It was a great experience. When we walked into the building, we were immediately greeted and checked in. The room was clean and air conditioned. They had a small fridge stocked with some drinks and a small mini bar with a few select bottles. We want to come back and check out their outdoor lounge on the roof. It looks amazing.

We loved our stay in this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were big, we used the kitchenette every day and every day after coming back everything was perfectly clean again. I would give five stars if the furniture was a bit better quality. My brother slept on the sofa bed and I think he wasn't too pleased.

The room was huge and the amenities excellent for the price. You cannot beat this location and the doughnut shop in the lobby is so kitsch. Loved having breakfast there. Reviews about the elevators are accurate - be ready to wait a few minutes, especially in the evenings. Staff was friendly and helpful and parking mostly convenient and reasonable for the city. We had a great 2 day stay and will be back.

First of all it was cold outside. Oh by the way it was cold in my room too! Maintenance came promptly but unfortunately the issue didn't change much. The elevator is so small that it really is only room for two people if you have luggage. I do understand that it is an older building and remodeled so that could possibly explain why the windows are drafty and the elevator is small. The coffee shop that is in the lobby the gentleman working there was extraordinary. As far as ambience you would expect more for the location. There were a lot of small things that needed basic attention such as the toilet paper holder was not fully mounted into the wall or the fact that the cocktail table in the room had chipped glass. Small details are important I think to a lot of people and yes I could have mentioned it to the staff but I was there for one night and putting forth the extra effort wasn't worth it at the time. So to summarize if you want to stay downtown on a Groupon or a find a discount rate - just to say that you were downtown go for it. If you want to be impressed don't expect much.

Not impressed at all. Rooms were large but not very clean. Old, dirty carpet with stains all over. The view was blocked by all the furniture as well. There are no coffee makers in the rooms. The beds are tiny as well. We got a double room and the beds were smaller than full sized. I would say like a twin XL maybe. In addition, the beds were not comfortable. Woke up each morning with an aching back. Pillows were tiny too. Also, their website says they provide robes for each guest. Not true. No robes at all. The elevators are TINY and during peak times you may have to wait for several elevators because only 3-6 people, depending on the luggage, can fit in the elevator at once. Parking is ridiculously expensive. $70/night for Valet. The hotel lobby is small so people checking in run in to the people waiting for the elevators. It was a cluster when we arrived. The website also mentions a rooftop terrace which was not accessible unless you go through the bar. Our 15 yr old daughter was disappointed because she couldn’t go through the bar to visit the rooftop terrace. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. I would recommend the Westin or Hilton.

I thought the hotel was great. People were friendly. Comfy beds. The issue I have is.. they took a $100 deposit that they said they would refund after the stay. I completely understand that. But I never received my refund. First call i made, they apologized and they said it would take 10 business days to be refunded. 2 months later and 6 calls, no one wants to call me back. I hope this doesn’t happen to other customers. $100 may not be a lot to you, but it is to me. Horrible customer service in that aspect. Will never stay here again.

Love this hotel. Pretty Christmas decor with lovely evergreen smell. Great architectural character. Fun suites with comfortable living rooms. Well worth the $$. Perfect spot to spend time with family. Close to everything on Michigan Ave.

The hotel is beautiful and in a nice location, but there are things to note, in my opinion. The staff is exceptional. Extra security by requiring a card for elevator use. Cleanliness is good. Drawbacks were: we arrived around 11pm, with carry out food, no drinks. There are no non-alcoholic drinks to be found. The store across the street was closed. My kids drank water from the bathroom sink:( Our room was oddly arranged where it was difficult to see the TV from one bed. The heat and air cannot be controlled entirely by your room. We spent the first night miserable from being hot and the room stuffy. I called the desk in the morning to request a room change, but found out the building heat was on therefore we couldn't cool our room, but we could open a window. This helped, until the rain started. The double beds are very small. I'm average and my daughter is a small teen, and we were cramped. The shower is decent, but not much pressure, more of a rainfall head. The parking is a costly nightmare! Valet with them is $68/night, or you can walk a couple of blocks and use a valet garage for $38/night. I did this the first night. We waited for our car for over 45 minutes the next morning. Chose the more expensive option the second night. It was nice, just expensive in my opinion. Please just be aware of all parking in Chicago. I spent about $450 in 3 days between the rental and parking fees. I definitely recommend buses, taxis or ubers. Most disappointing was the rooftop...one of the main reasons I booked here...I never saw it. Having kids I didn't want to go up late during "bar hours" and it was locked in the mornings when we'd imagined going up for breakfast. I never saw posted hours either. We gave up after several attempts.
