Cult Chicken Chain Raising Cane’s Nears D.C. Debut | Eater DC

"After two years in the making, I'm excited that Raising Cane’s, the Louisiana-born chicken chain, brings its destination chicken tenders to Washington with a debut inside Union Station on Tuesday, January 9. The D.C. outpost — the chain’s first inside a transit hub and its inaugural location in the city — sits on the east side ground level near the Amtrak train terminals and will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Its straightforward menu centers on crispy chicken fingers (strips brined for 24 hours and claimed never to be frozen), crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, a dipper, garlicky Texas toast, and a drink, available as 3-, 4-, or 6-piece combos or a sandwich; meal boxes start at $10.99, and the sweet tea and signature sauces already have a devoted following. Founded in 1996 in Baton Rouge, the brand now operates more than 760 restaurants across 37 states, the Middle East, and Guam, and recently made its DMV debut in Sterling, Virginia, where it drew long lines — though the smaller Union Station edition with standing tables and a dozen Union Station illustrations by Carlos Diniz should mean quicker turnover for on-the-go commuters. Opening-day perks include a 7 a.m. chance to win free Cane’s for a year (20 winners drawn 8–8:30 a.m.), a special-edition hat for the first 200 customers at 9 a.m., and festivities with Screech the Nationals’ mascot, a live DJ, a photo booth, and other giveaways." - Tierney Plumb

American-Chinese Charmer Lucky Danger Is Diving Into Foggy Bottom’s Western Market | Eater DC

"I read that Louisiana‑based fried chicken tender empire Raising Cane’s is preparing to enter the D.C. dining scene with three outlets slated to open this year (including one in Union Station) and more locations planned beyond those initial openings." - Stephanie Carter

Google
Oh my goodness, what a restaurant. I recently went there 2 months ago for a family trip in D.C., and the chicken fingers were amazing! I love the standing tables, as it is uniquely designed. I'd definitely recommend this for a visit in Washington D.C. Union station. If you are staying in a hotel at NoMa-Gallaudet Station, it is just one stop to union station via red line.

I’d been wanting to try Raising Canes, so I walked to Union Market just to give it a go. Friendly employees and great, hot, juicy, tender chicken. Great coleslaw too. Delicious. There’s no seating available at all and the music is VERY, VERY loud but over all it was great!

People RAVE about Raising Cane's so I had to go. I'm not a huge fast-food guy, but I do like chicken. Does it live up to the hype? I personally didn't think so, BUT the chicken was good. I ordered the three-piece chicken finger meal which comes with fries and soda (they sell Coca-Cola products). The chicken is perfectly cooked, hot, and the dipping sauce is good. I asked for mayo on the fries and they were well salted. Overall, not a bad experience. Staff were very kind.

Chick It Out: Our First Taste of Raising Cane’s This was our first visit to Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers restaurant. We had seen one in New York City last summer but not had the time to call in. On this occasion we were passing through Union Station in D.C. with a lot of spare time, so took the opportunity to finally give them a try (Sat, May 31, 2025). Using the electronic kiosk, we ordered: 🍗 The Box Combo (4 chicken fingers, Crinkle-Cut Fries, Texas Toast, Cane’s Sauce, Coleslaw and regular Coke) = $13.49 🍗 The Box Combo (4 chicken fingers, Crinkle-Cut Fries, Texas Toast, Cane’s Sauce, Coleslaw and regular Lemonade) = $13.79 (inc. $.30 upcharge for lemonade) ❌ Cane’s Sauce = $.49 (they didn’t provide it) 🍴 Utensils = $0.00 👜 Bag = $.05 🐶 Collectible Graduation Plush Puppy = $9.99 😢 Tax = $3.78 💰 Total = $41.59 The restaurant was heaving and we briefly had to line up outside in a queue for the two electronic kiosks. Despite this, service was swift - the bagged food arrived in exactly 5 minutes. Unfortunately, our order wasn’t accurate - the server forgot to put in the additional Cane’s Sauce and they also forgot to put in the $9.99 collectible puppy plushy; we noticed the latter was missing and had to ask for it. The restaurant was modern and vibrantly decorated with a large plastic yellow dog in the corner - what was with the dogs? We later discovered that the chain was named after one of the co-founder’s Labrador Retriever, Raising Cane! Mystery solved. We took our boxes to a nearby food court, as all Raising Cane’s tables were high without chairs - not the most comfortable way to enjoy your food. 👍 Our chicken fingers were hot and juicy and the portion size was very filling, making this a substantial lunch. 👍 We enjoyed trying the Cane’s Sauce and coleslaw. 👍 The Texas Toast, adorned with sesame seeds, had a light buttery and garlic flavor and was interesting to try. 👍 The lemonade was refreshing and worth the $.30 upcharge. The flavors of the battered chicken fingers were considerably different to the competitors we were familiar with, KFC and Popeyes, but that didn’t necessarily make them any better. Raising Cane’s was founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1996 and is soon to celebrate its 30th birthday. We are sure we will see more of their restaurants when our U.S. travels continue and we would call in again.

Google
Food was really good, however the store layout was chaotic on where to order and there was standing counters to eat but no stools. Luckily there is food court style seating down stairs. If you have a hankering for some good chicken on the good I'd recommend this location. It definitely will not be full-service style resturant.

Google
I went in the evening time and all chairs had been removed, so everyone was standing at their tables. I thought the service was efficient, and I wasn’t waiting too long. The food tasted good.

Google
I’ve been a loyal Raising Cane’s customer for over 10 years, trying it in several states, but this location was a complete letdown. Terrible experience with cold food, bad customer service, and poor management. I waited 10 minutes for my order because they forgot to call my name, and by the time I went up to check, everything—including the chicken, bread, and fries—was stone-cold and unappetizing. When I asked them to fix it, they just replaced the chicken, not the fries and bread, which remained cold. No apology from the staff; they just shrugged it off like it was no big deal. The employees were rude and uninterested, and the manager was absent during the whole ordeal. This branch is poorly run and doesn’t live up to the standards of other locations I’ve visited. Skip this one—it’s not worth the hassle!

I had never tried Raising Cane’s before now, but I’m glad I did. The chicken fingers were very juicy and the sauce was really tasty. If you happen to be in the train station and need something to eat then check this place out.

Yelp
While visiting from California, my friend took me to Raising Cane's at Union Station and I absolutely loved it! The chicken was perfectly crispy, juicy, and flavorful. The fries were golden and crunchy, and the drink was super refreshing--just what I needed after a long morning of sightseeing. The customer service was excellent everyone was friendly, quick, and helpful. I also loved the decor inside; it was fun, clean, and had that signature Cane's vibe that makes the experience even better. We enjoyed our meal sitting around the beautiful Union Station, which is such a historic and stunning building. After eating, we explored inside and admired the architecture, shops, and all the energy of this iconic spot. It's the perfect place to enjoy good food and soak in some DC history at the same time. Definitely a great stop if you're passing through Union Station

Yelp
Decent chicken place in Union Station close to McDonalds. This is a chain and I've found that it's not as "craveable" as other locations. This one can be a bit inconsistent--they claim everything is cooked to order but given the speed at times that literally can't be true. The true shining star is the Cane's sauce. Would give it 3.5 stars, but rounding down since Yelp doesn't let us rate in halves!

Yelp
Pressed for time in a train station and the pickins were slim. I can say these things however.........I welcome a kiosk situation anytime.....Wawa, Honey Grow, the corner Papi shop, it just makes things easier. Pull your ticket and step aside. The only problem with this at this particular Raising Cane's is that the music was sooooo damn loud that the staff had to yell out and you had to be listening hard because it was also crowded. I could not understand why they were playing music at that volume. The chicken was fresh but I did not find it crispy enough. If i dredge it through a dipping sauce, and Cane's is pretty thick, and the breading is left in the container then we have lost the challenge my friend. But what did stay tasted good. So was the sauce. As for the bread, I didn't understand that part either. Was I to make a sandwich out of my tenders? Not really, there was only one slice. I just munch on it as a side? No, I'd rather just have the fries. I threw it away. Shame, now that I'm writing this I should have fed it to the birds. They were pretty plentiful at this place.

Yelp
I ordered two chicken fingers a la carte! I didn't get to eat it over two hours plus but I could smell it seeping out from my knapsack. By the time I got to it, it was soggy and nothing crisp about it. I found the chicken to be moist but very salty. The store was big and clean. The decor was nostalgic with disco balls hanging and a cute, giant dog wearing a tricorn hat! If I tried the chicken fingers again, I would try to eat it almost immediately to see if it is actually crisp!

Yelp
I was excited to try this new fast food place in Union Station but sadly felt underwhelmed by the quality of the food. I ordered a four chicken tender meal and found that one of the tenders was completely inedible. Rubbery is a generous adjective. While the other three were fine, nothing special, this one just could not be eaten. It's a clean interior and nice service, but wow for those prices, you'd expect more than rubbery tenders and soggy fries. I did like the sauce and coleslaw, though!

Yelp
Great chicken, fun disco ball ambiance, but a bit challenging to find at Union Station--it is on the main level (one up from metro) and almost allll of the way in the back, in the middle. I wasn't thrilled to order at a kiosk--wanted to order extra crispy and didn't see the option--but it was super busy so despite trekking here all of the way from downtown, I just did a kiosk order. Chicken was good, but unfortunately a packed metro ride meant that I didn't get a chance to eat it at a normal temperature. I will come back and attempt to eat it super hot and fresh!

Yelp
This Raising Cane's is the first one I've been to! I was very excited to see this location within Union Station. It was very simple to order food, but that is thanks to the cashier, Denise. She was patient and kind enough to explain we can buy the chicken fingers in a manner of ways (naked to extra crispy --- this all depends on how much breading someone wants). This is definitely a to-go spot with standing room only. But the stand-up counters all for people to put down their food while they eat. The counter space was ample and the counters themselves were spotless, all while the restaurant being pretty busy (lots of DoorDash orders). I like how staff announced the orders being available for pickup: Ex: "I've got love for Ana!" The chicken was piping hot and so delicious. The pieces were pretty crispy (I ordered extra crispy. Six fingers a la cart were $2.19 each) and the Raising Cane's Sauce (25¢ per container). Cane Sauce did not disappoint. I can't wait to try the other items on the menu soon!

Yelp
Seamless experience to order food to go for my train. Looked busy but everything was efficient, and food was right what I expected out of raising canes!

Yelp
Well a long line is usually an indicator of good food. Not really the case this time. For tenders to be the star of the show and only main menu item, they missed the mark and fell a bit flat for me. They were breaded pretty good but the flavor and seasoning wasn't there for me. I dis get carry out so it took me a few to dig in so the meal wasn't piping hot but the fries weren't very good either. The Texas toast was actually the best part of the meal for me. Service was pretty quick and pleasant. However I probably wouldn't add this to my list of places to go back to.

Yelp
The Raising Cane's at Union Station is an express stop for those craving Cane's. This is my second time having Cane's. I'm originally from New York, so I usually go to the one in Times Square in the theater district, but this particular location seems to taste better. Maybe it's my personal preferences or expectations, but this one was a bit more generous with the sauce portions, and the fries were properly salted--unlike my last visit to the Times Square location, where the fries had no salt at all. When evaluating Cane's, I also consider the customer service. Surprisingly, the staff at Union Station seemed rushed and lacked the hospitality or joy I've experienced at other locations. I'm not sure why, but if I had to guess, it might have to do with my mentioning that I met Cane's CEO. The reaction at Union Station was dismissive, as if they didn't care, whereas the staff at the New York branch seemed more familiar with the CEO Todd Graves, AJ Kumaran, the co-CEO, and my trip to Canecún 2024. The charm that Cane's seems limited. There are no chairs, just stand-up tables, and the space is small with minimal decor--aside from a colonial-style design, glass accents, and a crystal ball featuring their mascot dog wearing what looks like a patriot's hat. Part of what makes Cane's special is the fun and lively environment, that and the sauce, but here it felt more rushed. The food quality was solid at $12 and is much faster than McDonald's which inside the Union Station has been notorious slow.

Yelp
Rising Cane's is always a special treat. I started enjoying it on my trips in AZ a while ago and I love that I can have it on the East Coast now. ( NYC and DC) I noticed they now have opened in the train station -The chicken and fries ( and garlic toast) are always delicious. Love stopping in when in DC. The kiosk is also helpful to order if there are long lines. Enjoy

Yelp
Chick-fil-who?! If you're in union station take the walk upstairs for better chicken and experience! Was here for work and super excited to try this out, the service was amazing! Super kind, friendly, and fast service puts this location apart from others!! Chicken was hot, tender, juicy, and the Texas toast was artery clogging (in a mostly good way-ha)!! The fried add kinda bland/boring but do yourself a favor and just get an extra canes sauce so you can dip those bad boys! Looks like only standing room seating sooooo either eat standing or take your food and self downstairs and find a place to eat with the pigeons!

Yelp
I have been watching people eat Cane's and rave about the sauce on TikTok and YouTube for a hot minute, so I was happy to learn that Cane's was moving into Union Station which is pretty close to me. The hubby and I went here on 5/24/2024. The hubby and I got the box combo to share which comes with four chicken fingers, fries, and two pieces of Texas toast (we got the extra toast instead of coleslaw). We also got a couple of extra Cane's sauces to ensure we had enough. I know this is just fast food, but boy was it good. The chicken tenders were crunchy on the outside, but not too crunchy, they were just right while still being soft and juicy on the inside. The French fries were crinkly cut, hot and also quite good, but that Cane's sauce, yeah it's crack. I would put that sh*t on a shoe and I'm confident the shoe would then be edible. You thought I forgot about the toast? Nope! The toast was bomb, buttery and perfectly toasty but soft, and if you are wondering if we made a chicken tender sandwich, the answer is "you're damn right we did!" Go here! It is indeed worth the hype!

Yelp
Food is fresh and made to order ! You have to tell them WELL WELL done Tenders ! So it will be cooked all the way on the inside . Service has always been pleasant and friendly !

Yelp
Welp, I guess it's official. Raising Cane's has changed their recipe. The chicken fingers are now tiny. The breading is completely different. It lacks the flavor and crunch it once had. WHY? WHY? WHY? This is so incredibly disturbing. The breading and size was what made Canes fingers so great. This is absolutely pitiful. This location has tanked. Got just a tiny little touch of fries in my box. And they were cold, soggy, and undercooked. The only good thing left now is the Canes sauce. The size of the dipping cups have gotten smaller, though. And given their change in the chicken recipe, it's probably only a matter of time before their sauce disappoints too. This was our final attempt at this location. And given this chicken and breading change, it will be our final at any location ever.

Yelp
This is my first time ever going to Raising Cane's. There is also one where I live but the lines are usually too long for me. Today there was no line at this location inside Union Station so I decided to go in. I got the box combo with crinkle cut fries, coleslaw, Texas toast and chicken fingers with their signature sauce. M The Server was very nice and bubbly and my order came out in a timely fashion. The store was very bright and clean and I felt that the energy was good. I decided to take the food back to my office and eat it there. A couple of People stopped me along the way to ask how was the food? I told them I was about to find out. One Young Gentleman said it was all about "the sauce". The sauce is different-I will give them that. I can't put my finger on the flavors. The food was good but not overwhelmingly so to me. Maybe the build up to the opening was just too great. I will definitely need to visit again to test it out.

Yelp
Food is hot! Restaurant is clean! Staff are professional, efficient, and welcoming! Sweet Tea is perfect! What more can you ask for?! Cheers to a great time!

Alaura E.

Yelp
The service was quick and efficient despite the long line! Food was pretty fresh and you can never go wrong with these tenders! I love the Canes Sauce so much so I got two. There is no inside seating so you can only order to go which makes sense since it's in a commuter station. I love that you can order or the app! It makes things a lot easier!

Jimmy D.

Yelp
There's a reason this place has such bad ratings. Salt! Salt! Salt! Everything from this place is inedible! The food is sooo bad. I don't understand how this place exist. The coleslaw is what you would expect from the year 2000, minced! Everything is overly salted and then their sauce! Their sauce is also salty. Worst food I have had in a long time.

Yelp
I visited today as part of the grand opening. This was my first time ever at a Raising Cane's and the food, service, and ambiance was all good. The grand opening was very well organized, it ran smoothly, and it ran on time. There were lots of staff around providing directions. Kudos to the organizers. The store is located next to the McDonald's at the end of the main train waiting area. The store design is clean, bright, and open, so it feels energetic and welcoming. There are a few high top tables to stand and eat, but no seating (at least today). There are 3-4 registers to place orders. My order was taken quickly and prepared quickly. I got the three piece combo: 3 pc chicken tenders, fries, texas toast, Cane's sause, and fountain sweet tea for $10.90 pre-tax. All of the food was good. I can't say it blew me away -- it's fast food chicken tenders, after all -- but it's good. I was curious, so here's a comparison to the McDonald's, Wendy's, and Chick-fil-a also in Union Station, all prices pre-tax. McDonald's: $10.29 for 10 pc nugget combo. Wendy's: $11.39 for 10 pc nugget combo. Chick-fil-a: $11.59 for 3 pc tenders combo. (price actually from the Chinatown location because the Union Station one doesn't use the mobile app, lame) McD's and Wendy's don't sell chicken tenders anymore, also lame. So Raising Cane's is competitively priced. I would definitely pick it over the option options, unless they are running good promos.
google avatar

Brianna G.

Yelp
I love raising canes but this is the worst location ever. I'm not a big complainer and I kept going because I do like it. But then they gave me raw chicken, always messed up order, made me pay for extra sauce and then wouldn't give it to me, gave me old tea that tasted terrible. If you can go to another location please do. And I have contacted customer service and they don't do anything.
google avatar

Tessa A.

Yelp
Every thing is fried. Over fried to the point where you are just eating dry chicken and flavorless batter. You can add hot sauce to make it better. I don't get the hype. The ambiance is too loud to have a conversation unless you decide to talk over the all the noise becoming one with the noise. The customer service is great and seating is nice and spacious.

Yelp
Upon entering. You're NOT greeted. You're greeted upon getting to the counter however. ,The ventilation is very good due to the open environment shared with union station. The atmosphere is very modern compared to the other places inside union station. Also the lighting is better as well. The employees are very friendly and social. Not professional however. There have been numerous occasions in which the kitchen is filled with employees joking around with only one register open which clearly indicates "mismanagement" due to the lack of proper delegation of tasks among the employees. There is no seating. Only standing tables currently. **SEE PICS**. The pricing is not bad for 2024 on the smaller meals. When you look past the four piece tender meal however. The pricing makes completely zero sense. An additional tender by itself is around $2 but based on the math between the meal pricing. It's $3+ depending on which meal you order. The six piece is nowhere near worth the price tag. Around $21 after tax. The portion sizes are where this location FAILS. Despite paying heavily inflated prices for chicken tenders. They're essentially equivalent to CFA sized tenders almost. Paying premium prices should equal receiving your monies worth. Especially crossing the $20 mark for chicken tenders. But despite receiving small tenders. The real estate in the box regarding the portion of fries are also usually lacking as well. Potatoes are one of the cheapest ingredients but yet you're not able to receive a decent portion size for the premium price. After notifying the staff about the small tenders. They didn't seem to care which would indicate customer service is definitely NOT prioritized at this location. The food is usually hot and fresh however. Just very small portions for the price. The fountain drinks are very good especially the lemonade. They're not watered down or syrup tasting. Which means the water/syrup ratio is perfect in the fountain machine which is a MAJOR PLUS.... The overall cleanliness can vary depending on the time of day. **SEE PICS**. The noise level is normal for a retail environment. It can however get loud at times due to the amount of employees in the kitchen area. The general crowd is mainly usually adults. Some kids. The line usually moves fast due to the simplified menu which is a plus. Overall. This is the best place for chicken tenders within union station CURRENTLY. The portion sizes however leave a lot to be desired for the premium price.

Yelp
First Raising Cane's in DC? We in there. We got a sneak peek today and the chicken fingers were juicy and the cane's sauce was... well, it's CANE'S SAUCE! It's one of my favorite sauces of all time. The coleslaw and crinkle cut fries were just okay, but it's fast food so what do you expect? Oh and I almost forgot about the Texas Toast! I could eat that toast everyday. Say what you will about this place, but they are here to stay. Hope they maintain the quality and exceptional customer service!

Yelp
Good looking and clean restaurant, as it should be being brand new as of January. Service was amazing. People were friendly and seems to be a good work environment. The food is pretty good. I wish the fries and chicken were a little more crispy.. I ordered and walked back to office within 5 mins and it was not super crispy. Definitely needs some extra seasoning or something as well.. I added hot sauce to sauce and it was much better!

Yelp
My Southern friends & I decided to take a much needed foodie trip to Raising Cane's today. A location in DC was LONG overdue. Although the line was very long, it did move along pretty quickly, and I really do appreciate that. I know grand opening week can be hectic for any establishment, but I think management did a really good job keeping everything afloat by helping the lines move quicker than usual & getting orders out to customers in a fast and efficient manner. I do like the interior of Raising Cane's. The inside was a mixture of the mascot and also a disco vibe. It is very lively and upbeat. Sometimes, good (Southern) chain restaurants that come to DC tend to lower their quality & price hike. Thankfully, we did not have this happen with Raising Cane's, though the prices are a bit higher. I ordered the Box Combo ($12.99) without the coleslaw and substituted it with an extra piece of toast. Additionally, I sized up on my lemonade for a large one and an extra Cane's sauce, bringing my order total to $15ish. The sauce alone is to die for. My only complaint is that the tenders could use more breading. Despite that, the chicken tenders pair well with the sauce. It's ideal to get extra toast! Whenever I come back, I'll be sure to keep the coleslaw on my order. I've had Raising Cane's before, but only once in Boston, Massachusetts. It was pretty decent there. I am so glad that the DC location tastes even better, and I definitely see myself becoming a recurring customer. The food is served fresh and it's quite tasty. I could be biased because I am a Southern Belle, and Raising Cane's originated in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Either way, it's certainly worth visiting on a recurring basis. If you are a Southerner in the DC/DMV area or someone from a non-Southern state that loves Raising Cane's & missing your fix, I highly recommend coming to their Union Station location. It is easily metro accessible (inside Union Station on the main level).

Yelp
The line wasn't that long for the first day and they had a controlled entry to manage the crowd. But it was long enough to meet some eccentric people at the train station! The tables were not set up yet and were arranged to channel the line. I thought they looked pretty cool and found what appeared to be the signature of the artist who made them, and took a picture of it. Maybe one day it will slow down enough to actually sit down at one but something tells me it wont be any time soon.

Yelp
New location opening 1/9/24! Went for the soft opening and the food was amazing! Raising Cane's is slowly moving up north and I'm so happy. The service was amazing, all the workers were so nice and welcoming. Cute interior and vibe going on.

Yelp
I was surprised to see a Cane's in Union Station, but I was grateful. Cane's is definitely one of my fav fast food restaurants! I think this location was really busy though, and it wasn't clear where to stand when the line got way too long. But if you're standing in the wrong place, staff gets a little annoyed! That's not the biggest deal though, but it wasn't really helping an already long, delayed train type of day. The chicken is pretty good--I've definitely been to better Cane's locations where you get larger pieces of chicken, but I can't really complain too much about it. There isn't much seating area in the Cane's itself, but you'll be able to find seating outside of it without an issue. Overall, I thought my experience was fine but definitely nothing to write home about.

Yelp
This was my first time having Raising Canes. For context, I was there at about 12:30pm and I did a mobile order. I ordered the 6 piece combo. As others have mentioned, it was a bit difficult to find the location. It's on the ground level sort of tucked in a corner (to the right side if you are entering Union Station). I had assumed it was in the food court initially. When I got there, it was pretty busy. I waited in what I thought was the mobile order line (because there was a sign that stated it was for mobile orders above the line I was in), but it wasn't actually a line? I'm not really sure. Once I went around that "line" and up to the mobile order counter, my food was already ready. The staff member distributing the mobile orders was friendly. Overall, I feel like it was just a bit chaotic in there, so I was glad that I ordered ahead and didn't wait in line to order. But I'm sure that was due to it being prime lunch time. As for the food, it was good, but I was a bit underwhelmed, unfortunately. I think because of all of the hype. Because it wasn't *bad* by any means. The chicken tenders were juicy and meaty and tasted very fresh. I thought they were seasoned pretty well. I had sort of expected them to be a bit crisper, but I did start to like the fact that they were mostly meat and that the breading was a thin coat. The fries were fine. The coleslaw was not my favorite (but I'm picky about coleslaw). The Texas toast was savory and buttery, but I didn't feel like it added much to the meal. The Canes sauce was also good, but I didn't think it was anything outstanding. My items were very hot and fresh, so no complaints there. I also thought it was very filling, and I could not finish the 6 piece, which was good to know for the future (I've had chicken tenders other fast food places that were pretty tiny). So, I liked the food, but I would probably only go back for the chicken tenders. And even then, I'd likely choose other options at Union Station over Raising Canes. That said, mobile ordering was convenient, staff was friendly in my minimal interactions with them, and the chicken (the main event) *was* better than other places that I've had.

Yelp
Been to a few Cane's in my travels around the country and this one, in D.C.'s Union Station, is the best I've been to. Why? The food was super fresh and piping hot. And the usual good Cane's. On top of that while it was busy, they kept the line moving fast and food coming out fast. It was much quicker then it looked it would. The only problem is there is only standing in their store and downstairs at the food court, where there are tables, the homeless continually bother you for food and change -- but that's on the station and not Cane's, so 5*.

Yelp
Horrible customer service as you could expect from anywhere in Waldorf Maryland. Bunch of degenerates trying to run something that could easily go smoothly but unable to do so because they do not care.

Yelp
This was my first time eating here. The food definitely hit the spot, and the staff was friendly

Yelp
The chicken is unseasoned. The staff are rude and will not give you Louisiana hot sauce/ketchup. The ambiance is nice but the floor is dirty. While I love the sauce, I will never return here based on the totality of circumstance. I also overheard staff being rude to employees behind the counter. It just seems as though the staff is not focused on producing great chicken This is why I love Popeyes only - consistency.

Yelp
It seems Sundays are the busiest but the wait wasn't rereally long the service was good and the food was excellent the skin of the chicken and the chicken meat has a lot of flavor. The fries are never burnt nor dry and over all it's a good environment

Yelp
I thought that chicken fingers were pretty good. Not greasy and the perfect amount of breading. The fries were skinny crinkle cut. I'm not a fan of crinkle cut in general, but they were ok. I wouldn't get them again. Cane's sauce tasted like mustard mixed with some other things. It was kind of like an aioli. Texas Toast was interesting. I thought it would be crispy like the frozen kind, but it was soft. Maybe it was because I waited too long to eat it. Overall, the chicken was pretty good. Location was a little hard to find from the metro, but if you head back to the Amtrak ticketing counter, you'll see a sign by the stairs. I ordered online and only had to wait maybe 5 min or less.

Yelp
My first experience at Raising Cane's and probably my last. I went here at 7PM on a Saturday, and the chicken fingers had minimal breading, were not crunchy at all, and were extremely salty. I really don't know what the hype is about.

Yelp
decent location inside union station, seems to always be busy, you can order online and skip the line. everything is as good as others, great tenders (although felt a bit small on the last trip), decent fries, good texas toast, passable slaw, great sauce.

Yelp
I ordered the Cainiac combo- first time getting Raising Cane's. Overall, I'd give it more like a 3.5/5, but yelp won't let me do that so I'm just rounding up. As for ambiance, I doordashed, so I can't speak to that at all, same for service- my dasher was on time lol but that tells you nothing. All I came here to write about was the food, because I saw that this place seems pretty controversial and I wanted to give my take as to why I think that is. chicken fingers: WARNING: If you like your chicken heavily seasoned and/or spicy, this is not the spot for you. However, if texture is your priority with wings, this is IT. FLAVOR: mild, lightly salted. Their sauce is similar to thousand island and is mandatory imo or you'll be sad. Personally, next time I'm gonna order extra sauce and add tobasco (again, I doordashed, so if I wanted I could just doctor it up a bit). 3/5, NBD. TEXTURE: easily the best textured chicken strips I've found so far. Juicy, light breading like panko, crispy outside and soft inside. The sauce being separate is definitely the move with these because it makes it perfect when you take that first freshly-dipped bite. 5/5. coleslaw: mildly sweet, mayoey but not greasy. Not amazing, though, so I give it a solid 4/5. buttered toast: underwhelming, not gonna lie to ya. Not sure why it's in there? 2/5 because again the texture is there as in nice balance of crispy and soft, but there's not even garlic or pepper, it is literally butter + toast and feels like a weird add-on. tea + lemonade: I ordered unsweet tea with lemonade because I don't personally like sweet tea unless I'm out all day in the sun. Tea is a little underbrewed but not bland, lemonade hits just right, and I appreciate that they offer the whole range (unsweet or sweet, lemonade, or a half and half of both). 4/5. Generally, I don't care that the buttered toast is in there, and if you're hungry it's nice just to help you fill up. Overall: 4/5, but it's a 4/5 for a very specific type of wing/strips enjoyer. To reiterate, if you like spicy/wet/heavily breaded/heavily seasoned chicken, don't go here! You will be very upset. I'm someone who can get behind a wide variety of flavors and textures so long as they don't burn my mouth off and they have decent flavor, so for me, this is a 4/5 when hungry, perhaps a 3/5 when eating purely for mouth joy. I would go back here when hungry and craving wings, would not go here just to eat a small treat. These averaged out come to 3.5/5, which is my personal overall rating for my meal.

Yelp
it's alot of haters when it comes to raising canes I spoke with customers and they I kid you not was eating the food for the 5th time and said this is the worst food why come back? while it is on the bland side the overall food and service was great just wish they had chairs.

Yelp
Man this place is very friendly, clean. The staff always smiling. Good Energy. Would give it a 5 but for some reason the fries are always overly salty. So i have to settle just the bread and Tenders. Still good and reasonable price. Cant go wrong with the lemonade

Yelp
unseason chicken fingers = average Cole slaw was a mix of veggies and mayo=. French fries were descent but, barely enough. . The Caine's sauce tastes of mayo and vinegar . Sweet Tea = average. You have to have no taste buds to say this place has good chicken.

Yelp
Favorite restaurant but when it's being ran by GED mouth breathers that don't know how a line works it'll piss off even the realest Caniac, went in and those mfs waved me down to a different register then after waiting five minutes the manager tapped on my shoulder and told me to go wait in the back of the line, couldn't believe it. Great chicken tho.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Raising Canes. I had a horrible experience, starting with the customer service. The manager, who claimed his name to be Louie, was extremely rude, and unprofessional. I decided not to order because of the severity of his service. He set the tone for what will now be my only experience at Raising Canes.

Yelp
The food was very mid and the sauce is very nasty tastes just like onions. The service was okay but it was very long line for just chicken tenders. For ambiance I enjoyed it, the only thing I liked.

Yelp
I waited in a long line, as they had just opened. They are still busy, but no long lines any more. I took the meal to the downstairs food court at Union Station, so ate the food piping hot. Eating their food immediately may be key to the experience. Efficient service. Friendly personnel. Texas toast unbelievably tasty. Everything was above average except the fries, which were OK. But the wonderful Canes sauce elevated those ordinary fries.

Yelp
I recently attended the grand opening of Raising Cane's at Union Station and holy cow was it fun. The chicken fingers box combo was super savory and well-prepared. The staff here are super friendly and peppy. Love the interior with the cute puppy in the corner. I'll definitely stop by anytime I have to take the Amtrak.
