We've been meaning to try Raices since it opened, so this was the week. They've changed quite a few things from the days it was Uno, but some of the decor remains. It's very nice inside. They have a tight menu, but there should be enough choices for most. It was pretty busy during our visit, and although service was friendly, it seemed like our server was covering a lot of the floor, so there were some gaps where drinks were unfilled or we had to ask again for something, but she was doing her best.
The prices are a bit high, in my opinion, for most of the dishes. I understand that everything is more expensive now, but the final tab with no alcohol or apps (but with dessert), seemed like a lot for 2 adults and a kid. The food was decent, but two of my tacos were pretty bland, only the al pastor had a lot of flavor. The same for the dishes of others in my party, although the ground beef was very good and saucy. The tres leches dessert was really big, enough for 2-3 to share, and pretty tasty. The "hot" salsas are fairly tame compared to other places, and they give them to you in these cute little pots with tiny spoons. You'll probably need to ask for more, we certainly did. All in all, it was a fine experience, but with so many other similar places in town (even close by), I'm not sure if we'll be back.
