Railroad Street Bar & Grill

This was our first time trying Railroad Street Bar & Grill and we’re sooo glad we did. This little hidden gem is tucked off the road next to the tracks. Very fitting for its name. As we were leaving a train actually passed which of course is super cool. 🚂 The food is so flavorful and came out piping hot. The Buffalo chicken, grilled cheese was our favorite. There are no words to describe the flavors of the famous tomato soup. You have to try it!! Our waitress was amazing and I hear they always include their newest magnet with your meal. I highly recommend this place and we will definitely be back. Thank you!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First time here- nice place hidden off the main road- Food was delicious, the servers were accommodating and attentive. They have a large variety of grilled cheese sandwiches, as you’ll notice on my photo of the menu. We got the Carolina style grilled cheese, original grilled cheese w/side of tomato soup, lobster fries, meatball parm grilled cheese, and a smash burger. All was delicious- the original grilled cheese was a little too boring- would have been better with a seasoned garlic/herb butter to give some flavor, but we will definitely return!

Out of town guy just passing through and my wife suggested this place. I'm so glad she did. Their "infamous" chicken wings with hot honey was delicious! Their known for their grilled cheeses so my wife and mother in law both ordered one each, which I totally forgot which kind, since they have so many choices. They enjoyed them. I had the burger, which I would give a 7.5/10. Their fries in some kind of tomato jam was very tasty, although I must admit I was a bit hesitant to order them. But I'm glad I did and was not disappointed one bit. We recommend this place.

Excellent food and service! My pulled pork sandwich was absolutely delicious! Will definitely return if I'm in the area. Prices are very reasonable too which is an added bonus

Service was good. Atmosphere is good. Pricing bar food is high. I got a double burger and it was $22. Burger was good tho. Also got deviled eggs. DO NOT ORDER THEM. it’s hummingbird sized eggs with scrap chicken on top where they charge $9 dollars???!!? The pricing is just over the top for a bar. Besides pricing the place is good.

The food was really good and so was the service as well. The food comes quick and is FRESH. I highly recommend the tomato soup (as it's not from a can and super fresh) and their cauliflower strips. Just an over all great experience. If you like beers they have a great selection. Definitely make your way over. (Prices are really reasonable too)

Burgers came with an unhealthy amount of Crispy bacon. highly recommended. A little off the main roads

The food was actually not good at all and it was very disappointing. The water tasted like it had shampoo in it but the waitress was nice.

I was in the area visiting a friend over the weekend and she suggested getting lunch at Railroad. I had forgotten it was saved to my bookmarks so it worked out perfectly that she brought us here. For being a late Saturday afternoon, it was bumpin' and busy. I thought we'd be waiting for a while but we only waited about 5 mins before being seated. Our waitress was Brittany. She was awesome, informing us of the specials as soon as she came over to our table. I started out with a draft Downeast Cider Pomegranate. Really can't go wrong with Downeast. It's a favorite of mine both canned and on tap. For appetizers, we decided on the famous Tomato Jam fries and Hop Bites. The fries were insanely good. The sweetness of the jam combined with the saltiness of the fries made my taste buds go crazy. Highly suggest getting these! The Hop pretzel bites were hot and crispy, similar to those served at the movie theatre. I asked for The Beyond Burger. It doesn't come with cheese so I got a slice of American on it. It was tasty, but I wish the bread was warmed. When it arrived at the table, the bun was cold. Other than that, it was a solid and safe entree choice. We got an R&R magnet right before we paid. I believe they give one to each table. I'd definitely return to Railroad, especially after having those tomato jam fries!

Spent the morning at the Philadelphia Outlets doing back to school shopping and stopped here for lunch. The five of us had a fanatic lunch with great food and friendly service. The Railroad grill has become almost tradition to stop after the outlet mall. At least 2x a year we stop and either have lunch or dinner before heading home. Never a bad meal and portion sizes are just right. Stop on by you'll be glad you did. The retro pinball machines and a plus.

Great ambiance of a cool neighborhood bar with good food and nice staff. We ordered a regular grilled cheese, which had a crispy layer of cheese inside the sandwich. Pretty cool detail, although my friend said it was hard to chew. Still tasty. My son ordered a burger medium rare and the rare part was a bit too rare. We asked that they throw his burger on the grill another minute or two. They insisted on making him a brand new burger, which they did and it came out perfect. Cool move, RR. I ordered the fish sandwich and thought it tasted great. My only suggestion is that they heat the bun. A cold potato bun is stiff and no fun. Fries with tomato jam and black garlic aioli was yum. Good job RR - now we understand why we see your magnet on everyone's car.

Food is always consistent and good! Waitstaff is friendly and don't rush you out. Very accommodating.

Overall just ok. I would go as far to say it's a bit overrated but some of the stuff was good. Did it live up to the hype everyone raves about? No. Our grilled cheese sandwiches were a bit soggy, needed salt. The fries were good and so were our drinks. Nothing spectacular though. Our waitress stopped at our table while we're still eating and said her shift was ending and asked if we wouldn't mind cashing out. Even though the place didn't close for another few hours, We weren't ordering anything else so we said no problem. But after we paid and tipped, still eating, we saw our waitress chit chatting with people at the bar (after her shift ended). She was still there talking to people when we left. Just an odd service experience and just ok food. Probably wouldn't go back.

Always great food and great beer! Great spot to to enjoy as a couple or with family! We love it!

It was a little underwhelming. I was expecting crazy awesome sandwiches but it was ok.

Great little place. Went there after my daughter's sports tournament and we had some starving kids. The food and service didn't disappoint! Atmosphere was great too! One note, they do accept credit cards but there is a surcharge. Pay cash if you can!

Not a bad place. Decent burgers. Known for grilled cheese sandwiches. They r good but not amazing. If u like beer u will probably like it here. Good atmosphere.

Took my wife here for lunch after the outlets. Awesome place! If you are a crab cake fan, "The Worst Crabcake Ever" is everything but! Staff were personable and gave a decent draft list. Kids eat free on Tuesday nights and have an arcade and pinball area.

Hearty comfort food, but a very disappointing beer selection on draft. Oh there are lots of beers to choose from, but not many that you'd want to try. The draft list is crowded with fruit, coffee, jalapeño or habenero flavored beers and lots of stouts or porters. So if you are a fan of fruit in your beer or a stout/porter aficionado you might find something to drink. Or if you are trying to prove your manhood by swigging some super-hopped IPA, you'd likely find one or two on the list (there is a reason that you'll be hard-pressed to find super over-hopped beers in Germany, The Czech Republic or Belgium - all with centuries old and storied beer traditions - because over-hopping a beer makes it undrinkable. The draft list is composed for trying novel craft beers, most bad, so that bros and their dates can have something to snapchat. "Oh my god! This habenero beer is so fringin' hot! LOL." If you like a balanced beer with pleasant proportions of malt and hops, you'll be drinking Yuengling or a Sam Adams. And as nearly every menu item contains cheese, those who are lactose intolerant beware!

The food was delicious we tried multiple different burgers, their wings and some of their fries. Everything was great and despite being very crowded the service was quick and polite. Love the overall feel of the place and the food and service is great.

First time there the waitress sucked she shorted me 2 dollars food wasn't good and the soda wasn't good never going there again wasn't a good first time

This is a go-to spot for me and my husband! Consistently delicious meals, quick service and a relaxing, laid back atmosphere. The mac n' cheese grilled cheese is perfect. Lobster bisque fries are a delicious app to get you started.

I am disappointed. Been coming to the RR for years, - usually happy. Came back last night after 6 months away. Big change. Higher prices, lower quality food. Employee turnover has been high for years (it's a signal something is wrong). Either management gets smart or they'll close in the next year.

good food. good place to watch the game. not a place for family meal in my opinion. - tables were cheepish but for food price was understandable. i enjoyed the chicken fingers very much.

Absolutely incredible food and friendly service. Greasy bar food but so so good. We got the crab cake grilled cheese, pork roll grilled cheese & loaded fries. Lots of draft beer - options for all kinds of beer drinkers (& cider drinkers)!!

I ordered the fish sandwich. I thought it would be fresh fish. It was a small breaded fillet. It was served on a cold bun, like right out of the refrigerator cold. It took forever to get our food and the waiter wouldn't make eye contact with us. The restaurant was very loud. It was anything but a pleasant experience.

There are so many good qualities to enjoy here between service, ambiance, and the menu, which includes at least a dozen different variations on the grilled cheese sandwich theme!

Typically my go-to for wings in the area but the pricing for them has really gotten out of control. Sure, the cost of everything has gone up but I feel there's an extra markup for this section of the menu. It's so bad I ordered boneless and even those were $21 for a questionably 'large' order. We also noticed the crazy amount of single use plastic. Each time we asked for a water refill we were brought a new cup. Even the draft beer came out in a plastic cup. Pliny the Elder in a plastic cup?!?! Come on! So after beer and water we had 6 plastic cups for 2 people, 2 plastic forks and 4 cardboard trays for our food. Can't be cheap and surely not great for Mother Gaia but maybe there's an explanation for the this? All in all, these guys are running on past reputation and there are other excellent brew pubs in the area to frequent.

I normally don't bitch about the pricing for wings knowing all the issues in the past. But this is a joke 9 wings for 10.75 with barely any meat on the bone. What happened with this place?!!!? Feel like I'm eating just skin. They should not be serving these wings for that price. Come on railroad

Great drink selection, lots of options other than just beat. Food is good. Nice outdoor seating.

Met some friends after work for happy hour. There was a crowd when we arrived. I took this as a good sign. It would not be crowded if it were not good, right? The wait for a table was only about 15 minutes which wasn't too long. We ordered drinks from the bar while we waited. There was a decent selection of beers available but I chose the hard cider on tap. The menu is mostly comfort food. The appetizer sample is a good choice. You get a bit of everything. Portion was kind of small for sharing so I would recommend ordering two if you have big eaters. This place is known for amped up grilled cheese. Yes, you read that correctly. This was grilled cheese at the next level. I ordered the Richie Rich which was grilled cheese with steak and cooked onions served on Texas toast. So good and gooey. I ordered the bacon ranch fries as my side. If there is bacon it has to be good. And it was a very good combination. This is a must try eatery for casual dining. I will be visiting again to sample other grilled cheese options.

We had a nice dinner on the patio after shopping at the outlets. Our waitress was very nice. I had the "Da Bowl" which is a salad in a bowl and my wife had the meatball grill cheese.

Service was excellent. The servers are so friendly! Food was good. We had deviled eggs, which were pretty average the cauliflower wedges were tasty and different. Didn't love the sauce that came with them. The chicken bacon ranch grilled cheese was good, very large portion. The fries were crispy. Everything came in paper trays, for covid I guess but seemed flimsy and we weren't given flatware.

I ordered from here today and the hamburger tasted like absolute trash. I gagged when I bit into It and spit it out! I think it was rotten meat. I also ordered pretzels that were so burnt and salty. The food in the past was good but I was very disappointed today and will not order again

Very good restaurant, and good prices! Lots of menu options, and their specialty is grilled cheese! Have been here twice, and was very satisfied both times! Both times it was busy, but we still got seated right away and received our food between 15-20minutes. We got the Hop Bites appetizer, which was soft pretzel pieces with beer cheese, which was good, but am not sure that was worth the price, considering they only gave us 10 so each person only got 5. I got the Mac and cheese grilled cheese, and was very pleased. It was very yummy and they stuffed it with Mac and cheese, and even though it was stuffed, it wasn't messy! The Mac and cheese was very well contained and using just my hands to eat the grilled cheese was fine. It came with homemade chips, which are also very good and had a lot of flavor. My boyfriend got the Taylor Ham Grilled cheese, and he thought it was very good. For two entrees and an appetizer, it was still under $30. Great & quick service!

First time here at The Rail Road! I really liked the atmosphere, the interior has lots of cool things to look at and has an intimate friendly vibe. They do a roaring bar biz, it seems. There is a very cool pinball game room too. The hostess wasn't terribly friendly, but things got better when our server greeted us. Camellia was our server and she was excellent! She was attentive and refilled our waters without being asked. She asked if we had been there before but 2 of us hadn't. She told us all about their beer selections etc. she told us the specials and gave us an overview of the menu. We ordered the rail road "spikes"- aka the cheese sticks- those were really good but I didn't care for the sauce that came with it. It was chunks of tomato and onion. It tasted fine but I love marinara sauce. The appetizer dishes that came with it had seen better days (full of chips). We each ordered the grilled mac and cheese sandwich. It was good and I could feel the fat gravitate right to my body. . . It came with homemade chips and two pickle rounds. I liked the food. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked tasty. The server offered dessert- despite my intentions I was full! She gave us a Rail Road magnet. I've seen tons of these in my area. I'll definitely be back! Nice place, charming & unique.

Interesting concept, bar restaurant offering varieties of grilled cheese sandwiches. Ordered the brisket grilled cheese, crispy bread and melty insides--Highlight of the meal was the tomato jam on the french fries!

We went here both times we've been in town for comedy shows. One of the only restaurants in town that is open after 9pm. We got grilled cheese sandwiches, I got the taylor ham grilled cheese and she got the mac and cheese sandwich, both were delicious. I don't think they have a bad meal on the menu. We also got the hop bites which were little soft pretzel bites with a side of beer cheese, nice appetizer to start off the dinner. The sandwiches came with in-house kettle chips, i'm a big kettle chip guy and thought these were great. We only had to wait 20 min max for our meal, service is great despite being crowded. The prices are reasonable, food is good, staff is very quick and helpful, what more could you ask for? Even the host of the comedy show we were at (shoutout James Mattern @ SoulJoel's) was wearing a Railroad Street shirt. We'll be back next time we're in town for sure.

They are super nice here. Have a large selection of drinks and have fast service. The Mac and cheese was ok on the grilled cheese it was missing a little taste but the wings and fries were on key.

Very cool neighborhood place that had a bunch of pinball machines, yes pinball machines! Some of you may not know what a pinball machine is , google it. I had the sampler and it was pretty good, I really loved the hot wing sauce! The wings are very good and they have a nice selection of sauces. They weren't cooked quite the way I like as the skin was a little soft and fatty but they were very good. Fries good, buffalo shrimp good and chicken fingers what you expect, solid bar food . It is close to the outlets and I will be back to try a burger! Second visit was awesome, had The hottest wings they offer , they were really hot but not over the top.They were the "you've got to be kidding me" flavor and they were delicious. They weren't so hot that you couldn't eat them , but the heat sneaks up on you and when it hits it keeps hitting! Third visit and I ordered the "get railed " burger, it was awesome. Added a side of St. Lucifer sauce which made it incredible. Top quality meat made a great burger.

Forever our grilled cheese and good company destination. We love the Railroad, the freshness of all of their delicacies, the beer variety, and the staff! They make you feel like family. Keep on keeping on RR!!!

Walked in at 1:45pm and the place was practically empty. There were 4 people ahead of us that wanted to sit outside. For some reason they were having trouble being seated. Meanwhile, just myself and my daughter were standing there being ignored for 10 minutes. We weren't even asked where we wanted to sit (inside where there were a ton of empty tables). We have visited this place so many times, but the food isn't that great to be ignored, especially since we could see that the game room had now been converted into a table area. We turned around and left. Don't think myself, friends and my family will be back!

I sadly give railroad a 3 because I used to go every day when they had the Claude sandwich and had the old bartender crew. But now the atmosphere is weird, prices skyrocketed beyond inflation pricing, and the food worse than ever. Apparently lettuce, tomatoes, and pickle are add ons for a burger. Absolutely absurd.
