Crowd-Pleaser RakiRaki Establishes First North County Ramen Shop - Eater San Diego

"Enduring local ramen brand RakiRaki & Tsukemen, whose flagship location on Convoy Street in Kearny Mesa has been in operation for over a decade, is making its first foray into North County. The Japanese noodle shop opens Monday, April 24 in Rancho Penasquitos, making it the fourth restaurant in San Diego for RakiRaki owner and executive chef Junya Watanabe. Operating daily from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Plaza Rancho Penasquitos, the modern restaurant is decorated with oversized Japanese lanterns and features a ramen bar where diners can see the kitchen cooking up bowls of tonkotsu pork and chicken ramen and specialties like vegetarian miso, curry, or oxtail ramen. There’s also tsukemen, or dipping ramen, plus appetizers like takoyaki and gyoza and other bites ranging from ramen burgers to sushi rolls. RakiRaki also pours Japanese beer and sake." - Candice Woo

It's a rather small restaurant and can fill up quickly but the soup and food doesn't disappoint. My soup was loaded and delicious. The big fat jumbo crispy gyoza were bomb. I also ordered some fresh kimchi. The service was good despite every table filled. Definitely worth a visit.

Fresh off LAX, Brother Jesse took me for some late lunch—and Rakiraki did not disappoint on flavor! 🍜🔥 The ramen was rich and flavorful, the takoyaki was on point, and the ted edition ramen with underbelly bowl was a visual (and tasty) feast! The only thing missing? A bit more warmth from the staff. A friendly smile can go a long way in making great food feel even better. Hoping for more cheerful service next time around.😊

Did not know this location was here but they said they'd been here for a while! We walked in on a Sunday evening and were seated right away, it was not busy at all. For appetizers we ordered jumbo crispy gyoza and Chicken Karaage. And for ramen I got the shabu shabu ramen and my friend got the chicken ramen. The gyoza was pretty good; nothing special honestly and there is better more flavorful gyoza out there but this is the standard for them at all their restaurants so the lack of flavor didn't phase me. The chicken karaage was a bit over fried and cut along the chicken grain so it was hard to bite into. The shabu shabu ramen was good but usually at the other location, it’s actually shabu shabu.. raw meat thrown in the hot breath to cook, here, they torched the top of it which made the meat touch because it was sliced so thin.. that was a bummer.. my friend said the chicken ramen was good. The noodle quality is A+ though, it is authentic Japanese ramen noodles they really have that down to a science! Overall good food. Not great food though. But the best ramen you’re going to get in the area for sure. Also this location is pretty small inside but decorated very neatly and welcoming when you walk in.

Google
We came this good ramen restaurant for lunch. The dining room was clean with a nice bar. The service was okey but there was only one server during lunch time. We tried their signature tonkotsu ramen, teriyaki chicken rice bowl, signature shoyu ramen, and bbq pork tsukemen. Their bbq pork tasted bland and their broth had too much salt which could mask the broth flavor. I like their chicken rice bowl the most. Their rice tasted like decent sushi rice decently mixed with juicy minced pork.

Google
We ordered 5 soups, 3 were very salty. When we asked to send one back the server, Jordan, explain that "policy" does not allow for it. We were offered new broth with less sodium which did not sit well with me or my family. The server began to explain the policy again and created a terrible experience. Do not confuse the service and food quality with the Raki Raki in Clairmont. This place does not compare at any level.

Google
Everything on the menu is delicious! This is the perfect spot for my husband and I when we're wanting some ramen. The Vegetarian Miso Ramen is so yummy, and my husband said the Akaska K-Town Kimchee Ramen was super flavorful and good! The staff was also very nice and attentive. We will definitely be visiting again soon :)

Google
Great interior, nice bar. Giant gyoza were good, but not a lot of flavor. Ramen was great, plenty of noodles and tons of chicken, including big chunks of dark meat. By the way it was $56 for two people combined, not close to 50-100/person.

Google
We went to this place for an early dinner and ordered the Raki all-star ramen and Kurobuta ramen, adding spicy miso to suit my taste. The portions were generous, and we couldn't finish them. There was only one server on duty, and we had to wait occasionally for napkins and chili oil.

Yelp
My husband and I read good reviews of this place and wanted to check it out while we were in the area. This was around mid-October 2024. I think it's nicely decorated inside with some cute signs. Dining service was friendly and fairly prompt. What we had... ORIGINAL HAKATA TONKOTSU RAMEN - The noodles had good texture, but the broth was lacking the classic umami pork flavor and thick broth. KUROBUTA SPARE-RIB RAMEN - Pretty flavorful. Meat wasn't tender enough, though broth was pretty flavorful. Junya's THE ORIGINAL CRISPY KARAAGE - This was tasty! Tender pieces with crunchy outer layer. Food - 3.0 Service - 4.5 Cleanliness - 4.5 Ambience - 5.0 Overall - 4.25

Yelp
It's my first time here at this Rakiraki location and I ordered take out online. It was very convenient, ready in 15 minutes, everything was correct, and well-packed. The soup was separated from the rest of the ingredients so it wouldn't get soggy. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen and it was delicious. The toppings that it came with were plentiful. Though the charsiu was a thicker cut than other places, I am certainly not complaining about generous meat portions. The meat was rather lean and could benefit from being sliced thinner (but keep the portion size)! Staff was friendly and professional! I will come back here to dine-in as an alternative to driving all the way to the Convoy location. Sorry no photos, I was famished

Yelp
We were really excited to see a Rakiraki in PQ! They're located in the same shopping plaza as Albertsons. No issues with parking given the large sized lot. We came by for a late lunch and was seated promptly. The restaurant is on the smaller side and almost every table was occupied when we arrived. I ordered the Red Edition ramen which I enjoyed - rich broth, perfectly cooked ramen, with good chunks of chasiu. There was only one server when we were there serving all of the tables and also handling all of the to-go orders. We weren't in a rush but the food took a long time to come out, probably close to 30+ minutes after ordering. The server himself was great, very patient despite being understaffed, and we could tell did the best he could. Nonetheless, we had a pleasant experience and looking forward to coming by again next time we're in the area.

Yelp
Rakiraki Ramen and Tsukemen is a great spot for anyone who appreciates quality ramen. I drank up the Black Edition Ramen. The broth was so rich and I loved the crispy garlic and the sesame seeds that elevated every bite. The noodles were perfectly al dente, with just the right chew to hold up to the richness of flavors. The ambiance of Rakiraki struck a nice balance between industrial and sleek. The high ceilings and spacious layout gave it a very relaxed, cool vibe. The decor is minimal but thoughtfully designed, with clean lines that create a modern feel without being pretentious. It's the kind of space where you can comfortably enjoy your meal and conversation. Whether you're looking for a casual lunch or a chill dinner, the atmosphere makes it easy to settle in and enjoy yourself.

Yelp
We ordered takeaway since we needed to be elsewhere and wanted something warm since it was cold outside. Everything was neatly packaged which is highly appreciated. I want to compliment their packaging, this allows for an easier way to carry and handle. You don't have to worry about burning yourself or that the packaging will disintegrate. When we placed our order the gentleman that helped us was really nice and recommended his personal favorite. We decided to wait in the car for our food and once it was ready we got a call. The establishment is on the smaller side but looks very cozy. It definitely got busy while we waited for our food.

Yelp
If a customer has diet restrictions, don't argue with them if you fucked up on YOUR job. You expect tips but you serve someone something they physically can't eat. If you are vegan, vegetarian, pregnant, or have religious exemptions do not come here. I personally don't care about mistakes, but to charge someone, not apologize, and still argue is really pathetic. This is why people don't want to tip or go out and eat, too many ENTITLED and UNSKILLED labor crying for more tip money that they don't deserve. I'd rather go to Tajima, thanks for making the decision easy for me for future ramen nights. Small place too, on another occasion they forced me and my father at the bar instead of a table cuz they wanted to reserve it for a bigger party THAT MIGHT come in. SMH lol

Yelp
The food was surprisingly delicious and looked beautiful when they served you. While it did take some time for our three orders of Ramen and one chicken Katsu to come out. We were able to eat on edamame and very large pan fried Gyoza dumplings. We ordered two plates of these, but one was enough for two people for sure. Service was a bit slow, even though the restaurant was only half full when we were there. However, we will return to try other bowls of Ramen as they all look very delicious and priced well.

Yelp
Place is Amazing best ramen you can get , the chicken omg must order with the sauce they have . Always packed but worth the wait for sure

Yelp
Went in for a bite an hour before closing. There was still enough time for friendly and timely service. I went with Miso Tonkotsu Ramen with Underbelly. My buddy had their Yakiniku Ramen. We both left very satisfied with the portions. The environment around that time was pleasant and inviting. I'm happy this location is in my neck of the woods as parking is a crapshoot at their other locations. I'll be back, for sure! Hopefully I'll have more to report on another visit!

Yelp
Ramen in PQ? Definitely a nice option for locals .. was completely empty when we came during lunch time.. Got the squid legs, like that it came with both regular and spicy mayo. Then got the original tonkotsu which had generous toppings. Service was attentive and food came out quickly.

Yelp
I heard so many great things about Rakiraki Ramen so when I finally went to get ramen here on a Sunday around 1 and the restaurant was almost empty I was really surprised. We were seated right away and the service was great, and we got the ramen very soon after. The seating was nice, and we had a seat at a table rather than the bar but they both looked comfortable, though the whole place is pretty small so I'd expect it to get pretty crowded at busier times. The ramen was amazing, and I'm happy there were options without pork. For ramen it is on the pricier side, but for a special occasion I would definitely come here again!

Yelp
DELICIOUS! Never a disappointment. I love their tonkatsu ramen with pork belly but have tried with their chicken and it is also amazing. My husband loves their fried gyoza. A must stop whenever we are in San Diego.

Debby L.

Yelp
Yum! I love a good bowl of ramen and this did not disappoint. First time to this location. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with underbelly. I was going to get it with chasiu instead, but our server told me that it was tough and kind of chewy. I'm not a huge fan of pork belly because of all the fat, but theirs was pretty good. I did take a little of my ramen home and when I heated up the next day, the pork belly was more tender. The ramen that I ordered was pretty basic so I needed to add some extra spice to it. Love having the Carmel Mountain location so I don't have to deal with Convoy. Service very good and friendly. Restaurant clean, but small. Can't wait to go back! Have to try the curry ramen next time.
google avatar

Yelp
Really generous portions! Got the oxtail ramen which was an INSANELY generous meal. Came with a classic chicken based ramen broth which has the perfect creaminess and then a GIANT bowl of oxtail in a nice sweet soy broth. So worth it!! Fried chicken appetizer was also a huge portion.
google avatar

Yelp
Staff cannot manage the tables; they can't coordinate and turn tables quickly. They need to be retrained. Its crazy. How long we have to wait seeing tables opened.
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
My go to ramen spot, super amazing and flavorful you will never regret coming here for a fresh bowl of ramen. Id recommend the signature shoyu or the original hakata tonkotsu ramen with aburi charsiu. Or if you love spicy food get the red edition ramen! The staff is so friendly and nice and the prices are pretty good for he quality of the food. 10 stars
google avatar

Yelp
I'd keep coming back, especially for their spicy garlic edamame! I've ordered for take out and had a sit in moment and both times, I was very satisfied both in taste and customer experience. When I ordered for take out, the food was prepared a lot faster than others and packaged well, especially separating the "black" flavor, so I got to experience it blending with the base. When I came here for dine in, the staff were super friendly. Our ramen took a bit longer to come and the staff was super apologetic, she said she accidentally gave my husband's ramen to someone, hence the delay. I was super glad that they made us both wait so we can eat our ramen together, instead of giving mine then him waiting and just watching me. The staff was also super sorry so she offered a free drink on the house. We're both non-alcoholic drinkers so we just got soda. Overall, for my husband and I, it was a good experience. I give this place a 5-star because I will come back here again, and again. Not anytime soon though, but definitely will again lol.

Yelp
The pork cutlet was perfectly cooked and juicy. Noodles were tasty and just the right texture, and the savory broth had great depth of flavor. Green onions and sesame seeds complemented each other nicely, and the runny egg was spot on. Great bowl of ramen!

Yelp
Was really excited to try out this new Rakiraki ramen in CMR. The shopping center has plenty of parking so that's not a problem. I ordered the korobuto ramen and felt like it was quite heavy and salty. My son tried it and thought it was fine. He opted for curry. I ended up not finishing my ramen and took it home. I ended up getting sick in the middle of the night and the next day. Took me 2 days to recover. Once I did, I called the restaurant to let them know. The manager, John, said he would look into it and call me the next day. He never called. I hope the restaurant looks at what they are doing and practices better safe food handling in the future.
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
Service was really nice, was attentive and friendly. I got the oxtail ramen and the portion is health. The oxtail itself was pretty tender but not fall off the bone. The broth of the ramen and oxtail were nice and rich. This is a pretty quiet lowkey store nestled in a semi busy plaza in Rancho Penasquito. They do share a parking lot with a gym, grocery market and other stores so be mindful.
google avatar

Jennifer V.

Yelp
Only 10 minute wait on a weekday! Two employees kept checking on us the entire time. Seating inside is very close together. Super loud with everyone talking. Everything I have tried here is delicious! You can order off 3 menus: RakiRaki, The Yasai, and Junya's Crispy Karaage. Dog friendly. They also do take out.
google avatar

Jessy H.

Yelp
Having tried their other locations, I didn't have too high expectations for the ramen but it was close by, and I was craving noodles. The staff was very friendly and overall service was great. Unfortunately, I only have negative things to say about the food. I ordered chicken karaage and pork chashu tsukemen with spicy oil. The chicken pieces were huge, but so very dry; it was like eating jerky. The noodles for tsukemen had a good chewy texture, but I was disappointed with the dipping broth. After seeing the huge bowl of soup, I almost knew instantly that it wasn't the tsukemen I usually enjoyed. The broth lacked flavor and thickness(?). It was pretty much like ramen broth but more oily. They gave a lot of lean meat with the broth, which was also very dry. On the bright side, their proportions were big.

Yelp
So happy that RakiRaki chose this side of Carmel Mt. for their 3rd location. The space is a little smaller than Mira Mesa and Convoy but I really like the simple and clean design with nice displays. As for the food, we ordered the Signature Shoyu Chicken, Tonkotsu Ramen with Underbelly, and Spicy Miso Tonkotsu. They all tasted great and the flavors were on par with the other locations. My Shoyu Chicken broth was a little salty. The wait staff was friendly but very slow with clearing the table when they weren't busy at all.
google avatar

Yelp
This area needed a good ramen spot and I'm so happy that Rakiraki is here! The apps are great! Ramen is good too! Service is attentive and good! No complaints! Can't wait to go back
google avatar

Yelp
Welcome to PQ! This place has legit ramen... Worth the premium price on most of their items. It has a small dining area but very clean. Parking is easy most days and nights unless the gym is packed. Service is prompt. Be sure to try their ramen that includes the pork ribs... Literally fall of the bone meat! The karaage chicken dish with rice was good but did have a salty batter. I'll visit again for sure when I don't want to make the trek to Convoy for my ramen fix

Lauryn W.

Yelp
MY FAVORITE RAMEN EVER!!! Their chicken karage is to die for as well. I love this place so much

Yelp
Stopped for a quick lunch and ordered appetizer which quite tasty and the sauce was ahhh spicy good. Clean place and good service

Yelp
Located by stater brothers towards the middle in plaza by Armstrong nursery. Tiny place with a bar section . Lots of workers but service is pretty slow . The menu is extensive AND expensive. It is soft opening so it was somewhat expected. There were a few tables and all but one was taken. It was easier to sit at bar for party of 1 that afternoon. A few tvs were playing sports. The servers weren't very attentive so I had to ask a few times for water, utensils, to order, etc. It seemed disorganized. I ordered the ox tail premium ramen and asked if they could do 1/2 of the ramen noodles (same price of course). He looked confused and said no, as they're already portioned out. I've never had an issue where they just use 1/2 of the portion so there's no waste and the restaurant can have the rest to use for themselves or whomever later. I also added the $2 black garlic oil. I ordered: Ikageso Karaage $14.40: - small portion with the tiniest spicy mayo on side. The squid was wonderfully crispy and had a nice chew to it. But the price was ridiculously high on what was given Oxtail Ramen $23.95 + $2.00 (black garlic oil) - I wasn't sure if I was going to order this or the Tsukemen version (noodles on the side). The servers explanation of both versions was vague so I opted for the standard version. It's a decent portion with the oxtail served on the side. The oxtails were braised well and did indeed have a lot of tail bones. The braising liquid tasted like Taiwanese minced pork meat sauce. The ramen broth itself seemed lacking of salt or more umami. It also tasted a bit bitter from what I think was the black garlic oil (like over burnt garlic). It wasn't a satisfying meal and the price was $50+ after tax and tip (eating by myself at the bar with minimal interaction with staff). I had leftover broth and obviously a ton load of ramen noodles left over which I separated out into two containers. Surprisingly , the ramen broth with the added oxtail tasted a lot better a few days later. I'm not sure I'd return as the prices are super high. Hopefully the service improves.

Yelp
I'm Sick! I ordered a Yakiniku ramen delivered that had a tonkatsu style broth and included some thinly sliced marinated beef rib. I had to stop and remove the beef to try and get rid of the gristle - all of the beef ended up being inedible. I ate less than half the portion and within an hour my stomach began to cramp. Three hours later - and two unpleasant trips to the bathroom - I had finally vomited it all out. Stomach was fine after that. No one answers the phone at the restaurant so had to leave a voicemail. After 48hrs there was no follow up from my call. Avoid at all costs!
google avatar

Matthew D.

Yelp
Overall i was very please with my order. I ordered the black edition ramen, and Tonkotsu with extra egg. The reason I gave 4 stars is, I requested bamboo shoot to be excluded from both orders, but it was buried in with the rest of the ingredients in my to go order. My Black edition did not come with an egg, and the extra egg for the Tonkatsu was not added, just one egg to share. Before ordering to go, I will make sure to double check the bag if I order to go, but minus the order hiccup, i was very pleased with the bold and deep flavor of the black edition ramen and creamy broth of the Tonkatsu.
google avatar

Shantel C.

Yelp
The food is delicious, but it's pretty expensive for what you get. Especially some of the vegetarian options (ten bucks for sliced cucumbers and tomatoes in oil?).. otherwise I'd rate it five stars!
google avatar

Christy P.

Yelp
First time coming to this location. Food is yummy just like the one in Mira Mesa. I got the black garlic ramen with under belly. My friend got the kimchi ramen and the flavor was so good just too spicy for me. Service is great! The plants are super cute. Parking can be tricky. Definitely coming back again.

Yelp
Never again will I come here, and here's why. In a neutral setting, when someone says thank you, common people respond with something like your welcome or no worries or etc. As a customer at a restaurant, thou shall provide a kind response, it costs you nothing. This place, doesn't respond. I even sarcastically said hey sorry for saying thank you, they said no worries . Now the food came. My wife's food came first and had hair in it. They replaced it. Then 15 minutes later my food came. So I watched my wife eat and my wife watched me eat, nice job bringing the food out together (sarcasm - i must say it to be clear for this place). The karage curry was the saltiest curry ever, hard to eat, and this is coming from me who sprays salt on my food. The sapporo was the best item, but obviously that's hard to mess up. Never again rakiraki ramen, never again .

Seok Joon B.

Yelp
Went there on a Saturday afternoon, clean atmosphere, one staff but there wasn't that many people so didn't have to wait long. Broth was rich and creamy, enjoyed the meal, cheers.

Nadine I.

Yelp
Not the best ramen I've had. I had high hopes after trying the convoy location. But this place doesn't live up to convoys delicacy:/
google avatar

Joel E.

Yelp
Haven't been here for a while - but tonight's visit was disappointing... The beef in the rice bowl was very fatty and not that tasty and the ramen in the chicken broth was literally swimming in oil- I asked the waitress and she indicated that that's how they make it ....sorry not for me it looked like heart attack in a bowl... Don't think I'll be back soon.
google avatar

Wesley W.

Yelp
Maybe it's just this location but boiyo this is overrated. The broth is super rich which is impressive(?) but seems heavy for no reason and lacks the rest of the flavor. The noodles are good, the chashu is kinda doodoo. Is it supposed to be healthy? Is it supposed to????? What is this. Don't get karaage. Go to tenkatori Miramar they got it great up there. 3 stars because I think it's a bit better at convoy, but either way I'm not going here over [copyright]

Yelp
Greeted right away by someone. Explained the menu. Food was great. It's cold temperature so come warm. Loved the ramen but did not like the powder on the ribs. Gyoza was really good.
google avatar

Carmen V.

Yelp
I love ramen and nothing demands a delicious ramen soup like one of those cold nights from our Gray May and June Gloom days. This Rakiraki is just by the 24 hours fitness center in Rancho Penasquitos, so it is perfect location for me, especially when starving after a class. A gym friend and I went there for the first time this week and was a great experience. I loved theonly food as much as the minimalist, clean cut decor. It feels good and the service is attentive. My only wish is that my tonkotsu ramen was more spicy and if they had more variety of spicy sauces.

Yelp
There are plenty of parking at this location in comparison to their convoy one. We went on a Tuesday at 6pm so the wait wasn't bad yet. They are known for their Tsukemen so I always order it but never satisfied with it. I was hoping this location would be different but they are all the same (which is also good as it means their flavors are the same across all of their restaurant locations). Normally Tsukemen broth are a bit heavier and intense in flavor as you are supposed to dip the noodles in to eat, broth is hot while noodles are cold/room temp is the basic style of these but the broth was not really hot and it was actually plain/not seasoned well. So if you don't like salty ramen you would like Rakiraki but if you like more flavor, you probably would go to the other ramen places. The chasu also didn't taste/look like chasu. We ended up not even completing it because it was not good meat. It was very dry. The menma (bamboo shoots) also was a bit smelly. I normally love menma in my ramen but I didn't like the ones from here. I did like the fried garlic as they were crunchy and added some flavor. The gyoza was nice and crispy. It was also good to eat while waiting for your ramen to come out. Service was hard to get as the staff weren't really attentive to their surroundings. It did become pretty full by the time we finished our meal so it would be good to join the waitlist before coming for late dinner.

Yelp
Extremely delicious! I'm so glad that Yelp showed me that Rakiraki had this new location in RP. They've only been open for a few weeks and so weren't crowded when I picked up at 8:30 - but it was so good! I got the vegetarian ramen. YUM. The tofu was terrific. And I got the green vegetarian gyoza. Even more delicious - very garlicky. I liked it even more than the ramen. Glad this place is here - and if you're waiting at the other locations, give it a try over here where it's not too busy (I think?) yet!

Yelp
Small, unassuming place -- HUGE menu and flavor. They have two pages of vegan food that I didn't even get to read because I found multiple things on the regular menu that looked good. The server was polite and had good suggestions, and it since it was a small spot, the vibe was quiet but not uncomfortably quiet. The Karaage was SOO good & crispy. The curry was exactly what I hoped for, and wasn't too spicy. The tsukemen ramen broth was creamy and surprisingly light. I got the black garlic oil, and it just had so much flavor.

Yelp
Modern and clean new location by 24hr Fitness. Their menu is slightly different from the other locations. They don't offer sushi or seafood here. We ordered the original hakata tonkatsu tsukemen (black) and the original hakata tonkatsu ramen. Both very good broth. The Black Tsukemen comes with a thicker ramen, garlic slices, scallions and lime slices all on a separate plate . Honestly I thought I ordered the black edition (Jukusei ) it's a difference of about $3. Our server explained that the Tsukemen noodles are slightly thicker. The broth is rich with flavor and I love the garlic bits. It was good but not sure I'd order this again because the less expensive Black one tastes very similar to me. We also ordered the original hakata tonkatsu ramen. This is with the slightly thinner noodles with a lighter broth. Both orders were full of char siu. More than what other ramen places give. But the meat did get dryer the longer it sat in the broth. The ramen here is same quality as the ramen at the other locations. Our server was very friendly. He's the only one taking care of all the tables. There's a counter with stool seating for about 7 customers and about 6 small tables total. Great to have a Raki Raki in PQ.

Yelp
Great decor....I can tell they are still making improvements to this new location. With everything they currently have the ambiance is spectacular for a RakiRaki. The wait wasn't long at all, but it was about 8pm, so on the later side. I've been waiting for it to open since sadly they took over one of my favorite Chinese restaurants (so surprise they shut down). But when I saw the coming soon sign pop up for RakiRaki....we were excited! Plenty of parking, but there are alot of eatery and next door is 24 hour fitness, so parking can be busy at certain times of the day. I swore I took pictures of our ramen, but they are no where to be found. We had the oxtail ramen and black edition ramen. The oxtail came in a separate bowl. It was hard to take out the meat, so I think this might have been a good dish to eat at home so I can just go in to the meat with my hands! Broth for both were delicious. Can't wait to try the other bowls!

Yelp
Still in their soft opening phase. Pretty small location. There are about 5 tables that can each fit four people. It's possible to split the tables for two people, but it'll be pretty tight. They do also have bar seating if you don't mind it. My husband and I are honestly not a huge fan of the ramen at RakiRaki as their broth doesn't have much flavor compared to other ramen shops. However this location is in our neighborhood and wanted to give it a try since we were craving curry. It was just ok, nothing to rave about. We did order noodles with just broth for our son and just like our other experiences, the broth lacked flavor, but this time it was worse. Sad to say, it honestly tasted like nothing; watered down pork broth. The table next to us had the same complaint about their ramen. The server tried to offer the table next to us some chili oil or garlic chips to see if it would help, but you shouldn't need to add toppings/oils to your ramen to make it flavorful. Although the food wasn't good to our liking, the service was great and staff were friendly. Welcome to the neighborhood. I know a few people who really love RakiRaki ramen, but it just isn't for us. To each their own.

Yelp
I kept hearing that Rakiraki is better than Menya Ultra and other ramen places in San Diego and had to try, so I was happy to see they opened a site near me. I got the original chicken ramen which was super rich. It had the flavor of five chickens in one soup and a big portion of meat. Everyone I ate with enjoyed their bowls of ramen immensely. The restaurant wasn't crowded at all and service was fast. Nice, clean, modern. I liked that the ramen was served with a lid that the waiter took off after placing the bowl on the table. My one issue was that the broth was a bit too oily. I tend to prefer ramen where the richness is integrated with the broth rather than pooling on the top with oil. I'll try the tonkotsu next time to see how that fares.

Yelp
We've come twice and both times been bowled over by the flavors. Signature chicken ramen. Teriyaki rice bowl. Guy don. Pan seared pork gyoza. Tastes so fresh and everything just a little bit "extra", especially the ramen broth. No wait, the gyoza. No wait ... we will be back.

Yelp
I ordered Black Edition with Aburi Chasiu. The Aburi chasiu was not Aburi (roasted) and not the meat ramen usually has on the top. (Please refer the attached pic) It tasted like Chinese seasoned pork. I tried to use a Raki Raki gift card but they did not accept it because the owner is different from other stores, although the card mentions the exclusion is only Mira Mesa store.
