The Best Restaurants in Mira Mesa | Eater San Diego

"Chef Junya Watanabe branched out from his original Convoy Street location with an outpost that serves favorites like the black edition ramen as well as creative concoctions like Rikimaru oxtail ramen with 12-ounces of braised protein accompanied by a dipping sauce of serrano peppers in a red miso paste. The lunchtime ramen combo is a terrific deal, including ramen, appetizers like chicken karaage, and a Sapporo." - Helen I. Hwang

RakiRaki Ramen Expanding Into Tokyo-Style Fried Chicken - Eater San Diego

"The fried chicken craze shows no sign of stopping and the latest to join the fray is an extension of RakiRaki Ramen & Tsukemen. Called Junya’s Crispy Karaage, or JCK for short, it was created by owner and executive chef Junya Watanabe, who reportedly collaborated with a Michelin-starred chef in Tokyo to develop his ultimate karaage — a Japanese-style of fried food in which the meat is marinated prior to frying; the technique is most common with chicken. Chicken karaage has been a popular item on RakiRaki’s existing menu, but Watanabe has refined the recipe for JCK, which involves a shoyu-based marinade and is double-fried in a coating of Japanese spices. A spicy version of the chicken is also new. Though it could be a stand-alone concept eventually, Junya’s Crispy Karaage will first launch on Monday, February 22 as a special offering at RakiRaki locations in Kearny Mesa, Mira Mesa, and Liberty Station." - Candice Woo

Me and my buddy finishes walking Mir Mar lake and stopped by for a quick bite. I chose Rakiraki over Nishiki since it wasn't a chain and the atmosphere looked promising. I got a vegetarian ramen with extra noodles, I tried to confirm that the ramen was vegan. And the server said it wasn't. I asked for clarification about what wasn't vegan and he didn't know. I asked if it was the broth or noodles and he said he can asked the kitchen, but then said they probably "can't guarantee it's vegan due to cross contamination." I proceeded with the order anyways. I asked for a spice ball and asked the waiter how spicy it was. I explained I liked things really spicy and asked on a scale of 1-10 how spicy it was. He wasn't sure but insisted I could get an extra ball for free so I agreed. The food came out quickly and looked promising. I had a can of green tea and was ready. My friend prayed over the food when I realized I didn't get my spice ball. The waiter then provided two for me. Landed both and we ate. Despite the extra noodles I was not full, and the spice balls were kind of a joke, I didn't even break a sweat which was disappointing. My friend likes his ramen and said it was good but complained about his side of meat saying there was too much fat in it (he did have a huge chunk of fat on top of all the extra fat in the cuts). Overall the food was fine, not filling but not bad. But ultimately forgettable in all honesty. I will not likely be returning as it wasn't worth the $65 for two mediocre meals. Sorry! 😬

I love coming here and have been coming on Mondays. The servers are awesome no matter what. However, my complaint regards the kitchen staff. On Mondays it's usually not busy but the food takes FOREVER to come out!!!! Today it was the ramen. Appetizer came out quick! Most Mondays both take forever. I noticed that everytime the server takes an order he has to physically go get the chefs from wherever they are. And the kitchen is pretty visible, they are ALWAYS on their phones talking or doing everything but making the food. It's ridiculous and I can see why it takes so long, THEY ARE ALWAYS ON THEIR PHONES!! Ty had to apologize multiple times about the wait time for food and I get that it's not his fault but this is ridiculous. On top of that, last week, I decided to come in on a weekday morning and ordered my usual appetizer with a ramen. This time, the appetizer took forever but the ramen came out instantly. What's the deal with this?? 30 minutes for garlic edamame is just completely insane. Again, no complaints about the service but the wait time for the food is way too long.

Came in at 6pm on a Sunday. Got the happy hour hot sake for $3.95, the black edition ramen for $20(worth it!), tempura Kabocha roll to go. Start to finish, great service. The guys were so attentive, kind and genuine. Much appreciated! I lived in L.A. for several years and have had some amazing ramen. This might be the best. Super fresh! Especially the pork. Love the presentation for the Ramen too. Chill R&B vibes and nice decor. 10/10! Keep it up. I live in north county, but I’ll be back. :D

Google
Rakiraki has to be one of the top 3 Ramen spots in San Diego! But this location is my absolute favorite. They do everything right and maintain consistency every single time! It was a Friday night around 5 and it was a little busy but thankfully there was a table open. It was right in front of the AC unit so it made us really cold! We asked to move and there were no more tables open so we moved to the bar. They took our order promptly and the food came out around 10 minutes after placing our order. I usually get the Shabu Shabu ramen but this day I got the Original Hakata Tonkatsu Ramen with chashu pork.. big mistake.. :/ the pork wasn’t not chashu at all. It was tough and not the right cut to be called chashu. Really ruined the meal for me and I wish I would have stuck to the shabu shabu. Honestly if it was chashu then they game me the crumbs of it cuz they advertise the ramen with a SLICE of chashu pork in the photo.. and if that is the case I didn’t appreciate it.. My cousin ordered the Akasaka K-Town Kimchee Ramen. It was a little spicy but had great flavor. She enjoyed it very much. We also ordered the jump fried gyoza which is pretty bland inside and lacks flavor but I don’t come here for those.. and the chicken karaage which isn’t really Karaage cuz it isn’t fried in the traditional way, it’s really just fried chicken thighs not cut properly so when you bit into it, it tears awkwardly .. but I don’t come here for that either.. just the ramen. Anyways I love coming here for the ramen but I guess I shouldn’t change it up and also this last visit I was pretty let down honestly..

What we ordered: • ikageso karaage (fried squid) • takoyaki • all star ramen • ox tail tsukemen • milk tea • strawberry ramune We normally get the chicken karaage but this time went with the squid and it was sooo good and fried perfectly! Dipping noodles are always a fun, and I don’t know of many places that have tsukemen so we always have to get it here. They have a braised oxtail version that was very flavorful with the tender oxtail falling off the bone! The All-Star Ramen was definitely my favorite. This Ramen has fire-flamed underbelly and comes with kurobuta spare ribs and jumbo crispy gyoza. The tonkatsu broth was amazing and enhanced with black garlic and red chili oil 🤤 it was a big portion and I definitely had leftovers for the next day!

Google
Yummy ramen at Rakiraki in Mira Mesa! We really enjoyed our kurobuta and Shabu Shabu ramen, as well as the poke sushi roll and the vegetarian green-gyoza. Nice they have pitchers of Sapporo. Very friendly and quick service. Recommend!

Google
Definitely liked the ramen here. 😋 the brother was packed with flavor. We had Gyoza pork and had it pan fried, they were huge and filling! 5 big fatties, the picture just didn't give the size justice. I highly recommend them. The layout is nice, it's open, and looks to accommodate big parties. We sat on the bar which had a very large flat screen for the sports, and even gives you a little peak into the kitchen. We went on a Sunday lunch and it was very crowded, but we sat instantly because we were only a couple. And for high volume I gotta point out the bathroom was very clean. I think the sushi rolls were not too unique, like the caterpillar doesn't have eel, pretty much they are all California rolls with cream cheese, and maybe with a twist like making it crunchy. It would have been nice to enjoy some good rolls with this awesome ramen. Hence the 4 stars.

Google
The karaage had too much breading and the chicken got dry. Vegetarian dumpling was okay, wasn't sticking well, they falling apart soon as you pick then up. We tried the shabu shabu ramen and yakiniku short rib tonkatsu. Both of us preferred ramen topped with chashu. Broth on both ramen tasted the same. No had to issues with that.

Yelp
Can I be honest? Prices were decent. Server was great. Seated right away especially for a Sunday. Space was cozy and tables were spaciously spaced. Food tasted better as leftovers btw. But just some of the observations, and sharing this constructively... chicken karaage was pretty dry. I'm sensing it was cooked for too long. It didn't feel like a premium appetizer. It was more like an afterthought based off execution. Loved the sauce options. Also ordered a size of ox tail. This was the star of the show. Lots of pieces and falling OFF THE BONE. I'd like it with a little more salt. My fam ordered the curry ramen and they said the pork slices were extremely dry. They had to take it out of the ramen and eat the broth separately. I guess this was also overdone. There didn't seem to be any fat on the slices. Enjoyed the visit. Hoping things get adjusted in the kitchen because the taste doesn't align with the value right now. I'm wishing y'all the best still!

Yelp
The best lunch combo special!!! You get to pick two items from the lunch menu for less than $16! I had original tonkatsu ramen with prime black angus beef donburi, which was enough for two meals! They were a bit salty for my taste but the flavor was very good. The pork was thick and juicy...sooo good. There are more than 15 items on the menu to choose from. You will want to go back to try them all. They take reservations but they only sit you when the whole party is there. The parking in that area is very limited.
google avatar

Yelp
Say what??? Automatically charged 18% tip for 4 people? Well, I guess we won't be coming back to this OVERPRICED mediocre place anymore. $130 for 2 bowls of ramen, 1 pork belly rice bowl, 1 katsu curry rice, and chicken kaarage Rice in the Donburi was leftover rice, rice was still cold, egg was very runny, and pork belly was chewy. Ramen was too firm (under cook), meat was too chewy. Katsu was super dry over cold rice. Waste of money!!!

Yelp
Great service, extremely delicious food, nice calm restaurant with ample parking. Came on a Saturday night for dinner @5pm. Found easy parking. Got a table immediately. Note, employees were changing shifts so it took a little long to place an order. Food came out quickly. The way they serve the ramen bowls is cute and practical with a cover on your bowl. Ramen was so good, we each really enjoyed our bowls. Perfect size, perfect flavor and not too salty like many other places. Noodles perfectly cooked. Even our karaage was nice and tender. No complaints on food at all! Just know though, you are paying for really delicious ramen, so it's a few bucks more than other places but I think it was well worth the price and quality. I love that we don't have to drive all the way to convoy and fight for parking, then wait forever on a list to get a table! Will be back again for our next ramen craving.

Yelp
The BEST RAMEN in San Diego? If you're ever craving ramen in San Diego, definitely check out Rakiraki Ramen & Tsukemen! Their ramen is so rich, full of flavor, delicious, and they use MOCHI noodles! I love the Rakimaru Miso with Rakiraki Hakata Tonkotsu Broth because it just has the perfect heaviness to it without being overbearing! The meats were also very soft and delicious! Now onto talking about the Appetizers, we got the Chicken Karaage and the Stuffed Jalapeño Tempura. Let me tell you, the Chicken Karaage was the best Karaage I've ever had . I usually don't like Chicken Karaage that much, but this changed my mind. It was HUGE, tasty, and crispy! And I want it again. The best chicken Karaage... DEFINITELY check this place out if you're in San Diego! The Stuffed Jalapeño Tempura was good, but I'd opt to get another chicken Karaage! The restaurant is also very cute inside and really nice for a dinner with friends or even a casual date! Ig: @asianphatty (for more content and full video)

Yelp
I came here and met up with a friend for lunch. I been wanting to try this place for sometime, my friend was already waiting for me when I got there so I just sat right away. When I sat down and aired for the server to come and it took maybe like 10-15 mins for them to take our order so it took away a star for me. The food came out after they finally took our order pretty promptly. I got the tonkatsu ramen and my friend got the dipping noodles. Overall the broth was really good and the meat tasted really good as well. We also got an order of kargarage which was good to dip in my soup. Overall the loxarion was a little empty for lunch time but I'm pretty sure it's busy on the weekends. I would want to come back again and give it another try hopefully the servers might be a little more attentive, but overall the atmosphere of the restaurant was good.

Yelp
The best ramen !! I went to meet a friend during lunch break. Ordered the spicy miso tonkatsu ramen with Underbelly. Noodles were fresh and amazing. Ramen had pickled onions and garlic chips ... YUM. I will be back for sure over and over again :)

Yelp
Lots of ramen options and seating was busy but still able to get seated quickly. They have a ton of different kinds of ramen and I feel like what differentiates them is that the meat was pretty thick I feel compared to other places

Yelp
We were greeted immediately with a smile and seated within five minutes. The restaurant was clean, had plenty of seating and comfortably sat our table of five. I got the kimchi ramen (added an egg, spicy miso). 7/10 The noodles were the perfect texture for me, firm and chewy. The meat (chopped underbelly) was a thick, heavy bone with tender, slightly sweet flavorful meat. I felt like an amateur and struggled holding it with chopsticks. I gave my partner a bite and it slipped out of the chopsticks and plopped into his bowl. The kimchi was yum, as were all the fixings. The egg had a slightly firmer yolk but was still flavorful and yummy. My partner got the seasonal oxtail ramen. He rated the dish a 5/10. He was sad that it tasted reminiscent of a pho broth. (He's not a fan of pho, crazy right?) It was a very light broth and the oxtail itself was very tender but was served in a very basic, clear broth on the side. He ended up asking for salt, chili powder and chili oil to doctor it up and give the ramen broth some more depth. My partner described the dish overall as bland. He did enjoy my ramen selection though! My son (10 years old) got the red edition ramen. He rated the ramen a 9/10. "I liked that it was good, I liked the stuff in it" were his comments. Lol. The service was pretty good, the restaurant got packed toward the end of our visit and our waiter checked in on us and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, this place is totally worth making a trip to again.

Yelp
RakiRaki is a great spot in Mira Mesa! Decorated beautifully with a ton of seating. Fast, friendly service and delicious food, my favorite was the spicy miso ramen. Such flavorful broths. Also this location has sufficient parking which is a huge plus!
google avatar

Reggie S.

Yelp
We tried the one in Mira Mesa because the one on Convoy has challenging parking lol. The place is pretty nice and staff are very friendly. We tried 3 different ramens on the menu. The broth was pretty good. The noodles could use improvement though, and the chasiu was a little dry...but overall the ramen was still pretty good and I would still recommend this place to try out.
google avatar

Donathon C.

Yelp
Still my favorite Ramen Place in San Diego. I'm glad there's now a location closer to me in Mira Mesa. The staff here is always friendly The food is always consistently good The restaurant is always clean Not sure what else you could ask for We typically always get the Miso Tonkotsu Ramen and the Spicy Miso Ramen And we always get the spicy, garlic edamame If you are craving ramen and you are north of Miramar... this is your spot !
google avatar

Denise M.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time on Sunday! And it was so good that I had to go a second time! I got the chicken karage, spicy miso tonkotsu ramen, and the original hakata tonkotsu ramen. 10/10 for all three! The service was quick and the ambiance was nice. We went when there wasn't many people so the experience was pretty tranquil. I will be back! =)
google avatar

Silvia L.

Yelp
Ordered red and black edition, both are so great. They also have the short ribs option for protein which seems not common. Although Takoyaki and fried chicken are just ok ok, I will definitely would recommend their ramen.
google avatar

Jailen T.

Yelp
Ambiance and food here doesn't live up to the experience as the convoy location, especially in terms of the oxtail ramen BUT it's still good. I like coming to this location if I don't want to wait and still want some good ramen. For reference, came on a Saturday at 7pm with a party of 12 and had no wait. All menu items are relatively safe to order. Garlic edamame, karaage, etc. If you're unsure go with the super exclusive menu items. I recently tried the kimchi ramen and I really enjoyed it. Their tonkotsu broth is delicious and creamy. The waiters were so nice and friendly. Very conversational. Service was on point.
google avatar

WILLIAM P.

Yelp
The Ramen is one of the best in San Diego. Incredible selection and Service. Plains setting with a Hugh looking sitting arrangement. Had some problem with how the credit card was run, but all was resolved in the end.
google avatar

Raymond N.

Yelp
Took my family here recently as they were craving some ramen. The atmosphere was chill and the place was full. We were able to be seated right away which was good. Everyone placed a order for the ramen they wanted. I decided to try the ox tail ramen. I was surprised at the amount of food that was given. The oxtail was tender and falling off the bone. While the ramen itself had a nice chew and the broth was very delicate. I wish it was more heavy handed with flavor as the broth was very light but clean. The overall meal was good. The one downside was that a fly fell into the water cup but thankfully I was able to see it before accidentally drink from the cup. Not a bad place for ramen overall
google avatar

Jovana D.

Yelp
The food here is so good this is the 5 time we've come since last month the ramen we order always taste so good and has the same flavor each time service is really good too , and the place is really cute with a bunch of flowers and good vibes

Yelp
We went to Rakiraki for a birthday dinner and WOWOWOWOWOW what a fun night! First of all, the entire placed has been coached up on customer service. Normally, I don't think much of service that is good because you would hope that would be what you receive when dining out. However, our server, Shanti and the entire team were above and beyond. It was almost like they could read our minds and were helping us before we could even ask for it. We ordered a wide assortment of Ramen, Rolls, and some Edamame to start. Everything was amazing. There was a lot of sharing at our table. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and it was mouthwatering. I would definitely come back to order different things on this menu, because it all looked amazing. The prices are fair for Ramen. I think anytime the 5 of us can dine for under $100, then it's pretty remarkable, so Rakiraki gets a bonus star for that! Lastly, the atmosphere was very homey. Almost like I was having Ramen in someone's house. There was a very familial feel to the restaurant with a lot of different members of the staff greeting us, or pitching in to help out with our table. Rakiraki is a huge win for us! I can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Maria C.

Yelp
The last time I went to Rakiraki was at the Convoy location way before Covid and when it was the most popular ramen to be and to be seen at. It was always so crowded and the wait was always long. So many years later, this location pops up in the Mecca. We came for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon. We were the only patrons for about a half hour before another couple arrived to dine in. There were several orders ready to be picked up so many patrons tend to take out. We ordered the chicken karaage $15 and the signature shoyu ramen with charsui $16 to share. It was good for 2 people and we still had a couple pieces of chicken left over. The prices def went up from the last time I visited. The ramen noodles were al dente and fine. The broth was good, but thought it would be more flavorful. Not much bean sprouts which I was disappointed because I love that crunch factor. Too much bamboo shoots for me so took some out. The broth came out warm and not hot so we had to eat it fast. The chicken came out piping hot and the portion was good for 2 people. There were 3 sauces that came with it which all paired well with the chicken. A spicy mayo, mayo, and a teriyaki or shoyu of some sort. Service was great. The young employees were friendly and attentive. Location is next to Manila Fast Food and a laundry mat in the Rite Aid shopping center. Lots of free and ample parking.

Yelp
Rakiraki is probably my to go spot if we wanted ramen. It's one of the few restaurants that opens late on convoy st. So it's most accessible. We got: Black edition ramen: jukusei fermentation Original tonkotsu ramen Super ultimate edition: oxtail ramen Their broth are always good but don't really taste any different from other ramen places honestly. Price is reasonable. Service is always quick. There is always a short line to get in but they try to get you seated asap. The vegan sushi shop and Japanese karage are all connected with Rakiraki so it's nice you can order sushi, ramen and fried chicken in one spot. They recently just opened a new location in Carmel mountain, I still like this location better. The tastes are off. Ambiance is nice, very crowded and can get clustered.
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
There have been so many new Ramen shops in San Diego that I haven't been able to make my rounds back to some of the older restaurants, but finally had the chance to try out Rakiraki another time! - PARKING - Huge parking lot that is shared with other businesses in the plaza, no problem finding a spot! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - There are a good amount of tables inside, along with a few bar seating options. Most tables seemed to fit 4 people comfortably, although there was a bigger group of 6 with two tables combined together. Service was super attentive throughout our meal, and the food came out within 10-15 minutes after we ordered. - FOOD - Chicken Karaage ($15.95): As with most of the menu items, the prices will definitely seem higher than other Ramen shops. Don't be dissuaded before you try the food here though - the quality is great, but also the portion sizes do validate the prices you pay! The Karaage were HUGE pieces of chicken, but the inside was still juicy and the outside crispy! Cali Spicy Crunchy Roll ($14.95): Again, HUGE portion size, and instead of them cutting it up into 8 small pieces, their roll is thicker in girth and so they cut it into 5 pieces. Tasted great! Miso Tsukemen ($21.95): If I had to reorder something from our visit, it would be their Miso Tsukemen. The thickness of the noodles is uncomparable anywhere else - super chewy and bouncy, the perfect consistency! The broth was also very tasty and flavorful, and the noodles clung onto the soup perfectly. Oxtail Ramen ($25.95): The Oxtail is served on the side, and they give generous portions of it! Super tender, fall off the bone even! The Tonkatsu Ramen was delicious too, and similar to the Miso Tsukemen noodles, they were cooked perfectly, albeit I do have a preference to the triple thick noodles! - OVERALL - Rakiraki has caught my attention again, and will definitely be in my rotation of Ramen shops that I go to from now on!

Yelp
Good ramen, broth could be creamier. The pork isn't as melt in your mouth as other places but still good nonetheless. Decent pricing. Expect a wait because this spot is popular and has limited seating. Good, attentive service.

Yelp
What says Thanksgiving dinner more than ramen!!!! It was a thanksgiving miracle when we stumbled upon this place. Hungry, tired and grumpy we walked through the doors and we were instantly welcomed at this fine establishment. I ordered the traditional vegetarian, the young one ordered a bento box and the wife ordered the traditional with black sauce. All vegetarian and all delicious. If this place was open when the pilgrims landed this would of been the place they went. A must go for any ramen lover!!!
google avatar

Jiaxin G.

Yelp
Ramen was decent. The chasiu that comes with the ramen was pretty lean. You can add $3 for the fatty underbelly but the basic ramen is already $16. I kinda like the spicy red edition ramen. The broth was tasty. There was a lot of chasiu in it. The ramen that had a side of ribs was not that great. The ribs were kinda dry. Service was ok. The server was friendly. He came to check on us to see if we need to add more food. But the ramen filled me up pretty well. The ambiance was ok. It's very casual so nothing else I can add to that.
google avatar

Rina H.

Yelp
The menu here is huge honestly it's a little overwhelming. It can get extremely busy here so if you come on a weekend except to wait about an hour. Once you order though the food comes out pretty quick. My favorites are the chicken karaage by far - both the regular and the spicy ones!! So good! I can't speak to the ramen because honestly I just think it may just not be my thing because I personally wasn't a fan but my friend really liked hers. The atmosphere is loud and busy but I honestly think that's just a lot of spots in the convoy area so it's fun!
google avatar

Jared F.

Yelp
Flavor 4.5/5 - The overall flavor of each dish was good and very fresh. The ramen noodles were incredible, and the broth had a nice neutral flavor. The only drawback was that, in my opinion, the lean and fatty pork did not taste delicious. Price 3.5/5 - The price is relatively high, but each dish is intentionally and organically produced, so it is well earned. Quality 5/5 - All ingredients seem to be locally sourced, handmade, or organic. The only ingredient that I question the quality of is the pork. Service 4.5/5 - We got our order pretty quick and the server was kind. Ambiance: Casual, quality, & fun.

Yelp
This place is great , I definitely recommend this , the food was amazing and so was the customer service , definitely worth it. I think I just found my new to go spot for ramen
google avatar

Linda C.

Yelp
I've given this place a few tries however I haven't been too thrilled about the quality. The broth is a bit on the saltier side and a bowl of ramen is so expensive almost $20! For 4 people, we spent over $200. The service was slow and was also charged for an extra bowl of ramen that we didn't order. The place can get pretty busy during dinner time. There are limited seatings inside and noise level isn't too loud. The bar area is empty which I'm not sure if it has opened to the public since it looks like a storage area. I may stick to my instant ramen for now.
google avatar

William Y.

Yelp
Since it was cold outside I decided to get some ramen. Went back to this spot because it's good ramen. The Stuffed Jalapeno Tempura was ok. I thought it was moving but it's the Bonita flakes just flapping in the wind. It didn't have that much flavor. My red edition ramen is my go to and did not disappoint. The wife tried something different and never again will go with it. The ribs just did not taste good but the ramen was delicious. Service was good. Why am I giving this place a 3 because it's like every other ramen spot. Would I go back? Yes it's good ramen.
google avatar

Jadyn K.

Yelp
I've heard so many great things about this place, but I thought it wasn't anything special. However, they did have a very cool and diverse menu with items like Shabu Shabu ramen and sushi. We went in on a weekday around 6pm and there was no wait. Around 6:30-7 there was a line. The table I was seated at was super close to the party next to us, but other than that the waiters were super nice and checked up on us regularly. Takoyaki: 5/5 I really liked this starter since the octopus was present and not cut up into really tiny pieces. Red edition ramen: 4/5 I've had better spicy ramen but still a good dish. The spice level was perfect for me! Not extremely spicy to the point where you can't enjoy it.

Yelp
I normally love eating here, the food is delicious but the service from our server Ivy couldn't have been worse. I come here regularly and have been visiting raki raki for almost every birthday the past 5 years. Today I was visiting for my birthday 1/5/24 at 7pm , but was very disappointed. She had a horrible attitude and vibe about her from the beginning. I understand people have bad days and it happens, but at least putting on an effort to smile or even come by the table to ask if we needed anything at least once, but that never happened. She never once smiled, didn't bring us water even after we asked for another pitcher and cups since there was not enough on the table for our party from the beginning. We asked to split our check two ways and she said that was not possible after speaking with her manager. As mentioned we have been there plenty of times and have done it before so I was a bit confused, but let it go as it's not a big deal. My main problem with today was the lack of service. I asked another female server for her name and she acted as if she didn't know who I was referring to. She then told me our server was named Ivy after I pointed her out and went to her near the cashiers station to tell her, which was evident when Ivy turned around and looked at our table. I've will always have respect for people in the service industry and I still kept the respect despite feeling like it was not being reciprocated from our server Ivy, not even an ounce. The whole dinner felt awkward and I was so disappointed, I really hope management can look and read this review and either train her on hospitality if she continues to be a server or put her in a back of the house position.

Yelp
Solid ramen spot! The broth is very rich and flavorful here. It can get a little too heavy especially after the meal when the foods settling in. Very standard typical ramen - you can't go wrong with eating here but it won't be the best ramen you've had. There are quite a few variations of the ramen so there's something for everyone. I don't ever really see it too packed so it's a nice place for quick lunch. Makes a great place for the family to stop by because it's spacious and they can easily push tables together.

Yelp
I haven't been to this RakiRaki ramen for a few months and was so happy to return back again and enjoying the tremendous food and service at this RakiRaki Ramen. From the moment we walked into the restaurant until we left, the staff was exceptional in service, attention and kindness. But we came for ramen and tonight we were blest with amazing ramen. We started with the chicken karaage appetizer and the dumplings and each dish was perfectly prepared, presented and each bite was so wonderful!! The sauces were the perfect accompaniment for each appetizer! NOW, . . . . .let's focus on the ramen!! My wife ordered her favorite, the black edition ramen with underbelly and I ordered my normal favorite, the tonkatsu ramen also with the underbelly. Both ramen dishes were so delicious and favorable and the underbelly was perfectly prepared. We both asked to bring the remaining broth home for lunch tomorrow by adding a little white rice to the broth. What a fabulous dining experience!! Can't wait to go back, soon!!

Yelp
Best curry ramen ever! The kind that warms you up directly in the core of your soul. I like this location, as it is a lot less busy than the Convoy location, which is always packed and hard to find parking at.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Sunday around 1 pm. 3 in our group, we were given a table and menus and was left alone for minutes. No one stopped by to check in for drinks or appetizers. We had to call someone multiple times for things they forgot. Food was good, we had tonkotsu ramen with tha chasiu, meat could be more tender. The other had the curry tonkatsu don which was pretty good. The other had shoyu ramen with chicken, good too. And karaage for starter. Place was bright and spacious. Food was good, staff seemed overworked/tired not one greeting or atleast a fake smile from them. Good enough place, but probably won't be returning to this location.

Yelp
Ok, I have eaten a lot of Ramen but I don't consider myself any kind of Ramen connoisseur, but man this is the best ramen I've ever had! The Great - The Ramen - The broth was so creamy, the egg was cooked perfectly, the spicey oil was heavenly The Good - The atmosphere was really enjoyable The Bad - It was strange that the water was served in plastic disposable cups when everything else was served in appropriate vessels. The Ugly - They could only take 3 forms of payment. I can't wait to go back to Rakiraki Ramen. We snuck in before they weren't too busy. Everything here was so enjoyable and I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
FOOD: I had previously tried Rakiraki (Convoy location) several years ago, so I decided to give it another try as part of my ramen tour. Although the chashu portion was very generous, the meat tasted very lean, not at all what I would expect from chashu that is supposed to be pork belly. I never thought I would complain about food being too hot, but I think the ramen soup was too hot and partially overcooked my egg yolks. -Tonkatsu ramen 3/5: Broth tasted more oily than rich. Chashu issues as mentioned above. I like the contrast of the bamboo with the toasted garlic. - Black garlic ramen 3/5: I think this was definitely the better tasting brother, but the heaviness got overwhelming halfway through (because on top of the oily broth, there was the intentionally added garlic oil). Same chashu issues, although it did seem like the chashu was better seared in this bowl of ramen than the regular bowl -Chicken karaage 1/5: Our order was overcooked because the thigh meat was very stringy and chewy. However, the batter was tasty, and I liked the offering of three different dips. It is double in price compared to karaage at other ramen restaurants (although portion size is also larger). Given the price, I would likely not roll the dice on trying the karaage again in the hopes that it is cooked to the right tenderness. Service 5/5: The waitstaff were very courteous and appropriately attentive without being intrusive. Ambiance 5/5: I like the decor. The space felt airy and open. Free lot parking with many open spaces

Yelp
Ramen is off the chain here Meaning it's super good. Try out the spicy ramen or their sushi

Yelp
My Wagu beef ramen took a long time to be filled. My first mouth fill discovered that the soup was only like warm and the beef was not full cooked; as a result the beef was not good and very hard to chew. Others in my family just left their soup too because it was lukewarm Snd just ate the ramen noodles. Will definitely not come back.

Yelp
The ramen and katsu don at this location were decent, but the wait for food was very long. We came as a party of 2 on a Saturday night. It took about 20 minutes to be seated, and another 30 minutes for one ramen to come out. They accidentally didn't send the ticket for our other entree; they put it in after when we asked about it 40 minutes in. When the order came, the katsu don was under-seasoned (but they did discount the dish for the error). Overall, rough experience and the food wasn't worth the wait for us.

Yelp
One of the best ramen place in town. This is usually our go to spot for date nights. Food is top notch and service is very good.

Yelp
Delicious! Very welcoming attentive service. Plentiful parking - unlike their other location - and spacious seating. Very solid vibes with great music and airplanes hanging from the ceiling plus a concrete wall. It doesn't feel like you're in a shopping strip in Mira Mesa. Vast menu with a plethora of options. Open late and the food came out promptly. Super flavorful and well prepared. A touch on the pricey side but a high quality, great experience!

Yelp
Food 4/5 Atmosphere 3/5 Cleanliness 3/5 Customer service 4/5 Speed 3/5 Price 3/5 Outdoor seating? No Wheelchair access? Yes Restrooms? Yes Vegetarian options? Yes- limited Vegan options? No I really had high hopes for this place since they own The Yasai; however, i was let down when I tried their vegetarian ramen. First off, it comes with the green seaweed/veggie noodles, instead of regular noodles, and it doesn't say that on the menu. The broth isn't as flavorful as their vegan restaurants. They're very busy and their chairs aren't too comfortable. Staff is all very friendly but extremely busy. Portions are great but their prices are a little high. I likely won't be returning to this location.

Yelp
If you're on the prowl for a laid-back spot that serves up serious flavor, then Raki Raki should be on your radar. Let's delve into this unique locale that's all about good vibes and great eats. The first thing that grabbed my attention here was the genuinely surprising Happy Hour deal - and it's not just limited to one day of the week, oh no, it's EVERY. DAY. 4-6pm. Picture this: a well-earned Sapporo or a warming hot sake for just $2! Not too shabby, right? And it's not just the deals that'll have you grinning, the staff here are super welcoming, making sure you're all set for a relaxing time. Now, let's talk ambiance. It's a pretty cool setup they've got going, with a big TV screen perched above the bar. You could catch an NBA game one minute or find yourself engrossed in an anime episode the next. It's a fun touch that adds an extra dash of personality to the place. Food-wise, Raki Raki really hits the mark. Their Chicken Karaage is worth writing home about - crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, just how we like it. The chunky pieces make each bite all the more satisfying. However, if you ask me for my top pick, I'd point you straight to the Miso Tsukemen. This dish is a flavor ride - think rich, umami-infused broth clinging to perfectly cooked noodles, topped off with crispy garlic chips and succulent pork underbelly. I'm a fan of the fatty cuts, they pack a lot of flavor, but it might be a bit much if you're not into that sort of thing. Just a heads-up! In a nutshell, Raki Raki offers an honest, enjoyable dining experience without any unnecessary frills. If you're seeking good food, decent prices, and a casual, fun environment, you should definitely check it out.

Yelp
Oxtail broth is to die for! The ramen is tasty and i love that they were willing to sub rice for me since i cannot have gluten!

Yelp
The Black edition ramen broth was good, the chasiu was a little bit tough, though. The chicken karaage was the best I've had.

Yelp
Broth and noodle texture are both very good! I love the creaminess of the broth and that it's not too heavy. I prefer thinner noodles but really enjoyed the bouncy texture of the noodles! Service was very good, loved the Naruto sticker at the front too haha. The meat was okay for me, I prefer a more tender, fattier pork cha siu but I could tell it was good quality. I wouldn't get the original tonkotsu ramen again but I definitely want to try their other kinds of ramen though!

Yelp
My party of five entered on Friday at around 6:30pm, luckily there wasn't much of a wait. The ambience & lighting is nice, and the customer service was great, so I'll give the restaurant that. My rating and subsequent review below is entirely concerned with what I ordered. I ordered the Akasaka K-Town Kimchee Ramen. While the sparerib was crispy and tender, I found the soup profile to be underwhelming. **I realized upon tasting that tofu is very incompatible with ramen.** In the end I feel I selected something that looked good on paper, but tasted mediocre in reality. I did taste a bit of my friend's Black Edition ramen. This restaurant is on the pricier side as other reviewers suggest. However if I were to visit this restaurant again I'd definitely select either that or the spicier Red Edition, which is actually cheaper than what I chose that night. "Sometimes, things that are expensive, are worse."
