What can be better than Ramen on a rainy day? I'm so glad I drove by the Ramen Lab, and lucky for me, there was nearby parking available. If you're familiar with Atlantic avenue, you know how difficult or expensive it can often be to find parking here. Thankfully there are a few parking garages you can use as well, and one of them is across from Ramen Lab.
The restaurant is quite straightforward, no fuzz. Simply set up with some high tables, as well as regular seating tables and chairs both inside and outside. Although I would typically recommend seating outside, with all the rain today, inside was definitely the best choice.
Once inside, we were seated quickly without the need for a reservation. And the service was not only fast, but also pleasant.
We ended up ordering quite a few things to try:
First, Korean ribs. These were bright, spicy, and almost fall off the bone! Completely delicious! We also ordered the maguro truffle which was a cold appetizer consisting of a mixed greens salad almost, with seared tuna and a dollop of wasabi aioli and a balsamic truffle soy, super fresh and light. For the main courses, we ordered the tonkatsu ramen and the burnt ends kimchi fried rice. Both were really good. I did expect the tonkatsu to be thicker in consistency, and slightly more flavorful, but the chashu pork was perfect I terms of flavor and consistency (melted in my mouth and the smokiness and savoriness woke up my tastebuds). The fried rice was the perfect level of spiciness and with really big portions. I could add even more kimchi and thicker cuts of the pork on the rice vs the multiple small pieces on the top would have been better, but overall really delicious.
