Best Middle Eastern Food in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Located in Duluth, Cafe Raik labels itself “Mediterranean,” but this family-owned restaurant, run by chef Faiq Usman, focuses on the dishes of the Middle East, using old family recipes. Expect to find homey renditions of labneh, falafel, and baba ganoush on the menu here, as well as platters of shawarma, kabobs, and tawook." - Sarra Sedghi

This place is super cute and charming, started with some traditional tea, served proper and classy..the way tea deserves to be served😀 Also, tried few appetizers...the star was the cauliflower served with the dill ..so satisfying! Visually pretty good looking dish. The only thing I didn't find really good is the falafel, very salty ... Everything else was great. Plan to visit again and explore dinner menu.

Google
Hidden gem. My husband found this place by googling on our anniversary. The menu options were limited but whatever we ordered was the best. Lamb shank.. wow.. even kids chicken tenders was best. I simply loved the ambience the service and the food.

Between appetizers, entrees and drinks, we ordered we ordered about 8 different items. About 3 of them were mediocre at best. However, the other 5, were off the charts good. Great appetizers you should try: - Baba Ganoush - Pita (this is not the usual Pita, it's thicker and fluffier) - Arayes - Fried Cauliflower The lamb shank was very ordinary and so was a Palestinan flatbread dish whose name i forget. The shawarma sandwhich was extremely oily, but good. Desserts: Knafeh was awesome. Chocolate cake was run of the mill and Tahini cookies were so so. The Arabic coffee was very interesting. I liked it. I would like to visit them again, but I'm going to give it a while for them to work out the kinks. Great place otherwise !

This was my first time visiting this restaurant, and I’ll definitely be coming back. The food was so good that I only managed to snap a photo of the baba ghanoush and fresh pita — I couldn’t wait to dig into the beef bowl I ordered from the lunch menu. The restaurant itself is beautiful; it’s clear a lot of thought went into the design. Everything was spotless, with great lighting throughout, even in the bathroom. Our waiter was incredibly kind and attentive, checking on us often and giving fantastic recommendations. Honestly, I wish I were there right now!

Google
Great atmosphere! Nice place for date night and a friendly meet up. Our server was very nice and attentive. Cocktail and beverage options were creative, I would have loved more mock-tail options. I was disappointed that our entrées were not as flavorful as my other Mediterranean foodie experiences. Simply put I felt the food was a bit underseasoned, the food was presented well but my only complaint is to take the flavors up a notch. Overall it was an enjoyable experience. The best dish of the night was the cauliflower appetizer it went so fast I didn't even get a picture of it! 10/10

This was our first time at this restaurant, and it truly exceeded our expectations. The food, ambiance, drinks, and overall vibe were outstanding. They even have live music on Fridays, which added a great touch to the evening. We had an unforgettable time celebrating Valentine’s Day here, and as a sweet gesture, they gave us roses when we were leaving. It was the perfect spot for the occasion—I couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate. Highly recommend!

Google
The food, service, and overall experience was great. We came here for mother's Day lunch they had the place nicely decorated. It was very busy but the food came out in a timely fashion. Staff did everything they could to make sure all was good. We were satisfied and will definitely be coming back! Every meal was delicious from the chicken, beef, filet mignon, and lamp chops.

This is a hidden gem in Suwanee. This was our first time and we absolutely loved the food. We ordered hummus, falafel, zatar fries and the taste of food was scrumptious and no wonder why dietician’s recommend Mediterranean food for a healthy diet. Would love to visit again and again. The ambience is great and lively.

Yelp
Great flavor and atmosphere. Service was very good and explained all the dishes and offered many suggestions. The party tried many new items and all were impressed.

Yelp
A good spot for business lunches. Nice deco, good presentation, good portion. Koobideh was juicy with bites, rice was good (can't go wrong with rice and that's like almost any other West Asian/Mediterranean places). Harissa offered was tangy with some kicks but not enough. Not so sure about dips (hummus and baba ghanoush), was quite forgettable as I can't recall anything that stood out. Salad options were hmm.. Skip the cucumber/mint refresher; was too watery with not much flavor. Sloooooooooooooooooooooow service.

Yelp
Went on a Friday night and enjoyed the atmosphere--nicely decorated interior with live music. We ordered the fried calamari, fried cauliflower, salmon kabob, and filet mignon kabob. The filet mignon was tender and super tasty, definitely the star for me. Our server was friendly and attentive. The calamari portion was small for the price and the pieces were cut a bit too tiny, and cocktail menu could use more variety. It was the main reason I'm taking a star off. Overall, good vibes and food, I'll be back!

Yelp
Great Service, as soon as we arrived we were seated on the patio. We had our dog with us and had no issues getting a table. DOG FRIENDLY! Great Food, The food was high quality and delicious, i think we over ordered. Ambience was very good too, they had some music playing outside. I would have definitely added some Hookahs to the patio, that would had added the last star!

Yelp
You knew this place had the right atmosphere because of the parties who were just standing around and talking right outside the restaurant. Every course we had was impeccable. This ranks with some of the best Mediterranean food we have ever had. And our server was fast, friendly and made great recommendations. Another plus was outlet next to the table so that you can charge your phone or get some work done while you dine. But the atmosphere lends itself to a more romantic setting with a nice bar, soft lighting and nice, decorative touches.

Yelp
Raik restaurant is such a good option for Mediterranean food. Their menu is extensive and has something good for everyone. The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated and the ambience is quite lovely. The seating is very nice and comfortable. The service I would say is bit on the slower side but overall the food is the main attraction of this place. If I was talking to management I would tell them to get their servers to pay attention and make sure that their tables are taken care of. We started our meal with baba ganoush dip and fluffy pita bread. Their bread was nice and piping hot. Then we had their beef flatbread which tasted amazing. For my entree I had chicken kabobs with lentil and bulgar mix. My entree was great. Lastly in desserts we tried the chocolate cake with kunafe layers and that was pretty good as well. I will definitely will be going back and trying more food choices. I really enjoyed the food quality of this place.

Yelp
This was a great experience. The space is bright and beautiful. They have live music on Fridays. We couldn't snag a last minute reservation so we chose to sit at the bar. Our service was excellent. I tried one of their winter cocktails, the sugar cookie espresso martini. It was delicious. We started off with the baba ganoush. The pita that comes with it is so light fluffy. It's one of the best I've had. I got the chicken kebab which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Hubby got the lamb, and it was a huge portion. He liked it a lot. I like the offer the lentil side instead of just rice. We can't wait to be back.

Yelp
Got the hummus, cheese rolls and lamb shank. THE HUMMUS WITH HOT HOMEMADE PITA IS A MUST!! The pita is fresh immediately brought to your table out of the oven. Lamb shank was insanely tender, highly recommend. Reasonable prices! Service was helpful and quick and the inside decor is very nice, clean, quiet enough to talk and live music started playing!

Yelp
Raik is beautifully decorated, I mean I was in awe of the place the minute I walked in! My friends and I shared a couple of dishes--fried cauliflower, falafel, and chicken kabobs with mujadara. Every single dish was made fresh and was hot! I would totally go back just for the mujadara, it was too god. Flavors were amazing and we had such a good time! Service was great, our server consistently checked in. Would definitely recommend!!

Yelp
This was our second visit here! Last time, weather was warmer so so sat on the patio. We decided to dine here on Feb 14, and the restaurant was not busy but had every table reserved for the evening. The tables all had a single stem rose and ceiling was being covered with balloons. We ordered a baba ghanoush - which came promptly with hot off the grill pita bread. Delish! I ordered the Beef kabobs and Mujadara and it was amazingly delicious! How ever, the grilled tomato was not grilled, at all. It was just a sad tomato half laying cut side down on my plate. My husband ordered a veggie kebab plate and when we got it, it had falafel on it. We of course had to return it and ask for the correct order. It took forever for the correct order to come back - but they had added falafel as a complimentary dish due to the delay. We also had the kunifa dessert - it was way buttery but pretty decent with the icecream. I would still come here because the food and service are quite good and so is ambience.

Yelp
This location is the one next to town center in Suwanee. Very convenient walk to the Square. They have outdoor patio seating or inside seating. The restaurant inside is very beautifully decorated. I love the wooden accents and chairs, and they did a great job on the design. The food is very colorful and pretty however the taste to me fell short. Most of our friends don't like to eat lamb because it has a gamy taste to it. For some reason all the meat items we ordered had that same taste, which was quite offputting. The best thing on the menu that we tried was the pita bread. It tasted like it was homemade, so soft, fresh, fresh, and hot out of the oven. The eggplant baba ganoush was very pretty with tiny bits of pomegranate to give it a pop of color and green olive oil. My only complaint was that it came out very white and creamy and didn't have much eggplant in it. The baked pita was a great start to our meal and then everything else went down from there. We ordered the fried calamari, which in their pictures look very crispy, but when we received it, it was very oily and lightly battered. Which made it so it not crispy. The dipping sauce was half of the plate. The serving size was pretty small for the calamari in my opinion. We ordered the beef 2 of each Shawarma bowl and chicken Shawarma bowl. To our surprise, the chicken Shawarma tasted exactly like Lamb meet. Our friends do not like to eat lamb when we asked if we can switch the plate to just a plain salad with no protein, the chef was glad to do it. He did mention that the lamb is cooked on top of the chicken so there may have been some cross contamination in flavor. I hope they change the process they cook it, because that could be a big issue for lots of people. Both salads we tried on the menu were very refreshing, colorful ,and good. The lunch sandwich is really a wrap and not a sandwich. It's a whole stuffed pita cut in half. They do pack it with a lot of protein, but very little vegetable. It comes with a side of French fries. The french fries tasted a lot better than the pita sandwich itself. The fries tasted very similar to five guys french fries. Overall, the taste in food was why we gave it a two everything else was OK.. service was just fine, we had a newer-young server a little unexperienced, but that wasn't an issue at all for us.

Yelp
Nice restaurant for a night out. Prices are similar to Rumi's. Food is flavorful. Drinks are on point.
google avatar

Azin K.

Yelp
Our waiter was amazing and extremely helpful. The appetizers were all good but the entrees were a little disappointing especially the beef kabobs. They were dry and soooo tiny, just not worth the price. Overall it was nice to try somewhere new but I don't think it's worth going a second time.

Yelp
Food, service and atmosphere is great. Upscale Mediterranean food was needs in the area, as most are cafeteria style or takeout. I have vegan family members and there's plenty of options beyond salads to choose from.
google avatar

Dennis P.

Yelp
Gave it 5 stars when we came for dinner, and commented how I'd like to try the shawarma for lunch. Finally got around to coming here for that. Ordered beef shawarma bowl. It was amazing. Ordered hummus and some hot sauces to try. All were extraordinary. Everything is made here, and very fresh. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Yelp
Stopped in at the bar for a quick meal on our drive home to Greenville, SC. First of all, the space itself is stunning. Really beautifully designed. Second, the food was great. My husband had the filet skewer entree, and I had tabbouleh with a chicken skewer. Not all Mediterranean food is created equal, but this place did not disappoint. The service was on par with the rest of the experience. Friendly staff, great service. We don't live close but when we're in the area we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Loved everything about this place. Hope the owners stay on top of the staff to keep up the great quality and delicious food. Legitimately the number one Mediterranean/Arabic food spot in Georgia. The food was fresh and you can tell they use high quality ingredients. Fried Kibbeh: Number one fried kibbeh in Georgia, they stay true to the original recipe and it tastes amazing. Chicken kabob: spices were so delicious and tasty, definitely a good change from the blah Persian kabobs scattered all over Georgia. Loved the white rice that was included, not your typical Persian Basmati, this was true Arabic style rice, loved that it was moist and not caked up and dry. Zataar fries: these are a must, I got them to go and they were still crispy and delicious. Can tell they are hand cut. I suggest you ask for a side of their dill sauce, it goes well with the fries. Staff was A1, girls at the front desk were extremely welcoming. Gentlemen at the bar answered all of my questions in detail, took my order, and offered me a water until my takeout was ready. Felt welcome and comfortable. Will definitely return! Ambiance and environment are beautiful, and the place is kept very clean. Would definitely come back with a party and enjoy their dining room next time.

Yelp
So many of us have been waiting patiently for Cafe Raik to reopen. Such a lovely new venue decorated in classy neutrals and with ample parking. We were so pleased that Raik recently added lunch hours too! The family shared hummus with extra pita bread - so light and fluffy! And the hummus is the creamiest. Each of us ordered bowls from the new lunch menu. Portions, as you can see, are no joke. We had leftovers from both the beef shawarma and the mujadarra bowls. And for our pre-Mothers Day dessert was baklava which is served with a small scoop of ice cream. The baklava took me back with the fascinatingly intense taste of pistachios. So often baklava is made with cashews or walnuts. The pistachios are a distinct flavor - and recommended by me! Would love to return and test out the dinner menu! Welcome back Raik!

Yelp
I've been to this place twice and I love it. More on the pricier side but it's definitely worth it. The food is amazing and the staff is extremely welcoming. The servers that I've had have always been very sweet. It's a very beautiful restaurant as well
google avatar

Yelp
I dined at the bar today and had beef Shawarna (sandwich) with fries and a blueberry lemonaid . Both were very good. The bartender (didn't get his name) was very friendly and the service was great. I strongly recommend Raik to anyone who wants great Mediterranean food and great service!
google avatar

Yelp
Got the kabobs. The food was just ok. I've had better Mediterranean food at other restaurants.

Yelp
I had dinner (table of 7) here this past weekend with family friends. A couple of us were visiting from Texas and 1 from England and this was one of the best places we ate! The food was delicious and the service was amazing! Sabreen was our waitress and she was so very patient with us as we dealt with some group negotiations on who would actually pay the bill. :-D She was attentive, kind, energetic, and thorough. She even brought the itemized bill to us to review prior to accepting one of our older auntie's credit cards so we could verify everything for her. I highly recommend this restaurant for those looking for Mediterranean food!

Yelp
Food: AMAZING. We had the tabouli salad, hummus, filet, and beef kabob. I think the hummus could have used more acidity, but luckily the tabouli salad's acidity balanced it out. The kabob with the pesto-like dressing and the beet-crunchy-shallot-yogurt topping on top of the lentils was perfect. The filet is SO GOOD; had a nice crust and moist center; unfortunately the portion of it was small tho. For dessert we got the knahfeh and don't be scared! I was hesitant about the cheese, but the sweet syrup and ice cream nicely balances it out. Service: waiter was nice and gave us good recs; he strongly suggested the knafeh and we were pleasantly surprised. He frequently checked on us and we got to know him personally a lil! Ambiance: stunning. Simple and elegant. Great for a date night. Tips: I thought the hummus and pita ratio was off; so be prepared to order another pita haha.

Yelp
I came in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the great experience. The environment was very nice with a calm decor and gives off a comfortable vibe, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered the chicken shawafel and substituted the French fries for the mujadara, which was epic. The pita was warm and thin, allowing the focus to be on the fresh, vibrant filling. I particularly enjoyed the falafel element more than the chicken. The falafel was bursting with flavor, likely a combination of fava beans and chickpeas, and tasted incredibly fresh. The chicken was just okay, but it was overshadowed by the delicious falafel and crisp, fresh veggies. The mujadara was extremely flavorful, with lentils, cracked wheat, pickled onions, and a glaze that made it a perfect dish. Everything tasted so fresh and well-prepared. I would love to come back soon to explore more of the menu. This experience was a great start and definitely worthy of five stars.
google avatar

Yelp
My first time here, everything was so good! Our server Sean was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations for us. The highlights for me were the falafel and the tahini chocolate chip cookies. Everything was very well done, my mother in law loved the martinis and said they were one of the best she's had in a while. The inside is beautiful and the prices were actually very good for the location and the quality. We had a great time and will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Really pleasant experience first time in Raik. The menu is smaller and has a good selection of traditional Mediterranean dishes. It was our anniversary dinner so we tried a little bit of everything. Hummus, araza, chicken kebob and Greek salad. All was delicious! I would say the chicken kebob was perfectly cooked but a little under seasoned. The Greek salad and hummus were my favorite dishes. We also tried the grilled vegetables and fries for sides. The fires are fresh cut and fantastic! Service was good, overall a 5 experience. The interior of the restaurant is immaculate!

J N.

Yelp
Excellent services and great healthy Mediterranean food. The place is very clean and our waitress "Ali" was fantastic. Also, the drinks are amazing. I am definitely going back to try more delicious dishes from the middle east.
google avatar

Sergio L.

Yelp
Excellent food and flavor, great service. Good vibe with music. Had the Arayes, hummus, and raik salad.
google avatar

Deandra W.

Yelp
The decor in Raik during valentine weekend was beautiful! The lunch is more like a five course meal! I enjoyed every bit of this lunch dining experience. Friendly and lovely staff as well.
google avatar

Linda P.

Yelp
Modern, beautiful establishment. Was seated promptly. Sydney was our server. She was lovely and very informative. Recommended the fried cauliflower appetizer. So good. The sauces were amazing. I ordered the shish kabobs and my husband ordered the lamb shank. Outstanding. Quick and prompt service. Don't miss this place for great Mediterranean cuisine.
google avatar

Anum C.

Yelp
I loved the ambiance in the restaurant. Service was good and food was even better. We got hummus for the table which was great and creamy, for the entree I got chicken kabob which was very flavorful.

Tonya N.

Yelp
My husband and I love Mediterranean food and are always eager to try out new places. We were traveling to a vacation destination and found this spot at lunch time about halfway through our drive. The food was amazing and the service was spot on as well. We started with the hummus. My mouth is watering just typing about it. It was the creamiest, most authentic hummus I have ever tasted and the fresh baked pita served with it was phenomenal. For our main, my husband had the chicken shawarma bowl and I had the beef. They were excellent. I don't do rice, so I got the grilled veggies. I could have just gotten the veggies and dipped them in the hummus and been happy. Even the cappuccino my husband got after dinner was awesome. You can't go wrong dining here! I just hate it that it isn't within driving distance of where I live.
google avatar

Yelp
Highly recommended. You get the experience, ambiance, and flavors of a nice intown restaurant without the paid parking and hassle. It is a welcome restaurant in Suwanee. Service was excellent and the food is just amazing. The puffy and soft pita bread alone is worth a visit. The baba ghanoush and falafel were some of the best I've ever had in my life and I eat a lot of it. This is a great date night or to go with a group. Very accommodating.
google avatar

Valeen W.

Yelp
Raik is a nice addition of restaurant choices in Suwanee. I've been driving/walking pass for a while and the sign has always read "coming soon" but today to my surprise it was open! I was in the mood to order a Greek salad to go but when I walked in I was pleasantly surprised to see Raik was a full fledged beautiful restaurant! The interior was modern and clean and the staff was welcoming. I ordered the salad to go however the wait was really long so if you are in a rush I wouldn't recommend it. The salad was tasty didn't blow me away with flavor but they are new and I will definitely give it another try because the other dishes looked delicious. I'll be back!
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
The food was delicious! The ambience was fun! The customer service could've been better. I had reservations but they sat us at the bar area and not by where the nice seating area was. Also took forever to get the check and a takeout box.

Franklin M.

Yelp
Very nice food and wine. First class service and very nice ambiance. I really had a good dining experiences with familly and was very happy

Dereke L.

Yelp
Great new find. My wife found their happy hour and we came on a Wednesday. Melina, I believe, was the bartender. Very welcoming. She was amazing. Recommended great choices and very knowledgeable. Place was spotless. The drinks were good, but the espresso martini is the star of the show. We got the happy hour flatbread, marg, and fried cheese rolls for happy hour. Cheese rolls are addicting. We also got some calamari, which was stellar and the fries were amazing. It was so good we came back a few days later with our daughter for dinner. To our surprise, there was a live musician which my daughter loved. I got the Chicken kabobs and they were juicy and flavorful, the arayes, extra veggies, and falafel. The manager, I forgot her name, was very nice. She recommended things to do in the area and seemed excited we came in. Awesome staff. They'll be seeing a lot of us. Highly recommend. We'll also be posting a review on CDEATSATLANTA tiktok.

Yelp
Great food, great atmosphere, good service. Easy parking behind the building. The appetizers are amazing. Good selection of single malt.

Julie H.

Yelp
Always delicious!! We usually get the filet or chicken skewers and they are always good! The tahini cookie is the best!
google avatar

Tammi D.

Yelp
Horrible. We wondered why there was barely any patrons there and now I see why. Beyond service, I can't find a redeeming quality to this restaurant. From the non alcoholic beverage that was way too tart, to the entrees, it was a big disappointment. I chose the salmon kabob with lentils and onions and he got the chicken kabob with rice. Why is my salmon in gravy? It may not really be gravy but that's how it tasted and I hate gravy. It ruined the salmon which also tasted burnt and dry. The lentils were a sloppy mess and tasted like mush. The onions didn't even taste like onions. I'm not sure what seasoning was on my boyfriend's chicken but that was also pretty terrible and his meat was very dry too. His rice was dry/ stale (see a pattern here). The server said she could have them remake a plain salmon but I didn't feel like waiting for it and I didn't trust it would taste much better. She said she'd talk to the manager who never came by the table. We were changed for the meal. I really hate going out to dinner and feeling cheated by the quality and the bill.

Saif A.

Yelp
Great service and beautiful interior. Ask for extra green sauce for your entrees. The salad appetizer i got was also wonderful but i cant remember the name- i think it was fatoush
google avatar

Allison N.

Yelp
We all drove 45+ min for this and it didn't disappoint!! From appetizers to desserts, everything tasted amazing. And the atmosphere was so cute. Our server was amazing and nice.

Alyssa B.

Yelp
Always great dinner! Never disappoints. We like the labnah spread and filet kebob. They have the best pita bread and rice around. Delicious!
google avatar

D S.

Yelp
Food was very good. Service was good. They kept checking in on us and making sure we were taken care of. Ambiance is very nice. It's also very nicely located in The Suwanee town center. We got there early for dinner and had a reservation. I would say expect it to get busy during the 6:30-8:30 period.
google avatar

Wesley C.

Yelp
The town of Suwannee has become one of the most thriving towns in Georgia. RAIK Mediterranean restaurant is one of the reasons why!

Yelp
Wow! What a hidden gem! This place offered my husband and I a wonderful date night! Excellent food, service and atmosphere!
google avatar

Yelp
The lamb shank is not as same as my last order. The size and amount of the food and quality changes based on the day you place the order.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was excellent and very authentic- we will definitely enjoy another visit soon! The atmosphere was very nice for a quit date night.

Yelp
Tried it on a Sunday night with the family, came and in around 6:30 and we were seated right away. We ordered some Baba Ganoush for a starter, it was very good, though the pita it came with was not freshly made, it was reheated but it was not hot, so that was a let down. For main meal, we ordered the chicken kabobs which were good and flavorful but the filet mignon kabobs I had were not. Both our meals came with rice, nothing special , we had to use salt to give it some taste. The kids' fries were vey good. The flavor was missing! Someone mentioned in their comments Del Bar or Rumi's, i'm sorry this can't even be in the same sentence with those 2. I understand they are new, hopefully they figure it out and turn it around, people want authentic flavor. Pita corner which is a fast food style Mediterranean restaurant has more flavor than this place. Overall it was very nice sit down place close to the park, but the food was average.
