San Diego’s RakiRaki Restaurant Reopens in Little Italy With Ramen, Sushi, and Japanese-Style Fried Chicken | Eater San Diego

"After revamping its long-running India Street spot, the restaurant—now called RakiRaki Commons—brings RakiRaki’s well-known ramen back to Little Italy as part of a space overhaul that will offer four distinct menus starting in early December; the relaunch is tied to owner Junya Watanabe’s recent rollout of new brands at RakiRaki’s flagship in Kearny Mesa. Scheduled to grand open Monday, December 6, the spot will feature drink deals and half-off takeout orders placed through the restaurant’s website or by phone, plus ongoing daily specials like 99-cent Sapporo draft beer and sake after 10 p.m. with any food purchase." - Candice Woo

Here's the thing. Before you all open today.. A conversation between management and staff (Particularly, your chefs) NEEDS to be had about cross contamination and cleanliness. There are too many reviews . (And I have SCREEN SHOTS) of people complaining about food poisoning after eating here. Raw food should be handled properly. Gloves switched out appropriately. CHICKEN FOOD FULLY. AND HANDS WASHED THOROUGHLY BEFORE AND AFTER PREPARING DIFFERENT MEALS. Im not sure if you all know the amount of children that eat food here, when parents come to pick up dinner.. but a child (ot anyone) shouldn't have to go through (the graphics i will not discuss), of what happens when someone's been food poisoned. Lets be mindful, and try to make the most delicious food, but as safely as possible. And for the love of GOD, Dont forget to do something as simple as putting teriyaki sauce on the CHICKEN TERIYAKI 🤦🏼‍♀️ Be mindful that people are spending their hard earned dollars here Chefs, we appreciate eveything you do, and dont ever feel as though your work isn't appreciate ,- it is. We the people come here because of YOU. But please.. consider what was mentioned above. Sincerely, Someone who is tired of being food poisoned

This is not the first Ramen spot I’ve been to but this place is cool. Was recommended by my nephew and he was right about the food it hits the spot. The food looked and tasted amazing! Since it was my first time I went for the original Ramen (boring right)? No it wasn’t, it had chunks of chicken and other ingredients in it; bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, seaweed just to name a few. The serving size is big. I shared it with a friend. And we shared a sushi roll. My belly was hap My nephew really loved the the crispy chicken karaage serve over rice with sweet chili sauce. He loved it so much we went back the next day to order the same thing. The staff seems busy in the back but our waitress was nice and helpful with the menu. One thing that confuse e both of us though was when I checked in, it said I can get a free fountain drink which they didn’t have per our waitress. But she still honored my free drink!

Not quite like they make it in Japan, but not bad! It’s definitely over priced, but most things are these days. The noodles were a good size & texture and the right portion for me, but some ramen lovers might be left wanting more noods. The spicy miso broth was good and not too greasy and the meat had a delicious charred taste. The soft boiled marinated eggs were also surprisingly good. We also got the garlic edamame and some sushi.

Ordered vegan food and it was delicious. Like I absolutely loved and enjoyed the food. And it’s a must try place if you are in the area. I gave 3 stars because of the service. Me and my cousin ordered green tea, and server old us they can’t give us green tea because they are out of mugs. Like whatttt. You are running a restaurant business and you are out of mugs to serve tea. 😏 seriously!!!! If you are planning to drink hot tea there maybe bring paper cup with you, who knows they might be out of their mugs.

My favorite spot for the best ramen in SoCal since 6 years ago. Don’t hesitate to come here and enjoy the best ramen, way better than the other one down street.

This is a very decent little corner shop. As far as Ramen goes, not too bad. It's right outside of Little Italy, so not many other ramen places in the near by area, which is a bonus for them. We were seated very quickly, and served as such too. The main area is not that big, so I'd recommend parties of 6 or less, for ease of comfort. The facility as a whole is very clean and has a relaxed vibe. If I'm ever in the area again, and craving some Ramen, I'll be sure to check then out.

Great little ramen spot! — Go with a little time to wait for a table but know that you can request it and then go to nearby bar to relax for 20-30 min while waiting. Food was great with creamy broth and well cooked meat. I my have been biased as I was starving after 4 days of comic-con but this really hit the spot! Apps were solid and my partners salad was great as well.

So, I grew up in Japan, I've had ramen a third of the price that blows this stuff away. The flavor is decent overall, but something was lacking. The portion of noodles in the bowl was just a little too small. The pork was really good. The serving is really tiny for the price paid, really, it should be no more than 8 bucks per bowl (with all the stuff you see in there in my picture) if this is how their serving size works. You can see my reviews of ramen I've had recently in Japan and see the difference immediately. Presentation had almost no effort, and that is one of the most important aspects of Japanese food. The broth was perfect. There was no hot sesame oil offered, just sesame seeds everywhere...the intent is good, but it's not the same.
