feels very cozy and welcoming. The price to quality ratio is a bit hard to justify, but some of the starters we had made it worth it.

Next level Italian food, flavours that bring me back to Italy. Next level service. Next level wine. Italian fine dining at its best.

Always a treat eating at Racines! Great staff, great modern Italian food and great wine list.

Such a disappointment... We visited this restaurant couple of years ago, and it was outstanding. Everyone had "the spark". The sommelier, the chefs... This time everything seemed "downgraded". Different chefs, and indifferent sommelier that rushed his way through the service. But the worst part was the food: 1. TOO MUCH OIL. Everything was swimming in oil 2. A lot of fried components (fried zucchini with fishy taste, fried potato dough, fried eggplant with eggy taste) 3. The menu cost 80 euro (vegetarian) same as the non vegetarian one. Since when fried zucchini and eggplant can cost so much?????? The pasta was OK (eatable, but dry) and dessert was very good. We paid 230euro for a cholesterol attack and disappointment and regret for not double checking the recent reviews before going. Such a shame! It was a beautiful restaurant!

Ugo and Francesco are the perfect harmony of two friends united by a passion for culture of food and wine. Thanks to their experiences in both world, Ugo is more in the kitchen and Francesco is loving talking and taking care of clients. David the sommelier is also professional, he gave to me right wine combining with food, and is also friendly, so I haven’t fell boring at all in this place. The menu has not shared in the website, they want to give to the client a surprise and also, they are follow season in term of quality. For any request, for example: intolerance, allergies etc. you can write them, I did the same because there is some ingredients that I cannot eat. Menu has a different option where you can choose how many dishes you want to try, same as wine pairing. Atmosphere, passion and hight service level are the key of this restaurant. Ci vediamo presto! Extremely arrogant personal and very overpriced. Set menú super expensive for simple dishes and pasta was overcooked. They have a nice garden. Our off all the personal the only nice one is a young lady. The rest are arrogant and rude. Not what we expected for a +100€ dinner.

High quality Italian food. A bit pricey for my taste but the overall experience was very positive. Might not be the best choice for people who are not fans of seafood. However, the staff was eager to advise and accommodate the wishes. Good spot for a celebration or a corporate dinner. Peaceful interior garden available to the guests.
