Forest Gate’s Best Restaurants | Where to Eat in Forest Gate E7 | Eater London

"It’s more likely that visitors will smell Tromsø before they actually see it. The waves of tantalising cinnamon perfume that dance on the wind promise nostalgia, joy, and comfort. All manner of cakes and buns are found at this Scandinavian bakery but it is equally good for a lovely lunch. The Norwegian waffles are a must try; spongey and slightly sweet, they are a delightful cushion for smoky sausage and crispy onion. An open mackerel sandwich on dense, dark bread is lifted by pickled radish and fresh cucumber, and warm cinnamon buns, twisted into soft and delicate knots, are an entirely expected highlight — best paired with homemade blueberry fizz." - Shekha Vyas

Came around at 11:30am. Soup was piping hot as they came freshly cooked. Cream of parsnips soup was balanced and had a lovely touch with the parsnip crisps. Butter was hard, which was due to the cold weather. Lychee and coconut drizzle was with a sweet glaze, the cake was moist. Would come here again.

One of the best coffees I had and the toasties are to die for!

The best cinnamon bun I’ve ever had! Gluten-free and vegan options. Friendly, welcoming service. Loved!

Lovely little cafe run by such kind and helpful people who seem super invested in their customers and wider community. I worked remotely here for a whole afternoon — great vibes, playlist, coffee, and the toastie, panzanella salad and kombucha were all top notch, too. Will definitely be back the next time I’m in the area!

Rock hard cinnamon bun, super stale and not worth 3.90£. The granola as well was almost 7 quid for a small cup!! Not worth it at all and super disappointing. Service was non existent and when asked if any dishes could be made more simply for a baby got told no and that everything was already made and ready to go. Would never ever come back!! Let's not talk about hygiene. Filthy tables (look at the picture of my baby wipes!) And gross stains all over floors and walls

Best cafe in the area, hands down. Brilliant professional service, characterful and lovely, coffee is great. The location is in the arches underneath the Overground, which adds an extra interest to the atmosphere of the place. Well worth the short stroll away from the main street.

Cute neighbourhood Nordic-style café with tasty breakfast options. Hip but not pretentious, and very friendly service. Waffles were excellent (especially the smoked salmon one), but it's a bit of a shame they only seem to have one waffle iron, so they come out one-by-one.
