A very innovative Japanese–Spanish fusion restaurant with genuinely tasty dishes. The way Spanish ingredients are combined with Japanese techniques works surprisingly well and feels well thought out rather than forced. The turnip leaves risotto rice is especially good — full of flavor and nicely balanced. They also offer a great selection of Spanish wines and sparkling options, which pair perfectly with the food. You can really feel the chef’s talent and creativity in every dish. Overall, a unique and memorable dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something nice!

Highly recommended. Great dishes by a wonderfully, kind Chef. My favorite was his take on paella and the rice was crispy to perfection! Great clean, minimal yet warm atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back.

We dined here on Christmas Day, and the experience was truly unforgettable. The restaurant presents an innovative interpretation of Spanish cuisine, crafted primarily with locally sourced ingredients that bring remarkable freshness and depth to each dish. The young chef’s talent is exceptional—his cooking is creative, confident, and deeply respectful of tradition. Having dined at Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, we can confidently say his work stands out The interior is equally impressive: a harmonious blend of modern comfort and thoughtful design, subtly woven with elements of traditional Kyoto Japanese architecture. Every detail, from the beautifully composed plates to the warm, attentive service, contributes to an atmosphere of quiet elegance. We enjoyed many memorable meals during this journey, but this was, without question, the finest.

We ate here on a Saturday evening at the bar. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The food was elegant and delicious. The chef was very kind and we were impressed with his skills. Highly recommend eating here.

Congratulations to Chef Ioka. It’s a very new restaurant. Some things have to be fine-tuned, but I’m sure Raiz can only get better from here! By sheer coincidence, I happened to come across Raiz on Google maps and decided to give it a try. ¥8000 per pax for three people, one young chef running the place alone, nine courses, and he tried his best to explain the dishes and accept criticism. I think it was well worth the price. The wine recommended was good and he helped book a taxi after our meal, which made our return back to the hotel much easier. Critiques: - Giving the bread in the middle of the meal felt a little awkward. I’m sorry that I can’t give suggestions because I’m not trained in any culinary traditions either… I think the French get bread at the start of the meal. It was good homemade bread. - Duck would have been tastier if the skin was crispy and the fat more rendered. Maybe an additional broil or skin-side sear. - The size of utensils for some courses felt a little awkward. - my sorbet melted too quickly, especially the persimmon, which was a great pity. I really wanted to enjoy it slowly! - I would have preferred a small spoon for the tea and coffee without having to ask for it. Just a personal opinion. I gave my opinion seriously and I hope this helps Chef Ioka and anyone who wants to try Raiz. My parents and I enjoyed ourselves. The place is great and to see Ioka in his element managing the flow of dishes is great. I wish to come back one day.

I’ve been here for lunch and dinner and both times the meals have been superb

Superb in every aspect: the taste, the composition, the presentation, the ambient, the service. A kind, young, talented chef skillfully prepares a menu of elegant, delicate, delicious, beatiful dishes. Given very high quality, the price is very reasonable. One of the highlights of our Kyoto culinary experience.
