This Restaurant was Mi Zacatecas before and it had amazing drinks and an extensive selection of really good FOOD .It was great to go eat or Dance the night away. I have been wanting to go and try Raíces for a While since I follow them on Social Media and the food looked good in the pictures. I ordered an Esquite, a Guacamole with Chicharon , which they did not have chicharon so I got it with chips , we also ordered A ceviche mixto and a Michelada. We got complimentary chips and salsa . The salsa honestly tasted like it was store bought and not made in house . The Guacamole was mid It was more like mush with a bunch of chunky tomatoes . I like mine with chunky avocado. But it is all my preference. The esquite was extremely salty and very small portion for $8. The ceviche mixto was ok. My husband did enjoy the Michelada. We also wanted to order a dessert I have never tried called Carlota they offer but unfortunately they did not have it .The service was outstanding and very attentive. In total I believe we spent around $64. I think I will not be back because the food that I order was not to our taste.

I can't say enough positive things about my experience at Raices! We were greeted warmly upon entering and sat quickly although there was seven in our party. Our server Alayna was amazing in every way. Her knowledge of the menu and genuinely friendly nature just made for a more enjoyable time. Food and drinks were outstanding! Highly recommend...run, don't walk and support this family owned establishment.

Google
I love this place. The food is so good! The owner is just so cool. The drinks are good, fairly priced and the food. Oh yeah, well it’s worth mentioning twice.

Google
Good ceviche, very good steak tacos with a particularly good red sauce. Lovely corn tortillas with the ceviche. Salsa with the chips was lovely. And a lovely shrimp cocktail. Outstanding gob smacker of a bloody Mary – – that definitely woke me up. Lovely outdoor patio. Would absolutely come back again. accommodated her special request on the ceviche, which tells me it’s not premade. I love a Michelada, and they have a specialty one as well which I would love to come back and try.

If you have not tried Raíces Mexican Cuisine & Bar - you are missing out on some seriously DELICIOSO breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner items! Plus, they have a great drink menu for all ages! We had an amazing brunch! Oh, and the service was the cherry on top! Pictured below: Chorizo Hash, Chicken & Waffle, Huevos Rancheros, Chocolate Ibarra, and Traditional American Breakfast. (Not pictured: Vegetarian Omelet, Freshly squeezed OJ, Horchata, Cafe and homemade Blueberry & Raspberry Jams!)

Google
Very good Micheladas. We tried the nachos, taquitos and enchiladas. All were plated very nicely and had good flavor. Prices are a bit on the higher end and the location isn't the greatest. It's kind of hidden away and the dark windows do not give it much exposure. The inside decor is nice. Music was playing at a reasonable level and the service was wonderful.

Great place to hangout. Alexis and his team are wonderful people and very hospitable. Love the selections in the menu.

Google
We had lunch at the Sterling Hts, MI location today. The food was great. Our server, Mercedes was great too! She knew all about the dishes and the ingredients. We were ready to leave but when she described the desserts, each of which could feed two people, we ordered two of them! We will be going back again soon.

Yelp
Fresh taco tortillas, freshness you can actually taste. I ordered steak tacos and the meat was tender and seasoned perfectly! The hot sauce (might be salsa, please excuse my ignorance) that came with the tacos were TO DIE FOR!! My mezcal drink was also a hit. Thankful to have Raices in our community. It definitely feels like a place we can all come together and enjoy the ambiance, the friendly service, the amazing food, great drinks and even better company! Check them out, Raices is always a hit!

Yelp
Their servers were nice. The ambiance was decent. Considering the prices, the food should be outstanding. The food could improve in flavor, texture, and moisture. I will say the meats were extremely dry and overcooked! There is a difference between cooking your food thoroughly and then to the point of taking all the moisture out, which is how both our plates were. When you butterfly shrimp, it shouldn't be cooked too long, as you already made it thinner by butterflying the shrimp with the tail on. When chewing too long on shrimp, that means it was dried out. The rice wasn't as dry as the meat, but their "flavored" rice (versus white rice) lacked. The beans were fine- totally would have given 1 star if they messed up beans. We are in California, it's hard to mess up Mexican food, and to call this "cuisine", they are truly missing the point. The cocktail I ordered needed more punch to it. They charged me a Lot for extra tortillas, which is beyond me, because they weren't even homemade. Overall, I would Not recommend eating here. Totally overpriced for what was presented. Dry food displeases the palate. Total disappointment eating here, considering the good Yelp reviews.

Yelp
We stopped in hoping for a good Mexican meal, but unfortunately we didn't stay past the complimentary chips and salsa. The chips tasted undercooked, almost raw, and the salsa reminded me more of canned tomato sauce than fresh salsa. It just didn't make us want to order anything else. The restaurant was advertised as Mexican, but the atmosphere felt more like an American burger joint, which was a bit off-putting. On the plus side, they did seat us quickly after a short wait and brought water and chips right away, which was thoughtful. Unfortunately, the chips/salsa and overall vibe just weren't what we were looking for, so we decided to leave.

Yelp
What a hidden gem for American Canyon! I can't believe they were not busier. My mom and I had lunch here and both the food and service were terrific. Your first serving of chips and salsa is complimentary, but after that, it's an added charge for extra. I didn't mind because it was just the two of us, so I do wonder how many baskets of chips they drop off when the party size is larger (just something I was thinking about). My mom had the fish tacos and they were fully loaded with toppings and a crema. I had the green chile chicken enchiladas. I do wish that the enchiladas had cheese, but it was still delicious. The salsa had a bit of a kick but I got some relief from the sour cream drizzled on top.

Yelp
Spoiler alert: We're coming back! Came here on an early Friday evening. They had happy hour(s) going on. Being local we were going to go out of town for dinner, but so glad we decided to drop in at Raices. Everything from the carne asada fries, super burrito, Fajitas Cielo Mar y Tierra- so fresh tasting! to the pitcher of Sangria was so very great tasting. The waitress -- and other staff too were very friendly and checked on us. Very cool casual family atmosphere. Apparently there's live music on Saturday evenings too.

Yelp
I love supporting locally owned restaurants and I feel a little disappointed in myself for not coming in sooner. I don't even realize the ownership had changed (technically not really), this brother/sister duo took over after their parents and gave the space their own flair. Love the food. My favorite Mexican sit down restaurant in American Canyon. The service team is always smiling and happy to help. Prices are average and it's tucked away so unless you know about it you probably don't know where to start looking. Their happy hour menu is so good and I am obsessed with the flautas. Can't wait to come back again.

Yelp
We are long time American Canyon residents and we used to go to Mi Zacatecas often, but didn't return during the pandemic. Fast forward a few years later, we made our first visit to Raices since we heard that the children took over the business - great! First visit, I ordered a super burrito with asada and pastor. I was charged an extra $6 b/c of adding an additional meat. However, there was not an increase in the volume of meat to justify an extra $6. Burrito was good, but not worth $21. I didn't want to come back because of this, but my wife said we must support local businesses here in AC. Second visit - Let's support local businesses so we went there again. I ordered a grilled chicken burrito (no additional meat b/c I didn't want to pay the additional $6 like last time). I asked for some hot sauce for my burrito and I didn't know I was going to be charged $2.59 for a small 1.5 ounce of sauce. The charge said EXTRA salsa. I didn't have 1 hot sauce to begin with, so how is this considered EXTRA? REALLY???? I asked for a side of enchilada sauce to dip my chips in and I also didn't know I was gonna be charged $2.07. These sauces are always complimentary at other Mexican restaurants that I often go to. $4.66 for like 3 ounces of sauces.....Thats $1 away from a double cheeseburger from in and out - you gotta be kidding me!!!! I gave our local business a second chance (as my wife suggested), but I can't get over the fact that I got nickled and dimed. I left very disappointed! Q: Is it worth losing a customer due to charging ridiculous prices for something that should be complimentary?

Yelp
What a great neighborhood restaurant and so close to my house! Came here for brunch on a Saturday morning and we came here because it was open super early and they served cocktails for breakfast. Because we like our drinks STRONG! Even at 9:30am in the morning!! We shared the breakfast burrito and the pozole, both delicious. I think it would be nice if they offered some type of salsa on the side for the burrito. The pozole was yummy but it wasn't piping hot. It was borderline warm. But still delicious. My friend and I ordered the carajillo de mazapan and the cafe de olla martini and oh my-both drinks were amazing! I especially loved the carajillo and I couldn't stop licking the peanut butter tasting rim. So yummy! The interior is really nice and I plan to come back soon to try their dinner menu/drinks.

Yelp
Met up for dinner with friends at Raices. It was our first time here and we had such a great experience at Raices! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The Baja fish tacos were perfectly seasoned and the margaritas were spot on. The service was fast and friendly -- everyone made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The restaurant has a warm, inviting vibe that's perfect for family dinners or casual nights out. Definitely one of the best Mexican spots in American Canyon!

Candis M K.

Yelp
Well the wait was way too long...we ordered drinks and I could not detect any alcohol in mine.my husband had beer..no problem there..the wait was inexcusable..they had a large party, but to ignore 2 people seemed rude..I ordered fish tacos...big mistake..I didn't like them at all. I want to say something positive but I would not go back. Plus. It was way too expensive ..it's sad because I was looking forward To something special..not that we have anything in the area other than Mexican restaurants...

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend came here on a Saturday night and were seated right away. I really love their interior and dish ware that they use. Complimentary chips and salsa were yummy, but not unlimited which is understandable. For my drink I got a horchata and for my entree I got the veggie burrito. The horchata was smaller than I was expecting and had a little too much spice than I preferred. The veggie burrito was a little different from all the veggie burritos that I've tried in that it was more saucy and the avocado was on top of the burrito. I didn't mind this, but I did feel that theburrito lacked flavor overall. There were a few times that I ordered their flautas preparadas to go which I'm a big fan of. It comes with salsa and another type of red sauce that I don't know that name of. I've tried the chicken, and potato and cheese and I actually prefer the potato and cheese flautas.

Yelp
Came here for brunch with my family. This place is nestled in a little shopping center, parking was pretty easy. We walked in and immediately greeted and seated. Very nice and roomy inside, I believe they also have a banquet room. I think our server is the owner, she is great. She memorized our whole order and not a mistake was made. No order went forgotten. The food tasted great. I ordered the Belgian waffle and chilaquiles. My family enjoyed their food as well. I definitely would return whenever in the area again.

Yelp
It is an absolute pleasure for my first review of 2025 to be Raices. This local, family owned restaurant is a hidden gem. It's tucked away in a small plaza, but the inside far exceeds the small town outer appearance. I received a warm greeting as I entered through the door and the service was excellent. I was just in time for HH, so I decided on the nachos and a cocktail. The HH nacho portion is generous and the El Sol de Mexico drink was delicious ( I ordered it with Mezcal instead of Tequila.) The owner was friendly and filled me in on the exciting things to come. She mentioned Sunday brunch and music in the near future. It's located right off of Highway 29, so if you're headed to Napa this is a great stop for a tasty meal.

Yelp
Fabulous food, fantastic service, clean& very friendly waitress. I enjoyed the experience of all the delicious food, so as my sister who was visiting me from New York. My son & his wife introduced us to this nice restaurant. I would definitely return back to Raices Mexican Cuisine.

Yelp
This little gem in American Canyon is hopefully here to stay. Not sure if it's the same owners as Mi Zecatacas, but what an improvement if so. It's a little more trendy and the drinks are super good. Not sure what the name of our waitress was, but to the young Guamanian woman: THANK YOU SO MUCH you were awesome! We went during happy hour and the mango La Perfecta ( mango margarita) was amazing! My husband had a take on their old fashioned ( not sure what the name was) and that was also incredibly delicious. Kudos to the bartender as well. I wanna say the mango puree they used was fresh! If not, it sure did taste like it! Hope you guys stick around so that this can be my go to place !

Yelp
We aren't from the area but this is definitely worth driving the 1hr to eat again. The hostess/bartender was super sweet and attentive as well as our waitress! They even went out of their way and brought us both aguachile sauces to see which we liked best before ordering. The aguachile verde itself was awesome and super flavorful! The mocktails were to die for!! I had the Piñada and it was so good I ordered 2 more lol! The place itself was super cute and had great vibes! Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Viri did an amazing job rebranding! The decor is beautiful and really makes the dining experience feel elevated. There's nothing really like it in American Canyon! Our server was super sweet and attentive. I ordered the chilaquiles with green sauce and steak. Omg the steak was so delicious. My fiance got pozole and we both really enjoyed that as well. My most favorite thing was the Carajillo de Mazapan. I will keep coming back for that drink. It was so delicious and actually prettttty strong. It was sweet but you could still taste the liquor which I appreciate in a cocktail. I can't wait to come back to try more of their brunch menu and of course to order more Carajillo!

Yelp
Sorry but I am not a fan. It was ok food and drinks. The enchilada was dry and so as the Baja fish. Drinks were like juice. Jalapeno was a $1 ea and extra verda salsa was $2.50 and its in a super small tiny to go sauce container. And they couldn't even give me a bag for my to go. Two ladies were nice and pleasant. But at the end of the day there are more other better options.

Yelp
3 Days Later...Food Still Great Found This Place On Yelp and took me awhile to finally come try it out. If you live right here in Vallejo, American Canyon, Benicia this place is in your backyard delicious great spot with some excellent cooking and nice cocktails. And Let Not Forget Staff Will Make Sure You Are Satisfied With A Great Big Beautiful Smiles

Yelp
A local gem! The happy hour is from 3-7pm and... late night happy hour as well! Drinks are great and food is delicious. The server is always pleasant and very attentive.

Yelp
What a fantastic new Mexican restaurant. It's a an reimagining of the previous venue. The food was great and you could tell it's authentic and freshly prepared. The service was great, one of the new owners helped us initially and gave us the backstory. It's got a more upscale feel than the previous restaurant. Great for date night. We will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
The server and owner were nice and friendly. Ambience is nice but music was so loud. Owner saw our beans were missing and apologized. Our server was on his own for a while and he wasn't attentive as it got busy. The first time we came here 2 months ago the food had flavor. Today's visit was disappointing. Black beans, pinto refried beans, chile relleno was one palm size little piece for $20+. Pork carnitas was just ok, also $20+, I liked the rice and chips and salsa. The rest were bland and boring. It lacked flavor and seasoning like salt. It's upsetting because every plate was expensive. Not worth the drive and cost. We will not be returning and not recommending.
google avatar

LaChaya M.

Yelp
This place is a 10/10. Highly recommend! The food was very flavorful. I had the mushroom taco plate sans the mushrooms which came with rice and beans. The server was very nice and gave recommendations for food and drinks. Tried their lavender mimosa which is available when they have brunch. This will definitely be a regular spot for me. Good happy hour menu too
google avatar

Yelp
First time visiting, and I was impressed! This family-owned restaurant is definitely worth supporting. While the location is a bit far, it's clean (no sticky menus!) and has plenty of parking. As for the food: they don't have dedicated vegan options, but if you ask, they'll make something for you--which I appreciated. However, I'm taking off a star because there were no vegan items listed on the menu. I almost didn't go because of that, and some people might skip the place altogether if they don't feel comfortable asking. I highly recommend adding vegan options or at least noting that they're available. Food was ok. Portions are on the smaller side, but that seems to be the trend lately--higher prices, smaller portions. That said, if I'm in the area again, I'd give them another try!

Yelp
Holy great food Batman! In town for a concert and looking for a place to get a quick bite before check in at the hotel. It is stuck in the corner, so the entry is a little deceiving, but open the doors and the restaurant opens up before your eyes. We were quickly greeted with a smile and asked if we wanted to sit inside or out on the patio. We opted for the patio. Warm with a light breeze to keep the temperature just right. Agin looking for more tapas or apps, we opted for the shrimp and fish ceviche and the steak nachos. The portions were huge and at a great price. Absolutely delicious. The presentation was perfect and invited you in to the amazing flavors in each dish with fresh avocado. The only thing that was off was the service. The server missed on bringing plates and utensils then he brought those, but no napkins. He was kind and helpful, but chances are had maybe 1 too many tables to care for. Even with that the food and the ambiance drowned that out as we were having a great time. This experience was so great that we tried to race back to the restaurant after the concert to miss the closing bell my minutes. Can't say we will ever be back in American Canyon again, but if we are this will be our first and last stop.
google avatar

Yelp
Racies, formerly Mi Zacatecas, remains the same family restaurant my family and I have loved since the late '90s, back when they were located at Rancho Square in Vallejo. The food still speaks for itself--like this chimichanga, simply and elegantly presented with fresh crema, avocado drizzle, and microgreens, paired with vibrant pico de gallo. The flavors are just as memorable as ever, and the attention to detail shows in every bite. Same family, same heart--just a new name and a refreshed space.

Yelp
Wandered here randomly because the location worked well for our small group. Turned out to be perfect! The food and service was excellent. Everything I had especially the Michaeladas and shrimp tacos was so good. Highly recommend

Yelp
Good vibes, specialty cocktails and a whole refresh from the remodel! Stopped in while waiting for my massage next door and was greeted by the owner Viri who was such a great host! They got the games playing on the big screen, a bar, and great music in the background! Will definitely come back!

Yelp
Had my first burrito at a work luncheon. The burrito was delicious. I usually get no beans but the Carne Asada burrito I had with the refried beans were delicious. So I decided to try them again to see if it was just a fluke...IT WAS NOT! I ordered the Super Burrito w/Carnitas. It was delicious. The ingredients used tasted so fresh and the fresh tortilla chips were also delicious. Now let's talk about the service. Beyond superb. Friendly welcome the minute I hit the door. And the professional and friendly welcome just didn't extend to me because I was there in person, it was also extended to the person calling in with a phone order. The atmosphere was lovely too. Delicious Food + Awesome Customer Service + Great Atmosphere = Success

Yelp
My hubby and I usually use Yelp to figure where to eat and Yelp didn't disappoint us. Viri was very accommodating and gave us a little bit of an insight of her newly (3 1/2 weeks) opened business. Alayna, our server was lovely to suggest a gluten free option for me. The ambiance was amazing. Will definitely come back!!!

Yelp
I decided to text my husband and ask him to meet me for Happy Hour at Raices. I am so happy I did. After looking at the menu online I decided I wanted to order the Empanadas de Tinga. 2 empanadas filled with shredded chicken that had been simmered in a Chipotle Sauce and served w/a delicious aioli. SO GOOD! My husband ordered Guacamole con Chicharron. Nothing tastier than fresh Guacamole and light, crunchy pork rinds. Once again, SO GOOD! And last but not least the Mezcalita. At the suggestion of the owner I chose the Hibiscus (LA violeta) with a Tajin rim. It didn't disappoint. 7 words: Perfect drink to end a long week. CHEERS. The owner and staff were just lovely. Also found out they have a Trivia Night on Thursday. We will definitely be going back to Raices again.

Yelp
Went here based on the 5-star reviews. The presentation of the food is great but man does the meat lack flavor. I ordered the chimichanga and it taste really bland for the amount you are paying ($18). The service is great. The vibes are great but the quality of taste is lacking in my opinion. Need to focus more on food quality over the presentation of food.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Our first and definitely not our last time visiting Raices! Not only were the drinks, Food, and ambience perfect, but the service was excellent which is rare these days!! We had carnitas and the chili relleno with the recommendation from the sister, who was spot on. She is also the one who owned the restaurant along with her brother, both were very attentive and made sure were we being taken care of! This spot is very clean and had a casual and cute atmosphere. We will definitely come back for the promise of music, but also for the tasty food and drinks!

Yelp
My husband just happened to stop by this amazing restaurant after visiting a client and brought home such a delightful dinner. First off, this food is made with love! You can taste it in everything he brought home. I am a lover of lamb and I had the BEST lamb burger I have ever had. The sweetness of the bread mixed with the spicy sauce and the perfectly cooked lamb was such a delight. My husband ordered the Chili Verde and he is still telling me how much flavor it had. "I will like the f*ckn plate" are his exact words. You need to try this place! And please oh please try the lamb burger! You won't be disappointed!

Josephine M.

Yelp
Food could use more seasoning. The place should consider turning up the air conditioner. It was really hot inside. Also had a problem when it came to paying the bill. Card was charged extra but good thing in a couple days money was returned.

Yelp
My son took me to Raices for my birthday brunch this morning, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint! Viri, the owner was so sweet, seated us in a comfortable booth, introduced herself, told us all about their new establishment, and made wonderful recommendations for our drinks and meals. I love the decor and ambiance, and just good vibes all around. Viri crafted us amazing brunch cocktails - the cafe de olla martini and Jamaica mimosa were so good! The chips were served fresh/warm and the house & salsa habanero salsa were on point as well. My son ordered the Aguachile Shrimp and I ordered the Chilaquiles. We were both so pleased with our entrees, the chilaquiles with green sauce was hands down the best I've ever had! Thank you for making my birthday morning so special! We can't wait to come back to try more dishes and happy hour. I think we found our new favorite spot!

Yelp
This place is ok, I ordered 5 asada soft tacos, tortillas seem homemade but didn't taste homemade, no grilled jalapeno that usually comes with street tacos, and the onions were not grilled either, just chopped and topped. Soft drinks come in a can, I can't stand this, it's 2025, let's get it together. This restaurant nickels and dimes you like no other. First let me say, 13 dollars for chips and salsa is crazy when most Mexican restaurants give this for free and they have charge you 3 dollars for a refill of chips and 2 dollars for a refill of salsa. This restaurant also has 2 different charges, one cash and one card. They pass their service charge on to you. This should be advertised before you even sit. I was given a small dipping cup of salsa for 5 tacos, waitress did tell me to let her know if I wanted more, but I didn't ask for more because I was worried about getting charged another 2 dollars. I really want to say this place is trying really hard to be a fancy Mexican restaurant with the pricing they have but the food taste doesn't match the prices. My wife and I went their at lunchtime and the location only had 1 other customer in the building. This should of been the red flag. I cannot recommend this place at all. The waitress was really nice though.
google avatar

Adriana D.

Yelp
If you are looking for authentic Mexican food with amazing service!!! This is the place. The restaurant ambiance is welcoming and beautiful. Their Menudo and Beans are the closest I've had to the flavors in Mexico.
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Beautiful place but the food we had was overpriced and tasteless. It was a waste of time and money. Will not go back.
google avatar

John F.

Yelp
What a great spot! Total steal for the prices and the wait staff was just beyond friendly! I can not begin to express how helpful the hostesses were and I feel like if I ever come back it will be with my son who absolutely adores Mexican food. Until next time, tell Jose I will be back wearing the same black leather jacket!

I found this restaurant thru Yelp and was really thankful I did! This is one of the best restaurants experiences I have had in quite awhile! This is a family owned restaurant run by the children of the original owners their parents! The pride and attention to detail that is shown is a testament to the Parents' love of food and wanting to share it with the public! The food is fresh and is authentic! This not an interpretation of Mexican food, it is the real thing! From the appetizers to the main course the flavors are amazing! Best Fajitas"I have ever had ever had! The staff are very friendly and very attentive! The Grandparents also help out in the kitchen so the food is cook and served to their approval! If You want an excellent meal served with care Raices (means Roots) this is the place! I cannot wait to go back and enjoy this experience again! Thank you Raices for making my Wife's birthday unforgettable!

Yelp
I'm happy they're back!! Some of our favorites are still on the menu. A new addition is the potato flautas. They are delicious. Service was great. Will be back to try some old and new dishes

Yelp
We were looking for a nice place to celebrate my wife's birthday and found this hidden gem! It's a very casual spot where you can enjoy good food. We had the pleasure of meeting Viridiana, one of the owners, and it was a delight for my family and me. The service was exceptional; Cinthia was phenomenal--knowledgeable and friendly. We loved the macha salsa; it was very good! I recommend this place, and we will return to try other dishes!

Yelp
We love the new menu and have been several times now. The house margaritas are and we always take leftovers home since the portion sizes are great.

Yelp
We used to come to this place when it was Zacatecas. We walked in to see what this was now. To find out the food is AMAZING. I ordered menudo, my wife stake burrito with everything and my kids had chicken tenders with fries. The owners are the "kids" from the previous owners and they are keeping the same food with a modern twist to it. I recommend you to try it out and if you regret it you let me know.

Yelp
Maybe the best Mexican food and service in the area. We had lunch and drinks and both were amazing. I had the chicken mole and my wife had the carnitas. The Mole was their old family recipe and must've been cooked for hours. We will definitely be back when in the area. Thanks
