"Opened in 1932 in the historic Royal Khmer compound, this landmark hotel was the first luxury lodging in the area, catering to well-heeled adventurers intent on visiting the storied ruins of the temples at Angkor. Everyone from Charlie Chaplin and Charles de Gaulle to Jackie O and, more recently, Angelina Jolie have slept within its dramatic, art deco walls. Just a short walk or tuk-tuk ride to central Siem Reap , the hotel, now part of the Raffles collection, features 15 acres of manicured gardens with more than 20,540 species of tropical plants, making it a relaxing oasis after a day spent exploring the temples. Following a major restoration by David Grace Designs in 2019, the 119 rooms, suites, and villas—some set in the original main building, others overlooking the garden or pool—are now a vision of French windows, hardwood floors, and marble bathrooms with Italian tiling and oversized rain showers. Some have added perks like furnished terraces, high ceilings, or four-poster beds. Elsewhere in the hotel, features like the 1929 metal-and-timber elevator, art deco black-and-white tiles, and classic conservatory have been refurbished but maintained. The large central swimming pool is ringed by loungers, while the tucked-away spa has a sauna, Jacuzzi, and six treatment rooms for excellent, regionally inspired therapies. Both in-house and outside guests frequent the six drinking and dining options, which include the legendary Elephant Bar, the elegant Restaurant Le Grand (serving both Western and Royal Khmer cuisine), and the completely renovated Apsara Terrace, which offers a dinner-cum-cultural dance show three or five nights a week, depending on the season. The on-site gallery and boutique showcase high-quality local goods."

We stayed for our honeymoon and to experience the temples and found our stay at Raffles to be comfortable and welcoming. From the pool to our quiet garden view it was a restful stay amid all the hustle and bustle of Siem Reap. Phea at the concierge desk was friendly and took the time to meet us after we arrived to introduce himself after all of our emails back and forth and to discuss the tour we had arranged for the next morning and assist with a wonderful recommendation for dinner. We took the private vespa tour and our tour guide was absolutely fantastic! Extremely knowledgeable and helped to guide us to less busy areas of the temples. We were, however, disappointed with the breakfast provided on the tour. We went to see the sunrise so we had to leave the hotel around 4:30AM and they did not have any coffee or small pastries available in the lobby and the breakfast room was not open so by the time we got to breakfast on the tour around 9AM we were starving and were disappointed to find that it was a few pieces of whole fruit, a few pastries (we later found the same assortment of pastries on the breakfast buffet the next day so I wonder if ours were left over from the previous morning's), and a thermos of tea which unfortunately tasted of coffee as the container had been previously used and the taste was not washed out. We then had 3 and a half more hours of touring, so we were very hungry by the time we got back to the hotel for lunch. For almost double the price of comparable tours we were left wanting more, even a container of something simple like congee would have gone a little further to satisfy. Overall, we had a lovely experience at the hotel. The rooms were very clean, service attentive at every turn, and for our honeymoon they sent us a nice bottle of champagne and flowers, which was a lovely gesture.

We’ve really enjoyed our stay. The staff have been amazing, attentive and truly go out of their way to help and take care of you. The resort itself was really nice, can’t fault it. Lots of elderly people and very quite relaxing vibes. I would recommend the dancing show and dinner, we found this to be a highlight. We felt really well looked after by Enyeng at breakfast each morning and he is such a nice man, special thanks to him he is excellent at his job!

My husband and I had a wonderful experience staying at Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor in Cambodia. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, who greeted us with a refreshing drink and a beautiful scarf as a thoughtful keepsake of our stay. The staff's friendliness was exceptional, as they greeted us warmly every time we crossed paths. The location was ideal, situated less than five miles from the iconic temples of Angkor. Our room offered a serene view of the gardens, adding to the tranquil ambiance. The breakfast, served buffet-style, was delightful and offered a wide variety of options to start our day. Unfortunately, our busy touring schedule left us with no time to enjoy the hotel’s incredible pool, which we deeply regret. If you plan a visit, I highly recommend setting aside time to indulge in the hotel’s amenities—they are truly worth experiencing. We wholeheartedly recommend Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor to anyone seeking an exceptional stay in Siem Reap, Cambodia. From the attentive staff to the outstanding amenities and accommodations, this hotel delivers excellence on every level.

I had an absolutely unforgettable stay at Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor! We stayed in a Landmark Room with a Pool View King, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The room was incredibly spacious and beautifully decorated, with charming antique furnishings and a lovely view of the pool from the fourth floor. The king-size bed was, without a doubt, the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel truly special. Every member of the team was warm, welcoming, and attentive, ensuring that all our needs were met—no request was too big or small. The service was simply outstanding. One of the highlights was the pool—it was the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring Siem Reap and the temples, especially in the heat. I could have easily spent the entire day there! I highly recommend Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor for anyone visiting the area. It’s a luxurious and memorable experience from start to finish!

This is a hotel of beautiful, classic elegance. Our room was comfortable, traditional, but with the latest amenities, The restaurants serve carefully prepared food, both traditional Khmer and Western. What else can you ask for? Ah yes: personal, dedicated service. Each contact with a member of the staff was a delight. We will definitely be back.

This is place is one of a kind! Do yourself a favor and stay here while you are in Siem Reap. The staff here are the best - I stayed over New Years and was probably the only American in town who wanted to go to bed before midnight. There was a big party with a full band (with a very good drummer) in the pool courtyard outside my suite however, but less than half an hour after I somewhat passive aggressively complained, they had moved me to a new room where I promptly passed out. I think I might have actually grown a little bit emotionally as a result of their fantastic handling of the situation. Worth a visit for the pool alone, but if you take a closer look all the details are really beautiful, from the vintage wooden elevators to the marble flooring. It's the sort of thing a more recently built hotel would try to imitate, but here it's the real deal. Walkable to most of the things you would want to walk to, and just a short drive of course from Angkor Wat. The restaurants are also very good. This is the only place I can stay now in town, nowhere else compares.

We spent a wonderful 4 days at GHdA, making it our base for explorations in the area, and the wonderful staff and beautiful hotel accommodation endeared to us a great feeling of belonging. Each days departure and return was like being with family, and the ability to rest after a busy day with a cocktail, and a good meal in comfortable surroundings is memorable.

It was the best community event in Siem Reap where everyone is invited to witness a festive tree lighting ceremony. The event just keeps getting better every single year! We didn’t expect it to be so majestic, entertaining and grand and I really felt the Christmas spirit within the hotel. We can’t wait to see what they will have next year. Thank you Raffles and we will definitely be back!
