"Raise the Root is a one-stop organic market. Approaching the shop I found an inviting display of fruits in the window featuring grapefruits, pommelos, mandarin and navel oranges, apples and bananas. Well-stocked, the shop has organic fruits and vegetables, natural grocery items as well as organic dairy and household needs. Raise the Root works directly with local farmers for much of its produce. The focus is upon local and on the late fall day I visit the shop it’s heartening to see the wide and colourful array of Ontario root vegetables. Speaking with Raise the Root co-owner Amy Wilson, the shop has plans to cultivate roots within the community – gardening workshops, movie screenings in the recently finished back garden; the shop has even hosted a number of pop-up markets featuring local small vegan food businesses." - Rob Fujimoto
