Other than that, the place is elegant, and serves delicious Chinese food that is made with fresh ingredients. Not cheap for the type of food it is but very worth it! The sweet and sour chicken, one of the specials of the day when we went was outstanding: crunchy, but juicy, chunks of pineapple. Probably the best dish we tried that night! The drinks were reasonably priced and on the spot too! The mai tai was good and the espresso martini was really good. Service was friendly, prompt and courteous.

Rainbow Palace – A True Fine-Dining Chinese Classic Rainbow Palace is a true gem of fine-dining Chinese cuisine located on East Oakland Park Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. This restaurant has been around for roughly 35–40 years, and it shows in all the right ways — elegance, consistency, and attention to detail. I’ve been meaning to dine here for at least 15 years, but timing was never right. They are open for dinner only — no lunch, no happy hour — which already sets the tone that this is a serious dining experience. When you walk in, you immediately notice the refined atmosphere: a beautiful bar area, a private dining room, and one of the most elegant Chinese dining rooms I’ve ever seen. Now, the food. We started with the Shrimp and Lobster Dumplings — hand-kneaded dough shells filled with minced shrimp and lobster, pan-fried on one side and served with a honey mustard soy sauce. Outstanding. Fresh, perfectly cooked, and easily among the best dumplings I’ve had. We ordered them per order and they disappeared fast. There were four of us, and we ordered four main dishes to share. One standout was the Roast Duck with Portabella Mushrooms and Asparagus — thinly sliced roast duck sautéed in a nine-spice Asian sauce with fresh portabella mushrooms and asparagus. Rich, tender, and beautifully balanced. We also had the Chef’s Lo Mein, featuring sliced chicken, honey-roasted pork, and shrimp tossed with soft angel-hair lo mein noodles and fresh garden vegetables, seasoned with aged soy sauce. A classic done exactly right. Another highlight was a large shrimp entrée, featuring jumbo shrimp cooked perfectly — firm, flavorful, and clearly high-quality. Not your average shrimp dish; refined rather than heavy. Every dish came out hot, fresh, and plated with care. The flavors were balanced, the ingredients were top-tier, and nothing felt rushed or over-sauced. Rainbow Palace is not casual Chinese food — it’s classic, upscale, old-school fine dining done right. If you appreciate elegant surroundings, excellent service, and thoughtfully prepared dishes, this place absolutely deserves a visit

mmmm those spring rolls and lobster dumplings really hit the spot 🙂‍↕️ of course my boo paired the veggie soup with a dirty martini.. he was dealing with a throat/nose/ear issue and that bowl of spicy mustard really helped clear him up. we will def be back to try the crispy steak.. seriously! we almost stole a piece from the table next to us because it looked so good! ty and xoxo

Classic Chinese cuisine in an excellent atmosphere with over the top Service, Great bar, wine list, can't say enough. Restaurant has been in the same location for around 30 years. The amount of Service Awards on the wall is staggering. I must try if you are in the mood for a over the top Chinese dinner served in a fine dining atmosphere.

Food was above my expectations. The flavors and freshness were so satisfying. Also loved the vintage decor of the restaurant, made me feel like I was dining in the 80s. Also the coconut cream pie for dessert was so airy and just enough sweetness. And don’t let me forget to mention the wait staff is on point. Didn’t have to ask for one refill even on water. Very attentive and made great recommendations. Will be back!!

The restaurant is an old Ft Lauderdale relic. I love these restaurants that withstand time. My overall review is that the food was good, but I am not convinced that it was worth the hefty price. We made reservations, a week in advance but still got seated in the other room. We were told the main dining room wasn’t available when we got there. The service as adequate, except that he forgot to serve the appetizer first so we ended up eating the appetizer with the main meal. The portions are not large and we ate everything with no leftovers. Overall it was good.

Had high expectations. Mediocre overall. Pineapple chicken was good but portion was small for the price. Calamari was mostly batter, though the flavor was decent. I’ve had better at local spots. Would not recommend .

This restaurant is bustling almost every hour from the moment it opens, so I highly recommend making a reservation. Every dish we tried was delicious, but the table’s favorites were the Chicken Gwin Jin, Chef’s Lo Mein, New York Style Orange Beef, and the Key Lime Pie. The service was excellent—our servers were friendly and attentive throughout the meal. I would definitely return!

This is a 5 star operation - the service is outstanding I mean true professionals! White table cloths, clean and when the entrees come out (they're all huge and shareable) the waiter will divide it on a plate for you if you'd like. I didn't understand the prices until the food came out. The shrimp and scallops were HUGE. I mean the size of a crab cake almost. The quality and freshness of the seafood makes this place next level. The portions are also large and shareable -- for 2 ppl we had leftovers. I fell in love with the Chinese mustard sauce they put on the table. Added the perfect touch of spice / heat. They have a full bar but they made me a nice grapefruit cocktail I enjoyed.

Been wanting to check out Rainbow Palace for years, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. It's an upscale Chinese restaurant with excellent food and beautiful Art Deco decor, which I loved. The restaurant was packed and lively, but not so loud that it interrupted conversation. We started with the wonton soup and shrimp and lobster dumplings. The broth was incredibly flavorful and the wontons were perfectly tender. The dumplings were outstanding packed with lobster flavor and the wasabi-infused dipping sauce was so good we ended up using it on our entrees as well. For mains, we split the orange beef, Hunan chicken, and lo mein. The Hunan chicken was crispy yet tender, and the orange beef was full of flavor without being overly sweet. The lo mein uses thin noodles, which made it especially delicious. Service was exceptional and very attentive throughout the meal. Honestly, it's hard to pick a favorite dish because everything was so good. Ate the leftovers for lunch and it was still so good! Haha! Can't wait to come back

One here with the family. Inside was ordinately designed. Beautiful murals, and nice plates. Service was solid, very attentive to the tables needs. Sesame, tasted very fresh and light for a dish in this style. Price was a little high for the quantity that I received, but thought that the experience was solid overall

Have been eating here for 30 + years Oakland park blvd and Bayview Ft. Lauderdale. Best Chinese food this side of Chinatown in any city. The shrimp and lobster dumplings wow stuffed with lobster, pork , chicken And steak dumplings The soups are great from Won ton to more exotic soups. Large menu. With so many wonderful dishes to choose from all good. It's hard. I love their scezuan. Shrimp and the lobster and shrimp The lo mein is even special. You won't be disappointed here. Expensive ENJOY

Talk about elevated Chinese food! We came with another two couples and ordered everything to share. We had steak, fried rice, shrimp and many more dishes. I love them all. Drinks were amazing, as well as the wine. Service was superb as well. Decor is quite sophisticated and lux. Parking is a bit of a pain, but it the area, not just this establishment. I would absolutely come back and recommend.

I have a good friend who recommended this restaurant saying it was the best Chinese food in Florida. I was looking forward to it. I sat down. My first course was duck soup. Right away I knew I was in trouble. The soup was horrible. It came with two small pieces of duck that taste metallic. They loaded it up with a bunch of cheap noodles. It was nothing with nothing. Unfortunately We had already ordered several more dishes, including lobster shrimp dumplings, seafood fried rice that seemed like it was packaged rice with frozen warmed up vegetables. We had an order of spring rolls . It came with 2 small spring rolls Which really seems like they were frozen from a box and warmed up in an air fryer. There after we shared calamari, which was OK. It was nothing really it was just a lot of poor quality food. I am totally disappointed. This place is the worst Chinese food for a huge amount of money stay far away from the rainbow palace it will disappoint you and make you go broke horrible experience.

Rainbow Palace has amazing service--even with six very indecisive women at our table! We took a while to figure out what we wanted, but the staff was incredibly patient and welcoming the entire time. The portions are huge, which was a nice surprise. I ordered the Hunan Country Chicken, and it had the kick I was looking for! I ended up taking half of it home and had enough for lunch/dinner the next day. If you're planning to visit, I highly recommend making a reservation, especially if you want to go for Chinese New Year--this place fills up fast! Great food, great service, and a fantastic experience!

Rainbow palace is located in a landmark building. The food is good but the service is exceptional. Our server went above and beyond. We restaurant decorations and architecture is art deco, it feels like you are traveling back in time.

Outrageous sauces make everything taste terrific . I've been going there for years . Best in Florida.

Fantastic birthday dinner for 8. Service was spot on, and food was top notch. Not cheap, but well worth the price. Highly recommend the crispy duck and the whole yellowtail snapper (tonight's special). The dumplings and spring rolls to start were also terrific. All in all a perfect evening.

Have been a few times and we have had a great experience. Overall I will say it's on the higher side on cost and food doesn't match the price tag. It's an easy $120 dinner without drinks. I'm not sure it's worth coming back

So good. Fancy Chinese restaurant. Portions are meant to share. I had orange beef with white rice, and chefs lo mein. Both were fantastic. Only downside it is fairly expensive, but the quality and portion sizes are really good.

The food was absolutely delicious -- fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Every dish had the right balance of taste and texture, from the crispy spring rolls to the tender stir-fry and savory fried rice. The portions were generous, the service was quick and friendly, and everything came out hot and full of flavor. You can really tell the chefs care about quality and authenticity. Definitely one of the best Chinese food experiences I've had -- I'll be coming back again soon!

Go straight here if you crave authentic Chinese Food! Honestly, this is the only spot for amazing authentic Chinese food in Broward, Palm Beach and Miami. Rainbow palace is located in an assuming strip mall with several local restaurants - actually I want to check those out soon too! You'll realize that parking can but distant as it is just one long row of spots. The menu is extensive, featuring a variety of northern and southern Chinese dishes...pork, chicken, beef,duck and vegetarian options are all available. The staff at the door is very friendly. After entering you'll see a bar to your right, a smaller dining room straight ahead and the main dining room to the left. All tables are covered in white table cloth and there is a lovely wine display area for great instagram photos! We had two waiters servicing our table. They could not have been more different so the blend of them was perfect. One was overly friendly - commenting on our outfits and over sharing about his ex girlfriend. The other - stressed out and motioning us to hurry things along. We loved them both One of our appetizers was the vegetable soup - honestly, it was kind of bland but we drank it all! We also had the prawns and they were delightful. The main course included vegetable lo main, schezuan shrimp, chicken in white wine sauce, hunan chicken bok choy, and vegetable fried rice. For three people that was more than enough! All were absolutely divine. If you like pepper, you'll need to ask for some on the side. The prices were very reasonable for such great food. But, if you are comparing this to an ordinary local Chinese restaurant you'd say it was pricey. The average main courses run between $35 and $45 on average. If I had to share a downside, it would be that the food didn't come out piping hot. It was "very warm". As you can see nothing so severe as to take away my five star rating!! Book ahead as they are always full. This is a great local spot that we will return to!

Best Chinese in S. Florida. It's a bit fancy, and you'll want to make sure you have a reservation most nights. Everything on the menu is amazing, but I can't go and not order the crispy steak. Life is better with their crispy steak in it. It's kind of family style. They trying out the dishes on a cart and do all the positioning/serving for everyone right there at the table. I'll be sure to take a picture next time I'm there and add to this review.

Overall, when considering the ambiance, the superb service, and the quality of the food, my experience at Rainbow Palace is close to excellent. However, I cannot give this restaurant five stars because the menu is restricted and tells heavily on pork, shrimp, and vegetarian offerings The beef selections are minimal and very expensive while the soup offerings begin and end with wonton. My wife and I had a wonderful night out. The food was delicious. And yet, I'm feeling resentful because I was settling for the food that I didn't want less than anything else on the menu so that I wouldn't spoil the evening. And I had to pay for that experience. Lesson learned... trust other's advice but verify for yourself.

The BEST Chinese food I've ever had! The servers split the dishes for everyone at the table so you can try a little bit of everything. You can definitely tell how good the food quality is. Also such a nice restaurant, kinda fancy!!

I have been hearing this is one of the best places for Chinese food in South Florida for years, but I was pretty disappointed. It is also one of the most expensive Chinese restaurants in South Florida. The restaurant is definitely fancier than most Chinese restaurants. The service was pretty slow and the food was just okay. The Shrimp and Lobster Dumplings and the Roast Duck with Portabella Mushrooms and Asparagus were both pretty good. The Shrimp Gwin Jin was awful -- the shrimp were way too fried (too much breading) and the sauce was overly sweet; for $45, this was upsetting. The Vegetable Lo Mein was okay -- the dish lacked flavor and the noodles were very thin.

5 stars! Run don't walk here, but first make a reservation! We were thoroughly impressed with Rainbow Palace. Seeing as how there aren't many sit down Chinese restaurants in the area, we were looking forward to coming. We followed Yelpers' advice and made reservations. Good thing we did because the place was packed to the brim including the bar. Service is exemplary and very old fashioned glamour. The waiters are all in suits, food is brought to the table on carts and plate ware and cutlery are rotated out. Very upscale. We had the egg rolls and lobster wontons for appetizers. The trifecta of sauces that were served were all delicious. Be mindful of the mustard looking one, it's super spicy. For dinner, we had the orange beef and special fried rice. The best darn beef I've ever had. We took some home for leftovers the next day and gobbled it right up. For dessert, we had the strawberry shortcake which was the sweetest ending to our night. It's a little pricey so we can't put it on the rotation, but we'll definitely be coming back when we're feeling for something special.

Great spot! I wasn't expecting to find such a nice restaurant inside, but I was pleasantly surprised. Rainbow Palace is high-end Chinese food. The service was outstanding, and my husband and I both enjoyed all of our dishes. We went very early on a Saturday night, but I'd you go during peak dinner hours, you will definitely need a reservation during season. This place fills up fast!

the Rainbow Palace is not your average chinese restaurant. serving up family style portions, this spot is hands down the best place for that asian craving. the more people you come with the better because you will need to share, or else be rolled out! although the decor was cute, like a tea parlor or something, and our waiter was great, the food was just so fresh, flavorful, and hot, its hard for anything else to be the spotlight. i cant wait to come back!

5 star ambience, 4-star food, 3-star service. I liked but did not love this very classy Chinese restaurant in the Bayview neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale. It's my friend Fred's favorite place, so we took him there for his birthday. The best part is definitely the ambience. From the outside it looks like a nondescript first floor of a 1960s/1970s midrise office building, but inside it's all soft mood lighting, beautiful screens, luxe surfaces, high-end china and one of the coolest collections of porcelain teapots that I've seen. The general neighborhood of Bayview/Coral Ridge is one of the ritziest in Fort Lauderdale. Many of the customers show up in dresses or sports coats. Food was a slightly mixed bag. We shared appetizers of steamed dumplings and mixed eggplants/mushrooms. Both were fine but not stellar. Sweet and sour chicken was dressed up a bit with pineapple, but again pretty well par for the course, not stellar. The food was good but should have been great, since the pricing here is aggressively high. My general impression was that the prices were raised to the level the upscale neighborhood would support, coupled with low competition. Service had some hiccups. Upon arrival, there's a scrum of Uber Eats drivers, plus folks awaiting their personal takeout orders in the same small vestibule as the reservation check-in desk. Logistically, and for first impressions, it would be wise to have pick-ups at the bar (so to speak : ) Table service was also a little rocky. There was a duo that worked in tandem. After a good start, both seemed to disappear periodically. When one would appear there seemed to be a rush to get everything done by just that one person. It got progressively worse and by the end of the meal we had to just go ask the manager for the check after no response to repeated waves. At this price point (roughly twice a P F Chang price and 4X an equally swanky Chinese place in NY Chinatown), the food and service should be roughly 2x and 4x better, but was not. Perhaps the best example of the food/value mismatch was the birthday cake. For a range of roughly $30-60, you'd expect a large cake with some involved decoration...it gets you a 6-8 inch diameter cake that resembles the $4 Publix version.

I had dinner this evening at rainbow palace . We started with 2 appetizers. 1 was the eggplant and portobello 1- was a scallop dish both 10 out of 10. . Then on to the entree . Sizzling steak and a shrimp entree both taste treats . Service excellent . Ambiance lovely. I cannot wait to go back . On the down side . A little pricey but well worth it . The best Chinese food I have had outside of Hong Kong

We wanted Chinese food and happened to be in this area. The reviews were really good and thus, we decided to try it. The food didn't live up to the expectations. It was basically the same food that you can get anywhere. We ordered a few chicken dishes, wonton and mixed soup, and beef teriyaki. The food was ok. It just wasn't as good as we were expecting. I know that sometimes with Chinese food that the food is much better if you eat it in the restaurant. We took it home and maybe that was a factor. Would I eat here again? Maybe. I just wasn't blown away. It was average.

Not your typical Chinese food, but wow, It's a treat! Think your favorite restaurant in China town and then pull out the red carpet, because it takes those dishes and makes them into a fine dining experience. Atmosphere and food were delicious; this is a date night spot.

Over the years I haven't gone to rainbow palace very often. It is rather expensive for Chinese food, so it's always been a high-quality experience. Tonight, two friends and I went to dinner, and I have to say, it was really really good. The service in particular was excellent and thoughtful. We had House wonton soup which was very nice. The pieces of roast pork were particularly flavorful, and the wontons packed with shrimp and flavor, as were the shrimp and lobster dumplings. We shared the orange beef and roast duck with oyster mushrooms and asparagus, both of which were really excellent. The bok choy was a nice light steamed vegetable but rounded out the plate. The food was several levels better than any other Chinese restaurant in Fort Lauderdale

Had the best meal in a long time here every dish is magic service was phenomenal drinks were generous. Can't say more good things about this place. Not the lowest price range but great value

Growing up in Ft. Lauderdale, Rainbow Palace was a place that I always wanted to visit but never did. Boy was I missing out. You will need reservations...repeat "I need to make reservations" and ask to be seated in Woody's section (he is wonderful). They have an extensive wine list and full bar, definitely treat yourself to the smoked old fashioned- I did. The pork fried rice and mushroom duo was fantastic and portions are large. The soy sauce is made in-house as well as the desserts. We tried the "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane Strawberry Shortcake", Coconut Cream Pie, and a chocolate cake that were all fantastic. They will be open on Christmas Day, seatings are for 1.5 hours and you will need reservations. We will definitely be back.

Went with some friends for dinner and we were delighted with the meal. I made Open Table reservations for 5:30pm on a Saturday night, but surprisingly, the front door was locked at 5:06pm. One of my friends went to the back and the cooks, told him he could walk in from the kitchen...which he did...LOL. The rest of us got there a few minutes later and the door was open by then. The waiter (who did not introduce himself) told us about some of the daily specials (no price given to any of the specials). We decided to order from the main menu. Here's my review: - Wonton Soup. Delightful and light. Clear broth with nice wontons. - Chicken Gwin Jin. Sliced breast of chicken grilled in a wok, sauteed in rice wine, garlic, and Teriyaki Soy Sauce to create a savory smoky flavor. It was my favorite dish of the entire table, light, tender, delicious. - Sweet and Sour Chicken. Large chunks of white meat chicken, deep fried and then tossed in a sweet and sour sauce. Good. - Chefs Spicy Fried Rice. Diced honey roasted pork, sliced chicken, and shrimp sauteed with diced fresh garden vegetables, Jasmine rice, seasoned with curry. Nice and spicy. Light to the bite. Good fried rice. - Bok Choy in Garlic Sauce. Fresh vegetables sauteed with garlic, scallions and ginger in a soy - New York Style Orange Beef. Marinated flank steak twice cooked to a wonderful taste of orange and mildly hot spices. Crispy on the outside, yet tastefully tender, with a touch of Grand Marnier. A good dish. Overall the meal was delicious. You can tell there's a good chef in the back working on the flavors...but the price does seem a bit steep for the amount of food you get. Still it was a nice dinner with great flavors.

Very delicious. Everything from the pork fried rice, to the crispy steak, duck and green beans. Everything is delicious. We left full and satisfied. The place is very classy for all ages. It's very popular so make sure you look at the menu before you eat here.

Upscale & well run. First visit & won't be our last. Friendly greeting like we were really welcomed. Immediately felt good in the surroundings, clean, beautifully set tables, etc. Service was excellent & friendly also, as if we had been coming forever. Large menu selections, something for everyone. The food was delicious. Four of us were very happy & thought everything was tasty with generous portions.

This place has been around for a long time I'm Ft Lauderdale and I'm so upset that it took me so long to come here. What an amazing dinner! The food is so delicious with great flavors on every dish we had/shared. For appetizers we had the Szechuan Wontons and the Lobster & Shrimp dumplings which were fantastic. The dumplings came with a very flavorful dipping sauce with a little kick. For entrees we all shared the following; Crispy Steak (Amazing), Chefs Fried Rice, Mushroom Duo (tasted delish), Chefs Lo Mein, and the Shrimp Gwin Jin which was fantastic as well. The service was exceptional and I can't wait to come back SOON!

Rainbow Palace is a nice looking restaurant and I suppose it's one of the most upscale Chinese Restaurants in South Florida. Service is outstanding without being the least bit haughty and that's why I really like the restaurant. But .... there are some negatives; The menu is limited and more importantly not everything was up to the standard of the dining room and the high level of service. A generous serving of Vegetable Lo Mein dish was actually a little sweet and while not bad was really forgettable. I'm not sure why angel hair noodles are used in place of the broader, thicker more standard noodles but I felt it lessened the dish. The Chicken with White Wine Lemon Sauce was very good and while the sauce was a little too mild and lacked complexity, the quality of the excellent ingredients set it apart from other restaurants. This was simple and very satisfying. A Vegetable Main Dish, though basic and straight forward was fine. I like Rainbow Palace and have gone before and I suppose we ordered items that lowered the experience however I will certainly go again .... and with careful ordering it's possible to have a very good dinner.
