Racienes is a beautifully decorated spot—the attention to detail is truly impressive! The place looks amazing, which is why I'd love to see them dial down the lighting. I get that you don't want a dimly lit bar vibe, but the intense, daylight-white LED spectrum is a little overwhelming and actually detracts from the experience. I felt like I needed sunglasses (can't wait to go back and try the sizzling steak fajitas with them on, LOL!). A softer, warmer light would really elevate the already fantastic ambiance. Now for the food and drinks: The coconut shrimp appetizer was a winner! The sauce, however, was immediately noticeable—the smokiness of the BBQ sauce slightly detracted from the dish because that was the very first scent you got. Still, the overall flavor was nice. The rice was amazing, though the beans were just so-so. The Margaritas (both the house and the Racienes) were great—nicely done! The only real letdown was the pork carnitas. They were sad, reheated slices of pork that lacked the typical crisp, caramelized crust. They tasted lifeless, missing the expected citrus character and classic carnitas spicing. They really needed a rich consommé to enhance them, as they felt truly incomplete. Overall, I had a good time and will definitely be back (with better eye protection!) to try those fajitas! Soften the lights, and you've got a five-star place!

This place is awesome. Newly built I believe this year and it’s done so well, it’s become a staple for me and my fiance on the way home from work! The quesadilla and tortas are perfection.

Very clean and excellent food. I had the lunch special with chicken tortilla soup, Flautas, and a Horchata. Excellent the corn tortillas are made in house (and you can tell😋).

Visited here for the first time on Thursday with my significant other. We arrived at noon, an hour after opening and we had a great time! Drove 30+ minutes and would gladly do it again for this experience. The inside is very welcoming & has tons of great seating options, everywhere has a beautiful view. The food was beyond words & the salsa/chips were so fresh. We ordered a Paloma and a Mojito, both very good! To top it off, Alma made sure to stop by multiple times and make sure everything was okay and offer a variety of salsas. We will be back for sure!

Came in for the first time with my roommate for lunch! Very large and clean - a beautiful restaurant rich in cultural decor. The portions are very generous, home cooked, and traditional - you will not be disappointed! The chicken tortilla soup was perfect and therapeutic on a cold winters day! All the salsas we tried were amazing - especially the hot salsa & the pineapple salsa! The rice and pinto beans were fresh and flavorful. The chicken enchiladas I had were top knotch with tender chicken. The roommate had the chicken quesadilla lunch and loved it as well. My strawberry margarita was handcrafted with love and just the right amount of smooth tequila! I highly recommend coming here with friends, family, or a date! Best home cooked fresh Mexican meals in town! Muy bueno! 💖

Food was delicious and atmosphere was great! They has a mariachi band on a Friday evening which was very enjoyable. The only complaint I have is that our server was not very friendly and seemed to rush us. But overall it was a great experience.

Everything was incredible, food was amazing, service was great. I will say this, please turn the news off on the bar TV's. Anything is better than the news while I am out enjoying a great meal in an awesome restaurant.

Raices is a really beautiful restaurant. The colors inside are rich and warm, everything looks thoughtfully designed, and even the bathrooms were spotless. It feels lively and welcoming without being overwhelming. You can tell they put care into how the place looks. The food was amazing. Super fresh, full of flavor, and not greasy at all. The fajitas came out sizzling and were so good. Everything tasted bright and well-seasoned. The margaritas were really good too... except the jalapeño margarita. I'm not even kidding, it looked like a literal salad in a glass. It was absolutely disgusting and basically undrinkable. Unless you truly love chunks of jalapeño floating around, stay clear. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is the service. Everyone was nice and friendly, but omg it was SO slow. We waited a long time between check-ins and had to remind them about a couple things. Nothing rude, just very forgetful and drawn out. I would definitely come back because the food and the space are worth it. I'd just go in knowing it's going to take a while.

Amazing chips and salsa--and that's always the first sign of a great Mexican restaurant! We've been trying out new Mexican spots lately, and I've noticed if the chips and salsa are on point, the rest of the food usually follows... and this place did not disappoint. The cheese enchiladas and fajitas were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Everything came out hot and well-seasoned. Our server was just as amazing as the food--knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely great, which made the experience even better. We'll definitely be back (honestly, probably again this weekend!). Highly recommend if you're looking for excellent Mexican food and great service.

I have come here 2 times so far and I will definitely be going more often. I have been once for dinner and once for lunch. The standard chips and salsa come out for both meals. They typically bring mild salsa with the chips but will bring hot if you ask for it. The hot salsa is awesome. On my most recent visit, I went for lunch. My server made sure that my coffee never ended up empty which was awesome given that it was around the holidays and there were some big parties also eating. You can not tell that Raices used to be an Uno's as they really redecorated and changed a ton. The food is all really good. There are lunch options that are served until 3pm (I believe). You will not walk out of there hungry. There is an awesome dessert of chocolate stuff churos that I will definitely have over and over again. Their enchiladas are very flavorful. Everything was outstanding both times I went. Overall, everything was awesome. The atmosphere was excellent both at dinner and at lunch. I recommend the dessert I had for lunch. I will be back

Used to be an Uno's pizza. Roots is a good name for this place, not a typical Mexican name. Our waitress seems nice Ordered hot habanero pineapple salsa, guacamole, chicken flautas on flour, toppings on the side, 3 chicken tacos, chicken mole with corn tortillas and beans with no cheese, no rice. $71.80 with $3 discount for happy hour. The food was out in about 5 minutes or so. The three tacos was so-so, grilled chicken is dry and overcooked. A bit salty, the chicken. The guacamole is good for being premade, not spicy though, good flavor nonetheless. The chicken flautas came out with rice and cheese on the beans. A new one was out in minutes. The flauta chicken tinga is fried with cheese. It's ok, a bit overcooked, some brown chicken shreds after the first bite of the end. The chicken mole sauce is quite good. Sauce has a bit of heat to it. The chicken is once again dry and overcooked. The chicken breast is fatty and sinewy, needs a bit of a trim. The rice is rather salty. The refried beans had some flavor, it's not too bad. The green habanero pineapple salsa isn't bad, no hint of sweetness from the pineapple at all, but it's good kick to it. The smoked salsa is good, not super spicy. The mild salsa isn't too bad. Our service was good, until having to wait a whole to get our bill. The staff rounded up and were all busy with a birthday singing wish with sombreros for another group.

We've been meaning to try Raices since it opened, so this was the week. They've changed quite a few things from the days it was Uno, but some of the decor remains. It's very nice inside. They have a tight menu, but there should be enough choices for most. It was pretty busy during our visit, and although service was friendly, it seemed like our server was covering a lot of the floor, so there were some gaps where drinks were unfilled or we had to ask again for something, but she was doing her best. The prices are a bit high, in my opinion, for most of the dishes. I understand that everything is more expensive now, but the final tab with no alcohol or apps (but with dessert), seemed like a lot for 2 adults and a kid. The food was decent, but two of my tacos were pretty bland, only the al pastor had a lot of flavor. The same for the dishes of others in my party, although the ground beef was very good and saucy. The tres leches dessert was really big, enough for 2-3 to share, and pretty tasty. The "hot" salsas are fairly tame compared to other places, and they give them to you in these cute little pots with tiny spoons. You'll probably need to ask for more, we certainly did. All in all, it was a fine experience, but with so many other similar places in town (even close by), I'm not sure if we'll be back.

We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday on a Saturday at 5:00. It was not crowded but we did have a reservation since there were 8 of us. The server was very kind. We ordered the trio of dips and we got salsa, queso and a pico. They were all very good! I ordered veggie fajitas for dinner and they were too spicy for me. The rice and beans were different than what everyone else got so I am assuming they were a vegan option that came with the veggie fajitas. They were not great and I wasn't going to eat them. The server was very kind and brought me enchiladas instead. Those were much better including the regular rice and beans. The service was a bit slow, we were there for two hours. Overall we enjoyed our experience.

We just came back and at 645 on a Friday the restaurant was maybe half full. One of the major issues is the cost of the dinner compared to other local Mexican restaurants. They give small portions of salsa with the chips and salsa. I asked for one more for my fajita dinner and he said he needed to charge me for the salsa. It was a dollar fifty for a small portion. The chicken fajitas were ok. The chicken was actual strips and had a decent taste. The rice was bland and the extra cheese I asked for was 2 ounces in a small plastic container and cost 2 dollars. 25.50 for something I could get for 16 down the street that would be better. My wife got two tacos. The salmon taco had no taste and was dry. Bartender was nice and it wasnt his fault that he had to charge us extras for an already expensive meal. We tried it and will not be back.

OMG BECKY, I really wanted to love this place. The food was ok. The salsa was fabulous. I did not care for my enchiladas. We went at lunch time. It might be better on the dinner menu. I know good mexican food when I taste it. I don't think I will return.

They did a great job fixing up the old Pizzeria Uno and my party was surprised to see live Mariachi on a Friday night! Excellent service and everything was delicious, especially the guacamole. They also offer those huge margarita goblets to liven up your dining experience

Well, surprise! We have another Mexican restaurant in town. If you open yet another Mexican place in an area with so many alreay, I kind of expect the food to either be amazing or have unique menu items. Sadly that isnt the case. We did carryout from here twice and the food was just ok. Corn taco shells did not hold up and we're totally soggy. Rice was dry and beans were bland. The taco meat was well seasoned and portions are generous. The queso was the only thing we thought was really good, very creamy and flavorful. With the hundred other Mexican places within a 5 mile radius this will likely not be a place we go to often.

My friend and I were in the area for the vintage market so we decided to try Raices. We got there about 8:30 pm and we were immediately seated and waited on with chips and three types of salsa. I really enjoyed the spices on the chips - nice touch. The salsas were good too. We enjoyed the medium spice one the most. I ordered chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. The presentation of my plate was worth the photo. I liked that guacamole and sour cream came with the meal. The rice was some of the best I've had but beans were just alright. They were really runny. My friend ordered veggie fajitas which she really enjoyed. She ordered the chicken tortilla soup and didn't realize until eating most her meal that they didn't serve it to her. It was on her bill so she pointed it out and they removed it. They also didn't give her double beans instead of rice like she requested. For that reason, I'd give the service four stars. The restaurant is fairly large and the ambiance was casual. I'd eat here again if it was closer.

Where to start- important to me is that it's very clean. The service is ALWAYS fantastic and friendly. THE FOOD is top notch. We've not had one meal that we felt was not worth ordering, again. Service is also very quick. Love this place.

I got the cheese enchiladas. The food was delicious, our waitress was lovely, and the decor was very well thought out. Prices were comparable to the area. We will be back!

Finally a great Mexican restaurant in the Troy area! This place was excellent. The fajitas and enchiladas were on point. The Margaritas were tasty and strong. The different salsas were solid. The service was awesome. Edgar was informative, attentive and engaging. The restaurant was large, clean and new. Very impressed.

I stopped here for a quick bite before a movie. It was an odd time of day (3 pm) so the place was empty. It was clean and well staffed, though the staff was not super attentive for it being empty. The food was good, my only complaint is that the hot salsa and chorizo were a bit too vinegary for my taste but I am super sensitive to vinegar. The street tacos were good, al pastor was my favorite. The restaurant is very large, and I'm sure real estate is expensive in that area, so I hope it does well!

This place used to be an Uno's Pizzeria for years and then I guess it closed at some point a while back. Now it's a Mexican Cantina and I finally got a chance to eat here yesterday and it did not disappoint. There's still some relics left over from the Pizzeria days, but overall it's pretty well decorated with lots of seating. We got there at noon on a Saturday and it wasn't busy so we were able to get seated right away. Our server was wonderful and took care of us throughout our meal. They have lunch and dinner style meals, and even on the weekends between 11-3 you can get their lunch plates which are literally half the price. They also have birria tacos! We both ordered them but no consume sauce was with the meal. Plus, it was the perfect portion size of two tacos with ample rice and beans. The tacos were fantastic along with the rice and the refried beans were served a cute edible taco bowl. My only complaint is that the beans were rather watery and didn't have much taste to them. I couldn't use a fork to eat the beans due to this, and had to resort to the chips instead. My lunch was $15 along with my friends since we both got the same dish. The dinner menus about double that but I assume you get twice the portion size. Overall a fantastic meal and would gladly return for a lunch in the future.

We stopped in on a Saturday night after a movie at AMC30. It's a cozy place with fun decor. It was busy and we were seated right away. We were greeted with chips and salsa. The salsa was tasty, but the chips were a bit stale. We started with the fritas locas, which were waffle fries with nacho toppings. The jalapeño cheese was delicious! And the rest of the toppings were great too. This was a great app. For mains we got a veggie quesadilla, chicken fajitas and a fish and salmon taco. The fish taco was extremely overcooked, but otherwise the toppings were good. The salmon taco was pretty good, but nothing special. Chicken fajitas were amazing. The chicken and veggies were well flavored and tender. The veggie quesadilla was also very good, but we wish there was more filling. There was a lot of empty tortilla. We also asked for hot sauce and they brought 2 hot salsas. Both were very tasty and added a lot of flavor. Our waitress was also very sweet and checked on us often. Overall, we'll definitely be back any time we happen to be at AMC30.

3.5 but rounded up to 4 - I do like how they revamped the entire restaurant. It still kinda has that UNO feel but the decor is nice and bright. Service was very friendly, food came out very quickly. They start you with seasoned chips and their 3 salsas. The hot salsa was ok, the mild salsa was not good (just tasted like tomatoes), but the spicy pineapple salsa was delicious. I had the chile rellenos which were not bad but not that great either. With so many options on the menu, I'd probably try something else next time. My friend got chicken enchiladas - one with mole sauce and 2 with salsa verde. She really enjoyed those. We also shared a side of esquites which was tasty with the chips. The drinks were good but very weak on the alcohol. Overall I think I would return but maybe try some of the tacos or some of the other specialty items.

Visited Raice's yesterday and met a friend for early dinner. We got there during happy hour and the house margaritas were two dollars off. Of course, we had to start with one of those. The glasses were tall, it was a nice portion. The margaritas were delicious. Over the rocks, not frozen. Exactly how I like them. The chips come with a fleet of salsas. There were three of them. The mild sauce was really good and the green salsa was spicy and delicious. Supposedly Raices is known for their guacamole so of course we had to order one of those. Correction, we actually ordered two because we wiped the first one out so fast. It was really good. We split a chicken fajita and there was more than enough for both of us and we actually took three take out containers home with us. Lots of food and it was delicious. Our waitress was attentive, polite, but gave us time to enjoy our company and didn't intrude. The only semi-Eyebrow raising thing was the busboy who dumped a water glass all over our table And just stood there while my friend and I tried to mop it up with non-absorbent polyester napkins. He mumbled something like "cool" and walked away. I thought he was gonna bring us more napkins, but no, he was done and he just walked away. Later, he took just one of our takeout container while we were still sitting at our table and he threw it away. Our waitress did replace that, but it was very unusual. I will mention that there was entertainment later during the dinner service. The singer started out playing violin and he had recorded back up music. At some point he started roving around the restaurants singing. He was very talented, his voice was beautiful, and it really added to the ambience of the restaurant. I'll be back.

The food is better than most local places in terms of taste, presentation and portion-to-price. We ordered the quesa-birria which was very filling as it came with three mini quesa's along with the rice and beans. There was a good portion of meat filling in each birria dipped corn shell vs the thin smear of meat I've received at other Mexican fare restaurants nearby. The complimentary salsa trio with chips was a nice start to the meal. All three salsas were fresh and each uniquely flavorful. Very friendly and quick service. Interior is remodeled in a very nice, tasteful Mexican style. I would easily come back here for my future Mexican cravings.

My first carry out from here was OK but I prefer the food from my usual Mexican places. I got veggie fajitas. The vegetables were too spicy (a first) and the accompanying tortillas, refried beans and rice were pretty average. The guacamole was excellent. My wife's wet burrito was just OK (per her, it wasn't worth paying $5 for the mole sauce). Her churro bites dessert was yummy; the combination of cinnamon, dough, chocolate sauce, and gelato made it so. I admire Raices for offering less common dishes but, given my experience and that it's pricier than my usual places, I probably won't come here too often.

Everything was delicious! Great new Mexican restaurant. The restaurant is a feast for the eyes. Colorful and interesting. The food was delicious! Very helpful answering questions about the menu. All around enjoyable dining experience.

The inside is so authentically decorated and the service was friendly and attentive! The complementary salsa was a nice touch and we received three mini versions of hot, mild, and medium (green), which I think ended up being my favorite. We ordered the street corn appetizer, which was in cup-form (not on the cob) and was delicious! For our dinner, we shared the steak fajitas, which was plenty for 2 people. The steak was tender, veggies were caramelized! I was very impressed with the atmosphere, food quality, and service. They had a delicious variety of margarita flavors, so that's on the list to try next time!

This is the most underrated Mexican restaurant in our area. The fact that the Backdoor Taco in Rochester fills up but this place doesn't is absolutely shameful. The locals would rather gawk at lights than eat a decent Mexican meal. These people also clog up McDonald's drive through's, so they are shameful. The service, food, and costs are great here. We truly enjoyed our margaritas and enchiladas and can't wait to come back here.

Love the tre letch ....food was average ,we had the fish tacos ....they came fried and the pineapple salsa had no taste...salsa was ok .... Overpriced

It's been a minute since we've had a cute Mexican restaurant with all the vibes and flavour! Food was great, service was great, ambiance top tier! My fav was the chicken tortilla soup and the churro bowl, those two alone will have me back in a heartbeat!

We were blown away by the food, the service and the atmosphere. This restaurant is in the corner of the shopping center on Mound and M59/Hall Road. It is where UNO's pizzeria used to be. The inside has been completely redone- the decor is very festive. Chips are brought to the table accompanied by 3 different salsa's (mild, hot, and a green citrusy). The chips have a great flavor and texture- they have a nice thickness to them. All 3 salsa's are delicious! We also get the queso jalapeño which is AMAZING - it's not too hot- but does have a little heat. Highly recommend My husband gets the chicken quesadilla- he said it is good but would like it better if it was a little more grilled so the tortilla was more browned on the outside- but still good. I get the quesa-birria dinner it comes with 3 pulled beef "tacos", beans and rice, and consume. The beef in them is absolutely delicious-it is sooo tender and flavorful. The service has been great every time we have been in for dinner. They have cocktails and a nice selection of mocktails also. I don't know if it's every Saturday night but when we went on a Saturday night there was a mariachi band that walked around playing music and singing --they were really good and took requests-- it was a really fun atmosphere. Looking forward to going back!!!

Excellent customer service with phenomenal food Their pricing is a very good value for what one gets. The building was an old "Numero Uno" pizza place and this new remodeled with a Mexican ambiance to it. Thoroughly a great experience.

Arrived 5 minutes after it opened and was greeted immediately and sat within a minute. Place looks clean and neat, the bar side had many TVs and music was playing at a good volume. Ordered the enchiladas, chicken. The meal came with chips and salsa also. The enchiladas plate was excellent and good potions. Came with beans, rice, sour cream and guacamole. Everything on my plate was yummy and I liked the special touch the tortilla holding the beans brought. Spoke with the owner and she was sweet and informative. I hope her restaurant does well and I will return for another yummy meal.

Food very good for a more "Americanized" Mexican. Ranks above other Americanized places, but not as good as authentic. Drinks are a bit pricey and margaritas too much ice. Won't hesitate to return though to try other menu options.

Mercedes was great! The food was delicious. Generous portions. Three kinds of salsa with the chips. Lunch comes with a free bowl of soup. We had pozole. Lots of hominy and big chunks of tender pork. The ground beef enchiladas were flavorful and the tortillas were soft and easy to eat with a fork. Big portion of rice, refried beans and fresh guacamole. Love the vibes. We also had a flight of tequila that went down smooth. Padre Azul. And again, Mercedes was great. She works mornings and afternoons. Be sure to ask for her.

Food was hugely disappointing. There is more meat in a $2. taco from a Taco Bell than there is in their $18. burrito. No compensation even after talking to the manager.. Will not return

As a Californian, I can confirm this place is the closest you can get to authentic Mexican food, I have tried multiple "Mexican" restaurants in Michigan and all either gave me food poisoning, were owned by white people who don't know what their doing (I'm white btw), or the staff wasn't friendly. Our waiter was very nice and conversational and it turns out he is from California as well, the food was good (I got the chicken flautas), and the place seemed clean, as well as the nice decorations reminding me of the Mexican restaurant back home. I AM giving it a four star because I think a few things can be changed, for one I think a spoon would be nice for the beans, and the food could be warmer (that could be because we went half an hour before they clown though) . Overall I think this place is quite nice!

Went there to try the food and we thought it was good,but expensive. So we will be back to Azteckas down the street.
