I think anytime I'm in Baton Rouge, one of my first stops is here at Raising Canes. It's no secret I am a fan of RC - a chicken tender in all of it's battered glory, fried to crispy perfection and complemented by a crunchy helping of Texas toast smothered in Canes sauce. Louisiana's greatest fast food fried chicken isn't Popeyes, it is and always will be Raising Canes.
And while the chain is spreading like wildfire, I almost always swear the prices keep going up. People often put Raising Canes on the cheap eats pedestal, but at $8 for a three piece, some fries and toast, doesn't exactly feel like a deal in Baton Rouge.
At this location they do it well. Fast and prompt, they've been the goto location for large batch orders whenever we have parties or family gatherings, executed perfectly almost every time. They tend to shower the bags full of canes sauce in little plastic cups, but I wish a bottle (or better yet, a JUG) of this magic sauce was available for the taking - it's the very potion of epicness that separates RCs from the rest of the competition.
But though there is a part of me that would want them to remain in Baton Rouge, I am ready for the national domination of Raising Canes. If they can open a location in Boston, then surely they can bring this beloved Southern chain in my neck of the woods in NYC.
And as always for Raising Canes newbies, always say the following: skip the slaw, extra toast. Then beg for more of the sauce (without having to pay 50 cents for it!).
