Cheaper than Loblaws!!! This place has the BEST selection of organic quality produce. They do their own independent research in growers and select the best quality. Ontario produce season is starting and they already have a great selection of Ontario products. Do you think the chain store manager knows the names of the local farmers that grew their produce? Their displays are beautiful and they also have a very thoughtful reduced section in the back. There’s so much pride and integrity here and in my opinion, that’s exactly what I want from someone I buy food from. Keep Raising the Root Ladies!!

Great selection of fresh produce and other organic products that eclipse the big grocery stores down the street, the main difference between shopping at Raise the Root and the big box stores down the street is the selection, quality and freshness of the produce and products that often come from local vendors and farmers. Raise the Root is also a more personable and communal experience that feels more fulfilling when shopping local. The staff at Raise the Root accentuate a positively pleasant experience. Raise the Root also encourages shoppers to take and leave reusable grocery bags, removing the need to have to pay for grocery bags when you forget one at home and saving costs overall. Raise the Root proudly displays the savings you will gain by shopping there and is a great neighborhood staple.

This shop was recently covered in Toronto Life magazine. As someone with a limited diet due to health concerns, I have to be careful about food and it can be challenging to find things in local shops. Crazy how you miss gems in your own area...so glad I came across the article. Raise the Root is a great shop, very good selection, it's got your staples - fruit, vegetables, breads. A good selection of shelved, refrigerated and frozen (organic, dairy free, vegan and more) AND a large selection of local products - soups, snacks, granola. I also REALLY love the reusable "Take a Bag" thing they have - you aren't forced to buy a bag, just use the ones that they have there. Price-wise, there are things that are cheaper than the big box stores, items that are comparable and the more specialty items that cost a bit more wherever you get them. The bonus is buying here, you are supporting local businesses and your community. The wonderful lady, I believe one of the co-owners, was just amazing. We will be back. This shop has replaced the chain health stores and big box stores we were using for specialty items.

Great local shop to drop in and grab some essentials. Producexis freshe and pricing is better than what you'll get at a Loblaws. The staff is kind, and they also regularly accept reusable bag donations.

Our household LOVES RTR. The products are fantastic and thoughtful, it’s a great shopping experience and the team there is so kind. Also, we mentioned they didn’t have our favourite flavour of something and ever since they’ve been stocking it - there’s a level of personal care that you just don’t see at the big box stores. Thanks RTR for being our fav neighborhood grocer:)

Shopped here for 3 years, best grocery store in Toronto! Products are amazing, they are a bit pricy but you get what you pay for and that means QUALITY!!! The staff here is kind and inviting and it gives you that cozy and cute shopping experience. Definitely recommend coming here, once you try what a real banana tastes like you'll never get a banana elsewhere.

A few Friday nights ago, I had placed an order at Descendant Pizza. I had half an hour to kill. I decided to check the area out. I found Raise the Root Organic Market steps away. I love exploring a new grocery store, so I dropped by to check it out. There were so many fresh fruits and veggies at this place. The woman behind the counter immediately said hi. I reciprocated, intrigued by the fair-trade bananas from Ecuador and more. This store has a lot of vegan options. It also has gluten-free and keto items, but the vegan specialty items were prevalent. I loved seeing vegan meals in clear containers. I saw vegan marshmallows that aren't all that common. I was intrigued by the mushroom teas. I got one of the elixirs to try out. This place had coconut nog at a reduced price. I love the nog, except that it is super sweet. The price was right, though. You can get baking items and toothpaste here. I liked that the oral hygiene section was near the chocolate bars. Coincidence? I think not. I ended up getting a dark chocolate bar with coconut and skipped getting toothpaste. There was a bottle of The Good juice. It had celery, cucumber, and spinach in it. I liked the sound of that mix and got a bottle. I loved this store so much. I told the woman on staff that I loved shopping here. She was genuinely happy that I did. I paid with a debit card. All went well. I actually had my Yelp canvas bag with me that I got from Descendant. I used it to place all my goodies in it. Perfect! This market was a great find. I look forward to returning when I'm back in the area. The Good drink was indeed good! Same goes with the chocolate bar that I inhaled. (44)

The produce here is always so delicious and fresh. I love coming here every week to pick up a couple of things at a time, and to pick up my weekly Black Bird sourdough loaf. The staff are friendly, helpful and very knowledgable about their products.

The ONLY thing, at this point, that I care about is whether the owners are abusive. Normal people are being abused in stores all the time now, by owners and staff and hired guards who are covid crazies. (Thanks though, for helping God to know who the goats are as he and his son sort the sheep from the goats.) If anything like what happened at the Big Carrot (reported on Rebel News) can happen here, I then have no reason to ditch the abusive Big Carrot. Very cute neighborhood store with lots of vegan specialty items. I popped in and got some snacks and fresh fruit as well as some marked down vegan prepared items that were sell by that day. Proprietor was for nice and very helpful. An impressive variety packed into a small space.

After stopping into Meat on Queen, saw this little organic produce shop. A wide variety of organic fruits and veggies and Sunshines Yolks Eggs which are organic, ecological and free range in the summer non gmo flax fed in winter with signature golden yolks, the sign of a good egg!

Loved everything about this place except I wish they had a better/wider array of veggies and fruits. They didn't have blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and a bunch of other fruits I was looking for. However, I understand it's a small store and the items that they did have were fresh and tasty. They also had samples of mango that were delicious! The staff was also very lovely so all in all I good experience!

The way a local veggie shop should be run! They have everything here and the staff rule!

This is a terrific little store with a good variety of produce and products. The items they stock are carefully sourced, and represent companies with strong ethics and great ethos. Additionally, anyone I've ever interacted with there has been really lovely and kind. Highly recommend.

Raise the Root has great prices, fresh produce, particularly delicious apples, and good vibes. We love the wide variety of nutritious options on offer - turmeric elixir anyone? Plus, jamming to the music while hatching plans for supper is super fun. All the folks behind the counter are helpful and lovely.

I go here to buy groceries for my son. Everything is reliable and tasty! The owner is amazing and honest which I truly appreciate!
