11 Essential Ramen Shops in San Jose and the South Bay | Eater SF

"If you don’t mind a line, then Ramen Nagi is a solid option for flavorful ramen and a dynamic dining experience. With bar seating and an open kitchen, the restaurant is small but welcoming. The shop is acclaimed for its highly customizable menu, as diners can choose the levels of salt, broth density, noodle doneness, selection of meat, and extra toppings. The Original King, followed by the Red, Black, and Green King, are some of the most commonly ordered bowls, which each embody different flavor profiles as varied iterations of classic tonkotsu ramen." - Paolo Bicchieri

Ramen Nagi Opens Second Bay Area Location in Santa Clara | Eater SF

"Inside Westfield Valley Fair mall in Santa Clara, I found Ramen Nagi's new stateside outpost — its second in the U.S. and second Bay Area location after Palo Alto — located at 2855 Stevens Creek Boulevard adjacent to Macy’s Men’s and Home. Known for highly customizable bowls and vibrant, fusion broths, the restaurant reflects chef Satoshi Ikuta’s Hakata-style training: he started Ramen Nagi as a pop-up in 2004, won Tokyo’s Ramen of the Year in 2013, and the brand now has 35 branches across Asia. The space has a contemporary Japanese aesthetic with red, black, and pale wood, and it centers on classic pork-based tonkotsu soup offered in basic, black (squid ink), spicy red, or green basil versions, plus a vegetarian option limited to 20 bowls per day. I liked that you can either trust the chef or fully customize your bowl — choosing flavor strength, oil richness, amount of garlic, pork style (sliced loin or belly), vegetable toppings, spice level, and noodle thickness/firmness — and it’s open daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5:30 to 9:30 p.m." - Janelle Bitker

Ramen Nagi to Open a Second Location in the Bay Area | Eater SF

"After opening its first stateside location in Palo Alto, I’m looking forward to Ramen Nagi bringing more of its customizable bowls to Santa Clara’s Westfield Valley Fair; the chain—which has more than 35 locations across Asia—is known for vibrantly colored broths such as black king (squid ink), red king (spicy broth), and green king (basil). There's no exact opening date yet, but expect it sometime this fall." - Janelle Bitker

This is one of the iconic ramen places in Bay area and I wanted to give it a try…waited in queue for about an hour to get in on a weekday for lunch…was already super hungry by then. We had vegan and the spicy ramen. One of the best broths and the spice level is kickass. Loved the texture of noodles and the richness of broth. The complimentary bean sprouts are tasty and be sure to order edamame too. Simple menu, full stomach!

Google
Overall ill give it a 4/5 solely for 2 reasons 1. I got to the resto 20mins before opening and the line was already 25-30people long. And i waited an extra 15 mins after that. Luckily i was by myself so i could sit wherever. I can’t see my self waiting an hour. 2. The serving sizes were smaller than expected. They were smaller than the original in Shinjuku and roughly the same size as the Philippines. But with tax and tip it costs 2x more expensive than that of Japan and roughly 6 dollars more than the philippines. One thing is that Ramen Nagi is consistent. I always get the original and I always love that they never oversalt it and the flavor profile stays very consistent throughout the meal taste wise it will always get high praise from me The staff was very accomodating and they moved fast and when needed they were very attentive. I will always be a Ramen Nagi fan, but ill stick to the Asian branches because I get more bang for the buck. But still I love their ramen!

Google
Absolutely loved my visit to Ramen Nagi in Valley Fair! 🍜✨ The ramen was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced — the broth was creamy, the noodles had just the right texture, and the toppings were fresh. I tried the Veggie King. You can also customize your ramen and the spice level, which makes it even better! The only con is the wait time is really high.

Muthu Kumar C.

Google
Ramen Nagi at ValleyFair mall across Santana Row is known for fast moving long lines. Long lines are there for a reason. One of the best satisfying brothy ramen you will have in Bay Area. Veggie Ramen is really special here. Served with hash browns and an optional onsen egg. I have lived in Tokyo, Singapore, and Seattle and tasted great authentic Japanese food in all those cities. Ramen Nagi has a unique westernised flavor with the authentic feel.

Victoria P.

Google
The broth is very good, fatty and rich in flavors. The cons is the long wait, we waited for 40 mins before we could get in. There’s not a lot of meat either, but it’s the nature of ramen, so it’s not a complaint here, just a warning to ones who think they will get lots of meat in a ramen bowl. Overall, very good experience

Google
The OG and our fav in San Jose @ramennagiusa in Valley Fair Mall. These guys have it down to a science. The lines are long, but move quickly. They hand you a sheet to check off what you want while you wait in line, noodle thickness, spiciness, condiments… Choose your broth, green is a basil garlic oil, red spicy and black- squid ink for a dark broth. I’m a traditionalist and always get their original tonkotsu broth. Pork cha shu or kakuni (thin slices or chunks) I like the cubes of pork belly and theirs is melt in your mouth tender 👍 on each table is a condiment jar filled with seasoned bean sprouts. Don’t skip them! So good and it’s complimentary! Their broth is on point. Ramen egg is jammy 👍 it’s also extra, but worth it. Chicken karaage solid. If I’m looking for ramen near me, this is my first choice. But by all means Marufuku and Tsujita are great options! #noodles #ramen #bowlfoodissoulfood #3jamigos #eater #southbayeats #tsujitasj #ramennagi #porkbelly #valleyfair

Google
Great Ramen, was not disappointed at all. The line to wait is long, but thats to be expected when a restaurant has great food. We were in and out in 30 minutes and the food was delivered to the table quickly. We would definitely go again, but there is also a couple other Ramen places close by that we would like to try.

Conrad P.

Google
Delicious ramen shop. The meal goes by quick, but be prepared to queue up for 30 minutes, give or take. The place is popular, so the crowds are typical, but it's more due to a small footprint and limited seating. Nothing unusual, just typical offerings for this type of cuisine. The broth is excellent and the extra soft boiled egg went well with the dish. Service was fast and efficient. Staff are friendly and courteous. Prices are comparable with other similar eateries.

Gursharan G.

Yelp
Great service, the server that went by the name of Richard explained everything to me when it was my first time eating here. He was extremely nice and patient with me when I was unsure of what to order. Give this polite young man a raise! Will definitely be back here.

Yelp
One of my favorite ramen spots. Always busy with a long line. About a 20 min wait on a late Monday night. Ordered in line with very customizable options ranging from saltiness, oil, spice, noodle preference, and toppings. I got the red king spicy level 3 with heavy garlic and added on a boiled egg. Aromatic and flavorful broth. Nice spicyness to it. The thin noodles were perfect. Egg perfectly boiled with the yolk gushing out. Add the seasoned bean sprouts on the table along with other spices to enhance the flavor! Consistent ramen place! Easy menu to customize and has other sides such as gyoza and chicken karaage.

Yelp
It's one of my friend's favourite ramen spots in the Bay as she is vegetarian so an annual trip here is required. We came on a Friday evening around 6 and there was already a line (although not crazy long). We were promptly given the order forms to circle our preferences for the ramen. The menu isn't extensive but they do have some off menu items like gyozas and chicken karage. We ordered the vegetarian ramen for the hash browns and they were so satisfying! Honestly I thought the vegetarian ramen was maybe heavier than the regular tonkotsu based broth since it's probably made with soy milk. The quality of the ramen is always solid here so really no complaints. They seem to always be in a hurry though so if you are looking to not be rushed through dinner, this place is probably not for you!

Yelp
Came on a Monday night around 6pm. The line wasn't crazy long but had a good amount of people. We still only waited about 20 minutes. The set up on all the tables is perfect. Extra oil, sesame seeds, salt, and TISSUES! Loved that touch, so useful. We tried the chicken kaarage and omg amazing. Fried to absolute perfection yet still so meaty and juicy. The flavor outside is heaven along with the cabbage, lemon, and sauce garish, so delicious! I tried my husband's red king and boy was it spicy but still very good. I had the original king. The chasu was a little fatty but overall still a great bowl of ramen. I added an egg and so worth it. The egg comes whole and was soft boiled perfectly. I love that you can customize salt/oil levels and noodle firmness.

Yelp
Got nothing to do, looking to kill some time? Ramen Nagi is the place. I waited a few years for the lines to go down, but it never did. Even on a Monday, there was a long line. The service is quick, while your waiting, they hand you a paper to order your customize ramen. After seated, it doesn't take long for your order to arrive. Note, egg is not standard, it's extra. The ramen is solid, the thin noodles coats the broth, served with slice cha shu. Love the complementary bean sprouts, goes well with the ramen. Tip, for quicker service, best to come by yourself or with one other person. Anything more, takes longer to be seated. If your shopping and have time to kill, definitely worth trying. Otherwise, Im not crazy about the ramen to deal with parking and waiting up to 1hr in line.

Yelp
Man, why is there always a line. Maybe I go to Japan too often. Maybe I've aged and don't like rich, salty oil coating my tongue on every sip of their soup. Or maybe due to old age I've become extremely impatient about lines. I think Ramen Nagi is just okay. I've had their chef's recommendation on my latest visit cause it's been so long since my previous one. One of the strengths of Nagi is you could modify your order to the tee. I would go against the grain, don't go with the chef's recommendation of flavor, and get the lightest broth, spice, garlic, green onion, and softest noodle you can get. It would still be relatively heavy though. It's very tight inside. It's the Japan experience for sure. Those prices are still very much Post-Pandemic America though. I don't think it's worth waiting an hour for, though it is a very comfortable wait inside the mall. Ichiran is way better.

Yelp
I stopped by Ramen Nagi for lunch today. The line was very short, which was great for me. It's usually very long. I only had to wait 10 minutes for a seat. They give you a form to fill out, while you are waiting in line, so you can make your ramen selection with specifications. I chose the original king ramen with chashu pork and added a Japanese style egg. After I was seated my food came out within a few minutes. It was so fast. The broth was so delicious and the thin noodles had a nice chew. The pork was so moist and tasty. The egg was perfectly jammy in the middle. It's small inside so there is limited seating. That's why there is always a line outside. The staff are super nice and very efficient.

Yelp
Ramen Nagi's Pumpkin King is back for a limited time, and I'm absolutely obsessed. If you're seeing this review today, you have until tomorrow (November 4th) to try it! This seasonal ramen comes back every year, and it's easily one of my favorites, right up there with my go-to Green King with level 10 spice. Don't be thrown off by the color of the noodles or broth -- it's ultra-creamy, perfectly balanced, and full of rich flavor. The crispy pumpkin chips stayed crunchy even after soaking in the broth, and the mix of cabbage and soft potatoes made every bite hit perfectly. The lines can look long, but don't let that scare you! They move quickly, usually within 30 minutes, and it's always worth it. Service here is consistently efficient, the team is amazing, and the experience is always smooth from start to finish. I especially want to mention Albee, the manager, she's so kind and welcoming every single time. I've been going to Ramen Nagi for years, and the taste is always consistent no matter how busy they get. If you're visiting, start with the Pumpkin King, then try Green King next. My recommendations: *Green King: My personal favorite. I always order it with level 10 spice. If you love spicy flavors and something a little cheesy and savory (pesto with bacon), this is for you. Super underrated but this king is so good! Of course, adjust to your own spice level! *Red King: The classic bold spicy bowl with minced meat and deep flavor, always satisfying. *Black King: Made with squid ink for a slightly saltier, richer broth. *Original King: Perfect if you want something simple and classic with tonkatsu broth. *Veggie King: Surprisingly delicious even for meat lovers, the broth is creamy, and I love adding a side of pork belly or meat to make it heartier. Consistent, flavorful, and run by an incredible team! Ramen Nagi never disappoints. I'm already counting down until the Pumpkin King returns next year.

Yelp
I was told this was life changing ramen, but everyone's life is different and it did not change mine. Do I think it was worth it to stand in the ridiculous long line to eat here? No and I don't understand why so many do. BUT, if you do stand in line, they take your order while you're outside so once we were seated, got our food 2 minutes later. The green king is basil Parmesan ramen which sounds ridiculous but if you want something unique this is it. They also have squid ink ramen. The staff will recommend first timers just go with the normal ramen. And to me, didn't stand out enough to wait 45-60 minutes.
google avatar

Yelp
We went on a weekday night and the line was shorter. It was my first time eating here so the worker helped walk me through the menu with all the flavors and toppings. I enjoyed how I could customize the base and toppings based on my preference. While waiting for the ramen, we snacked on the bean sprouts. I loved how the meal wasn't as heavy as my usual ramen experiences. The broth was flavorful and the meal was super tasty. The restaurant is a smaller space so the usual wait time makes sense but definitely worth trying.

Yelp
Ramen Nagi is the ramen place that I visited the most in the Bay Area. I have tried their Original, Black, and Red King from time to time depending on my mood but my favorite is definitely Original King with thick noodle. I think Nagi have the best tonkatsu ramen broth. I also enjoyed their karaage and gyoza too, always have to order it whenever I went here with friends. The line is long but move pretty quickly due to the way they operate, you will fill out the form before get seated, food came out in about 5-10 minutes. Service always quick and friendly during all of my visits, but they move fast, understandable since the store always so busy. I enjoyed the decoration and ambience of the store, remind me of authentic Japanese ramen store in Japan vibe.
google avatar

Lewis C.

Yelp
To avoid the long lines to get in, we went on a weekday about 30 minutes before closing - that worked! We were seated in about 10 minutes. The manager who seated us had a super friendly personality and promised our food would be out in less than 2 minutes. He was right! We had two types of Ramen, Chicken Karaage, and Chashu Rice. Everything was nicely seasoned, well prepared and just plain delicious. It's no wonder why this place is so popular. We can't wait to come back again.
google avatar

Benjamin T.

Yelp
Solid ramen in valley fair that almost always has a line We waited 1hr from 445PM on a friday Service was fast as u basically order while in line to optimize seating for everyone Got the original king tonkatsu ramen and black king or black garlic ramen Great rich flavor and good ramen noodles Chicken karaGe was also solid and super flavorful Overall would come again if I don't needa wait too long
google avatar

Nu Nandar A.

Yelp
I ordered the Veggie King with egg, and my friend went with the Original King with extra pork belly and chashu. I chose spice level 7 because I love spicy food, and it was perfect balanced heat without overpowering the naturally sweet broth. Tip: get the hash potato on the side so it stays crispy instead of soaking into the broth. I actually finished my entire bowl which is rare for me and even craved it again the next day. We came on a Thursday after 6 PM and the line wasn't too long. The space is small, but the service was fast and friendly. I'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
I have lots of good review about this place. I was finally in this neighborhood to try out Ramen Nagi. The line was already long on a weekend afternoon around 4:45 pm. People were lining up to wait for the place to open. Even the line was long, but the service was efficient. The server took your order while you waited in line, so it won't take long for your order to arrive once you were seated. The interior is very lively and welcoming. This place offered a simple menu with only 5 types of ramen for you to customize. First, pick 1 of the 5 types of ramen that you want. Then, select an option in each of the 7 categories. I selected 2 types of ramen to try. Ramen #1 - Original king Light salt Normal richness in oil With no garlic With Pork belly With Cabbage Nagi sauce: No spicy Normal Thin noodles Ramen #2 - Black king (squid ink) Light salt Normal richness in oil with normal garlic With pork loin With Cabbage Nagi sauce: level 1 spicy Firm Thin noodles If you love spicy, you can adjust the Nagi sauce (spicy) level all the way to 10. I love the taste of the ramen soup base with level 1 spicy level, the Black king (squid ink) and the pork belly. I will come back to try other combinations when I am in the area.
google avatar

Anh-Thu T.

Yelp
My favorite ramen spot in the Bay Area! I've been here so many times, and it hits the spot every time. This place gets busy, even on weekdays, so I definitely recommend going right when they open to avoid the wait. I always get the Red King because I love my ramen spicy! The broth is rich and flavorful, and the noodles are always cooked perfectly. It's a very casual spot with quick service. A must-try for any ramen lover!
google avatar

Jacob C.

Yelp
Be prepared for a very long, wait possibly more than an hour. However, it is well worth it. They are efficient in the fact that they give you the menu to fill out when you're in line. Once you sit down, they will take your menu and they brought my food to me in less than five minutes. This bowl of ramen is a flavor blast while not my favorite in the Bay Area. I would say that I do crave ramen nagi every so often.
google avatar

Prima B.

Yelp
This spot inside the mall did not disappoint. We're always on the hunt for great ramen wherever we go, and this place delivered. The broth temperature was perfect and the flavor was on point. I just wish the vegetarian ramen had a bit more variety in veggies--beyond the spinach and two shiitake mushrooms, it felt a little sparse. The line was long but worth the wait.
google avatar

Curtis K.

Yelp
We heard that ramen nagi was bringing back the crab king. We were excited to try it. We got in line and waited, they do not have a-lot of servings of the Crab King, Perhaps only 20 servings. If you are not the first round of people to go in, chances are low. You can only change the spicy level, type of noodle thick or thin, and the firmness level of the noodle. You cannot alter any of the other options when getting the Crab King. Will talk about this later, We also ordered some gyoza as well. The gyoza was nicely fried. It is interesting that it was turned upside down. The taste was great, the sauce went well with the gyoza. Definitely would get again. The crab king, presentation was great. I liked the seaweed that went around the bowl. The crab itself was nicely fried. Flavor was alittle too salty for me. The broth was already too salty. It was unfortunate that i was not able to adjust the salt level. The chashu was tough and not soft. Overall i am alittle disappointed in the crab king. Overall i feel that Nagi's broth and flavoring is more on the strong side by default which is fine. I feel next time i will get the regular, and tweak the flavoring to my liking.
google avatar

Anny O.

Yelp
My favorite ramen in the bay! I like the texture of the noodle and the broth is very flavorful and tasty. It does feel very rich so I have to drink a lot of water afterwards but it's worth it. I also like the bean sprouts that they give on the side. Helps to balance the saltiness of the broth.
google avatar

Sarah I.

Yelp
Was the line worth it? For the one time, yes, would I do it again, no. Kaiju in SF tops this fs for me. Was it still good? Yes. I liked it and the chicken was really good. If I were to go again I think I'd get the original with a little spice and thicker noodles than the chef recommends. They said the spicy one was a level 3 spicy, they lied, it was pretty spicy and I have a decent spice tolerance.
google avatar

Kevin S.

Yelp
Well worth the wait. We got lucky and the line wasn't long so we jumped in, not planning to go here. There were about 7 parties in front of us and it only took 10 minutes to get seated. Once we sat, food was out in 5 minutes The actual food was so good. We got light oil and I got extra garlic. Flavor was perfect. The pork chasu was super tender and not too fatty. Probably the best ramen I've ever had. No wonder there's always a long line
google avatar

Peter P.

Yelp
I've always had a soft spot for ramen nagi as I love my ramen with option of spices. My favorite go to is the red king and their curry king would be my 2nd option. The curry king was a limited edition with soft crab and the gyoza is also my favorite aside from the chicken karage. I always loved spicy ramen and I have yet found another place to really compare. Wait times can be crazy in the weekends so plan accordingly
google avatar

Yelp
Anytime we would go down to Westfield at Santa Clara, we would see this massive 30-40 people line outside of Ramen Nagi and always wanted to try it. The first time we tried this spot, we came right in the morning when the mall opened and waited for Ramen Nagi to open up and yet there were still about 5-10 people waiting outside so it seemed pretty hyped. And hell, it somehow lived up to this hype. While in line, someone will hand you a little ordering card with every option you can get in your ramen as well as appetizers. If it is your first time they will recommend you to choose the Original King flavor which is the traditional tonkatsu broth as well as checking the Chef's Recommended customizations like how much garlic, tare, and chashu. The food comes very quickly once you are seated. At the table there are other toppings like shichimi spice and sesame pepper bean sprouts (probably one of the best side dishes I've ever had). The ramen was MAGNIFICENT. So rich and flavorful and the noodles had an incredible mouthfeel and chew. The Chashu (and pork belly I had the second time we came) was some of the best I've had too. We both cleaned our bowl because of how good this was. We have come another time afterwards and while we were about 20-25 people behind, it still only took about 20 ish minutes to get into the restaurant and get seated. Honestly one of the few places that waiting longer is still worth it to try this at least once.
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
I'm not quite sure what the hype is all about this ramen parlor, because whether it is about food quality, or having an authentic Japanese ramen parlor system, the line and wait are not worth it. While it is easy to find inside the shopping mall, the line can get long (especially on weekends), and the turnover time per table is about 15-30 minutes, so it is not slow. As you will also have the opportunity to choose a menu from a customized sheet while waiting, you will submit it upon seating. However, there is a chance you won't be seated at a separate table just for your party, where you may be seated with other people, which is not ideal for a family gathering. While the food comes out relatively quickly, within 5 minutes, and is well served, the flavor can be uneven when both of us order the same customization. Although we were both extremely hungry from the wait, the food quality was a disappointment. Plus, the broth was not warm enough. It almost felt like a quick 30-second microwaved soup. I also felt a bit pressured to enjoy the food due to the long line staring through the window. Perhaps having a long line could be a good strategy for the business, but it's not ideal for the customers. This place would be ideal for those who would like to experience a Japanese ramen parlor firsthand before visiting Japan for an authentic ramen experience, or who would like to have a ramen in a medium-cold soup.

Yelp
Ramen Nagi has been on my list for a while, and it lived up to the hype. We came on a Saturday and waited about 45 minutes before being seated, which honestly felt right for a ramen shop this popular -- very much like the bustling lines you see outside the big names in Tokyo. I loved how customizable each bowl was, with choices for broth richness, garlic, pork, oil, and veggies. We tried three of their signatures, and each had its own personality. The Original King delivered that classic tonkotsu comfort -- silky, savory, and full of umami warmth. The Black King stood out with a striking squid ink broth layered with garlic and sesame for a smoky, earthy depth. And the Green King surprised me with its fresh basil aroma and parmesan accents, turning the broth into something vibrant and unexpected. All three had perfectly cooked noodles with the right bite, and the toppings -- especially the marinated egg and tender chashu -- made each bowl even better. Service was prompt and attentive, and even though we never felt rushed, there's a natural rhythm here -- you're mindful of the long line outside while still enjoying your meal. Ambiance is exactly what you'd expect from a lively, family-friendly ramen spot, and the energy in the room only adds to the experience. For the quality, flavor, and customization, the value is excellent, which explains why this place is always busy. Ramen Nagi makes every bowl feel personal, and each one left me wanting to come back and try more combinations. Definitely worth the wait.

Yelp
Roughly a 25 minute wait Tuesday evening. I appreciate that they pass out the mini menus in line to speed things up. Once seated, order is taken and food comes fairly quick. Such a simple menu but many customization offerings to cater for everyone. Chicken Karaage - definitely a unique chicken. I wouldn't classify it as karaage but more like Korean fried chicken (but karaage does mean deep fried, so it's fair). Exterior is crispy with a honey glaze. On the side there's some type of egg salad which is creamy and adds a unique twist. Overall good but would pass just to focus more on the ramen. Original King - extremely rich and creamy broth. Easily one of the best I've had which checks out with the high praise I've heard about Ramen Nagi. There's a solid amount of protein (pork chashu) for the price. I was expecting less so super pleased. Highly recommend the thick noodles because they're most similar to other ramen spots but the thin noodles are unique and offer a new experience. Plus the noodle variations are amazing as they have something for everyone, even picky eaters. Black King - the squid ink flavor adds some umami soy and salty flavor but the overall broth was much less creamy. I personally wouldn't order this in the future because I think the original is just that good!

Yelp
Super savory broth and noodles made to order. You choose how you want it made and it is made just right! Fresh noodles and tasty pork belly. Be ready to wait as there is always a linear this great ramen shop at Valley Fair. Servers are attentive and check on your frequently.

Yelp
First time coming to this location. When we were in the mall, there was always a line no matter when, so it was always not attractive for us to plan to try it. On a Labor Day morning, we decided to give it a try. It opens at 11am, so we planned to be there b/w 10:30-10:45 to get in the line. We arrived at 10:40 but still missed the first seating. We were told by the staff that the restaurant could seat 50 people. The first seating crowd got there about 10:30. And as we timed it, each round of dining takes about 30 minutes, so the shortest time spent on a Ramen Nagi experience would be at hour, no less. The menu is the same as the Palo Alto one and I always go back to the Black King squid ink broth. I chose thin noodle this time just because it has eggs, otherwise, I feel that thick noodle probably fits the thick broth better The seating is shared table, so we were seated at a big table with another family of 3 and a couple. Although they asked us if we would like any appetizers, we declined. It turns out to be an economical choice as there is no leftover pack out. As we just barely finished our bowls of noodle, I was pretty sure we would have a lot of left over had we added on more appetizers, maybe it was better for a bigger group. The condiments are exceptionally good as I totally fell in love with their bean sprouts which were soaked in sesame oil and seasoned with salt and black pepper. I also like that they have a sesame seed grinder. We ordered Black King, Red King (spicy) and the Original. The Black King is squid ink broth with grounded pork, think slices of cha siu and seaweed. I asked for extra garlic but it tasted more like dry garlic instead of the fresh ones, so there's no concern of stinky breath afterwards. The cha siu was slightly pink but cooked to perfection. I like to eat the toppings and broths and save the noodles to the last, despite this habit, the noodles cooked to normal texture were still not soggy. The Original King broth was good and not overly salty as i drank it with the mix of green onions and it provided a balanced palette. After you finished eating, you pay at the cashier so the staff could clean up the table for the next diners. The whole process was smooth and efficient. PS: This is somehow a family friendly restaurant but I saw a lot of toddlers and kiddos eating while staring at their parents' devices and they hardly chew. Lol...so much for a quick ramen place.

Yelp
My boyfriend brought me here for one of our dinner dates, in my opinion it was a great place for a date! We went on a Monday night, when arriving the line was still pretty long. (I waited in line and my boyfriend got us boba at a a boba place across from Ramen Nagi to help with waiting which was a great idea for killing some time) This was my first time here and appreciated how they had a staff member go around the line passing out an order form for people to fill out while waiting. [They have your food ready upon seating!] The guy that was doing it that night was very engaging with people, especially kids in line. He went over the menu for me quickly and shared his recommendation. He seemed very friendly, and even though it was busy, still seemed happy to be there! We spent about 45 minutes in line but to me the ramen was definitely worth it!! Sooo much flavor and just tasted so delicious!! We also ordered the chicken karaage, that was crispy, juicy and flavorful.

Yelp
Their ramen reminds me so much of Japan - I can't recommend this place enough!!!! The quality and taste and just the overall standard of their food is amazing. I've been a customer of this chain for two years now and each time I go, no matter the store location, I know the food will be good. The line is always long, especially on a weekend, but it is, and always will be, worth it.

Yelp
I'm not gonna lie, my expectations were low after I went to the Palo Alto location about a year ago. Something was just off -- too salty but not flavorful and overall not worth the wait. Today, I was shocked. The ramen was delicious!!! The broth was rich and flavorful. I went light tare (salt), extra garlic, and spicy with the thick noodle. It was so good, and I will definitely be back. We lined up about 20 minutes before the place opened. We didn't make it among the first parties that got in, but we only waited another 10-15 min. Service was quick, and the bin of peppered bean sprouts on the table were fresh and full. Ambiance-wise, there's quite a bit of seating inside, so the line moves pretty quickly. Tables are a bit cramped, but still fit our ramens and plate of dumplings :)

Yelp
We came here a long time ago so decided to come back. This time we came before they opened, which made the wait much shorter. This is located in the Valley Fair mall on the second floor. I love that there are so many good restaurants here. I wanted to take a second stomach with me here but it's impossible unfortunately lol. I love that you can customize your ramen at Ramen Nagi. The ramem also came out quickly. We ordered some potstickers but they didn't come out until we were halfway done with our ramen. Ramen was delicious and had good flavor. It's probably one of the better ramen places in all of California that we've tried. However, just comparing ramen places, we still like Ramen Danbo more (and wait is usually not as crazy as this place, at least in the location we usually go to in Seattle). If you like a good ramen, I'd definitely try this place out.

Yelp
Was at the mall on a Tuesday and our friend who loves DTF couldn't make it so we decided to change lunch plans and came here because the line only had 5 people. It was 12pm and if you've seen how long the line is on a weekend you'll know how amazing it is to be that short. Seating took about 10 minutes and while we were waiting my friend warned us it was just OK and not worth waiting a crazy time for, the weekend lines look like an easy 1.5 hour wait. After our lunch I agree with what my friend said, it was OK and I'm not sure I would come again even if the wait was short. The ramen is very basic if you don't pay for any of the add ons. Normal stuff like green onions, egg, and seaweed you all have to pay for separately which is crazy. The noodles were good but comparable to other noodles where the wait is shorter and you get standard toppings for free included. Chicken karaage: I only had one bite of this and left the rest on my plate. It was sweet to the point of it feeling like an accident and not intentional. Gyoza: This was very, very good. It came upside down with a fragile gyoza skirt connecting all of them. The bottom was thicker than usual but was well cooked with the texture of a potato chip. Would repeat this.

Yelp
Cute Japanese decor. The service was good. I love the complimentary sesame oil bean sprouts; refill please! i like the black king & red king ramen. The broth has a rich umami flavor which i like, so usually i order extra noodles to take to go and have it another time.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying the line for this place is absurdly long. Would I say it's worth the wait? Probably not, but maybe for your first time experience it is. The place is very small as it is located in Valley fair. I've gave it two tries before confirming this isn't my favorite place. Broth, chasu and toppings are quite bland and not full of too much flavor. On a busy day you're lucky to get any attention from the servers.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place. The line was always super long and the reviews seemed great. However, I expected more - such as the egg should be more marinated and seasoned. The broth was a tad sweet. On the other hand, I enjoyed the al dente noodle and bean sprouts. The bean sprouts were nicely seasoned and coated with sesame oil.

Yelp
Best ramen I've ever had. Food 10/10 Guy walking through the line and giving menu plus answering questions. Added to the experience. Team members inside were helpful and customer centric too. Customer service 9/10 Ambiance 7/10 chill vibes

Yelp
I came back just to try their basil ramen. I honestly quite liked it. I recommend it if you're into basil and they had this cheese with the ramen. I felt like it shouldn't have worked but it did. Service was great and place was busy as always. Again I recommend reducing that salt and oil level to the lowest you option.

Yelp
Finally got the chance to try this place! My family and I of 3 decided to get Ramen Nagi for lunch on a Monday afternoon around 12:30 pm. We waited only for 22 minutes which wasn't bad at all! Every time we come to valley fair we see the longest of lines, but coming on a weekday will lead to shorter wait times. Once at the front of the line, the host will give you paper slips so you can pre-decide on what you want. You choose what ramen, noodles, amount of condiment, drinks, and extra appetizers. We got two original kings and 1 green king. Once sat down, our orders came in about 10 minutes. They have fresh beans sprouts, pepper, and sesame seeds for additional toppings for your ramen. The interior can be packed since it holds true to a Japanese ramen bar. The food itself was delicious, and I fully understood the hype of the place. The broth tastes clean, not oily, very creamy and lots of depth in flavor. My veggie king was a great take with Italian flavors from Parmesan, some pesto, and bacon bits for extra protein. Would come here again!

Yelp
RamenNagi is one of the busiest spots in Santa Clara and for good reason. It's from Tokyo and very authentic ramen however for me this place falls short compared to the heavyweights like other competitors I've been to. Since I don't eat pork so I feel like I can't leave a super fair review since i was only limited to the veggie King the only non pork broth ramen they had. The veggie king toppings were really good I loved the hash brown it was unique and flavorful just a tad boring broth I think if you prefer tonkotsu ramen you will like this place. It's what they specialize in I can't eat it so I wouldn't know! Their karaage was really good though!

Yelp
The line looked really long because my friends and i had to start pass where they had the pole set up but it was a 45 minute wait which was great. The food came out pretty fast and we thoroughly enjoyed it. My favorite is the spice level that u get to pick and the choices for noodles meat etc is really nice too. I like the red king because i love spicy (gotta go 10), but since i eat spicy alot this one wasn't bad my friends couldnt handle my broth but it was super flavorful. The karaage we got had a slight sweetness with some ginger taste too. I enjoyed the overall ramen and would go again with a shorter line please. ALSO i can eat their bean sprouts all day if given the chance

Yelp
I had lunch today for the first time at RNagi. I really was not impressed I thought the portions are skimpy. We ordered extra pork belly but I felt the portions are so measured so that every order adds extras. The service was non existent after I was served. That is why I did not leave a tip. I'm not sure I would ever be back! I think it's a step of up cup of noodles

Yelp
The chicken karaage was a 3/5 for me. Felt like the quality and flavor went a bit downhill than I expected. The chicken they used has this weird taste to it when I take a bite of it. My friend and I didn't get to finish it :(. The ramen, however, was pretty good! 5/5! Also an extra 5 stars for playing ONE OK ROCK ;-)

Yelp
I live nearby, so I've had Ramen Nagi more times than I can count. The Original King is my usual go-to, super flavorful and comforting. It's a little on the salty side. The broth is rich, the noodles are always cooked just right, and the toppings are generous. Mushrooms are my favorite. I also love how customizable it is. You can adjust the spice, garlic, richness, whatever you're in the mood for. There's almost always a wait, especially during peak hours, but honestly, it moves pretty fast and the ramen is worth it every time.

Yelp
This spot alllllways has a line, so figured the food must be good. We waited in line for about 45 minutes on a Saturday. Food came out in 5 minutes, so they're super fast back in the kitchen. The servers are friendly, but you need to grab someone if you need anything, outside of taking your order and giving you the check. The food was fine. I don't get why this place always has a line like it does. This is just decent ramen with average toppings in a good broth. It isn't anything special or anything I would ever go back for. We fell for the hype, but that's OK. It will be a first and last for us, but just because we can get the same quality anywhere else without waiting in a line for it.

Yelp
Massive shoutout to Mike @ Ramen Nagi! I've been to the Palo Alto location before, but this time I stopped by not quite sure what to order. Luckily, Mike came to the rescue! Even during a packed lunch rush with 20-30 people, he took the time to check if there were any first-timers and then walked us through the menu like a pro. My colleague and I both would've been lost without him -- his knowledge, patience, and enthusiasm made all the difference. You could tell he genuinely cared about giving guests the best possible experience. Mike and the Ramen Nagi team -- you delivered a solid 10/10 service. Thank you for turning what could've been a confusing order into an amazing meal and memorable experience!

Yelp
I have visited Ramen Nagi twice within the past 3 months and I can say that I'm now a fan of their ramen. I had long heard of their product but never was interested in lining up for a bowl of ramen, no matter how good it was purported to be. If you line up about 10 mins before they open on any typical day, you should be a part of their first seating, at least on most weekdays. When you're in line, one of their staff will come around with menu sheets and a pen. Ordering is as straightforward and as simple as it can get. For both visits, I went with the Original King and all of the typical options. The broth, noodles, and optional soft boiled egg were fresh and almost perfect. If you're hungry, I'd recommend you spring for the extra noodles.

Yelp
Ramen Nagi is hands down one of the best ramen spots around! The broth is rich and flavorful, noodles perfectly chewy, and the customization makes every bowl just right. The Black King is bold and garlicky, the Red King has the perfect kick, and the chashu pork literally melts in your mouth. Fast service, great vibes--always worth the wait! You have to stand in the line for an hour wait here which is usually so be mentally prepared to wait.
