"I knew him behind the bar at the Rambler, where he tended for five years after often coming in as a regular; he volunteered to fix things there, drawing on his early construction experience, and even affixed a wood-burned sign reading “run with me” to the side of the building. Colleagues and friends remember the sheer character he exuded, his unbridled love and interest in people, and the way he listened intently and treated every conversation as meaningful. The Rambler became a neighborhood fixture tied to those memories — friends will gather on the back patio for a memorial on Thursday, September 22 at 5 p.m., and many have suggested honoring him by listening to Townes Van Zandt’s “Fare Thee Well, Miss Carousel.”" - Janey Wong
