We've been out here a few times before, but always missed the Farmstand farmers market on Wednesday's 4-7. This week we finally made it! So glad we did because the freshly picked produce they had was gorgeous! And so very cost effective also (our whole basket shown was less than $16). We're very excited to try the Tiger Melon we bought from them. And they had free samples of their passion fruit, which is different then the kind of passion fruit we normally see. It comes from their beautiful passionflower plant and was so delicious. The outside looks like a small green oblong ball, but it almost hollow. That's the husk that you pull off and inside are these semi gelatinous seeds that you eat. They taste like a tropical fruit and a banana had a baby and not nearly as slimy as I thought they'd be, because I don't like that kind of texture. Overall, fantastic experience with the food, people and prices. We'll definitely be back often to see what other fun food goodies they have.

I enjoy volunteering with the farm once a week to weed. The amount of produce grown in the available space is amazing! The staff are friendly and encouraging. The intern program is great for passing along farming skills. I love the pay-what-you can market on Wednesday evenings. I am excited they will be opening a second farming location in the near future.

Raleigh City Farm is a gem in the Person Street neighborhood of downtown Raleigh. Its mission is to grow the next generation of farmers by connecting our community to sustainable agriculture. The produce is available for all community members to purchase at their weekly Farmstand from April-October, and produce is also donated to local non-profits who address food insecurity. Raleigh City Farm also offers great community programming, including workshops and events (they host an annual Bearthday event in April and annual Harvest Dinner in October). Raleigh City Farm is a great example of local, sustainable agriculture at work!

Yelp
I went here over a year ago and forgot to write a review. This place is awesome. I attended an herb class with my mother in law and sister in law. It was so much fun. They had tables set up where we had tools to mix different dried herbs, spices, and got to pick fresh herbs from the garden. We learned the medicinal properties of each herb and how it can enhance specific dishes and recipes. The woman hosting the event blessed us with homemade jam and homemade lavender scones, as she just got back from Scotland. This was a memorable event and the garden is absolutely perfect. Definitely recommend volunteering and attending local events there.

Yelp
Raleigh City Farm is easily one of my most favorite places in Raleigh. The Wednesday farm stand is always worth visiting. Also, the Harvest Dinner this past Sunday was exceptionally well run and the food was excellent. I am very thankful for this place in the Person Street District.

Yelp
Raleigh City Farm is a gem in the Person Street neighborhood of downtown Raleigh. Its mission is to grow the next generation of farmers by connecting our community to sustainable agriculture. Josh Sattin is the Farm Manager who uses a no till approach and believes in farming with minimal inputs and no herbicides or pesticides. The produce will soon be available to all community members through a farmstand starting at the end of April 2020 with produce also being donated to local non-profits who address food insecurity. Raleigh City Farm also offers great community programming, including workshops and events (they host an annual, free Bearthday event in April and annual Harvest Dinner in October). Raleigh City Farm is a great example of local, sustainable agriculture at work!

Yelp
I've been seeing things about the Raleigh City Farm in my recycling e-newsletter, and I decided to stop by and check it out a few Saturdays ago. I read they were selling some of their transplants for $1 and I wanted to see if I could get a couple. Lisa greeted me and was super warm and welcoming! She devotes so much of her time to this farm and is extremely passionate about urban farming. She told me about the history of the farm and how it's come to fruition, and the plans for the farm's future. They recently got a water source out there and are working on composting their own soil, and they encourage locals to bring food scraps to add to their compost pile! Super cool :) They've expanded their garden so much in the past year and are donating much of their produce to homeless shelters and food shuttles. They take volunteers every Saturday morning, and they will teach you everything you need to know and do! Don't be afraid to come check it out- Lisa is more than awesome to work with and is super welcoming to newbies. Love this place and the positive outcomes of it!!

Yelp
We stopped by the Raleigh City Farm on a Saturday morning after going to Yellow Dog Bakery. I bought a fresh basil plant and chives. The herbs were so fresh and perfect for cooking. I paid cash and not sure if they even take credit card. You can also see the Standard Foods restaurant and shop coming along and this is a great garden to compliment the farm to table concept and fresh foods concept. Be sure to check out Raleigh City Farm while at Yellow Dog or Wine Authorities.

Yelp
I love how Raleigh City Farm transformed that little urban street corner into a beautiful working farm that connects our neighbors to the "where, how, and why" of sustainable agriculture. My family loves supporting the farmers who operate on the site (we go there and buy produce sometimes and we get our Christmas tree there each year). We've also gone to some of the community events and educational classes RCF hosts. I highly recommend their annual Harvest Dinner event... they always have the best chefs in town cooking a meal right out on the farm and you dine under the open skies. It's magical.
