Yelp
I was pretty surprised at how much I ended up liking this place. It's a small, low-key spot off Smoke Ranch and Rainbow. Me and my friend passed by it and decided to make it a hangout for the following week, and we did. The place wasn't very busy when we came in. We opted for lunch on a Tuesday. There was about two people at separate tables when we came in, but that was generally about it.
We were seated promptly, and they asked if we wanted any drinks. We just opted for water, but they did have some options, like your typical Japanese restaurant. The place is called Ramen House, but they actually have a lot of other options. They have ramen, along with about six to seven selections of sushi rolls, and they also do have some curry and rice bowls. I thought it was cool that they offered so many options, and they had pictures of the appetizers, which helped us choose too. For the sushi roll, we got the When Shrimp Meats Crab, which had spicy crab along with shrimp, avocado, and spicy mayo. It was simple, but super good.
Then, both of us opted for tonkotsu ramen. I got the shoyu broth, which was great, and all of the broths are made with black garlic oil, which is a plus. I feel like the price was awesome for the portion that you receive, and it didn't take long for us to get our food either. I had seen previous reviews of the place that critiqued the portion size and the general taste of some of the food, but I didn't have any of those problems at all. It's a perfect spot if you live in the area, if you don't feel like going all the way to Chinatown, for a good bowl of ramen. For an appetizer and ramen bowl, we didn't really spend much more than $52 total and that includes tip. I was pretty satisfied with the food and with the experience, and the server came back to check on us without being overbearing at all. I might come back here for a quick solo bowl of ramen when I'm craving it.
