"Since the Rainforest Cafe made its debut at the Mall of America, it’s been Minnesota’s zaniest tropical escape for nearly three decades and a crowning jewel in what may be America’s most iconic theme restaurant chain." - Justine Jones

The Rainforest Café was a fun, themed experience—definitely something kids would enjoy. Every 18 minutes or so, the “jungle” comes alive with sounds and effects, which keeps things interesting. As for the food, everything was pretty standard. Nothing really stood out, but it was adequate for what it was. The nacho cheese and chips were just okay, and most of the meals felt pretty average. The standout was definitely the cheesecake—super tasty! The Key Lime pie, on the other hand, was just alright. Service was fine—nothing exceptional but nothing bad either. Orders came out fairly quickly, and the staff was polite. Overall, it’s a fun place to say you’ve been to, especially for the atmosphere, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

Food was wonderful, expect to pay high prices though. Tried the chicken bruschetta and fish tacos. Got a frog cup with a icee drink, $11 and you keep the cup. Service was slow. Our toddler wasn’t a fan of the “rain storms” which included strobe/flashing lights and loud thunder. The decor is awesome as are the animatronics. Overall we would return!

Food was good, and I enjoyed "the taste of the islands." It didn't have much spice. The pineapple salsa and seasoned vegetables were mixed together so that was weird. The food came very quick. It wasn't busy at 11a, but by noon had a lot of people. The Bloody Mary was ok, but I wouldn't get it again. They use their own bloody mix and you get three olives. It's pretty dark and the animals moving and occasional thunder and flashing lights scared the 1-4 year olds, but not so much they were crying or we had to leave. The server was friendly, told jokes, and was quick.

Google
A rainforest themed restaurant who has a thunderstorm every 30 minutes. The restaurant has rainforest animals that move when the thunderstorm occurs. The service was prompt and polite. The mixed drinks were poured strong, the food was delicious and the food portions were large!

Seated immediately with no wait on a Wednesday afternoon. Had normal wait times between ordering and receiving. Good food selections with big portions. I just personally didn’t like the taste, needed more spice for me, and it was overpriced.

I have not been to a Rainforest Cafe since I was a kid! They all closed down in our area. So getting the chance to come back and now also show my children, was so so fulfilling and nostalgic. The staff was so kind. The atmosphere is just as amazing as I remember it! The food is exactly what was expected. You are paying for the experience and to me, the food is just a nice touch. My kids adored it and loved it just as much as I did as a kid and now do as an adult. We absolutely will be back

All 5’s all around. Couldn’t have had a better time. Thunderstorms, check. Fantastic service, yes. and whoever is on that grill… 🙌🔥!! Perfect steak the way I wanted it!! Damn the man, save the Rainforest Cafe!

Google
This place is decked out in theme. My kids loved it, the food was great, the bourbon BBQ salmon was probably some of the best salmon just have ever had. The kids loved all the "live" animals thruout the jungle and enjoyed the "storms". Would have given 5 stars but our server was not the best and made our visit just a bit awkward.

Yelp
The food was excellent. The service was good, waitress named Sarah C and the photographer. Crystal were excellent very friendly. Crystal explained everything above and beyond about the pictures we got. Our Italian family was here from Italy and they loved it. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you have any out of town or out of the country guest.

Yelp
If you know me, you know I love a good rainforest cafe. The perfect ambiance to a restaurant that I think most eateries need. Our waitress was comical and helpful and loved the fun menu. Here's what I ordered- Rasta Pasta

Yelp
I mean...it's the memories for me. You go to Rainforest Cafe to either entertain your kids or reminisce on the good old days when your parents went to entertain you! I went with a friend on a random Thursday evening and the ambiance was exactly as expected. That said, I had forgotten about the quality of the food, the number of birthday parties on any given evening, and had never tried an alcoholic drink... Bless my parents that's what I'll say! The pasta was mediocre and expensive and the drinks were pretty undrinkable...but we got what we wanted with the thunderstorms and the animatronics haha!

Yelp
My friends and I had a fantastic time at Rainforest Cafe. We hadn't been here in years and wanted to revisit. The staff was great and you really go for the experience of being at Rainforest Cafe. While the food is on the more expensive side, we found the portion sizes to be great and we expected to spend a bit more than usual. They had a lot of fun drinks but I couldn't pass up an icee in a frog cup, iconic. I got the coconut shrimp, delicious, and we split the app sampler which was good and perfect for 4 of us to split. It's a fun experience and a fun way to treat yourself! The rain storm happens every 15 or 20 minutes and there is so much to look at throughout the restaurant. There is something on their menu for everyone and we saw a few people celebrating birthdays which looks fun!

Kate K.

Yelp
My kids love coming here each year. Personally I don't love the food, but for $8-9 kids meals, it can't be beat to take the kids out and see the wonder in their eyes. I do think the kids quesadilla and the real chicken tenders are actually really good. The place is always busy and servers are overbooked with tables, so don't go for the service. The ambiance is worth every penny though! There are fake storms every 15 minutes or so and they love that. If you have a birthday, they all come out clapping and singing, which is fun for the kids, too. You can even get a free little birthday cake dessert.

Rachel W.

Yelp
I always wanted to go here as a kid. There's animatronics that move and swing, and a minute of a simulated rainforest (without the rain). Even as an adult it was fun! The bruschetta was delicious. The drinks were so good too, with just enough alcohol and you could take a glass home. The servers were nice. We sat at the bar for immediate seating and were happy with our experience.

Baylee B.

Yelp
SO FUN! even as adults it brought back so many memories: the storm, the moving animals, and fun drink cups. Would definitely recommend for a birthday! The drinks were delicious, the food was above average, and the volcano cake is so fun!

Yelp
I've been here twice now. The first time we went just for drinks. We were sat in the main room so we got to somewhat enjoy the full experience. The second time (more recently) is where my rating comes from. My cousin wanted to come here for his birthday and was left to pretty much put the reservation in. He was expecting about 20 people. The details of how this worked did not unfold until we all got there and it was a complete mess. My cousin picked Rainforest cafe because he loves animals and wanted the full experience, he had never been here before. When we arrived they said they couldn't seat us until all 20 people were here because they are preparing the food and will bring it out when we are all there. I was wondering well how do they know what we want to eat? Also at this point some people backed out and we were no longer expecting a full 20 and my cousin told them it would be around 15 of us and we were only short like 3 people running a bit late. They were pretty strict on getting a full 20 but it was to the point we were like do you want to make money or no? So they finally sat us down, in the patio part (like in the mall). I could tell it wasn't the experience my cousin was expecting. When we sat they did start bring out some random apps and they said they were figuring out how to print the menus. So they weren't prepared either. The menu had 4 options, came with a drink, salad & "dessert". We soon found out that it wasn't just a reservation but I guess because the amount of people they made him reserve a banquet, in which the menu was limited so it could be made it batches. There was no option to order off the main menu or even drinks. Even though things were planned and limited the staff made it seem chaotic. They assumed half of the party was kids and served a ton of kid meal options - family style (pizza, fries, chicken strips, etc.) there was only 1 child. The food wasn't great. I got the Rasta Pasta. Lacked flavor. Overall low quality food. Even the dessert was very low quality. Just a plan ice cream sandwich which also didn't taste good (like the cheapest brand they could find). At the end we figured they weren't going to be splitting the bill 15 ways so we got it down to a 3 way split it ended up being ~$55/person to make up for those missing spots. Very disappointing overall. Not ideal for large groups. Food options not great. Food didn't taste good, service was a mess & you don't even get the rainforest experience with the light and animal show. A waste.

Yelp
Definitely a cute idea for a restaurant, and it's a classic Mall of America staple. We went around 6:30 pm on a Saturday, so they were super busy. It ended up being a 3 hour wait or seating at the bar which we opted for, and luckily we got the last 2 seats there. I ordered the rainbow colada, it was a Miami vice type drink with pineapple, it was great! The drinks came with a souvenir cup, but I was a tad disappointed when the souvenirs were all pint glasses instead of the glasses the drinks came in. However, it was really nice we got wrapped, clean cups to take and not the used ones. The menu was a little misleading though, saying "buy the drink, keep the glass." We didn't end up staying for food because it was extremely overpriced for what I saw coming out on the plates. It looked okay, but really basic fare that I didn't want to spend so much on. The rainforest sounds, animatronic animals, and rainforest display were a really fun touch!

Yelp
A month after the hot Vegas summer began I needed to escape for a bit. I ended up in Minnesota and of course I found myself inside the Mall of America at one of the more immersive Raiforest Cafe's I've been to. I loved my time here despite the food taste not meeting my standard. I wasn't expecting it to hit like a fine dining restaurant given how busy they were with a waiting list there, but I was happy for my time there. Beyond that, Rainforest Cafe is a chain which you can find all across the country. I just never been in one so busy.

America J.

Yelp
Very meh. Definitely recommend it for a one time occasion, since the novelty of the place is worth it. However, food is very... lacking. Kiddos would love it however! Service was slow but nice.

Nathan S.

Yelp
Overpriced and subpar food. You're definitely paying for the experience of the animatronics and tropical aesthetic. The food is bland, unseasoned and disappointing. I had the Rasta pasta and was disappointed by it not having anything resembling Caribbean taste or flair. The best part of our meal was the appetiser trio we got to start. The chicken strips, dip and stuffed spring rolls actually do have flavour and are decent. Service was also very bad. Took ages for our server to come back and check on us and when he did he had an attitude. As visitors from out of town we didn't feel welcome at all. With so many food options around, I'd say go literally anywhere else unless you're with kids and just want to take them for a show.

Yelp
Fun experience for kids to get to eat in a rainforest theme restaurant! Its a little loud because of the amount of kids there but thats the vibe of the restaurant. Its usually busy and theres a wait but luckily this time we only waited 15 minutes which wasnt bad. Service is very slow and the waitress disappeared a few times for long periods without checking on us but its probably due to the business of the restaurant. Appetizer Sampler felt like microwaved food. The spinach and artichoke dip was very watered down, the eggrolls were kind of soggy which was disappointing, and the mozzarella sticks were okay. 5/10 Shrimp Tacos were flavorful but very spicy. 7/10 Korean Chicken Lettuce Wraps were good but also very spicy. 8/10 Good experience for the kids and us to experience one time!

Yelp
Holy nostalgia! I loved going to Rainforest Cafe with my grandma growing up but unfortunately the location closed near us. When I passed by Rainforest Cafe in MOA I knew I had to go! It is just as I remembered with the steaming alligator, the animatronic exotic animals and the intermittent thunderstorms. I love the atmosphere and it brought back pure unadulterated joy. The servers were great, and the food came out quickly. I will say you are not paying for Michelin star food but more for the experience. I got the caesar salad which was fine. Overall, the Rainforest Cafe is a super fun place to go to let loose and relive your childhood!

Yelp
Meh - that's about what I have to say. Fun once, food is nothing exciting, but you're at the Mall of America - do something great right? Well, depending on your group, this may or may not be the fit. As a midwest transplant to the west coast, for years I've come back here with my boys from birth to now 14. I was trying to decide if this place just wasn't as exciting now that they are teens or if the food and experience was just that much more lacking.. Sadly, the food wasn't that great. We even made a joke about presentation of the kids meal with all bland colors (fries, mac n cheese) and nothing at all nutritious, like at least just throw some parsley on there to be green, and then talked about the history of parsley and why it is on a plate at all, but that's not relevant here. I do always remember the drinks being spendy, too sugary etc and the whole buy the glass thing... for my boys to get free refills they had to get the glass so, yay! We have another plastic Rainforest glass that will go out on the street with a free sign with other useless items and hopefully something thinks it's awesome it lights up. It ended up being cheaper than not getting the glass if you refill once. *sigh* I also ended up with another hurricaine type glass for whatever foo foo drink I ordered. It was way too sweet and overpriced with little alcohol as I remember from last time, and now another glass.. also going on the street for free. Mind you, we drove from CA, so this is just useless sh*t for us and would have preferred more moderate pricing to NOT have these stupid cups. We were visiting my boys' Godmom who had her grand daughter that liked the atmosphere, we did too, but honestly, it's just NOT all that. C'mon ppl, it's not Disney! We don't need the photographer at the table making us pose... would rather just have decent service and good food. This place actually was more expensive than dining out in CA, which was a first on our entire month long midwest trip. Also, the worst food. Like a bad Applebees, and I only say that because ours closed in CA, was terrible... not like the midwest, but don't have a better reference. If you want rain and thunder and will be "WOWed" enough to pay the price for "meh" food... because you have 5 year olds... okay, enjoy. It will be great. The service was so- so, though friendly enough but not like anyone was super happy to be there. Our food was so unmemorable even my kids forgot - I had veggie fajitas that were ok, my boys - one says he had some kind of a wrap and the other a bacon cheeseburger that was great. The kid's meal got tossed out and don't recall the other meal it was that great. Do it once with your kiddos, it will be fun, but won't be worth it a second time...

Yelp
Hey Travoodies Hey. What if I told you that this was not a good experience to me? So I got invited to dinner and I was interested since I have seen this restaurant several times at the Mall of America. Upon arrival, getting seated was a challange. The wait was a few as the lady was waiting for a party to get in order to clean the table. If you have never been to this restaurant, the imagine being in the jungle. Literally all the animals are actively moving and the sounds of rain fill the overhead. I heard before that it would midst but it didn't while I was there. The server we had wasn't bad, however I did feel she was a little rushed. The drink.. I ordered a "Hurricane" and it was decent. I would say that I would go there for drinks rather dine for food. The Food... The table ordered the sampler appertizer. First bite you could that it was frozen food that was warmed a little. I order a NY Strip and Bourbon Shrimp. When the plate arrived I was disappointed .. the cajun butter was barely melting, the amount of mash potates look thrown on the plate and the supposed vegetable medley looked like a forgotten thought. Not to mention they forgot my shrimp and I had to ask for it. This was definitely a 1 out of 5 moment for me. Honestly, I am not sure if I would return.

Tanya K.

Yelp
While the ambiance is pretty neat with the rain, thunder, animals and what not everything else fell short. After looking at the menu and having sticky shock, my son and I went with the appetizer sampler. It left a lot to be desired with somewhat soggy chicken, over cooked Mexican rolls, and undercooked mozzy sticks. The spinach artichoke dip was decent. I'd say your money and go to one of the other restaurants.

Ecstacy T.

Yelp
I was pretty excited to take my kids here cause my husband said that the food there was great and he used to go when he was a kid. Also the whole rainforest idea was beautiful and they loved how it would get dark and "rain and thunder" in the restaurant. Now let's talk about the food. My husband got some pasta which he liked. I got a steak, shrimp and rib combo. My teen got the steak with shrimp and my little one got the kids menu pasta with fruits. Me and my daughter's steak was bland as HELL! It's like they just cooked it and they put a thing of butter right on top. No seasoning! Wth! Her vegetables was also bland! Terrible! Adding salt and pepper didn't help either. The fries was not crispy. It was almost soggy. I was so very disappointed in the food. I expected better since the price was pretty expensive. I could have just bought steak at the store and seasoned it myself. My goodness. Not to mention the sauce for the ribs was so plain. It tasted exactly like the sweet bbq sauce that you can buy at home. At least make your own! Wth! We are very disappointed in this place. We will definitely not be coming back again. And I highly suggest you don't go. Unless you like bland tasting food then this is the place for you. Two stars cause at least our waitress was on it.

Anne C.

Yelp
We had a birthday party here for a 10 year old. I tried to book a birthday party event but they never called back when I left a message twice. I just booked via open table. Front/ reservation area gets zero stars. Arrived at 12:25 for a 12:30 and wasn't seated until 12:50. 25 min with eight ten year olds is no easy task. Server was very good, nice, food came out quick, attentive and made up for lost time. Crystal was the photographer. She was very nice, good with kids and definitely trying to sell those pics. I don't mind, it's her job and she was great at it. Food was good. Kids liked their meals, we got some cake and adults ordered apps and a burger.... All fine.

Matt J.

Yelp
Based exclusively on food and overall service, Rainforest Cafe is easily one star; however, in the context of being a Rainforest Cafe, it's more of a two-and-a-half stars rounded down to two. We were led to our table by an employee who told us she was about to go puke, and judging by her quick stride to the bathroom, she probably did. The servers were slow to bring water and the food took a long time. The atmosphere is chaotic (and not in the way promised by the gimmick) with the constant interruptions for birthday singalongs and faux rainstorms being exhausting. That said, they were accommodating when I asked for the Cobb salad to be made vegetarian. The salad itself wasn't a knockout with plenty of wilted lettuce and an absolute overdose of olives and tomatoes, but with enough blue cheese in a bite, it did the job. Even those complaints undermine the reason for being at a Rainforest Cafe so odds are this review isn't any kind of revelation. You know what you're gonna get.

Joshua L.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of visiting the rainforest cafe while in town for the Minnesota State Fair...and may I say what a fun restaurant and a wonderful experience. We arrived just as the restaurant opened and before we realized it we were ushered into a dark tropical rainforest filled with animatronics and plenty of foliage. I was surprised at how up kept and clean the restaurant was. There was no wear and tear on the decorations or animals at all. Every ten minutes or so there was a "thunderstorm" complete with flashing strobe lights and rain sounds. We had a ten month old with us and it was not too scary for him...he loved it. Several people had birthdays while we were there and the staff brought out a sparkling volcano brownie for them as well as sang to them. It was fun! Drinks: I ordered a Strawberry, banana, pineapple, and banana fruit smoothie which was great! It came with a souvenir cup that lights up in the dimmed jungle lighting. It tasted like it was made with real fruit and the light up glass was good fun too. I also ordered the Chocolate Oreo milkshake which was wonderful too. Food: We started with the Combo appetizer sampler which I would highly recommend. It came with fried cheese sticks, chicken tenders, southwestern egg rolls, and a very creamy spinach and artichoke dip which was to die for. Honestly, the appetizer sampler beats out similar offerings from restaurants like Applebee's and Ruby Tuesday's. Our only complaint was the honey mustard had a strange flavor we did not enjoy. For my main dish I chose the Blue mountain Grilled Chicken Sandwich. This beast of a sandwich was very filling and came complete with Grilled chicken, crispy applewood smoked bacon, cheese, LTO, sandwiched between two pieces of cheddar baked bread. Everything on the sandwich was great except the chicken itself was a little dry and a little tough. Sometimes very fresh organic chicken breast can be that way and that's what it seemed like to me. They were definitely using high quality chicken but they should tenderize or brine it to make it softer for the guest. In addition, I had a sidecar of Shrimp Scampi and sampled some seafood from my friend's platter. The flavors were good but the shrimp itself was sort of tough and lacked that sweet shrimp flavor you get by the coast with fresh shrimp. So I wouldn't recommend the shrimp. All in all this place surpassed my expectations and was a fun experience!

Yelp
My friend had her birthday doing some things at the mall and the group decided to eat at the Rainforest cafe. It has the fun ambiance of the jungle, it we had a reservation and the group barely fit into the booth. Not sure if they thought it was going to be partially kids, but 8 of us barely gave us arm space to eat. Our waitress was super friendly and able to give some food recommendations which is always nice. The food in my opinion was good but over priced. We did order a few desserts and the red Velvet cake had a weird almost soapy taste to it. If you want to go because it's fun to eat in the jungle go ahead, but if you want to go for delicious food you can find other options in the Mall that I would choose over this.

Meia S.

Yelp
It's really a place to go for the ambience and the kids really love it! They feel like they have transported to the jungle. My 3 year old was scared of the fake thunder though. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet to our kids. The food is mediocre but it's expected from a chain restaurant. Definitely a place to go to celebrate an occasion as it is pricey.

Kiana M.

Yelp
Stopped in today to check out the hype. I've always wanted to go as a child and now I got the opportunity to go with my kid. Inside of the restaurant is like a rainforest of moving funny looking stuffed animals. They were so ugly and it was hilarious to watch. It's pretty dark and there's a fake thunderstorm every 20 minutes. It's very instagramable. Our server was friendly. We ordered the creole mac and cheese to share. It was spicy penne pasta with sausage and shrimp. Deducting a star, the price rings up differently than what's on the menu ... they should fix that immediately, I hate over paying! 3/5 We also ordered the beastly burger. It was with Safari fries. The burger was double patty. We had it medium. The fries were perfectly seasoned but soggy. We prefer them crispy. 3/5 I ordered the fusion margarita. It was refreshing and fruity, and the best part was you get to take the cup home! 4/5 I ordered the BLUE (what kind of flavor is that LOL) Coronarita, it was a sweet frozen margarita with a mini corona topper. 5/5 All in all, we enjoyed ourselves. We left super full. Great restaurant for kids. You have to check this spot out at least once in a lifetime.

Yelp
My wife and I recently decided to give Rainforest Cafe a try, especially after discovering that all the other restaurants in the Mall of America had an hour or more wait time. To our pleasant surprise, we were seated after just a 20-minute wait, a welcome change in the bustling food scene of the mall. Our experience began with a friendly and prompt greeting from our waitress, who quickly took our drink orders. Upon her return, we were ready to dive into the menu. I opted for the "Taste Of The Islands," a vibrant dish featuring Caribbean Coconut Shrimp, mango habanero glazed shrimp, jerk seasoned tilapia topped with pineapple salsa, served alongside Caribbean rice and seasonal vegetables. My wife chose the "Jungle Steak & Shrimp," which comprised a juicy sirloin steak, Shrimp Scampi, Caribbean Coconut Shrimp, and seasonal vegetables. Both of us were pleasantly surprised with our meals. Before this visit, we had never dined at Rainforest Cafe and naively assumed it would be comparable to a chain like Denny's. However, we were utterly mistaken! The dishes we received were exceptional. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, while the shrimp was outstanding--each bite bursting with freshness and flavor. The ambience of Rainforest Cafe added to our delightful experience, with animated animals and lush forest decor creating a whimsical dining atmosphere. It truly felt like we had stepped into a different world, making our meal even more enjoyable. In conclusion, we highly recommend giving Rainforest Cafe a try. Whether you're dining with family, friends, or that special someone, this restaurant offers a unique experience that goes far beyond our initial expectations. Don't miss out on the culinary treasures hidden within this tropical oasis!

Trisha J.

Yelp
The rainforest cafe is about experience, not food quality. Our kids (6+4) LOVED the rainforest experience, especially the changing sky feature, rainbow, and all the moving animals. The thunderstorm was also a huge highlight. The food portions are huge, spendy, and very average in taste/quality, as we expected.

Caroline Y.

Yelp
Honestly, if you're looking for amazing food, you probably don't want to eat at Rainforest Café. You come to Rainforest Café for the fake thunderstorms in the restaurant, and the animatronic animals. If you've never eaten here, it's kind of like a Disney experience. This spot is good for kids and families. The food is like overpriced Chili's. We had great service while we were here and our waiter was attentive, and kind. We enjoyed the animatronic animals and making fun of how silly they were. There was a gorilla that seemed to be making some inappropriate hand gestures?? Kids would not notice but we giggled as adults in the room. We ordered the volcano, dessert, which was over $20. Five people could split it. The three of us tried, and we were no match. Overall, great atmosphere, and good for families and kids.

Alisha R.

Yelp
I'll start with the good. We checked in for our 615 reservation and were sat a few min early. Out food..once it was correct and we all got it..was VERY good. The taco salad was excellent and my husbands burger was great. Our server Najai was actually very pleasant and sweet. However when your management decides to seat her not 3 not 4 not 5 but 6 tables back to back to back is just setting your service up to fail. She had no help. Our milkshake took 22 min to be served and my my son did not receive his kids Mac and cheese until I had to ask for a manager. The manager was nice enough and fixed my food that was incorrect and got my sons dinner. As a former restaurant manager I really try to be understanding but it was a bit much. Again food was very delicious and I would go again just for food. Server was good service was not

K B.

Yelp
The service at the bar was amazing. Saw bartender Bri card a customer who became very agitated. He didn't have an ID (in the Mall of America he had no wallet), so Bri said she couldn't serve him. As soon as she walked away he told me he'd just order at the table. Few minutes later he appeared with an ID (assume the wife's). Bri explained that if she saw him drinking the beer it'd be taken because she'd only serve the person with the ID. He was then very irritated and yelled at Bri and the bar area this restaurant was losing his business. "All his business." Bri was so professional and lovely. Hope management recognizes how special she is!

Carla N.

Yelp
So to keep the peace, we decided to grab a bite and take in the animals and little people here. Food was surprisingly good. All 4 of us sat at the Bar and had a cocktail and cocktails. Service was fast and efficient for such a busy place. The Korean fried chicken in lettuce wraps was full flavored and had at least 8 pieces of chicken with a good amount of stir fried veggies in a sweet and spicy Korean sauce. I also was given a separate plate for the lettuce wrappings. The fish tacos had each a nice thick piece of battered fish With an ample amount of lettuce, cabbage and lettuce with pico de gallo sauce. The flat bread pizza for 1 was well flavored and the crust was crisp but not dry. The Korean stir fried was such a large helping that it could have fed 2 people. There was a bit too much sauce though for a stir fried dish I felt. The ambiance is what it is for a place that children would be entertained and wide eyed for good amount of eating time.

David P.

Yelp
Atmosphere is perfect to take the kids as they will be very amused. Staff is fun and friendly as well. You go here for the atmosphere plain and simple. The food is average at best. I had the steak, shrimp, and ribs. The steak was tough and just ok with not much flavor, the shrimp was coconut fried shrimp that tastes the same as many other places, and the ribs were very good. The corn chowder soup was way too salty and did not finish. The kids had a good time and they do have quite a few options for kids. So if you plan to go do it for the kids and ambiance, and not for the food. The food is overpriced and average at best.

Yelp
It's really not all bad. When I choose here to go eat dinner as an adult? No. But do I have really fond memories of going to rainforest Café with my parents as a kid? Yes. So did I take my kids here when we were at Mall of America? Absolutely. And really the food was totally acceptable and the atmosphere was fun so this could easily be a four-star review, except for the fact that it is all pretty insanely expensive, but you're really paying a premium for the experience which I was OK with. To really get your moneys worth make sure you take home the commemorative cups that your drinks are served in.

Yelp
The food is ok. The portion sizes were just right. The service was really good. Really you go for the fun ambiance.

Yelp
This was not great. We had reservations and it still took 15 minutes to wait, the food was awful and EXTREMELY overpriced. The environment was great and our server was nice, but I would not recommended. If you choose to come here, get the strawberry banana smoothie.

Yelp
We wanted to share the fond memories we have from our childhoods with our kids-- sad choice! The hostess was super rude-- we checked in for our reservation, waited 15 minutes and got the text saying our table was ready. Went to the podium to let them know-- the people in front of us were seated right away but then she ignored us and started waiting on the people walking in... I finally asked if I needed to get back in line and she said yes! Completely pointless and inconsistent. Our server was efficient and friendly. My son ordered a steak (I know, said choice again) and somehow they managed to serve the driest steak ever-- while cooked to a perfect medium rare! It also had a weirdly flavored crust on it... Overall-- not great-- will not return!

Yelp
The food here was not impressive at all. The service was okay. It is a ice atmosphere, which I'm assuming is what keeps it in business--along with the novelty of the place.

Yelp
This is a nostalgic spot that every kid must try once...and now that we've gone here with our kiddos, we will likely never go back. The wait can be long and the food mediocre and highly overpriced (I'm talking over $20 for a ground beef taco salad). There is a great kids menu with coloring pages, activities, and more overpriced food options. There are still the faux vines and rainforest decor with outdated animatronic animals that will do jerky movements sporadically when there is a pretend storm in the cafe. The storm was a fun touch, but did scare a few very young kiddos at tables near us. We had to wait 45 minutes around 11 am on a Monday. Understandable, considering we were a party of 7. Also, they will take you phone number and text you updates, so you are able to roam to neighboring stores for a bit until your table is ready. From start to finish, the staff was very helpful and friendly. They patiently helped my parents with the reward program enrollment, gave recommendations when asked, and took a ton of photos of our group for us. The food itself was fine. Definitely not worth the price, but you are paying for the name and thematic experience. We ordered a mozzarella flatbread, the beef taco salad, the pastalaya (jambalaya) and several kids meals. None of the adult meals were finished, not because they were large, but rather unremarkable and not worth lugging around the mall as leftovers. The kids liked the perfectly-sized kid meals. Note that there are orange slices that already come with the kid meals, in case that impacts what side you get.

Yelp
Good service, ok good. A little noisy but overall fun experience for the kids. Prices were better than expected and drinks (both alcohol and mock-tails) were in a souvenir glass for reasonable prices.

Yelp
I hadn't been here since I was a kid and it was just as cool of an ambiance. The food was okay, then again you don't go there for amazing food! Kids got Mac and cheese which was okay- could use some more flavor but they appear to have a focus on health which I appreciate. The only problem was that the kids didn't eat much of it because it wasn't really that cheesy. We got a pasta and a burger for the adults and the burger was far better than I'd anticipated and the pasta my wife got was solid. Nothing to write a rave review about. The people running the front desk were not the most competent, but hey, they were trying. Had a reservation for 4:45, got there at 4:42 and was sat at 5:07. We were told 3-4 times we were "next" but that wasn't the case. Something seemed out of whack and it want whacky Wednesday it was just Saturday. Once we got seated, our server was over the top amazing and made us go from slightly regretting our choices to loving it. He was above and beyond incredible. Frankly, he was a better server than you get at most higher end restaurants. Guy was incredible. They made our daughter's birthday special and fun. Kudos to the team that sings when they bring out the dessert because they had smiles on their faces and really made the kids feel special. Overall, worth the time and money due to ambiance. Make sure the kids have a snack in them as wait times can vary and enjoy it. It is an experience akin to a restaurant at Disney.

Yelp
Kids wanted to try the Rainforest Cafe at the mall. Entered and stood by podium while five staff sat and talked about one of the waitresses there. Once we got their attention we were seated and after about 15-20 minutes of staff passing by us we decided to leave. Not sure if our wait person was the one sitting down by the bar talking to a couple or one of the five still gossiping at the front. I wish I could review the food but I can't even review a glass of water. On the plus side my kids liked the decorations and animatronics. We left and walked down to Cadillac Ranch where we were greeted and seated immediately, awesome waitress took our order within a few minutes, and the food and service were awesome.

Yelp
DUST GALORE!! DIRTY FLOORS, NASTY UNDERCOOKED UNSEASONED FOOD. FOOD IS NOT FRESH! Tastes like it's cooked days ago and pulled back out!!!!!!!!!!!!- would rate lower if I could. .03/10 i cannot give a good review for absolutely anything having to do with this place. This might be the worst restaurant experience ive ever had in my entire life. When you walk in the first thing you notice is the pounds of dust on the vines. The vines are the entire ceiling in the place so you can't escape it. Youre also met with a smell of dirt. There's no realistic way to clean it and they should just get rid of it. Super slow moving. When you're seated, the floors have previous tables bitten food and sucked on oranges on the ground. To top it off the food is disgusting. Undercooked, no seasoning. The chefs cannot be real chefs. Terrible experience!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
The staff here make it feel like you are an inconvenience to be dining with them. I stopped in with a few friends and they watched us the entire time like a hawk, I've never been so uncomfortable dining anywhere. Yes, the novelty of the rainstorm was fun but the servers have major attitude. Drinks were ok. We would have ordered food but felt as though it would be even more of an inconvenience, so we just left after our drinks. On top of that, the wait was over 2 hours. We won't be back.

Yelp
Visiting mall of America we decided on here for dinner. I haven't been here since my kids were small. First of all the positives my coconut shrimp was delicious and our entire group was happy with the food. Our waiter very nice The negative the noise is deafening every 15 minutes and you can't hear anything. This is a place for young kids. I think I am too old for this place

Yelp
Fun place for kids--my daughter loved her souvenir cup milkshake and the lightening and animals were great. The service was fine--hostess got us right in as a party of two. My daughter enjoyed her hamburger and fries. But I can't recommend the China island chicken salad... lettuce was warm and limp and looked like the I got every leftover chunk from the salad packing machine at the factory LOL, they must buy the worst & cheapest salad mix imaginable. It had 4 mushy pieces of mandarin orange in it. The chicken was cooked fine, thank goodness there was something to eat, but it wasn't really seasoned, very plain. Salad dressing was very dull and tasteless. Not the place to get a salad!

Yelp
I went out to rainforest cafe with some friends for some nostalgia and was met with disappointment. I made a reservation and still had to wait 10 minutes to get in. When we got seated, the floor was a mess(see pic). The food was mediocre for the price you pay. You are definitely paying for the experience and not what you're eating. The fries are bland, and the chicken sandwich I got was pretty dry. Also, I paid for a drink that comes with a souvenir cup, and the glass was chipped when they gave it to me :( This place is definitely meant for kids, so it could be pretty fun for them. The animatronics are cool and the signature thunderstorms were entertaining to sit though. Would I go here again? Probably not. However, it was interesting to see rainforest cafe through an adult lens.

Yelp
For a Saturday night at 6pm we got sat fairly quickly! It is a big restaurant and I love the decor going along with the rainforest theme. We got burgers and they were bigger than we anticipated. It was very delicious and you get to pick how you want your burger cooked. Plus I love they have souvenir cups for specialty drinks that very fun! Great place to take your kids or a big group!

Richard J.

Yelp
I love all the friendly animals and the thunderstorms are very relaxing. Fell asleep to the storms after my massive blue cock(tail). Then went home and had wine and built legos. Thank you rainforest cafe.

Yelp
The hostess with the glasses and the bull ring was repeatedly rude to us. Aside from that, the service and atmosphere were great. If the hostess weren't so rude, u would've left a great review.

Yelp
Did a takeout from Grubhub and once I got there, they were busy helping everyone so they didn't get to me right away which is fine. Waited and when they got to me, I told them I've ordered take out. They got me my take out and as I was leaving they shouted at me saying I need to pay for the food. Everybody was just looking at me as if I was a thief. I told them that I've ordered from grubhub and have paid for it already. That was just very embarrassing. They could've handled that in a different and better way. They didn't need to shout out loud for everybody to hear and making me look and feel like I was robbing them. They acted as if I was running away with the food. Never going back again!
