A chef-run cart with long-simmered chicken paitan, tantan, and a cult-favorite tomato ramen. Axios Portland’s 2025 Bite Club praised its chashu; the cart’s own updates confirm daily service in the Nob Hill pod.

Google
One vegan ramen with a slightly thick blended vegetable broth. This is the soup I want the next time I have a cold. I love a creamy ramen! Good with added spice. Tastes almost buttery and the ginger adds a nice pop. Was a chilly evening, but nice sitting by the fire. I hope they do a vegan TanTanmen someday, because they would knock it out of the park! Not to be “that person,” but I just returned from Japan 3 days ago and tried as many veggie ramens as possible while there (I think I counted 25 different restaurants). Ramen Ippo helped cushion the blow of being back in the US with their friendliness and delicious ramen.

Google
Amazing! This was the best ramen I have had so far. I had the Tantan ramen, the broth was very rich and flavorful. It has scallions, cilantro, sweet corn, ground chicken and a hint of coconut. The spice level was also perfect. Highly recommend trying out the Tantan ramen. Only regret is that I didn't have enough time to try their other ramen, while I was visiting Portland.

Google
Wow. Peanut butter miso? Doubt all you want but the Tan Tan is ground breaking with he creamy and spicy deliciousness. The spicing goes from 1 to 10, at 5 it was perfect. Hot, flavorfull but not overboard so you get distracted.

Google
I accidentally stumbled across this place when looking for something else. Man, was it one of the best mistakes I have made since moving here. At first I was worried about the portion size but man was it perfect. Flavorful and I have been looking forward to the next time I need to come around the area to grab some more

Ramen Rob

Google
One of the top ramen carts in the area. Best noodles, excellent broths.

Google
Seriously the best ramen of my life! I wish I could fit more in my stomach. Definitely going to return!! So so tasty

Google
The Ramen was amazing!!! Every component in the Ramen complimented each other. The pork was so juicy and tender.

Google
Ramen here was delicious. We tried both the vegan potage and the tantan and they were both quite innovative and unique. I loved the potato base of the vegan potage and the red ginger topping. Super delicious. The tantan had a great mouthfeel and umami flavor to it. Very delicious. We are huge ramen fans and this is so far the best ramen we've found in Portland. Thank you!

Yelp
Atmosphere: Food truck with plenty of tables to sit. Good little Food Cart Pod Food: Delicious. I got the Shio which was just fantastic. Perfectly done thin noodles. Great chashu slice. Wonderful broth (although it began to get a little salty by the end of the bowl). Food was great! Price: $13 for a bowl which I found to be reasonable. It wasn't the biggest bowl but did the job. Service: A bit slow. They do one bowl at a time pretty much so if you're in a hurry probably not the best option Parking: Street parking. Can be a bit tough to find around there.

Yelp
The ramen here is fantastic! Get the Tan Tan and you won't be disappointed. Beware if the weather is too hot they may not be open :)

Yelp
Came to this food truck pod to try a different place, but ramen sounded too good to pass up. I ordered the Ippo ramen I enjoyed it sooo much! I thought the chicken broth was flavorful, but not too salty. The chashu pork was nice and tender. It came with 2 (halves) soft boiled eggs and they were cooked perfectly with a jammy middle. And most importantly (imo) the noodles were perfectly chewy! It was simple with not too many toppings, bit still so delicious. I have a hard time finding ramen I like, and this place definitely exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Ramen Ippo recently relocated to the Nob Hill Food Carts pod, which isn't as convenient for me, but hopefully he'll get more business at this location. Still the same delicious ramen! I prefer the Ippo Ramen, which is a chicken paitan broth. Husband got the spicy Tantan ramen, which comes with ground pork and peanut butter miso. Both are excellent! I've driven up there twice during the Covid-19 lockdown to get dinner to take home. The owner packaged the broth separate from the noodles so they wouldn't turn to mush on the 25 min drive home. I also tried the karaage meal box, which was delicious! Lots of crisp fried chicken on a bed of rice with a green salad on the side. I asked for the sauce on the side, to keep it from getting soggy during travel. Ramen Ippo also participated in Wisky+Ramen event in 2019, and they earned one of my votes for their ramen. They were up against of the best in P-town, and did very well. Definitely on my top 5 ramen spots in Portland!

Yelp
love japanese food and went to japan many times for ramen and kaiseki cuisine. So when we run into a food truck ramen we are so excited about it! The soup is delicious with the chicken broth base, the half flowing egg is a highlights in your mouth, the preserved bamboo shoots is full of flavour and the pork is tender and soft. While the ramen noodle is too hard for me, normally you can choose the Degree of softness in Japen.

Yelp
big fan of places during this time that allow for an open air dining experience! although dine-in is allowed now, it seems like most people are more comfortable eating outside. we visited these food carts on the weekend, which was a pleasant surprise bc i honestly never knew that this spot existed in nw portland! although it was pretty busy, we managed to get a good table with the turnover and ordered some really good food from the ramen cart. we ordered the tantan ramen (level 10 spice, jin, the ippo ramen in level 7 spice), and karage chicken. we tend to eat spicy, but it was so spicy/good that we mediated our portions. just the perfect amount though, we would say! pretty impressive for a food cart. the quality of the noodles were pretty good.

Yelp
Ramen Ippo is a food truck part of the Nob Hill food cart pod/station with good ramen that is decently priced. I took off 1 star because it isn't the most stand out or flavorful ramen I have tried, but I would come back because I would be interested in trying their other items and they are in a great location. I also thought the amount of broth in the tomato ramen was lacking. Plus, I found the ramen to be a bit pricey if you add more toppings and given only 2 slices of chasu pork are given in the Ippo Ramen for a bowl that is $11.00. For most other ramen places I've gone to, you usually get 3-4 slices and the pork is tastier. There is a fair amount of outdoor seating on the sidewalk dedicated to Nob Hill. Street parking is plenty!

Yelp
I was a bit disappointed after seeing so many 5 star reviews. I got the Ippo Ramen, which I found to be one note. The broth had a good chicken flavor, but that was it, it just tasted like chicken without any depth. Noodles were well cooked with a little chew; they use the straight kind here. Char siu was soft and tender, and there were a few strips of bamboo, which was seasoned, which I like. There's half a soft boiled egg, which was just a touch overcooked, and green onion. It just seemed plain as far as toppings and depth of flavor. What you see in the picture was the extent of toppings, there's not more below, only noodles. It wasn't bad, just underwhelming. Service was friendly.

Yelp
I only got the takoyaki so I can't comment on the ramen. The takoyaki was decent - good flavoring and can't complain about the octopus. The inside did seem a bit runny and doughy but I don't think it was undercooked. I would have preferred the inside to be a bit firmer but other than that it made for a nice light snack.

Yelp
Two words: Tantan Ramen. (Or maybe it's three? "Tan tan"...) That's not important. What's important is that you come to this place and order it! My friend and I actually discovered this place originally at a tasting event in January 2020. Their peanut buttery-flavor was so unique, delicious, and memorable, that as soon as I discovered they'd landed a spot next to my work near NW 23rd and Vaughn, I actually planned a day around getting a bowl from here! The location in this food cart pod is great, too; come with friends and you can all get whatever you're hungry for, and alcohol is available too! When you get an order to-go, the cooked ramen noodles and all toppings are in one bowl, and a second container of broth is provided for you to pour in once you get home. I haven't been able to get back here for a second round, but I'm excited to try the rest of their menu!

Yelp
Ramen Ippo is a food truck located in the Garage Sale Warehouse food pod located on SW Western Ave close to Uwajimaya. Ramen Ippo has a limited menu of six items in addition to some extra topping choices. Being a vegetarian I'm always excited to find items on a menu suitable for me. Two items here are vegetarian and could be made vegan. I ordered one of each of these items for my friend and I to share. The ramen salad was good but the tomato ramen was just ok. It is pictured with fresh cherry tomatoes but ours had canned tomatoes. Yuck, canned tomatoes? The chef/owner of Ramen Ippo is a very nice man. You can tell by watching him prepare the meals that he cares about what he serves. So I was very surprised to see the canned tomatoes. Maybe he didn't have time to run to Trader Joe's for fresh tomatoes but it would have been better to just skip them rather than use canned which have a definite smell and taste. If you are in the area try Ramen Ippo. It's worth trying. Just ask if he has fresh tomatoes.

Yelp
I've been always looking for a vegan Ramen place and I was so happy to find this food card that offers vegan Ramen Anyone visiting Portland this is a must try place
google avatar

Yelp
I have tried each one of them and all good. They should be in downtown (for me!!!). Chiciken ramen is not too rich (which is my taste) and Ramen Salad or Maze Soba are the best hot summer day. I will be back regularly.
google avatar

Nino O.

Yelp
A new food truck serving up some very delicious and creative ramen dishes. I tried the Maze Soba (maze means: to mix) with a side of very tender and delicious chashu pork and it was phenomenal. So much flavor in the Maze Soba with each ingredient adding something distinct to the whole dish. The chef is very experienced and passionate about his food. It made him so happy to see that I was enjoying his ramen. There are plenty of ramen shops on Beaverton and Portland, but definitely worth trying even just once.

Yelp
Considering it's a food pod and right up the street from our place, we do enjoy coming here for a quick ramen fix. It isn't Kyoto's but the ramen that Ippo ramen offers is right above decent. I always get an extra egg and you should too. When I come for ramen I get the signature Ippo ramen b/c I'm not a fan of peanut flavored anything. It's got good flavor and is a decent portion size. They noodles are okay and the broth is decent. I typically will eat the entire bowl in one sitting but I am full and pretty satisfied when I'm done, especially considering the price. Pricing is good for what they offer w/ the Ippo ramen coming in at $10 plus I think an extra $1 for the extra egg. We also have tried the Kara-age which was cooked well but was just lacking a little flavor for us. Regardless, it's our go-to for a quick and close/convenient ramen fix. The food pod park that Ramen Ippo resides in is not the biggest with like 7 food pods in it but there's decent seating including an extended seating area that a few parking spots were turned into and it's a good thing because it would be a problem had they not added the additional seating.

Yelp
Top notch Ramen. We are first and second timers trying ramen. I had the one with peanut butter in it and I was not disappointed! My partner had the ippo Raman and really liked. We will be back!
google avatar

Marlon A.

Yelp
Fast service, good ramen, I'm a tonkotsu ramen ( pork broth ) kind of person but no complaints on the chicken ippo ramen broth, noodles are good, and toppings are what you would expect of a ramen shop. Great location, will be back.
google avatar

Tribecca T.

Yelp
We loved it!! Price is amazing ($20 total for Ippo Ramen & Kara-age meal box). Ramen was very flavorful and the noodles were perfectly chewy. Portions were also generous! We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Monique P.

Yelp
Got the TanTan ramen which was delicious. Best ramen I've tried in Portland. Broth was unique, noodles had a perfect chew and loved the fresh herbs on top.
google avatar

Taka C.

Yelp
Best ramen I've had in Portland!! Being Japanese, I'm always trying to fill my ever-present ramen craving. I've been suggested a lot of different spots around town, but always leaving disappointed and moderately satisfied at best. However, after my meal at ramen Ippo, there is not a single doubt this place is the best I've had by far. I had the standard ramen, and I was blown away by the complex and savory flavor of the broth. Accentuating that were melt-in-your-mouth chashu that coats the inside of your mouth with its meaty goodness. My girlfriend got the tantanmen, and after having a sip of her broth, I wished I had gotten both types for myself because they were equally delicious. Will be returning frequently!!!

Yelp
Another great food cart at the Nob Hill Food Cart location. We always get 2 bowls cause we can never get enough. The broth in his IPPO Ramen is fresh, warm and yummy. Noodles are great. The owner definitely takes pride in his food and it shows. He also treats every visitor as a personal friend. This is the best ramen I've had outside of Japan.
google avatar

Johnny N.

Yelp
Driving toward Uwajimaya in Beaverton and found a hidden gem. Ramen Ippo food cart serves up Paitan Ramen, a chicken broth ramen with a delicious flavor, a little bit salty but overall good broth. The chasu pork belly was succulent with a smoky aroma, seared perfectly. Chef Daisuke worked amongst renowned pedigree in the culinary world during his time at Nobu in Las Vegas (yes that name drop surprised me) but his execution and skill shows in the food. The ramen had chewy noodles, simple yet flavorful chicken both, a soft boiled egg that melts in your mouth, very reminiscent of the soft boiled eggs in Japan (minus the orange yolk) Definitely worth a trip. Holding off on giving 5 stars since I want to try other items on the menu.
google avatar

Hall B.

Yelp
This is the best ramen I've found in Portland in 13 years. I'm a vegetarian and have had both their tomato ramen and their ramen salad. Ive taken a few meat eating friends here and they have been blown away with with everything they have tried. Ive noticed at times they tend to run out of certain things, and as a small business owner myself I view that as success. These people are very passionate about ramen and it shows in their food. They also hustle too, I've never had more than a 10 minutes wait. I hope one day this cart will turn into a restaurant, regardless they have earned my business for a very long time.
google avatar

Tracie L.

Yelp
I enjoyed the Ramen Salad, it was so fresh and looked amazing, I loved it from the first bite! Going back to try the Tomato Ramen and the Toro Chashu Pork Donburi, seen another customer with them and they looked delish! My new lunch place!
google avatar

R G.

Yelp
I was craving ramen and searched for areas around my neighborhood. This one got pretty high reviews so I decided to try it. I ordered the Paitan Ramen. So delicious! So flavorful! The broth was amazing, a little on the salty side, but it wasn't overwhelming. The pork and the ramen noodles were cooked perfectly. I wish the serving size was bigger -- I couldn't get enough! The person who was working (owner?) is very nice and made my order in a reasonable amount of time. I would definitely go back...
google avatar

Tessa Z.

Yelp
The Tantan ramen is really something special. The rich, lightly peanut buttery flavor was unique and delicious. I brought takeout home and it held up wonderfully because the broth was separated from the noodles and toppings. The 3/10 spice level was perfectly spicy but not overwhelming. Not only was the ramen delicious, but the chef and cashier were incredibly friendly and COVID compliant. Excited to go back!
google avatar

Lily K.

Yelp
Really good ramen food cart! Fresh and yummy! I ordered the tomato ramen and toro chashu pork donuts. SOOOOO DELICIOUS! They have a pretty good menu and you won't go wrong with any of them!

Stacey H.

Yelp
This was my first time at this cart. I called ahead of time around 4ish and they said it would be ready in 10 minutes and it was! I had the Maze Soba, it was so good. The broth was a little creamy and very flavorful. The noodles and ground pork were delicious. Definitely recommend and I will be back.

Rhaven R.

Yelp
Ramen was delicious however priced wrong and didn't come as advertised. I looked at the menu online and called it in. Vegan ramen listed at $10 and was actually $13. Didn't come with mushrooms as advertised. Also should come w green onion as all ramen should :)

Kevin M.

Yelp
Legit ramen! The tan tan ramen. Wow! Some broths are so one note and boring, this one is a keeper. If you are a spicy lover, this is the real deal. We typically order "as hot as possible" from restaurants and it comes out a medium, just watered down for white folk. We asked for 10/10 spicy and we were told no, too spicy, go 5/10. We compromised 8/10 and it was seriously spicy, delicious!
google avatar

Malyta V.

Yelp
The owner was very nice! Food was delicious! I really enjoyed this place! It has definitely made it to my top of my favorite Ramen places in the area. Will definitely be coming back to this place more often!

Susan D.

Yelp
This was the beat ramen I have ever had. We had the shoyu and vegan ramen which were made with the freshest ingredients. The pork gyoza was incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection.
google avatar

Nick C.

Yelp
Changed review to 5/5. Great ramen, and the person running the cart offered to get me a free Tan Tan due to a prior mishap. Not necessary, but much appreciated nonetheless! I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a hot, refreshing bowl of ramen! Great stuff!
google avatar

Alex D.

Yelp
Great value for the portion, I got the fried shrimp meal box. Comes with 3 shrimp patties and a few bites of the fried chicken, small salad all on a bed of rice. It was so delicious, and the gentleman running the cart was great too! I'll be back soon...
google avatar

Remy N.

Yelp
I spent a few years in Japan, and miss having easy access to hot, specialty ramen. After repeatedly trying a number of places in town (including Afuri, Kayo, Marukin, Ryoma, Kizuki, Yuzu, Hapa) Ippo's deceptively humble food cart may be my favorite. The paitan broth was creamy and savory and almost burn my tongue hot, and the noodles were thin and slightly al-dente. I anticipate some more taste comparisons in the near future...
google avatar

Yow C.

Yelp
Ramen how it should be. A bit salty, but unique. Flavors that really pop, not some plain tonkotsu. Strong sesame flavor, mmm. The broth is the real winner here, although the rest of the dish nicely compliments the broth. Really hate that this place is moving to 23rd, but I will get this when I'm in the area.
google avatar

Shay F.

Yelp
I've always thought ramen was kinda "meh". I've never tried any that blew me away... that is, until I found this place. Man! I tell you this ramen is the best thing I've ever put in my mouth. Not only does it taste amazing, but it makes me feel better when I'm sick, or hungover. Come here!
google avatar

Payton G.

Yelp
Such amazing food and the sweetest owner. Got the Tantan ramen and with an egg in it and wow it's only been a week and I'm craving it. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Norah B.

Yelp
Found this little gem by chance. Ordered the Paitan ramen. It was delicious! Pork was perfect! Charred perfectly and not too fatty. Noodle to broth ratio was great. The egg was outstanding not underdone or overdone. And for under $10 you can't beat the price. Owner was very nice. I will definitely go back as some of the other ramen places in town keep going up in price with smaller portions. Can't wait to try his other menu items.

Imogen K.

Yelp
I wish I'd taken a picture of their beautiful fried oyster bento, but it suddenly and mysteriously disappeared shortly after I received it.
google avatar

JD G.

Yelp
OMG. Reminds me of authentic ramen I had in Japan. So glad I found this place. The chef is real Japanese who knows ramen. Highly recommended.

Northern N.

Yelp
Oh the vegan potage ramen. So good! It's great when you can have a vegan option and not feel like you're going without or giving up a lot of flavor. Nothing is missing here compared to a non vegan option. It's a good portion and they have an extra shaker of red pepper flakes if you'd like to make it spicier - that extra bit of spice really hits the spot.

Abi G.

Yelp
Super customer service. Ordered the Karaage chicken they were out of rice and threw in cold noodles instead. Food came out quick and hot.

Nicole N.

Yelp
My sister & I started coming here when we were waiting for Boxer Ramen to reopen, but honestly this place can't be beat! The ramen is incredible and the service is as well. It's become a weekly routine that we look forward to

Emmet S.

Yelp
I went to the food cart location off of Thurman and man am I disappointed. I ordered the "Ippo Ramen" and was greatly disappointed. What I received for $11 was essentially chicken noodle soup with half an egg, green onions and a small, flavorless piece of pork. Noodles were good but besides that there is nothing going on. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and try it spicy next time if I decide to go back but bad broth can't really be helped much. I've made better top ramen.

Mimi M.

Yelp
Not worth $11... Nothing in it. I feel like I over paid for top-ramen and added canned corn.

Jarrod M.

Yelp
So so good, they only have 3 options for Ramen but would be happy to any at any time. Easy on the spice, i went 1 level hotter than their recommendation and I could barely finish the bowl.

Lindsey S.

Yelp
This is the best ramen I've tried in Portland!! This ramen has so much flavor and the fresh herbs are a great addition.

David B.

Yelp
My first time trying real Ramen, the Ippo Ramen, and it was great. I should've mentioned that when I was ordering, but the food is great, and warm me up nicely on a rainy December day when working in Portland from California. A plastic bib might help those of us less experienced with chopsticks and noodles/soup ;)
