The Best Cajun and Creole Restaurants in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"Try a fusion of Cajun and Asian food here. Think boudin egg rolls, spicy noodle gumbo (served pho-style), and Cajun fried rice. For an extra touch of New Orleans authenticity, this place orders several products directly from Louisiana, including Patton’s hot sausage, Cafe du Monde coffee, and seafood from the Gulf." - Courtney E. As a New Orleans native, I can confidently say that this restaurant has received the NOLA stamp of approval. Having tried numerous establishments in Dallas that claim to offer "Cajun" or "NOLA" cuisine, this is the only one that truly captures the essence of home. From the French bread to the presence of the traditional Blue Plate on their PoBoys, the authenticity of their food is undeniable. I am extremely grateful for this taste of home, as it has helped alleviate my homesickness. Thank you.

I cannot tell y’all how much I love everything about this place! Love it! I stopped by and there weren’t a ton of people in there which surprised me! The owners told me they had just opened their brick and mortar a month prior which is awesome! I tried a Shrimp Poboy with Cajun Corn and some Apple Pie Egg Rolls! Everything had so much flavor and was absolutely incredible! They have so many Cajun-Viet fusion options that I wanna try! Those Apple Pie Egg Rolls really finished off a perfect meal! They were so sweet and delicious. The Shrimp Poboy was fire and they STACKED it with shrimp! I want to come back. Supporting small business is more important than ever now and this is definitely a small business worth supporting! I wanna try everything they have to offer!

Right next door to the FedEx Office, this restaurant has a nice a pretty nice and clean interior--which makes sense since it's brand new. I went there for lunch last Monday, and the experience was pretty average. Some work could certainly be done in the service there. I ordered some food online for lunch pickup--the online ordering was up and running at least--set at 12:35pm. But for some reason, their online clock had my lunch set at 1:35pm for some reason. My food ended up not being ready at 12:35, and since my lunch breaks are only 30 minutes, waiting for the food cut into that already short time. No big deal though; they made my food fresh and got it out fairly fast for a fresh order (20 mins). In the meanwhile, everyone working there was really friendly when I went to pick the food up. They acknowledged the issue up front, and tried their best given the situation. When I finally got my food, they forgot the bread for my shrimp po boy. However, the shrimp itself was excellent; it was freshly fried, hot, and breaded nicely (with a cornmeal type batter). Everything else I ordered was tasty as well--although the large gumbo was missing chicken that was supposed to be part of the dish. Furthermore, the portions are well-sized and not skimpy. Their big*ss fried chicken sandwich lived up to its name; it's a really big chicken sandwich that's similar to the Popeye's fried chicken sandwich in all the right ways. The chicken has a defined crust around it, yet, the crust is supple, and has a soft crunch to it. The tomato and pickles are nice fresh touches to the sandwich, and it's seasoned fairly well. The bread, however, was a bit tough--almost stale. It's a bit hard and crusty on the outside, and not perfectly pillowy. Still though, the sandwich was excellent overall. All in all, the food is on the pricier side, and I got a meal that took longer than expected and was missing a few ingredients. Ragin Casian, as it stands currently, is a bit rough around the edges. Understandably, they're brand brand new, and they'll hopefully have some of the kinks ironed out in the way of service soon. I will probably be back again at some later time when they've found a better rhythm. Unfortunately, the overall experience I had this time didn't really justify what I paid. I hate to leave a disappointing review for such a new restaurant, but I'll certainly be changing this review if it's better the next time. Cajun food is incredibly flavorful and tasty, so it's nice to have a restaurant that makes the cuisine authentically.

Very friendly staff and great food. I saw this place opened up and was recommended by a friend. It definitely was worth my time to get some great food here. Good variety on the menu and met some pretty awesome New Orleans locals here. I look forward to trying several options on this menu.

Soooo delicious! I am from New Orleans and have been searching for poboys for quite some time with no luck and this is super good! I have tried shrimp poboy and catfish poboy, and gumbo and jambalaya and all is top notch!! If I had to pick one first thing to recommend definitely shrimp poboy is overstuffed and perfectly delicious. I love to support this local owned business and the family is from New Orleans using Gambinos Bakery bread. Very legit and best of all really tasty!

Went there on Sunday evening after my visit to the vet with my pup. I was told about the catfish there and thought I would check it out. The Atmosphere is awesome, and the owners were great. They informed me that they opened in the middle of the pandemic to build on their catering truck business. It was dead when I went in, but I'm hoping they get more known as a top local eatery. They have big plans for the near future. Give them a shot!! 🙂 I'll be back to try more of their menu.

I got the Jambalaya Quesadilla. Whew it was delicious! Well seasoned and put together with the perfect amount of cheese. I received my order through a deliver service, and it was packed well and fresh. Thank you for being a good place to eat!
