Highlights

Radici means 'roots' in Italian. The name was chosen because it represents a connection to community and a commitment to offering natural, wholesome and nourishing products. We carry unique items created by local artisans and boutique Italian producers. Straight from the field to your table. Our prepared foods are made by chefs dedicated to quality and tradition. Our little market is a gathering place for folks to enjoy coffee and pastries on Sunday mornings, wind down with a glass of wine with neighbors on the patio on a Friday night, or an easy stop on their way home from work to pick up simple, delicious ingredients for their family's dinner. Stop by to try our sandwiches, salads, and sides, or pick up a pasta and sauce for a simple and elegant dinner you can prepare at home.

Google
Insta: dmv_reels great spot to check out at Eastern Market. I got their breakfast sandwich with ham and it was good. Latte was OK, and they actually forgot to make mine so I had to wait like 30 minutes. Other than that a great place to hang out with your friends. Their indoor is super cute with bunch of wines, jam, cheese, and other stuff.

Used to come to this café every weekend when I lived in D.C. During a recent visit, I came here for a pastry and beverage on a Saturday morning. I was surprised how much the service has dropped in quality drastically. I ordered a Nutella croissant and a glass of red wine, not realizing the menu item was marked “market price” (which I own as my mistake). When the cashier charged me $16 for the wine (see photo), I thought I misheard him. After he confirmed this price, I told him I would not like the drink and he very rudely told me “I already poured it.” I was very surprised by his demeanor, let alone by the ridiculous pricing. Pro-tips: make sure you ask for the price of wine before ordering (wine is noted as “market price” per the menu). Also, the bathroom opens by code and they do not give you a receipt, so make sure you ask for it while you are paying. All in all, while this used to be my go-to breakfast place in Eastern Market, I will not be returning due to the overpriced menu items and awful service.

Google
Somewhat pricey but great food and coffee with a really pleasant patio. Recommend going on weekends when the street is closed and the market is open. Best pastry is the strawberry yogurt, egg in a basket and prosciutto sandwich also very good

Google
Wonderful Cafe. We came here for Cappuccino but found much more. They have ready more sandwiches, teas, lemonade, pasta entrees and salads. Everything from coffee to pasta is sold here. The workers are extra friendly and everything we ordered was EXCELLENT!

Google
Italy in one place in DC. Radici brings you Italy in the café. First, let’s talk about the design and ambience. The design is basic and very clean as well as the restroom. The tables are very clean and have two designs. My favourite spots are, the big wooden table inside, where you can sit and enjoy your drinks or snacks and strike a good conversation with anyone, if possible. and any table in the outdoors area, where you can enjoy the garden and the different views since the café is on a corner. The light is mixed between daylight and warm romantic yellow candle-like light. During the sunset the sunrays get into the place and makes a beautiful romantic scene. Since it’s an Italian café, I should start by the coffee. One of the best espresso in DC. They use Illy Coffee from Italy. They know how to make genuine delicious Italian coffee, including Latte, Mocha, and many others. The pastry section has many options; my favourites are the orange cake, muffins, and ALL Italian pastries. The place has many sections, for instance, Italian wines (they bring them from Italy just for them), pasta (they make their own pasta from scratch), essentials for preparing Italian food, and Italian soft drinks like Sanpellegrino, which is my favourite, since hardly can you find it in D.C. The cafe is very close to Eastern Market Metro station and Eastern Market itself is on the opposite corner of the cafe. The owner of this place is an extremely nice gentleman from Italy and he works there himself, hence this place is always in an exquisite quality and well maintained. They need to put the place on Instagram and put more pictures on social media generally. Therefore, they can get even more customers. BTW, this place has hosted Michelle Obama once. Enjoy!

Google
Cheese cakes were so good! Not too sweet, but creamy and thick flavor. the shop is so cute. I also enjoyed a lot having conversation with store owner from Italy.

Google
Love that they have outdoor dining during Covid! This was a lifesaver bc I needed to get work done - solid wifi. Also, staff was super friendly and attentive. Great iced lattes and pastry selection - also, they have a variety of packaged, imported Italian sweets, treats, and savory snacks.

Google
Spent a Saturday at Eastern Market and was in search of a good cold brew. Came across Radici and looked like a good spot—the worst coffee I’ve ever had. One sip and tossed it out. Tasted like what I would think burnt Folgers would be. The staff wasn’t exactly very friendly either. Should have taken that as a sign to walk out the door. Maybe their other products are good but if you want an iced coffee, I HIGHLY recommend you go elsewhere.

Yelp
Grab yourself a mocha, a fun Italian sandwich and don't skip on the dessert when visiting Radici in Eastern Market! Just a warning, you will drop a good amount of money to eat here but hey, you're in DC! Also, you cannot bring any "outside" food here.

Nicole M.

Yelp
A total chill spot to enjoy excellent atmosphere to enjoy a Latte. A super bonus is the jazzman playing a variety of saxophones and a flute. The jazzman inspired me to have an outdoor seat at Radici while sipping my delicious latte and enjoying the smooth sound of jazz! The Customer Service is incredible and I will most likely be a frequent guest. Thank you Radici!

Aaron S.

Yelp
What a wonderful place, Radici puts on a masterclass of customer service. Since it was such a beautiful day out, we didnt want to go home and decided to get a glads of wine. We walked into Radici at 752 pm, and they close at 8. After telling the woman behind the counter that we just stopped to get a glass but would leave because they were closing, she invited us for a glass and were welcomed to enjoy it on the patio. Another gentleman came over to help with the wine. Not only was he super eager, I knew we were in the right place when he broke out a map to show us what regions the wine came from. We were treated to 5 samples (3 red, 2 white) before we made our selections. I was so impressed that I bought a bottle as well as a glass. We sat on the patio for about half an hour, enjoying the breeze and atmosphere. We were so enthralled with Radici that we decided to stop back in again the next morning. Union market, on weekends, transforms into an open air market full of trinket vendors and food to buy. Radici actually ended up being not just a wine bar, but a great breakfast place as well. So I ordered a coffee, she got a pressed juice, and here we sit, birds chirping, breeze blowing, listening to the street musicians play some damn good jazz/bossa. What a life.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop full of yummy things to eat and drink! Staff is so friendly and helpful! Nice quality baked goods. Coffee was delicious! Great outdoor seating too

Sarah B.

Yelp
Get Bella as your server. Must get the prosciutto/bresaola panino, lemon bar and coffee! Easy and quick snack and breakfast!

Linda O.

Yelp
It's clean, organized and service is prompt. The outdoor seating is nice; next to Eastern Market. The sammies that I've had over the years are decent. The savory leek turnover however lacks something. And the pignoli cookies are unlike any I've had; overly sweet, a bit mushy.

Jivak S.

Yelp
Went to Radici in the morning (Sunday, 06/27/2021, 8:15 am) and it was awesome! It's outside in Eastern Market, so you get a two for one...coffee and a waking market! Loved the place and the employees were super nice and their suggestions were great too. We chose to get an Oat Milk latte, Iced coffee, the cherry yogurt pastry, and orange olive oil cake. Both pastry's were something we've never tried but my fav was the orange olive oil cake, it had a nice citrusisy taste and was heavy but light at the same time! Highly recommend this place!!!

Jade J.

Yelp
I don't make it up to Capitol Hill much but when I do I make sure to stop at Radici. It's an adorable little coffee shop serving up the best coffee around. The service is super super fast and the pastries are to die for. They even have a lot of dairy free options and healthy pre packaged meals! Love this coffee shop :)

Irene K.

Yelp
Delicious bruscetta of various kinds. So nice to sit outside under the umbrellas and avoid the rain to listen to live jazz from the Eastern Market right out front. Service was great, too.

Evan M.

Yelp
Radici is super cool. The people who work there are so nice and inviting and helpful. They have really good espresso. I need to go back for pasta and wine.

Laney G.

Yelp
It was nice sitting outside having breakfast this morning. Ordered a slice of lemoncello cake. It was very good but not homemade. I'm not sure on the Nutella crossiant. I bit into the end and it was totally hollow inside except for a smear of Nutella. I don't think it's supposed to be that way? I would recommend the place except for the crossiant. If it's made hollow purposely inside, forget it!

Dona P.

Yelp
A beautiful Italian eastern market institution that's been a staple for a very long time ... authentic goodies brought from Italy with extra treats during holidays like Easter and Xmas !! It's a bit on the pricey side but my guess is it's because of how much they're spending on importing the goods as a tiny business themselves! Beautiful outdoor seating area as well !

William T.

Yelp
Fantastic Italian prepared sandwiches and plates. Excellent coffee and pastries and cakes Cozy atmosphere

Tom P.

Yelp
Love this place and the owner is so nice....they were very busy but he came over talked about wine - offered me a taste! We talked Italy - he really won me over! Might be my new favorite Italian Shop in Italy! And the meals are so good and the bread - yum!!

Liz S.

Yelp
Don't get the chai latte! I ordered one and it was 80% oat milk. I went back two times to get it to become stronger and it was the same problem. The staff added more chai from concentrate and it was so weak and watered down. Also, it wasn't cheap. Nice staff and place but not worth the wait or price

Malu L.

Yelp
I love this place, the coffee, pastries, the pasta, sandwiches, salads and all the drinks here are amazing. They also provide some groceries at the store such as pastas, tomate sauce, great selection of wine. Speaking of wine, you can buy a bottle of wine and drink at the location while eating a delicious pasta or a sandwich, they also have delicious cocktails after 5:00 pm. The costumer service here is also great.

Rashell M.

Yelp
I got a vanilla latte and it tasted only of milk. I asked for a refund or a different drink politely and was given attitude. The service was bad to begin with but I let it slide the first time as I get it is Sunday and busy. I was told how a latte was made but in a condescending way. I do not recommend, horrendous service and coffee.

Amanda M.

Yelp
Had this bookmarked for awhile and happened to be in the area so I was excited to stop by. There are pre-packaged sandwiches, salads, pastas, breads and desserts. Also noticed coffee, wine, dried pasta and both indoor and outdoor seating. CIABATTA BREAD - $4 *I don't think I got one that was baked today because it was pretty stale. I tried to salvage it in the oven and toaster trying it warm, slightly toasted, very toasted and as is. All were bad. Sigh. MEATBALLS - $16 *6 meatballs for $16 is a bit pricey considering how incredibly bland they were, I tried sprucing them up with fennel, ground pepper, salt, onion powder, fresh herbs...ending up eating half of them and threw out the rest. Also there was barely any sauce and it was very thin and watery. TIRAMISU - $9 *just spent 9 days in Italy and this was the weirdest Tiramisu I've ever had, there was this random thick custard at the very bottom and it was overly sweet - was this condensed milk? Non grazie! Ate half of the top layer only and also threw the rest out. In total my order was $31.50 for dinner just for me and I ended up disposing 75% of it. The food was edible but far from enjoyable so this place gets 2 stars.

GiGi J.

Yelp
Service was beyond rude and the coffee was mediocre at best. Barista (Tina I believe) has horrible attitude and completely rude. Absolutely unacceptable!!! Maybe train her how to interact with a customer and learn she's in the service industry!!!

Timo F.

Yelp
A little gem with nice outdoor seating. The Italian co-owner and his staff are very friendly, approachable, and he especially sincerely wants all his guests to have an enjoyable experience. The pesto lasagna was a rich, decadent treat... And the fact they have Schloss Eggenberg beer (my fav) shows their good taste shining in the details. There was a snafu with my bill through no fault of their own, yet they were so patient, approachable, and accommodating it endeared them to me all-the- more. Their genuine customer-friendliness warms my heart, esp in these touchy times.

Derek A.

Yelp
Stopped in here for a wine tasting and ended up grabbing some food. The vegan croissant was sweet and savory. I'll take their chai tea latte over Starbucks any day. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I'll be back and I recommend you stopping by. You can't go wrong trying anything they offer.

Alyssa N.

Yelp
As others have mentioned, the owner or manager is shockingly rude. I've been coming to Radici about 3x a week for years. Today, at 8am after purchasing two lattes, she made me and my 7 month old baby leave the outdoor seating because all of our food wasn't from Radici. I get that there's a strict policy but I've been a loyal customer for so long and there was no one else there at the hour - literally every other seat was available. Won't be back.

Michelle F.

Yelp
Giving 2 stars for service. We came here after we got a bagel next door at Bullfrog's and bought 2 specialty lattes which, we began enjoying at the outdoor seating area. I'll start by saying that their lattes aren't anything special - same quality as Starbucks but, we've come here a few times for the Capitol Hill scenery and to support small business. When we were 2 bites away from finishing our sandwich the owner or manager came over and told us that we aren't allowed to sit there because, ALL of our stuff isn't from her cafe. If that's your policy I'm happy to respect it but, this could have been approached in a much less aggressive and more professional manner. For example, instead of saying we can't sit here while drinking HER cafe's coffee with an "outside" bagel she could have just given an FYI for next time. So after this experience, we will definitely not be coming back again.

MaryJane O.

Yelp
I was here for an interview with an amazing boutique firm. This Italian cafe is nicely located near Eastern Market. The cafe itself is a lovely space and chock full of Italian inspired beverages and treats. Of course, after I left the cafe I told everyone I knew about it! Parking was a challenge--a nice nanny let me park in her boss's driveway after I explained I was trying to make my interview. After the interview, I walked over to Eastern Market and concluded a lovely experience. I tried to return another day but I don't think the cafe is open in the evening. I will try again during the day.

Greg S.

Yelp
Nice little Italian grocery and bistro. Great location. Love to stop here for a snack and for some people watching.

Cheryl L.

Yelp
We love Radici for the coffee, pastries, pasta, and wine. So it just made sense to contact them about catering an event for 50 people. Bridget was wonderful. She made great suggestions about what to serve and of course the food was delicious. It was a pleasure to work with her and I would definitely use Radici again for an event and recommend them without any reservations.

Yvette C.

Yelp
Great Italian market, great variety/selection of Italian goods and food. If you are looking for Italian ingredients for a nice upscale Italian recipe, this is your place. I am a big fan of Panetonne and Pandoro, they had a great selection. They also have a great variety of wine, pasta, sauces, spices, etc. We had coffee, it was very nice too. Its a very nice option around the Eastern Market area. Pastries and fresh bread looked very good, will try them next time. The decoration and ambiance is nice, like a typical "European bodegón". Lots of wood, very warm and cozy.

Sheara J.

Yelp
We stopped by radici to grab a quick lunch. The customer service was okay. We tried the Blueberry Lemonades, Salmon Cesar, and the Best-o-Pesto pasta. The lemonades we good, the salmon Cesar could have used more seasoning. The Best-o-Preston was delicious. They have quiet a few vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

Beth T.

Yelp
good food, a bit overpriced. you go in and select something from the fridges and can ask to have it heated to eat there or take it home. nice selection is pastas, italian snacks and wines, nice seating area

Mitchell S.

Yelp
Service was very rude and the coffee was horrible. Their pistachio pasta was decent. Very overpriced do not go.

Emily C.

Yelp
They took a LONG time to bring out two glasses of white wine, which turned out to be at room temp. I brought the wine back and politely explained that it was too warm to drink. The server said they just received a shipment and the wine was just unboxed which was why it was warm - and offered to give me ice (?!?). I said no thanks, ice would water down the wine. I asked for any other dry white wine that was chilled. It's white wine, I said, so it needs to be cold - only red wine should be served at room temp. Then there was a discussion with the manager who offered me another wine from the fridge which I accepted. Then the manager tried to charge me for the replacement wine. I said I'd already paid for the warm wine. She said "well I'll give it to you this once but normally it's not acceptable for you to have a replacement for an item just because you don't like it." I just said thank you and left. I could have done without the guilt trip. Who serves white wine at room temp?!? It seemed like they had no idea whatsoever about wine. It sort of ruined what had been a lovely afternoon because they made me feel like I was being difficult when I never send anything back or ask for something different-- the wine was just undrinkable. Really disappointing experience.

Ryna D.

Yelp
Cute, awesome fast casual place near Eastern Market. We came to the market a little too late so stepped in here for coffee and a quick bite. The food was good and it was nice that they have outdoor seating. I also liked that part of the shop sells Italian wine and other specialty products. I got to chat with the owner a bit after tasting a fantastic rosé spumante and he told me he is from Treviso. That sparked a conversation as I mentioned the only thing I know about Treviso is the famous radicchio. He told me how him and his wife came to open this business and it was a lovely conversation that made my visit memorable.

Anne B.

Yelp
Ugh, bad service & overall attitude. As others have noted coffee is good, pastries are excellent but service is lacking, especially from the manager. I've eaten & drank here more times than I can count but am always surprised at how rude the staff can be. Examples: refusing to make any substitutions to food, being yelled at because I was drinking a bottle water not sold at the store ( a WATER!, not food just a WATER) after I'd already bought coffee/food from them. Been told my stroller was in the way (my baby was screaming & I was trying to move yet they were aggressive and I was stunned at the rude interaction. I can literally keep going with examples but I'll leave this here. I wish this was my lovely corner coffee shop, but sadly it pains me how many bad interactions I've had here.

Katie B.

Yelp
Cute little counter service place right at the start of Eastern Market. They have a good coffee selection with a variety of flavors. Lots of grab and go selections for lunch or dinner, as well as a variety of fresh made pastries. There's a lot of packaged goods and wines imported from Italy. The lavender latte is to die for!

Elnaz W.

Yelp
quaint and cozy café at a cute corner! The owner is so friendly and made me one of the tastiest cappuccinos I'd ever had! Will definitely go back again! #authenticItalian

Jen M.

Yelp
Best authentic Italian restaurant in DC. "Authentic" referring to Italian owners who maintain a presence in the actual shop; the pasta is all in-house made; the owners import their wines from wineries they have a personal relationship with. Wine tastings everyday. Only unfortunate part is since they change their stock of wine regularly since the vineyards they work with are small, when you find a wine you really enjoy, it may be sold out by the time you return. But hey, that's just more reason to visit & have more wine tastings while buying your favorite wine =P I love that the owner's husband is so happy and thrilled to be able to support his wife in her dream of owning an Italian cafe. He seems like a humble and sweet man! The workers always seem pretty happy too! (See attached photo of the employee photobombing my pic of Radici's ridiculously good pastries!)

Carolina T.

Yelp
Excellent coffee place, fast and cordial service also great cannoli. Food can take a while but its definitely worth it.

Michael S.

Yelp
Errico is the ultimate host! Try the afogato, egg in the basket, cheesecake, and ice coffee. Try the chocolate croissant 6 stars!! Sit outside and mingle with the locals! Molto Bene!! Ciao!

Faith B.

Yelp
It was my first time here, I got the half turkey sandwich and a cucumber/garbanzo bean salad with lemon. I had them toast the sandwich for me-the bread was so good! I love the selection of dips, tried the basil dip and the truffle cannelloni. Wish they had pita bread or something to go with it instead of having to buy a huge thing of bread or thing of crackers. At least it would be more convenient. All and all, I love the outdoor seating and vibes. Will be back to try other sandwiches and salads

Jose M.

Yelp
This place didn't magically transport me to Italy, but it's better than most places out there. Good caffeinated drinks, including cappuccinos in a proper cup and saucer, soft drinks in glass bottles, and tasty pastries make this a neighborhood gem. I was at the doctor near Eastern Market and, on the way back ,decided to treat myself to a cappuccino and a pastry. I went in and saw the cannoli. The server warned me that they weren't very sweet, which confused me because cannoli aren't supposed to be, and it left me wondering how many people misconstrue the pastry as a sugar bomb. I got one and it was crunchy-but-not-too-crunchy on the outside and with the pleasant filling on the inside. The cappuccino wasn't mind-blowing but it was pretty solid. The lighting of the place is also soft and relaxing. They have tables outside, if that's your thing. Humidity makes me wither but I can't deny people love to sit outside in hot weather. My only recommendation is that the place could be a tad more inviting and comfortable inside for those that want to lounge a while. But that's a minor observation.

Shan L.

Yelp
Nice little Italian place, great wine tasting and cheese and cured meat selection. The owner can make a charcuterie board for you.

Kemah B.

Yelp
Great coffee and tea and friendly staff. Very Italian feel. Great place to people watch, work, or just chill. Definitely going to be a regular.

Deanna P.

Yelp
Visited Radici for the first time today and plan to be back again! After wandering around the flea market at Eastern Market (which, side note, is actually more of a farmers market/artisan craft fair) on a chilly/rainy morning, this was the perfect place to escape for an hour or so. The atmosphere was warm and cozy and the staff were all very welcoming and friendly. I had a cappuccino and a leek and parmesan pastry. The cappuccino was great- just like the ones I started my days with when I was traveling in Italy. The pastry was also delicious and unique, although I wish I had asked to have it heated- that would have taken it to the next level. There was also a decent amount of seating indoors, with additional bistro table seating outdoors. Overall, a great experience!

M B.

Yelp
Popped in to buy a soda because they have fun Italian drinks and the manager was yelling at her teenage employees and then tried to select the tip option for me because I didn't feel the need to tip on a $2 soda I picked up from the warm cooler. Bad vibes.

May P.

Yelp
I love this little nook! From beverages, classic glass bottles juices or soda, a litany of wine to select from, to sandwiches, little dishes, and sweets, it holds so much in a cozy environment. Entering this place teleports me for a quick trip to a cafe shop in Italy! I stop by frequently and love all that it has to offer, whether you need to catch up on some work, pop in a good read or two from a book, catch up with some friends, sneak in a quick bite - this place serves the purpose! I also adore how passionate the owner is about the wines, and brings you on a journey with him through the tastings, pointing to the enlarged map and all for a good reference point. The authenticity and service of this place is superior!

Angela T.

Yelp
Bought $11 worth of lattes. Sat down outside to have the lattes I bought there and food purchased elsewhere. Was told I could not eat food purchased elsewhere. Told them (showed the cup with cashier's writing) I bought $11 of lattes from them. Was told I could drink the lattes on-site but could not eat the food. Left in disgust. I understand that one cannot occupy a table without patronizing the business. But I patronized the business. I was not overstaying. We had been there 5 minutes at most. Would have bought their food but the last time I bought their breakfast sandwich, they gave me a piece of stale bread and the rest of the bread was over toasted. $11 is par for the course in DC. But with the rude service, I will never return.

Holly S.

Yelp
Super helpful staff offered me many suggestions for my mid-afternoon snack. Store is full or sandwiches, cheeses, pasta, and, oh did I mention, wine! Was given a taste of wine before confirming my purchase and ended up sitting street side, eating my Brie and baguette and enjoying a cool glass of vino. Lovely way to spend an hour.

Austin G.

Yelp
Literally, this place has changed it's name 5 times since I moved to DC in 2007 from Marvelous Market to Silver Spork to now Radici. Every time they change the lay out of the store and offer fancy cheeses, wines, and pickled goods. I order a latte and it was fine (small for the price) and a nutella cookie. I have a huge chocolate tooth and the nutella cookie was light on the nutella so I wouldn't order it again. The one thing they have going for them is seating. There's not tons of seating, but if nearby Peregrine is full, go here for open seating.

Michael B.

Yelp
Authentic Italian cafe (owned by Italians!) serving illy coffee in proper illy espesso/cappuccino cups w/ saucers. They also have a solid selection of Italian wines you can order by the bottle or glass. They're on the corner across from Eastern Market so great people watching from their window seating or shaded patio. Their food is all made on site in their own kitchen downstairs, leaving room upstairs to enjoy food & drink! Menu includes: appetizers like bruschetta, meatballs and cheese plates; assorted pastas; panninis sandwiches; salads; boxed lunches and desserts, including cannoli and tiramisu! They deliver and cater so options abound for you to try out their authentic eats.

Sam R.

Yelp
In a word - lovely. This is the perfect spot to take a moment from the (wonderful) bustle of Eastern Market to enjoy a European / Italian lunch, coffee + treat, and/or glass of wine. The staff is engaging. There is a joyful feel to the place. There is pride and care in details. It's the type of place where the owner will offer you a wine tasting. The coffee is fantastic.
