"The starting point for Mrs. Sayaka Horiuchi is her early life lived amid natural beauty. Considering that ‘the mountains water the village and feed the ocean,’ the dishes are prepared with a spirit of gratitude for ingredients from land and sea. Horiuchi nurtures relations with food producers nationwide who share her vision. Local vegetables are from farmers in Nerima, clams from fishermen in Kyoto. Her famous chicken offal stew is home cooking from her native Yamanashi Prefecture." - Michelin Inspector
If you’re near Shinjuku Station’s West Exit, I highly recommend this ramen shop. It’s a small place with just counter seating, but the soy sauce ramen is fantastic. I tried the “Tsukimi Ramen,” which has an egg in it, and it was delicious. When I visited, there weren’t any other foreign tourists, but I’m sure you’ll love it too. Definitely check it out!

So worth!! Got the chashu zaru style because of heat and prepare to eat! You see the first layer of pork on top, but there's more underneath! The portion is noodles is just perfect too! Broth was perfect umami, not too salty, well balanced. All this for ~1100 yen!

Such delicious ramen! My husband and I have the pork broth and it was delicious. The staff couldn’t speak English, but they were very helpful and friendly despite this. If you are not Japanese, I would recommend sharing a bowl with someone. My husband and I could have certainly shared. The serving sizes are massive!

A surprisingly good ramen spot with excellent noodles. While the broth and pork weren't to my taste, overall, it's a very solid ramen shop.

The soup is soy sauce-flavored, char siu pork is thick, the noodles are very springy and portion is generous. It is a ramen shop with a high CP value! Highly recommended!

Broth was excellent. Noodle portions are huge almost too much to finish. Wished the pork was more tender. Overall, not a bad one.

Japan has a bunch of ramen. I’ve traveled all over the country and I really gotta say, this place is my favorite. The chashu zaruramen (tsukemen) is my favorite. The chashu is the best part. A bunch of amazing pork! They really cook it right. The soup is bit salty (you can request lighter soup), but I love it. The place costs just over 1000yen so it might be a little more expensive than other places, but well worth it!

I was craving for some Tsukemen before heading out to Haneda airport.
There were a couple of places near the hotel I was staying. While most of them won't be open till 11:30am which pushes my time to catch transportation to the airport, Ramen Horiuchi opens from 11am which worked well for my schedule!
Their broth is soy sauce base which is different from most of places - mixture of tonkotsu and heavy fish stock. I actually liked their broth...not too rich/heavy, and flavorful. One person was dedicated to cook noodles, and another person was working on placing toppings and serving noodle to customers - they were both very efficient.
They only have bar-counter seats and you need to buy ticket from the vending machine inside before placing your order.
