"There’s something special about a home-grown tomato. But what about 320 home-grown varieties of tomatoes? That’s the idea behind Rainbow Tomatoes Garden, a small farm stand located in rural southeastern Pennsylvania. The sheer range of shapes, sizes, and colors of the juicy fruit makes this place worth a stop. Owner, grower, and former chef Dan Waber became interested in agriculture, and after he and his wife Jenny bought a property with a small farm, the idea for the tomato haven was born. There are more than 10,000 tomato cultivars, and Waber selected 320 varieties to grow (he based his decisions largely on flavor). Offerings include Maiden’s Fire, Charlie Chaplin, Green Zebra, Dancing with Smurfs, Long Tall Sally, Brad’s Atomic Grape, and Kaleidoscopic Jewel. Each of these varieties has a story behind it, and Waber revels in conversations about them with customers. Perhaps Waber described the wide variety best when he told the Philadelphia Inquirer, “We have tomatoes that are white when ripe, green when ripe, black when ripe, brown when ripe, yellow when ripe, striped on the outside, multicolored on the inside, tomatoes that are round, oblong, pear-shaped, dumpling-shaped, impossible-to-describe shaped, as small as a currant, and larger than a 16-inch softball. And in every possible combination of these features. We have tomatoes like you’ve never seen before that taste better than any tomato you’ve ever eaten.” The garden is completely chemical- and plastic-free; for example, plants are secured with bamboo and twine. So, in addition to tomato-lovers, organic gardeners (or those interested in it) may also find Rainbow Tomatoes a worthwhile place to stop and chat with the owners about their process. Know Before You Go It's important to remember that this is a seasonal business. Tomato season usually begins in July and daily stock is available until it's gone, so always check for hours and product availability before making a significant drive." - donnatalarico

Fantastic store. Everything was packed very meticulously and securely. You can tell that the people working here care about their customers and provide the highest quality service. The ordering process was simple and the shipping was very quick, the order arrived two days early! I will definitely be ordering with them again!

Google
Incredible experience from start to finish at Rainbow Tomatoes Garden! Beyond impressed by the selection available, the details involved, and the care put in by the team - thank you so much! We'll definitely be ordering again soon, and I recommend you do the same, dear reader. Places like these are hard to find, and the sheer transparency they offer regarding shipping prices and their pure desire to do right by their customers is refreshing and worthy of support. One of my favorite additions was the stack of recipes cards they threw in with all of our tins - it was so cool to see some of the possibilities! Thank you RTG 🌈🍅🐟❣️

I might be rushing this review, but, I have had such a nice time picking out my first tins with Dan's help that I had to gush. So fun! Dan is a great resource and the selection is unequaled. I received my first box and I really appreciate the personal packing and all of the recipes and other inserts. Now, I just have start eating...

I wish more businesses would adopt RTG’s model. Great customer service. Really fast shipping and a quality product. I just made my first purchase and everything went so smoothly. FYI, I bought a special treat for me which were some hard to find sardines. I cannot wait to try them. Thanks and I’ll be back for more purchases. I am so glad I found this store. Thank you

Google
I gave them money and told them to give me weird cans of seafood and they delivered. Above and beyond from that, they gave me a lot of little recipes for better ways to enjoy what I ordered. The suggestions were always good. If they said a tin was good with crusty bread, it was good with crusty bread. If they said the oil in the can was worth cooking with they meant it - it was. On top of that, they have a nice little camera on their website that shows them wrapping orders for customers so that you too can get excited while you watch and wait for your order. They are very personable.

Checking out one of the tins I just ordered. Porto-Muiños Razor Clams with Sea Spaghetti and Garlic - in the southwest you can see the remnants of the garlic clove it came with. Get a piece of the spaghetti and a bit of the clove with a clam into a mouthful, it's brilliant. This is just one of many canned fish with interesting accoutrements you can find on RTG. They show serving suggestions but I just ate it outta the can with a tallboy. Looking forward to sweating out their in-house brand of deenz in habanero purée. Fun site, I just started filtering by species to fill my box out. Dive in, if you've gone as far as ordering some fancier deenz you'll probably enjoy most of the critters they have on offer. Grab a bottle of Espinaler Sauce if you don't have one, goes on many things outside of the fish. Prices seem decent - this appears an effective way of getting a variety of product under one shipping label.

What a wonderful little company to do business with. You can tell there’s passion behind every step- from ordering from the well designed website with tons of information, to receiving your well packaged box at your doorstep. I asked for a sampler pack for someone really just getting into the world of tinned fish and they did not disappoint. They even gave me some pointers on how better to enjoy the products I received. Thanks for the great experience and for all the helpful tips. Will be back once I munch through all of these delectable treats! -Matt

Amazing selection of quality fish. What blew me away was the care in the packaging - including, serving suggestions, recipes, chopsticks(!) and biodegradable packing materials. These people care.

Yelp
A wide variety of canned fish to choose from. Shipping was quick and easy. This will be my go to place for all my canned fish in the future.

Yelp
Specialty garden that has more than 100 Heirloom Tomatoes. There is a small parking lot and most people come here as soon as it opens. We got here at around 1 and they had about 25% of tomatoes left compared to when they opened this AM. They also sell tinned fish, some bakes goods and coffee as well as Books and gifts. It's $5 per lb and you can mix and match the tomatoes. There are different signs to tell you what kind the tomatoes are and some where they don't know but you can try anything you want. Dave provided a lot of information on how they grow the tomatoes and there are no chemicals in their process.

Robert P.

Yelp
Worth the drive. $5 lb mix and match any of the 300 plus varieties. The owner had me try a few different types. They look amazing. It truly is a rainbow of tomatoes. I'm sure there is something for everyone. They do beautiful baked goods and the have a tin fish store that has no comparison. Upper Montco in the middle of no where.

Matt L.

Yelp
This Place is amazing. Dan is awesome. Theyve got the best variety of tinned fish I've seen anywhere. My order was meticulously packed and shipped with care. Personal touches with recommendations on how to enjoy each tin were great.

Amy R.

Yelp
Three separate incredible claims to fame for RTG: world's largest retail selection of tinned fish, 300+ varieties of tomatoes, AND a farm and business run entirely without plastic. Go early for tomatoes during the season, because they sell out. Even if you miss the 'maters, it's still worth the visit for the rest of the farmstand (drinks, baked goods, books, conservas, condiments, and all kind of other goodies). Just go. Or order online. The world is a better place because Dan & family are in it.

Deborah H.

Yelp
This is the best source for purchasing tinned fish. I can't say enough good things. Great selection! Terrific website design! Personal client attention! You will love everything about your experience with this small business.

Yelp
Ordered Conservas online -- rapid shipping, great communication, and really wonderful selection.
