"Seafood lovers will feel right at home at this celebration of wonderful fish and shellfish. The likes of marinated scallops and Icelandic whelks join a roll call of prime quality fish, cooked well by an able kitchen in pleasingly uncomplicated dishes that let the central ingredient shine. Stone floors, upholstered benches and open pipework give the dining room a simple, casual feel – and this is accompanied by a lively atmosphere." - Michelin Inspector

Nice clean hotel located in center of town. Front desk personnel were very nice and helpful. Since this was my first time staying in a European hotel I was surprised there was no air conditioning. The hotel did provide a fan and it was sufficient enough to cool the room. Also there is a very nice deep soaking bathtub however since I am older it was very difficult for me to climb out without falling. Now that I’ve stayed there and no what to expect I would stay there again.

We are very pleased with our stay. We are very surprised that all employees were always helpful and smiling despite a lot of traffic and many questions. The location in the city centre was very good for exploring the city. Quite an expensive hotel, but there are no cheap places in Iceland, so we counted on the expense, but it was money well spent.

An excellent hotel with a great location within walking distance of all Reykjavik's main sights. Our room -– a Junior Suite – was stunning: spacious, beautiful design, a lovely preserved stucco ceiling. The front of house staff were incredibly welcoming and super helpful – there were a number of practical things I needed help with. It was my birthday and wedding anniversary – bubbly and chocolates and a hand-written greeting appeared. Thank you! And thanks to the GM for intervening so assertively when I was assailed by an aggressive guest – she was as shocked as I was and made it clear to him that she wouldn't tolerate that kind of behaviour and language (!) in her hotel. So impressively professional. Something else my partner and I – as a gay couple – were impressed by were the little Progressive Pride flags dotted around the breakfast restaurant – particularly when there were so many US guests present! LOL. We really liked this hotel!

Lovely hotel in an area with lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. The breakfast buffet is outstanding. We spent 2 days prior to our cruise and enjoyed it

The worst hotel room ever. It was a garret complete with slanted ceiling and no air circulation on the top floor, like being in the attic in the summer. The bathroom was an afterthought and the slant ceiling extended into the shower so you could not stand up. No options to sit in the room other than the bed. When I asked the manager to come and see how hot the room was, he first went to the radiator to see if the heat was on. It was not. He then commented that they don't like to use this room, but they were fully booked. Hotel location smack in the heart of a tourist shopping/dining area. If you like loud noise into the wee hours, you'd love this location. If we go again we will choose a different hotel.

I read other reviews which indicated that street noise might be a problem at this hotel but that wasn't the case during our stay. What was a problem was the bathroom, more specifically the bathtub which, because of its incredibly high sill, was virtually impossible to use. As if that weren't bad enough, there was no grab bar and a very slippery floor. Very dangerous. The room was none too clean, either. The bed was ok. The buffet was adequate.

I was told I could check in early because of my membership as VIP, but ended up waiting 45 minutes with no updates from staff. I had to follow up myself. Service overall was poor. A hairdryer was left on the floor in my room and wasn’t cleaned up. I also didn’t receive a large towel. After asking at reception, I waited a long time, only to find out the receptionist had forgotten. He didn’t even apologize. Honestly, the staff didn’t seem service-minded at all. A much worse experience than any Radisson I’ve stayed at. The location is central, but the hotel is not well insulated. There was a lot of noise from outside. On top of that, they were renovating the room right next to us. Why put guests there in the first place? Breakfast was average, nothing special. Even the Park Inn by Radisson near Keflavík Airport offered a better and wider selection.

Excellent hotel with comfortable bedrooms and good breakfast selection in centre of Reykjavik. Ideally situated to explore major historical attractions around the town and sample good seafood restaurants nearby. Also minutes from Bus Sop 3 where you can join small bus tour day trips to different parts of the island.
