Google
My love affair with Raleigh Denim started about 15 years ago with my first pair of their khaki overdyed Cone Denim Graham fit jeans. It didn’t take long to develop a full obsession with the fits, the quality, and most importantly the intentional details that continue to set Raleigh apart. Whether it is the selvedge detail on the coin pocket, the fly, or the rear belt loop, each touch is a subtle nod to craftsmanship and the genius of Victor and the entire team who create some of my favorite denim in the world. Visiting the Curatory was an experience I had looked forward to for years, and it absolutely delivered. We stopped in three times during our stay, each time welcomed by a different team member who was just as personable, knowledgeable, and attentive as the last. They took the time to understand what I was looking for and offered guidance without ever feeling pushy. It felt like stepping into the heart of the brand I’ve admired for so long. I probably spent more than I planned, but I walked out with American made pieces that will last a lifetime and carry stories of their own. Worth every penny. Raleigh Denim continues to prove why they are in a league of their own.

Raleigh Denim has high quality jeans and jackets with a beautiful interior. Even if you aren’t looking to buy anything, I recommend just briefly looking around inside.

It's my fault for gambling on their "Sample sale roulette" but I expected a better product from Raleigh. I received a plaid button down shirt for my wife for $50 that was listed at $245 originally according to the tag. It was paper thin and barely fits compared to the medium she wears. The $25 tank was a very strange cut and won't work at all either. And then to no ones fault but my own, was expecting a pair of denim jeans when I chose from the jeans category and received 2 pairs of corduroy pants full of wrinkles and marks on them. Was sent the wrong size so the customer support was helpful to provide a packing label and told me they'd replace them with the exact pairs in the correct size. So I guess you get what you get.. can't complain or return anything but for some reason I expected a better product from Raleigh. So I'm left with a bad taste in my mouth and won't be able to return to them to buy anything new. At the very least I strongly discourage anyone from doing the sample roulette sale. Maybe its better for men's items though..

Just picked up two more pairs of jeans last week. They still had the style I liked (although I wish there were more color selections, but I'll just have to check back in a few months when they do their next season) and I was in and out quickly. Love that they take care of the alterations there so I don't have to make another trip to my seamstress.

Google
A destination for true classic denim lovers. You can see and smell the workshop, and the quality is exceptional. They truly do Japanese selvedge denim justice.

Google
These are the best fitting jeans I own, and super high quality. I will be buying another pair.

I spent $1100 plus the package protection option, I am still out $550 dollars, returned both pair and received only a $550 credit card adjustment. Yes one pair was washed but the pattern cut on this Cone Mills run was 1 to 1 1/2 inches shorter thsn they normally do. Customer service is at best a joke here. Horrible, Cone Mills Alexander cut 1 1/2 inches shorter. Did not realize until you wash and then you have pants that are to short. Stand on them and pull was the response Syd supplied. Really with a $550 pair of jeans. At first I let this slide, but the more I thought about it the madder I get. When they cut these pants for some reason they are 1 1/2 inches shorter than Nihon Menpu Alexander. You can see the new Cone Mills are the same as the washed Nihon Menpu, and the top pair washed cone mills are 1 1/2 inches shorter than washed Nihon Menpu and new Cone Mills. The response from Raliegh was they resolved the issue, yes with one pair they did refund. Second pair they did not. I washed the other pair before realizing the length difference. I sent this pair, actually both pair back on my nickel. At $550 a pair, give me a break. The Cone Mills has been a mess. This place is the worst in my opinion, don’t waste your time with customer service, which honestly doesn’t exist. The made in the good ole USA slogan isn’t enough to warrant the frustration. The Cone Mills run at $550 per pair was 1 to 1/12 inches shorter than their standard Alexander Nihon Menpu, but stated they were the same length. Now lets get into quality of this product, really. Check out the second picture. I’ll post their email response. They finally took them back and said it was a defect. The material was puffed out and looked awful. I can see all the layers, but my other ones did not have this issue. Customer service is a joke at this denim shop. You decide for yourself, look at my pictures. For this kind of money. If you can get a decent pair from Raliegh the jeans are nice. But consistrncy is just not there, along with poor customer service. It is not worth the frustration dealing with customer service. They are super slow to respond. Hi Roger, We understand your concern, but we want to assure you that this isn't an error. Both the presser foot and needle on this outer/middle seam have to go through 6 layers of tightly folded already-felled seams. You will notice that the felled seams on either side of the middle seam line up, and the top seam sometimes just can't remain 100% straight when running through the machine. This slight curve is present in a number of our jeans, and it is simply the human hand as these were not constructed using automated techniques. You may also notice this effect less in modern jeans as they are a lighter weight, usually not 100% cotton, and can therefore slip under the needle very easily. I hope this information helps! Take care, Syd

Google
Raleigh Denim Workshop worked their way into my Instagram feed and I've been following for a while now. I live four hours from Raleigh and ended up in the Curatory during a work trip. Can't say enough good things about the shop, the service (wish I'd have gotten the staff member's name) and of course, the jeans. I left with two pairs and I never thought I'd say this but, I will drive 4 hours to get my next pairs.

Yelp
I read about Raleigh Denim online and convinced my mother to take me there when I was visiting her from NJ. There were no other customers in the store and yet the sales lady didn't stand up, didn't greet us and didn't make suggestions that might suit us despite the both of us expressing interest. I'll stick to AG and Mother jeans. I can afford anything in the store but when I'm spending a lot of money, I want to feel appreciated.

Yelp
Incredibly cool shop full of high quality goods. Everything is made locally/in house right there in Raleigh (you can actually see them being made and the machines used), and trying on the jeans, they truly are some of the best you'll ever find. Inside, the room is curated incredibly, creating an inviting and unique environment to browse their selection. Looking at the details you can tell the passion, expertise and knowledge behind the crafting of every item, and while they are definitely quite pricey, if you can afford it they are worth the cost. The staff were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Would definitely recommend and will return.

Yelp
We ordered some denim from here to support a NC business for my grandson who needed new jeans for school. Jeans didn't fit so he returned them and we were only refunded for 2 out of the 3 pairs! Very disappointing with the cost of these jeans. Found customer service to be very uncaring and unwilling to make it right! I would not recommend this business to anyone they screw over Americans.

Jane C.

Yelp
Beautiful, artisan clothes. I'm totally hooked on the selvedge denim and am grateful they have women's styles.
google avatar

John E.

Yelp
Quite simply the best jeans I've ever owned. They're not cheap, and it's a small business with limited staffing, so weigh that when reading through other comments. But if you're looking for quality denim, this is it.
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
The jeans are great quality and worth the cost. They will hem them and send them to you if you live out of town. I received my jeans in less than two weeks.
google avatar

Grayson C.

Yelp
After some initial back and forth, Raleigh Denim came through and covered the cost of custom tailoring due to the complex nature of tapering the jeans with no direct access to their tailor. I appreciate the attention to customer service, as this is what you would expect from a high end company like Raleigh Denim. I love my Martin selvage jeans!

Yelp
Dear Raleigh Denim, What happened to us?! We use to have such fun times together, dancing, tandem bike riding, relaxing at the park, monster truck rallies. Then that poor service drove a wedge between us. Slow response times. Apathetic approach to customer service. "Yeah, we'll have those $280 jeans hemmed for you by tomorrow." Tomorrow came and went. Then the next...then the next... We had something special, then you killed it with your blasé approach to my needs. It's not me, it's you...goodbye.

Yelp
I've learned that "expensive" isn't always "expensive". An item can have a high price tag attached to it, but in my mind it's not "expensive" if the value returned is proportional to the price. So it goes with Raleigh Denim. Yes, you'll spend more on a pair of jeans here than you will at many other places. But for that price, you're rewarded with what might be the best quality pair of jeans currently available in America. The denim is made the way denim was made when denim was made to last. The quality of construction is second-to-none. The fit and finish are impeccable. And, as one other reviewer noted, they know their jeans and know how to do a proper fitting. I'd venture to guess that a pair of ill-fitting dad jeans will never ever leave this shop, and that alone does humanity a big favor. I bought a blazer from them last week, and all of the above applies equally to the blazer. Even my fashion fru-fru wife had to admit that it looks absolutely fantastic. The only problem now is that we're having a warm spell and I haven't been able to wear it outside ... but when it does cool off, I'll be wearing the hell out of the blazer ... and my Raleigh Denim jeans. There's also the added bonus of supporting a local business, AND a local manufacturer. Shopping at Raleigh Denim keeps your neighbors working. Literally. There's nothing expensive about that.

Yelp
A native son of NC and a non-fussy fan of raw denim, I was beyond thrilled that Raleigh Denim was formed and quickly began turning a profit. I was eager to support their local-centric work, and I did, buying four pairs of denim over several years. That translates to more than a grand out of my pocket. But I believed whole-heartedly in the mission, and the product was impeccable in craftsmanship and fit. My having spent a fair amount of money at RD doesn't entitle me to anything. However, I'd like to think it isn't unreasonable of me to expect a small amount of communication after reaching out. When the Cone Mills White Oak plant was closed, I felt it a great loss to the denim industry, and I imagined it would reverberate with huge impact at RD. Not to be melodramatic, but I thought it was simply tragic. So I sent an email to RD to ask what would happen as a result of the plant closure. I got no response. I figured they were busy, so I waited a couple weeks and sent a followup email in which I made it very clear that I was writing out of concern for their business and wanted to do all I could to support them in whatever came next. No response. I then reached out through various social media channels. No response. I have no doubt that was a chaotic time for RD. I also know that, when things are craziest at my own place of work and someone reaches out with sincere concern, I at least have the courtesy to send a quick response. We live in a time in which buying local, and the consequent social impact, has become very marketable. It's a thing you can say to suggest you care deeply about what happens in your business' relationship to the world at a micro level. When I invested in RD, I thought their mission was in earnest, but it appears to have just been lip service. The slogan honors people "who get s**t done." Perhaps taking five minutes to respond to someone who gave a s**t should be included in that handling of things. I wish y'all success, though I surely won't be a part of its fruition.

Yelp
While I have not been able to visit the shop in person, I had a fantastic experience ordering denim online from this shop. When there was a hiccup with the shipping carrier, Raleigh went above and beyond to correct the issue. They were responsive via phone and email, and I appreciated their advice as I was assessing my correct sizing, as it was my first experience purchasing raw denim. It is difficult to find high quality denim for women, and I was blown away with the quality of the jeans I ordered. It is great to support made in USA craftsmanship, and I loved seeing the signature inside my jeans of the person who created them. I will definitely be ordering from Raleigh in the future, and I hope to visit in person some day!

Yelp
Jeans made in Raleigh, that fit like a dream. Yes please. These guys will help you find the right pair of jeans for you because they KNOW their jeans, because they make them right there. They know which ones will shrink, which ones will stretch. They will even stitch an original hem on site for you with an ancient sewing machine...one of the sewing machines they use to make these jeans. No more "save the hem" crap. I love jeans. I love obnoxious designer jeans. These are my new jeans and I will be getting more.

Yelp
Raw denim has become a bit of a hobby for me. I was on the look out for a new pair so I decided to do my research. I was looking for something quality made in the good old U.S. of A, and all my research pointed me to Raleigh Denim. I visited the store, which is also where all of the jeans are made. I had a good idea of what I wanted, and the first pair I tried on was perfect. They were instantly my new favorite pair of jeans. The details are interesting, right down to the signature of the person who made your jeans on the pocket. I really like the fit too. These jeans are expensive, but in my opinion they are worth it. If you are in the market for some high end denim, this is a great place to look.

Yelp
Still trying to find your one true (pair of jeans) love? Then come to Raleigh Denim. The moment you slip on a pair, you'll know. These jeans are worth the money... you'll never want to wear another pair again. Fantastic craftsmanship, helpful service, and a beautiful interior. Just an awesome, local Raleigh business.

Yelp
My husband love raw denim. He does tons of research prior to getting a new pair. He likes to hunt down places that really take pride in the craftsmanship of the jeans. I heard him start mentioning Raleigh Denim about 2 years ago. He'd comment on the equipment they use or about the cotton harvesting. He kept talking about how when we are in Raleigh next we were going there. Our 2nd anniversary was this past June and as I was wracking my brains for a present I finally thought what would be better for him on the cotton anniversary than a pair of Raleigh Denim Jeans. I'm not normally a gift card buyer. I just think it's a bit of a cop out gift but I knew he needed to try them on. I called Raleigh Denim told them what I needed. In a few days I had my gift card, in a very stylish packaging with a sweet note wishing us happy anniversary. Well yesterday we were in Raleigh and the jeans were purchased and he loves them!! The storefront is tiny but you can see into the workshop and it is amazing!! All of the machines are gorgeous pieces of mercantile history.

Yelp
For those of you that know me well, you know that I like to wear jeans most of the time. I also like the jeans I buy to fit well and be of high quality. About 2 years ago my friend told me that I should check out Raleigh Denim Workshop. They are a local denim workshop and retail store that is described as "Classic with a bit of grit". I stopped in on a Saturday and received no greeting or even an acknowledgement of my presence. I asked an employee about the jeans and if there was anything I should know about fit or the materials. I was pointed in the direction of the men's jeans and told that the sizes could be found inside. There was no order or explanation of fit, so I selected a few pair and asked to try them on. I was pointed in the direction of the changing room. I liked the styles I had chosen but the fit wasn't quite right. I was then more frustrated that I couldn't get any help, so I left dissatisfied. A little over two weeks ago, my same friend and I were talking about Raleigh Denim again and he convinced me that it was just a fluke and I should give them another try. He admitted that he received very little help when he was there and that he had heard that other people felt the pretentious attitude while shopping there. I try to shop local when I can so my wife and I went to Raleigh Denim Workshop on Saturday, November 25th to see what we could find. We were greeted when we came in, but were given very little introduction to how the store was set up or any information about the product. We asked about the fit and were given a quick summary of what the names of the style meant. We proceeded to find all of the sizes we needed by searching through unorganized stacks of jeans. After about an hour of trying on several styles and sizes, my wife narrowed her selection down and I narrowed mine to six. My wife checked out and I asked the girl about a possible discount for purchasing seven pairs of jeans. She quickly told me that they don't normally do that, but that she could not make that decision. I asked who could and was told that only the owners could make that choice. She told me that she could hold the jeans for me and she would have the owners call me the next week. I agreed and left my contact info. After several days, I stopped by on my way through downtown and asked the same girl who I had spoken with on Saturday if the owner was available. After 15 minutes, she came from the back to tell me that they were too busy to talk to me and she promised to have them call the first of the week. I was a little put off, but left believing her and giving them the benefit of the doubt. After another week went by, we went back in today (December 9th) to just go ahead a buy the jeans. Even after being ignored time and time again, I still liked the jeans and was prepared to pay full price. We walked in the store and I went to look at a couple more pairs that caught my eye while my wife went to ask someone to bring up our jeans that were on hold. The girl came back and informed us that they "had to be put back on the floor because they were on hold too long". At this point I was in complete shock that this lack of customer service had reached the next level. I explained that my contact info was attached but no one ever contacted me. She said she was sorry. I asked her if they frequently ignore their customers with $2000 worth of jeans holding for a response. She said she was sorry. Needless to say I bought nothing at this store and will never buy anything at this store. I will also let everyone know what an awful experience I had every chance I get. I got better service in Beverly Hills while I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt at than at Raleigh Denim Workshop. So much for local hospitality. It felt more like pretentious hostility to me.

Yelp
Perfection... Dopeness... And Raleighwood Cool... This denim shop is a gem among gems!!! Asher (a young Lisa Bonèt but with sasss and funk) delivers a breathtaking experience as a leader and titan at this location. And Victor's welcoming energy, cool demeanor, wisdom and warm NC charm... #priceless We popped in to the shop from Cali and were blown away by the store. Asher's denim knowledge, approachability, and customer service rendered nothing less than impeccable... Flawless! And YES-- She woke up like that! Haha. #THIS store ranks in my top 3 denim stores in the world! I'd suggest you get familiar. --Rondrell

Yelp
After losing quite a bit of weight, I wanted to reward myself with a proper pair of jeans that fit 'just right.' Walking in on a snowy Saturday, I had the place to myself. The lady working that day was quite nice. I told her I thought I was looking for a pair of 34" waist or so jeans and she handed me two pairs. To my dismay, I was unable to button them up completely. Upon telling the floor salesperson this, she remarked that I should give them a few minutes. Apparently the pants are liable to stretch out as much as an half to full inch. And that they did. Upon seeing they fit in the waist, I was worried about them needing hemmed. The pants are made to have a 35" inseam and I'm normally a 34"er. Having a straight leg, the 35'ers were just fine. But it was nice to have the professional opinion. If i need to have them adjusted later, apparently that's no problem on premises. My wife was suitably impressed when I modeled the jeans. While the price is steep, having a locally made product, by hand mind you, sort of makes up for it. And it was my birthday, so I was in the mood to spoil myself. Having the pants numbered and signed by the owners is kinda cool too. And now I'm wearing a bit of Raleigh :)

Jill R.

Yelp
We bought a pair of men's jeans right before Covid and on the 4th or fifth wearing the pocket ripped out. We went to the store several times over Covid and the store was closed. We finally got back in today- and yes this pair of jeans has been in the back of my car for about a year. But for an expensive pair of what their website calls "the perfect Jean" you'd think they'd stand by their product. They gave us a card for a tailor. A Dept store Jean would be better- at least they'd fix or replace them.
google avatar

Ken E.

Yelp
Raleigh Denim is the real deal. I get compliments on them and they have aged wonderfully. The fit, drape and hang are all perfect. I wear them almost exclusively and have yet to wash them (and hope I never have to). Do I look 6'2" and like I can leap tall buildings in a single bound? not so much. But I like these pants enough to give them 5 Stars. Save your tips, spend the money and support real american craftsman who put out a fantastic product. Amortized over what I'm guessing will be years of wear, Raleigh Denim is a relative bargain. If you can just buy one, buy the best you can afford. You'll never look back with regret.
google avatar

Caroline S.

Yelp
I had heard about Raleigh Demin earlier, but knowing that they only made mens jeans at the time I tried not to get too attached. Thankfully they've expanded their line and also brought in other items (shirts, accessories) to compliment their jeans. Visited the shop during their sample sale. When I tried on a pair of jeans, they felt like butter. The jeans are very well made and are extremely comfortable. Of course, just knowing that you're supporting a local business is awesome. The jeans I purchased were $75 but will require hemming (at Raleigh Demin it would be $25), but if you were to buy a regularly priced pair of jeans ($225ish) it would be included. If you're like me and can't afford the reg. priced jeans, def. check out their sales!
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
Walked in to the store and talked to a woman working the floor, asked for my size and was told "yeah, we don't usually make that size, we might have some in black, but you should really try [size that's smaller] because they stretch after wearing." Never offered to find a pair in my size, never offered to take an order for my size. Just "nope, sorry." Pity, you'd think a place that prides itself on making its own jeans would actually offer to make a pair to order. Was excited about buying something local-made, even if was going to cost me a few bucks extra, disappointed their service is so poor.
google avatar

Christopher P.

Yelp
When I found out the last American denim cloth maker (cone mills) is closed, I went out to find the best raw denim jeans made using Cone Mills. Raleigh denim workshop didn't disappoint me. The Martin fit I bought is not only a soft and obviously top quality jean, it's a classic fit/design. My only gripe is that the company doesn't custom hem them for online purchases. For $315 a pair, I'd expect to be able to order both waist and length sizes. Now I have to find a tailor that I know won't do as good of a job hemming as Raleigh Denim Workshop would, and won't match the stitch color exactly.
google avatar

Nick I.

Yelp
I do not know the owners, but a friend of mine showed me a sample of these jeans and I went and picked some up. I am originally from North Carolina, so I am pretty excited about something like this taking place in the crib. Anyway, saw they weren't on Yelp, so I added them.
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
I love these jeans. The best part is that they are world-class wear and they are made from locally made materials, by local crafts-people. They fit and feel great and a great example of what American-made should be. I've not yet been to the Raleigh store, but I got my pair from Barney's Coop in Georgetown, in DC.

Ryan M.

Yelp
This is about the clothes I've ordered, not the store. I really want to love their clothes, especially because they're made in the USA. But all the clothes are wildly inconsistent in quality and sizing. Some are constructed great, some not so much. The fit is always different on the same sized items, some buttons barely hanging on by a literal thread. For the premium price you pay it's just not worth it.

Chris D.

Yelp
After reading in Men's Health about this company and having an overnight in Raleigh, I rented a car and drove to their factory downtown; about 20min from the airport. Not only did I get to meet Sara, one half of the husband/wife team that started the company seven years ago in their apartment, I also flew home with a pair of jeans that I can finally call "perfect". The price is easily justified by the quality, right down to the signature on the inside pocket of the person who made each pair. Seeing first hand the factory and hearing Sara explain the process and care put into each pair of jeans was more than enough to sell me. They even made two tiny "Jean crowns" for my twin babies after I mentioned them. I've worn the jeans twice now since my visit to NC last week and can't say enough good things about them; I will be ordering at least one more pair. Unmatched quality, employees who take pride in their work, an owner who believes in the product, Made in America.
google avatar

Mark J.

Yelp
BEWARE!!! DO NOT BUY from here! Horrible service while in NY store and Raleigh store. Jeans took 2 months to be delivered after purchasing from NY store. Staff in NY was useless and gave me improper sizing and care instructions. Even the care label gives you bad wash instructions. Jeans shrunk 3 sizes and were unwearable after 1 wash. Tried to talk to the owner, but he avoided me both times I visited. Although he had his staff ask me to move my car after I was blocking his car. What a Jag!! They basically stole $300 from me. There are many US made Jean companies that offer a better quality products and service. Guess this is what I get for trying to support American manufacturing. Wish I could give them 0 stars. The worse part was they denied accountability for the 1 month shipping delay and inaccurate care instructions.
google avatar

Rocky G.

Yelp
These are the best jeans that I've ever owned!!! I own a ton of jeans but find myself only wearing my Raleigh's. They are definitely worth the investment! The young lady that helped me even sent a follow up card, thanking me for my purchase and reminding me how great the jeans looked on me. Well played Raleigh Denim!!!!

Yelp
Walked in on a recently adventure in North Carolina. The selection was great and being able to view the cutters and sewers as they produce denim was amazing. The employees are truly artisans at what they do. When I arrived, there were a few people ahead of me (1 store employee and 2 dressing rooms) so I had to wait a few minutes (nothing to terrible). After asking a few questions about sizing (I am a weird size) and comparable denim, I was in the dressing room trying on a pair. The normal size I tend to wear was too big (hooray)and the next size down was perfect. Not only did I purchase the pair but am enticed to see what Raleigh Denim does next. The best part of the experience was hemming is done quickly (you don't have to wait a week like most tailors), on -site and easily (30 minute wait since 5 pairs were ahead of me and just the right amount of time to get some lunch).

Yelp
OK, redeemed. My friend wrote a note to the owner who was absolutely upset and apologetic for the poor treatment we received. He has since been quite gracious and generous. I would give them another chance - perhaps this incident will preclude others like it.

Yelp
Raleigh Denim, a quality for sure. There are lots of so called premium jeans but these people really do put the sweat equity into a great fittting and wearing product. Thus, it pays to look around a little and find one of their dealers to do it right if you cannot make it to the curatory.

Yelp
This was my first time in Raleigh Denim and so far I couldn't be happier. I have been wanting to come in and support this amazing local business for quite a while now and I finally had the time and funds to stop in. The young ladies working there, Hannah & Emma, we're beyond helpful. They took the time to explain all the different styles, were kind enough to answer my many questions about proper care and fit, and even custom hemmed the jeans based on my preference. Love the jeans I chose and I'm sure to be back for my next pair soon.

Yelp
I am sure the jeans are great. But who issues gift certificates that only last a year. Very disappointed with the customer service of this company.
